Hey guys, I've been having problems with my memory card lately. The one that came with the phone got damaged (due to me putting it into my card reader backwards) so I got a new one from Walmart. Since then I've had a lot of trouble. It worked ok for a day or two then at work one day I took it out of my locker and it said "bad removal". The card wasn't touched, it was just sitting in my locker. It has happened again a few times. I can temporarily fix it by reseating the card in the slot but it comes back. Now that doesn't even work. It just comes up saying I don't have a card. I've ruined my otterbox case trying to get this working (it won't grip the phone anymore because I've removed it so many times) and I'm very annoyed. I figured I'd ask if anyone has any idea what could be wrong before I go back to Bell with it. By the way, the phone is stock Android 2.2
Edit: Just realized I posted this in the wrong forum. Mod please move?
anyone got any ideas?
What brand of card did you get? Some cheap cards are notorious failing long before their time.
Maybe its defective. If its still pretty new, try to exchange it.
The other issue is that maybe you damaged the card tray when you inserted the card backwards.
This really sounds like you got some b-ware. You should return it to your dealer.

WTF is b-ware?
Well I went into Bell and they suggested I try another card so they got one of theirs and it worked fine. It's been okay so far so I guess I'll have to keep it. Only problem is I got a 4gb instead of the 8gb from Walmart for the same price. They wanted another 20 for the 8gb. The guy wasn't totally sure what it was but he assumed it was that their cards have been tested with each phone to ensure they work whereas the otehr is just a generic card. And he mentioned something about it being class 6, whatever that is.
My G2 has been experiencing SD card issues for a month or two now. I've been exclusively on CM7 nightlies, but since nobody else seems to have had this issue, I assumed it was me. Usually when using something that accessed my SD card, the phone would "unexpectedly" remove itself. Sometimes a reboot would mount my card again (can't mount through settings), but oftentimes I'd have to wait it out and reboot after a few days/reboot 20 times in hopes that it'd read it. I would re-set my SD card in the slot several times, but it doesn't do anything.
I'm still at the mercy of it and am contemplating unrooting my device to bring it in for warranty because it is a very big issue that is crippling my phone. I purchased a new SD card, but the problems still persist. Multiple data wipes/rom changes have occured as well as formatting said cards, but it's all the same.
Right now I just flashed CM7 stable (card was working [it plays funny, but if I try to use the camera, it usually dies]), and I hope that my card issues are gone, but I am fairly confident it's a hardware issue.
So i needed to change the module board of SIM Card, got one on ebay, opened the phone and replaced the little board with 1 flex conector.
but NOW when i turn on the phone theres no message of "sim card not found" and theres circled slash on where suposed to be network.
am i missing something or i might just screwd it up?
Open it up again and make sure everything in connected correctly and that nothing is shorted.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
ok finally made it.
the thing was that its so damn fragile...o replaced many times the boards in many diferent and sensitive ways...and then one way worked out even though i cannot tell whats the different between the correct position and the other ones that did not recognize the SIM CARD module/board.
Error for me too

Hi, I am facing the same issue. Whatever the sim I am inserting, I am getting "Insert Sim Card" message only. Will this work if I replace same like what you did? Can you paste the link?

I had a similar problem, turned out the replacement tray was bad.
I don't get to say this often but I actually encountered great customer service. I ordered the replacement sim card tray/sdcard holder for a Samsung device on which the sim card reader had been damaged. I received the one piece tray but the sdcard slot was non-functional. I wrote an email pointing out the flaw with no expectations. Got a new part in 2 days. No run around at'all! No 2 hours navigating an automated phone nightmare (Net10/AT&T), just a dang email. I gave em good feedback ratings on their site of course! I don't know if it's allowed but it's so rare to find good folks I feel the need to pimp em.

I just replaced my Sim Card tray. It was working fine.
But for my own safety i re-set the whole phone and re-flashed cm10.1
Phone is working fine. Reading sim, microsd card but sadly i'm stuck on 2g now.
disassembly
I am in having to replace the sim card holder on my skyrocket but I am having trouble finding out how the sim card holder board is attached to the main board,,could someone direct me to some kind of disassembly guide or something
thanks
My phone is just over 1 year old now and I've never had any issues before. A few days ago I would get the message that the SD card was removed unexpectedly when it wasn't, and then it would work for a few hours and repeat. Now, I cannot get either of my 2 micro sd cards to be recognized by my phone. Both these sd cards are able to be read by my pc so I am confident they aren't corrupted or have an issue. Is this most likely an issue with the SD card reader in my phone or somehow the sd cards have been corrupted?

I have the same issue since last month. Tried to flash back to the stock 4.4.2 Rom (From Lollipop) and now the SD cards cannot be even recognized by the phone. My PC can read/write to the SD cards without any issues. It seems it is a common problem for LG G3 phone. Mine is D855 version though.
I just had that problem as well and it ended up with the SIM not being detected as well. Had to get a replacement. I assumed that the SD card/ SIM tray combo was a removeable component - it's not, it's soldered to the phone so I couldn't replace it. (D850) Now, I'm worried that this replacement is going to suffer the same fate... Hopefully later, rather than sooner.

Here is my update:
Sent in my phone to LG to be repaired and after receiving it back I had the same issue. LG claims they replaced the sim/micro sd reader. Then I thought it must be the software, so I downgraded to the stock software from the factory (4.4.1 I believe) and I had the same issue. Annoyed, I told LG they did not fix the issue and sent it to them again with the hope they would replace it but unfortunately I received it back and they claim all they did was update the software (4.1.1 -> 5.0.1) and obviously this did not fix the issue. At this point I simply just don't use a micro sd card anymore because of this annoying issue. Still searching for a solution..
Exactly my problem. So annoying!!! I've got my sim/sd tray replaced and the problem occured for the 2nd time after 2 weeks.
I have had my S7 since pretty much the beginning, I was fortunate enough to receive mine fairly early compared to others. Along with purchasing my new phone, I got a Samsung 64GB EVO Class 10 SD card to take advantage of the expandable storage. Everything had been going find until earlier today. I noticed that I got a notification that my SD card was corrupt, I didn't think it was that big of a deal as I didn't have very much data on the card as of yet so I clicked the option to format it. The phone seemed to be having issues reading the actual card as it couldn't seem to format it, an error kept popping up saying that the command had failed. I then put the SD card into my laptop to see if I'd have any more luck with it, and sure enough windows told me that the only way the card could be read was if it was formatted. After formatting the card through my computer, I put it back into my phone. It worked for about 5 minutes or so before telling me it was corrupt again, I'm not exactly sure where to go from here.
I had this Samsung 64GB EVO Class 10 Micro SDXC Memory Card with Adapter (MB-MP64DA/AM) from amazon with my S4 with no problems since it went on sale back in December. Last Friday I got the same message that it was now corrupt and I need to format it. My computer cant see it and I have some intense data recovery software that cant help either. Since those little SD cards have a 10 year warranty I got on the phone to Samsung. I spoke with a Samsung Galaxy expert and they advised me to call their Micro SD support team at 1-800-726-7864. I'll call them tomorrow and report back what they say.
Prolly got a fake from amazon
Amazon do insist they don't sell fake cards, however I have had the exact same problem with the exact same memory card, also bought off amazon. I've used this card in a few different phones with no issue, however upon installing it in my GS7, within a few days I got the same error message as described here. I have contacted Amazon and have had a replacement card (same one) and will see how it goes. I'm on about day three so far with no apparent issues. Tick Tock Tick Tock.....
I'll probably call them up also.. but I think I'll see what happens with yours before I just destroy another SD card
Just got off the phone with Samsung. They're sending me a RMA form to fill out through my email for a replacement. After the whole amazon fake SD card fiasco they're going through they are being very helpful so far. If you can return to amazon it will probably be quicker but I am at day 100 or so with this card.
I think I have the same problem. I have a Samsung card also (not evo) and have used it in several phones without a problem until now. In my case the card corrupts at reboot. I managed to f around and somehow the card was readable again (after re-inserting several times). However on the latest reboot I the phone no longer detects the card at all.
I doubt I have a fake card as I have been using it for over a year now and almost filled the capacity (64GB). I even formatted it when I first inserted into the GS7.
I have since ordered a new card but I hope this phone is not going to be killing cards!
RMA received. Samsung wanted a jpg or pdf of sales receipt and a pic of the back of the card. Card will be mailed to Samsung at my expense ($2 ish) and a new unit will be sent out. Fingers are crossed that the fast charge tech isn't sending card killing voltage spikes through the phone.
Just a quick update guys, in case it helps anyone, but my new card replaced from Amazon is working OK so far without issue.
Update, whilst it hasn't killed my SD card, I've just had an update and after that it refuses to write to any memory card I have. So I'm returning it tomorrow, it will read OK, but not write to.
I'm using a samsung pro+ 64GB card with my S7 and that annoying SD card notification keeps popping out. Sometimes I could see another notification said SD card removed/unmounted unexpectedly then the annoying notification. I've tried using an old 32GB TF card and I've never seen this annoying notification.
My guess is that S7/S7E have some compatibility issue with even Samsung's own newer and faster SD cards.
I'm waiting anxiously for an OTA hoping this is a software issue. I hope my S7 won't corrupt my SD card.
Update: Just received my replacement micro XD from Samsung in less than 2 weeks, very cool. I like their new usb card reader, very slick. Well see how long this lasts. I also just had a OTA update to the S7. Lets see what they fixed.
BlueT
Same issue
Exactly same scenario as bensto23 first described, same SD card, however....I replaced that 64GB Samsung EVO with a Patriot 128GB and after about 2 weeks the same message popped up. But when I put this card in my laptop it couldn't see a problem (the Samsung was unreadable). So the Patriot went back in and everything was good until about a week later....same thing. S7 says the card is corrupted but it's not and works fine after removing and replacing. Haven't had time to call Samsung support but obviously this looks like an ongoing issue. So frustrating since this phone has been so flawless otherwise.
My S7 is in for repair as I type this. It's 6 weeks old. I had a 64GB SD card that I had used in my S5 for 18 months with no issues. I didn't have an S6 due to lack of SD slot and not waterproof. At 3 weeks old, the 64GB card developed a problem. I removed it from my S7, put it in my laptop, only to find it was corrupted, and I couldn't do anything with it. I put it down to being one of those things, and bought a 128GB SD. 3 weeks in again, and exactly the same fault! It is a hardware issue with the S7. I put my 32GB SD card in from my LG Leon, and the S7 wouldn't read that either. Be interesting to see what Samsung will do about replacing cards that have been destroyed by a phone!
Think i might be facing the same problem. When i put in a Sd card my phone freezes up a couple of times a day and without a sd card it running fine. I even think it messed up my first sd card because even after a format i cant write files bigger then 1 gb onto the card without getting a error on the computer. Also i can only do a quick format and if i do a full/long one it will eject the drive and fails every time. Im to scared to try a new sd card and think ill send this one back for warranty.
corrupt sd card
i have same problem with A7(2016) but i use 64GB U3 kodak SD card. it works fine until last week. i saw that i cant play musics so open memory by ES file Explorer and it says that empty. but when connect it to my loptop it had no problem and i find some files that recently created and remove files with 0 byte size. then connect memory to my phone it works nice but some day later the sd corrupts again and i repeat every thing i do last time and it work but sometime later corrupt again. i am confused how i can stop this cycle
help if can please
sorry my english language is not good
Every phone I've had, every forum for that phone, complains of issues with Samsung cards, I would never touch Samsung cards. I've never had an SD card corrupt or fail but then i've never bought a Samsung card.
Got the same problem. Every time I reboot or unmount the external sd-card, the card becomes "corrupted". When I put the card in my PC it's just fine. I can read and write to the card.
I've got the 128gb sd card from Samsung (got it for free with the purchase of the phone).
Getting sick and tired of having manually backup and restore to my SD-card when I reboot my phone. Does anyone has a solution for this?
**EDIT
This must be software related, since when I do not reboot, the SD-card works perfectly fine. It only happens when I reboot or unmount.
had the same problem in my s7, it turned out for me the culprit is when I enable the pics saving to extsd option in camera. this corrupts my extsd.
before extsd it worked perfectly fine for days and weeks and survived plenty of reboots in the S7 (and in my previous phones as well), but as soon as I enabled the pics saving from camera to extsd option in the s7, at next reboot the message about corrupted camera came out. I can replicate this problem with these exact steps, so it is 100% sw issue for me, and related to that option in camera settings... if I use my intsd for camera pics, everything works just fine, I can see and access all my other content in the extsd etc.......
Are these samsung evo+ 128gig cards compatible?
The card and packaging look legit and I purchased from amazon (not third party). Manufactured in korea, white edges, valid serial code.
It passed a h2testw test indicating its not fake.
In my phone it cannot format.
I tried formatting in storage settings, says error 13.
In twrp it says "error : 1" and space on card always reported as 0.
If I insert the sdcard to my pc via a usb stick, it can be formatted fine.
Also on the sdcard partition section of twrp, the card shows (with capacity of 0) but cannot be selected.
Additional info
If I insert my older 64gig sdcard phone can use it fine so sdcard slot not damaged.
TWRP seems to act as if there is no sdcard there.
When the phone is booted, the sdcard now doesnt even show in storage screen, however disk info pro shows a unmounted 119gig sdcard, so the card is been detected but it seems for some reason the phone doesnt want to accept it.
I am now rerunning the h2testw again on pc.
So on samsung's official site one of 2 reviews said he had same issue, not working in S7 but working on PC and tablets.
Then I find another site that says someone has it working fine.
I find it odd samsung would make an sd card that doesnt work in their flagship phone, am I the only one here to try their 128 gig card?

Hi mate
That is odd , I have a Evo 128G Pro + and works just fine...
indeed and works in my s5 also wtf (photo)
so works on pc and s5 but not s7
but 64 gig works fine in s7
i guess i may have partial faulty card slot that doesnt affect 64 gig card somehow?
i also considered seating issue as this tray system is bit flimsy but reseated it dozen times now
also attaching twrp log
Is it possible installed rom could break it? I would think installed rom have no affect on TWRP side, I did already try to see if superstock kernel instead of superkernel works but has no affect.

Anything is possible, I have a Superstock rom, with superstock kernel from same dev and is working fine..........
If you feel like it you can always , do a nandroid (TWRP) , flash a stock rom do the test and confirm if it is a rom issue or a hardware issue, afterwards re install TWRP and your nandroid backup--
Still broken with superstock rom
So I guess either issue with card or phone, sadly it does seem phone is more likely, I dont know if could be resolved with carrier as I rooted phone. I will exchange sdcard first tho and hope that resolves it.
Also in past if there is issue with sdcard it has said sdcard corrupted, on this issue it says sdcard unsupported.
format error is this with 0 hits on search "400 106 command failed"
--edit--
after I ammended post with phone sitting idle I did yet another format which then reached 100%
However card isnt working, now shows the size and says corrupted, everytime I hit format now it reaches 100% but remains unuseable.
--edit --
Now got a 400 113 command failed and asking me to insert sdcard.
Phone still seems to have superman bootloader, if I reboot the superman logo appears at start.

Strange.....
Did you ever use this card with your phone when it was stock? why dont you go full stock (Odin) and check? maybe something went wrong when flashing TWRP or custom rom
I have now reflashed the bootloader and also tried older bootloaders, that got rid of the superman bootloader, still a no go, but I think I have discovered something.
If I insert the 64gig card and pull it out again, it always remains snug in the tray.
With the 128 gig card its always raised, I have to sort of push it down again, but always raised again when pulling it out.

That for sure could be an issue, when you said raised is because is curved or is because is flat and do not fit right on the tray?
and now it isnt working in the S5 which has made me happy as the evidence is now pointing to the card. TWRP just waits forever when loading if its inserted on the S5.
I have already ordered a replacement and arranged return, just need to haggle amazon for getting my delivery refunded for the second order.
Also the card came from a 3rd party fulfilled from amazon, this time I made sure to select amazon direct. I also dont think I will be testing it in PC first as I am been paranoid of the sdcard usb stick damaged the card physically.
Its raised as in it seems to be pushed upwards after inserted in phone, the card does fit in the tray but seems loose and not so tight. Examining the cards closer they seem to have slightly different thicknesses.
--edit--
Also dead in PC

That makes more sense , they do look flimsy the less you touch them the better , glad you solved the mystery
new card is here and working. It fits much tighter, even tighter than the 64 gig card. I have split the card 50/50 between portable and adoptable storage and in process of copying files back to it from PC. Is a relief as didnt fancy the situation of a broken sd card slot on phone.

Glad is working mate ,thanks for the info
is the card accessible on other devices and in PC's?
Is it formated in FAT32?
You can try fix format using an external tool such as:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/index.html
http://www.easeus.com/storage-media-recovery/sd-card-usb-drive-pen-drive-0-bytes.html
http://www.easeus.com/data-recovery/fix-sd-card-0-bytes.html
I once format a microsd which after the proccess start showing as being just a few kb capacity and fully used.
Only after a while I discovered a tool that was capable of restoring and fixing the card. I think was the tool from the first link above.
I would try formatting the card and restore to factory state
