I was using PA and switched back to Pure Nexus. Now my screen colors are way off. Hard to look at they're so dull and bland. I'm pretty sure I can sort it all out with a total clean flash, but was curious if anyone knows of a way to recalibrate the colors without having to go that route. Thanks.

No, you're absolutely right. But actually what I did was a restore in recovery. However, I just did a clean install and still had the issue. Figured out it was coming from the Accessibility options in Settings. For some reason, maybe a carry-over of Google settings, the Color correction option was turned on. That was it. I was playing with the screen color options in PA and I guess maybe since it's under accessibility options in a stock ROM, Google remembered that as part of my settings profile. That's all I can think because I don't believe it's on by default.

I got the DINC 2 a couple of months ago, and I highly doubt ill buy a new phone for quite awhile. So when ICS is rolled out, will gingerbread phones like mine still get new apps??
Yes. From the leaks of ICS, it doesn't look like what it was expected to be. Seems google couldn't keep their "promise". It looks like it'll just be another "froyo to gingerbread update" (meaning the update doesn't really contain anything substantial)
And to make it clear for you, there are rarely any apps that are designed for only gingerbread, so that means the possibility of apps working only on ICS is low. ICS has to be a eclair/froyo sort of update for that to happen, which it doesn't look like.
Unless there is hw included in ICS... >.>
yes, your phone will still get apps
people who are still on froyo (2.2)/and lower still get apps even though gingerbread (2.3) is the current release
But are they compatible?

So I just flashed my first ever rom (ARHD 3.6.2) and am loving the speed of this phone.
I have flashed a battery mod, extended power settings and custom boot animation and font but was wondering what other cool mods are available that people are using? ARHD compatible of course. Are other roms better for mods and themes?
I have seen a couple of screen shots where people have some toggle controls in the pull down notifications and extended control options in the quick settings, what are they?
List some recommendations here. Thanks!

Cm7 has an awesome built in theme changer which can change nearly every aspect of your phone without a reboot. You can download themes for it from both the android market and from "theme chooser themes" which is basically a market app just for cm7 themes. It's really cool because there are so many different ones like ice cream sandwich theme and they apply instantly.
And if you still don't find a theme you want, there is even a website called UOTKitchen that lets you easily make cm7 themes through their website and then it will make it and you can download your newly designed theme.
Also cm7 has the notification widgets you are thinking of which are also customizable.
If it's customization you want, look no further than cyanogenmod.
Yeah I'm gonna wait for a "proper" release of cm7 before trying it out. Do you know when that will be?

Keyan said it'll be quite soon. Though that's a relative term, and can mean anything from 2 weeks to a month.
Hey Sergey glad u like the ICS cm7 theme I just added the full black statbar and new pulldown bar last night if u haven't received the update notification from the market yet. And OP you should definitely go with at least a cm7 based rom, even an "experimental" RC or nightly will be more stable than most of the modded aosp you'll find. And it will come with more built-in features like the Theme Chooser app so you don't have to use a few dozen external apps and mods every rom install to achieve the same level of customizations
OK well I still prefer to wait for a full release, liking ARHD right now and honestly can't be bothered flashing a new rom and restoring all my apps and settings just now.

Lmao hahaha, that guy is just crazy for CM. If you look at his other posts (I see them all the time) He hates sense for some reason and would more than likely sacrifice his gf for CM on his phone. The things CM can do.. it also makes him type in that nasty cyan colour. I also skipped that!

There's also things like Volume Wake if you want that.. I don't like using my power button too much. Everything breaks!
U can flash the crt mod.. the apm or advanced power menu from android revolution. U can look in the theme section for a custom lockring. U also have thyparancy honey HD theme that's nice. I personally am currently using arhd 3.6.2 but I think that coredroid is probably the most unique rom out so far, do a backup and check it out.any way hope this helps

I just learned to flash/root too, tried several ROMS. One i liked the most is CoreDroid, especially the eyecandy.
And with ARHD used the crt/fonts. Used thyparancy themes/skins.
To do it yourself goto UOT Kitchen, make your own battery mod/overscroll glow/ fonts. I just tried it this week first time, aint hard at all. And outcome is nice.

Yeah I tried at like 3am... tried stock and Da_G's kernels with no luck. Hoping someone over there or here can make a change to allow it to work.
I'm running cm7 now. Flash it do not do the conversion package just flash cm7 and gapps. But there is a screen rotation issue. Otherwise very snappy fast and smooth

lol @ AnTuTu giving it a "0" score.
I can't wait till CM7 is ported to the Skyrocket. I'm liking a lot of the little things about the ROM customization.
This isn't a daily driver right now for the simple orientation issue. But it at least lets folks take a peek at CM7.
We need a  emoticon.
know, Galaxy S II which also known as Skyrocket is the Android smartphone with new technology namely LTE which supports 4G network. Now, if you are Japanesse people then you can now purchase Samsung Galaxy S II LTE in your Country. Yeah, Samsung has launched their Galaxy S II Skyrocket in Japan.
Recently, Samsung Galaxy S II LTE is available in US, Australia, and also Europe. But now, it is surpricingly because as the country with advance technology, Japan now can try this LTE smartphone. For the data plan, this LTE smartphone is launched by Japan’s NTT DoCoMo. NTT DoCoMo is the first provider in Japan who did have LTE network.
For the availability, you can purchase Samsung Galaxy S II LTE for ¥20,000 or $258 USD. This price is including a two-year contract with NTT DoCoM0. You can check the specs preview of Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket or check the hands-on video here

Tried to send an MMS mssg. It sent/received the picture successfully but on the screen it says "loading new albums and photos" and that wasn't going away.
Then it crashed and said "Activity Gallery (in application Gallery) is not responding".
Whatever that was, it also crashed my launch pad and the icons disappeared.
I'll go ahead and reboot & try a few other things.

I'm not able to make phone calls yet. I do "connect", but I don't hear anything and it says "pause" on the phone screen.
I think some of the TMO guys experienced a similar issue though. I'll check the TMO thread.
Edit: I rebooted & calls are working.

SCREEN ORIENTATION WORKAROUND:
Guys, as a temporary workaround until CM7 is ported to Skyrocket, you could consider doing what I am doing, to gain proper orientation. This is a workaround, not a fix.
1) Downoad and install an auto-orientation widget. I used this one, there are dozens of others.
https://market.android.com/details?id=tw.com.sti.android.widget.orientlock&feature=related_apps
2) Go to settings/CM7 settings/Display and scroll to the bottom and make it so there are only checkmarks in 0 degrees and 90 degrees.
Now use the Auto Orientation desktop widget to flip back & forth between portrait or landscape.
Unlocked is for landscape with USB to the right side of phone, and Locked is for portrait.
Works great for me!
The apps from the Samsung Galaxy S2 look pretty amazing, e.g mms, contacts e.g. I was wondering if any devs out there would want to look at porting or theming some apps from the S2. I can get copies of just about anything in the S2's system, so if anyone wants to have ago at this I can upload some apk's from the /system/app directory.
Thanks, happyland.adventures

Hey guys,
woul andybody be interested in putting together a simple white&blue Kindle Fire boot animation?
I'd love to have a bootanimation just with white/blue "Kindle Fire" sign on a black backgorund (idea taken from a FFF bootloader, see attached pic), with animation similiar to stock Android animation (just a glow going over the sign while it boots).
This would be appreciated.
I can try to whip one up later today.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Here you go.
Change filename to "bootanimation.zip" and move to /system/media with root explorer or similar. You may also have to copy to /data/local for this to work, but try it without first.
http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/352987/KindleFireBlue_by_veeman.zip
This is very close to what I wanted.
I'd only make a full black background (looks like the color depth of the boot is low and background looks weird like this), made font smaller for ~10% and softened the font.
If you're in a mood you can make the "fixes", if not everything is also ok.
Thank you.

Try these ones.
Edit: 2KindleFireBlue_veeman.zip works but I don't think the 1st one does.
This is it (tested only Animation 2). Great. Id suggest this to gede to make it a default bootanimation 4 gedeROM.
glad I stumbled across this thread. really like this boot animation, simple, subtle, very nice.
i just put it into my SGT7 installation and will probably do that for the foreseeable future
thanks veeman!
[Edit: Just wondering if it's possible to somehow increase the contrast of the angled highlighting that traverses 'Kindle'? I realize it's a tougher thing to do b/c the text is already white or nearly white. I didn't notice it the 1st time through, but saw it upon closer look right before the KF finished booting up (after the backlight dimmed). This is one of the few times I wish a device would boot up a little -slower- ]
i dont understand where to put the zip file...... i use es file explorer and i dont see the right folder. is root explorer different than es file explorer........ or if gedemis puts this in 1.7 i wont have to worry about it.
With ES File Explorer you need to go to settings, enable superuser, enable "mount system RW" and enable "browse up to root directory" (or sth similar), to get to /system/media ..

yeah, if you have time, i think making the 'kindle' text a shade darker would make the overall ani more complete. no rush, esp since once the thing's been booted a first time the ani barely gets a chance to show itself off...
Great job veeman. Glad you got the problems resolved. Do you mind if i put a link to the bootanimation in the mod section of my rom?
P.S. - Making them is alot of fun. The best part is thinking of an idea and implementing it and seeing the results. The only part that sucks is having to make one by one image.

Of course you can link it! That would be great.
If you have after effects, you can have the animation in there and have it save as a png sequence with the file names as numbers starting from 10001. It takes about 30 seconds for it to render all the frames. Makes making them so much easier.
