Does anyone get quite bad battery drain overnight?seems to drain more than when I had my s7 edge!!I know s7 edge had doze built in so I'm assuming s8+ also had doze built in,also compared to my previous phone iPhone 7+ which hardly drained, dropped 10% overnight about 6 hours doing nothing and was in ultra battery settings also using greenify,do I need to download the app doze?other than this battery life through the day and such has been great anyone else get this?cheers

The reason why it don't show i unplugged phone around 2:30 am after that i went right back to bed and just woke up now , so thats normal will not show apps since phone wasn't touched till i got up, once you start using phone and apps then it will start showing apps being used!

My battery drain overnight is minimal, 8 hours off the plug on a full charge is 4-6 per cent.

So before you stop using phone for night do you close all apps in background for them not to show or just leave it?thanks for info
I'm having a battery issue as well. I had my phone on the car charger for 5 hours and it showed that it was charging but my phone dropped to 6%. There were no apps running in the background and I restarted the phone.
My T-Mobile variant S8+ seldom has more than a 4% drop after being fully charged and sitting on desk for 8-9 hours. I've disabled Bixby and several other services.

I've had a couple of instances when the battery would not charge when plugged is. Showd as quick charging, but no increase in percent battery charge. Rebooting fixed it for me both times.

I usually charge my phones overnight, but in the one instance that I left it unplugged, I was pleasantly surprised to wake up to 100%. Not a single percent dropped. It's worth mentioning that I turned the phone over so that AOD would shut off.
i've been having issues as well. it has been draining 20-40% overnight lately. i got gsam with advanced stats on and have been removing stuff... i'm not quite sure what the culprit is, but i think it might be dt ignite so i disabled that.

You need to identify the what the wake-locks are that are causing the battery drain. Install BetterBatteryStats, charge your phone right before bedtime, then leave it overnight to collect data. Post a screenshot of BetterBatteryStats when you wakeup the next morning.
i have the same problem with my galaxy S8 i lose overnight between 10 and 20 %.. before this problem i lost 1 to 3% overnight and now it has been a week that i have this problem of loosing 10 to 20% :/
I have my Wi-Fi off, phone face down so Aod is turned off. Location is on power saving mode. Optimised settings ,fhd+. Still I lose more than 10% overnight. What should I do to reduce this drain ?? I am getting a great battery life otherwise on my note 8. About 6 to 7hrs of Sot with about 18 hrs total.
I`m getting 2% drain over 8 hours of sleep with AOD off , wifi on or off it`s the same 2%, location always on on power saving mode.

Try turning off the Always Scanning for WiFi option. Also, change the Sync settings for apps you don't need to be synced at all times. And Location setting to Battery Saver.

When im at home i can pull close to 4hrs screen on . If im not on wifi the phone idle is terrible. I probably drain 6% or more per hr idling. Its hard coming from a note 4 , but i guess it is what it is.

Draining at 6% per hour is not good & unusual. But for Android 5.0.2, it seems about right, unfortunately. My N5 drained at that rate before the 5.1 update.
On my S4 with its 2-yr old battery, I drain at 3 to 3.5% per hour on idle with both WiFi & LTE turned off.
On my N5 with a new battery & 5.1, I idle drain at 0.7 to 1.5% per hour.
I'll add my battery drain rate once I get my S6E tomorrow.
Sent from my SPH-L720
This is mine on light usage. I noticed etter after a factory reset. Heavy usage is between 6 and 8 depending on wifi
I'm debating going to get one of these... My Note 2 keeps not charging and the stock battery died in 1:10 (from 50% to 1%) during a run yesterday. I was using spotify and mapmyrun.
Today is my first day after first full charge and my battery drains at ~3.5% hour, per GSAM.
I have screen brightness at little bit below the half-way mark with Auto Brightness checked.
I disconnected my phone at 6 AM and right now, it has been on 16 hrs 30 mins. I have gotten 2 hrs 30 mins SOT with 45% left.
Wifi active for 6 hrs, LTE for about 1 hr.
Screen has used 52% of my battery, Wifi 15% (5.0.2 shortcoming), Bluetooth (2%), Held Awake (0%), Phone (0%), Phone Radio (0%), App Usage (31%).
So far, the S6E is outperforming my Nexus 5 on 5.1 with a brand-new battery I swapped in on 4/1/2015.
Happy with the S6E's battery life, especially considering it's only 2600mah.
a little over 6hrs and it went from 100% to 14%. Granted 56%-23% were on a 1:43 run using Bluetooth headphones + spotify and mapmyrun mapping my way. Oddly, when I look at the battery usage, OneDrive is at 18%!
18 hrs & 37 mins off the charger with 4 hrs 8 mins of SOT. 17% battery left. I'm very happy with this. Update to 5.1 should improve it a lot more as it did on my Nexus 5.
Android System & Kernel battery usage is pretty decent. Those two on my N5 on 5.1 drains way more battery than it does on my S6 Edge.
When I'm not actively using my phone, the idle battery drain rate is pretty good - 1.9%/hour (similar to my N5, with the N5 being a bit better).
13 hrs & 9 mins off the charger with 2 hrs 20 mins SOT --> 52% battery left.
All this is without Root and my usual battery-saving Root programs.
Once 5.1 rolls out and if I decide to Root the phone and add battery-saving Root apps, I'm expecting to achieve 6-7 hrs SOT.

Ive noticed that turning off location and disabling google now has helped my battery life a lot.
I love this phone, but the battery life is the one terrible thing. 7-10 hours seems to be the max. I might have to return it and suffer the summer until the note 5.
i'm surprised to hear about all the negative battery life issues on this phone. on my GS3, i'd lose 3-4% battery just driving to work - now I get there and still have 100%. maybe i'm just not as heavy a user, but the other day my phone was off the charger for 16 hours and I still had 43% when I got home - and that included using Google Maps for 20 minutes, texting throughout the day, and using a bunch of apps. when idle, I generally only get 1% battery drain. my only complaint about the phone is some of the UI that I can't customize, but it's only a matter of time before custom ROMs are available...
I lose 10% or more battery on the phone regardless if I'm using it or it is sitting with the screen off. When I drive the 45 minutes to work, the battery is at 89%-93%.
A 1hr run with it on my arm playing spotify/mapmyrun seems to use about 26%.
Basically, I'm always worried now about the battery dying when I'm using it.
at the end of next month, I have a 14hr+ a day for 4 days music festival where I can only charge it at night. 7-10hr battery isn't going to work for me. It seems bizarre to me that they made the best phone ever, but skimped on the battery.
drive to work today with the phone just sitting beside me, 100% to 86%.

Hi,
I received my gear S2 classic yesterday but I don't seem to be getting the battery life of 2 days. I took it off charge this morning at 11:30 am and it's now 12 noon and it's down to 89%. Is this normal? I've turned off the auto heart rate monitor and NFC and Wifi. It's constantly connected to my note 4 and the brightness is set to 5.
I've had a fair few notifications and haven't really used apps on it today so far but seems to be draining quicker than what I was expecting, just wondering if this is normal or not? I understand it's a small battery but when it's supposed to get 2 days and it doesn't seem like I'd get one day out of it if I was to take it off charge early in the morning like at 8 AM for example.
In 30 min it drained 11%? Seems like a lot. Restart it perhaps? I have wifi off, s voie off, and screen brightness set to 5 as well and it lasts 2+ days. I'd give a couple more days, if it doesn't improve then I would exchange it.

Think it's okay (ish) been off charge now for about 11 and a half hours and it's at 46% though this still is only barely a day of battery life not 2. Should be able to live with it though I normally put my phone on charge at night when I go bed anyway regardless of the charge I have left and I do the same with the S2. Speaking of phone is there anything I can do with it's battery life? Having bluetooth on 24/7 really takes a hit on my battery life on my note 4. Is there anyway I could put it into some kinda low powered bluetooth mode so maybe it's not quite as fast but still some kind of connection?

I had pretty bad battery life with watch connected too. It turned out it was a misbehaving app with bluetooth, GasBuddy in mycase. Uninstalled it and battery life went back to normal. I suspect something similar may be happening in your case.

+1 for the misbehaving app as the likely cause. For comparison: My Classic goes on at 9am and off around 9pm with about 60% left, consistently. Connected with bt...Wifi off and max brightness all day.

That drain seems a little fast to me but not too bad compared to the experience of others posted here.
Usually you'll notice the drain soon after installing troublesome apps, so the offender is likely one of the last few you installed. To fix this I just uninstall the last few apps I downloaded and test from there. If the battery issue is still not resolved after a while of usage, then I uninstall the ones before it. I don't know of any other way to test on the Gear S2 like we do on android phones (e.g. with bbs, wakelock detector, etc.).
The battery life I mentioned for my Classic is with gesture mide turned on, and always-on mode turned off.
It seems to me my phone is running through the battery much faster after the Marshmallow upgrade. I am running OEM (not rooted). Also, is there a document somewhere that shows the new settings (assuming there are some)?
It's too early to tell, but today I was at work and from 6am when I unplug it to 430 pm my battery would be around 71 percent on 5.1.1...today on 6.0.1 I was at 84 percent so doze definitely helped me. I would wipe your cache if you haven't and as a last resort factory reset.
It is to early mine was killing it yesterday I was headed for an easy 4 hrs sot. Then it died at 10%. I think it'll work out after a couple days. Either way mine hasn't gotten worse even dying 10%early I was in better shape sot wise.

My battery on idle has improved significantly. Lost only 4% overnight last night, compared to 10% - 15% on LP.
+1 on over night battery. Went to bed at 12, woke up at 8 had only lost 5% instead of the normal 8-15%

Must be my luck, lol, upgraded yesterday around noon, got home and later charged the phone fully around 11pm. Got up in the morning 6:30 -- 74% left !!!!!!! By 12:30pm had 10% left, horrible, before I used to get 91-96% juice left on battery overnight, and now it is horrible beyond belief , thinking of going back to lollipop or resetting the phone first.

Try a reset, I lost less than 2% last night. I am using greenify paid but my stand by drain is insanely good.
Anyone know where to see the battery % remaining, besides having it set to always show on the status bar? I never liked having the % on the status bar, and instead would occasionally just go into settings/battery and it would show the % remaining. Unless I am missing something, I don't see the % remaining in 6.0.1.

Well, that was short lived... I've lost about 50% battery overnight for the past few nights.

Nobody else has an issue where there is no battery % remaining info available in Settings/Battery? I did a clean factory reset and still don't see it. I attached a screen capture of what I see.
My battery life was great on 5.1.1. On 6.0,1 it is horrible. I've done a factory reset, wiped cache, using greenify and package disabler and I'm still getting horrible life. My problem is not drain overnight like most. My battery just drops fast while using the phone. Also, wifi is now very unstable if bluetooth is on.
been experimenting lately with the voice activation...
I was running both s voice and google now ok google detection any screen when I posted my previous battery %'s..
I turned both off for ****s and giggles and lost 3% over the night and so far usually my battery is around 40-50% by the time I get home from work and I still have 65% left.
I dont use any greenify or battery apps. I used the system disabled and disabled about 60-70 apps, kept pay and all the bells and whistles enabled, mostly disabled verizon bs and samsung activation agents and unused programs I wasnt using like amazon app, etc.

Yea, resetting worked , standby time is awesome now, even during the day after medium usage the battery still has plenty of life left, a lot better than on 5.1.1. Overnight I lost only 2%, with wifi and data/location disabled.
Did you do a factory data reset or just a simple reset that saves your files and apps?
Is there any difference between doing a reset in settings vs a reset in recovery?

Try to re-enable all the packages. Something might be trying to call one of the disabled packages repeatedly. Then recheck the usage.
Battery was bad from the beginning before I even installed package disabler.
I got an S7 G930F yesterday, first full charge last night, I haven't it even properly set up yet, haven't got most of my apps installed yet. I took it of the charger this morning at 8am its now at 50% at 2pm, 45 mins screen on time with the biggest battery drain being android system 20%.
I have hardly used the phone today as I'm off work, at this rate it'll be dead long before bedtime with me doing nothing.
Any ideas?
Hard to expect getting the best of it at first. It took me a good week to figure out how to optimized battery without having to use it like a 2G phone. I suggest you do factory reset. Observe how it goes that way. For the first time, a handful of things run in the background; syncing, location, whatsoever so I bet it'll take a while to really adapt and I can assure you based on experience, it's like that as it was like for me.

Always takes a few full charge cycles to get the best out of a new battery I find, fully charge and fully discharge 4-5 times, calibrates the phone too to know what 0% and 100% are iirc
But you're always going to see high battery usage setting up a new phone, installing apps, screen on constantly, playing about with it more than you will once you've had it a while
The are wide reports today of crazy bad battery life. Some people are tying it the latest Oculus update.

I'd like to believe that but I didn't have this issue on my Nexus 5X with a smaller battery or Huawei P9 Lite, in fact the P9 Lite also has a 3000mAh battery and I could make it last 2 full days, this won't last 1.
Getting the phone yesterday, you've hardly given it a chance, with heavy usage I get just over a day with mine, with medium, 2 days
Same phone, same OS, same battery
See how you get on in a week or two, or return it and get the Edge, 3600mAh
Check the package disabler pro threads, disable the battery draining bloatware (no root needed)

Yep thats the usage I got with my P9 Lite with the same size battery. I was sitting this morning look at the phones always on display. 30mins of the charger it was at 94% and that's with me not even touching it.
It's crap for the first few days
Whenever I first got my phone or when I factory reset or when I install new rom, the battery life is usually crap. But after a few days when battery optimization kicks in (power saving on apps not used in past few days) battery gets tremendously better.
Posting back to confirm that Oculus update shat on a lot of phones.
Oculus home process kept trying to install and uninstall. This demolished battery life, increased heat, etc.
Once I uninstalled Oculus, all problems went away. I will reinstall after fix.
This may be caused by either the oculus app or good lock app they have been reports on the Internet about these two particular apps
Also when setting the phone for the first time it will drain battery in the first few days
Confirmed about Oculus draining battery

Definitely was, my phone overheated and shut down over night when the update came through. I literally couldn't charge it it with fast charger. it would just sit at the same % it was burning through the battery so quickly. uninstalled sammy vr and oculus apps everything fine now.
I don't have anything oculus related installed. The is day 2, second full charge last night. Of the charger now 1 hour, its got flight mode on with wifi calling enabled. I am currently at 90% with 1 min screen on time. Android services again the biggest hog but it contains IPSec services which does the Wifi Calling part.
I was about to remove Occulus when I received an occulus update, about one hour ago, and it seems that the problem is fixed. The battery looks ok, and the phone is not hot any more. I'm waiting a little bit more to be sure...
Right guys I have found the culprit of my drain issue. Wifi calling. I happened to turn it off and I have gone from 10% drain in an hour to 1%
That's more like it, never used WiFi calling so wouldn't know if it causes drain
EDIT - Not available with my model / carrier
There's a debloat script back in the Development Section which will remove all those trash that came with the phone, as for battery optimaztion This Ultimate Battery Guide is one of the best here in XDA and is a must see for anyone with an android phone basically
Goodluck
Hi all! Today I have received my Note 10 and did transfer data from my S10e. All went well as usual. Played with the phone for an hour or so. I then launched Phone Info app and Personal tab showed my phone's battery health at 99.4% and discharge cycle is 0(never charged phone yet). I thought strange... I plugged the phone in as the battery % was at 31. While phone was charging, I kept checking battery health through Phone info app and it went down to 97.5%.
As an example: I have S10e which I owned for 2+ months and battery health is shown as 100% and discharge cycle is 19, which is about right.
Could it be that the phone is new and was never charged to let the battery calibrate itself and system to realize that?

If this app is correct, I may need to exchange/return device. Can anyone check their Note 10 or maybe Note 10+ for the battery health info?
I tried to factory reset device couple of times, but the battery health is around 98%. Other Samsung phone that I had, showed 100% especially when new.
I think that software is unreliable I think you should just enjoy your phone.

I would have to agree, I installed the app last night and it said my battery health was like 40%.
I've had this app for awhile didn't realize the battery health section. Mine is saying 40% as well. I wouldnt worry about it

My 10+ also shows 40. My SOT is ~9.5hrs. Go figure.
Same as me. I installed phone info and show health 40%
My Note 10+ shows 40.1%, and I do think you need a rooted device to make that app reliable.
A brand new battery often shows 94 - 97% health on a rooted device.
The battery gets better and better after several charge/discharge cycles done the right way, up until a point where it starts to drop from the charging cycles.
If you always let you phone die or go under 20% and then charge to 100% it will degrade faster.
I have tried this on both S8 and S9 with root.
