Experience Flashing Galaxy S6 Stock Rom - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone currently will not boot, cannot enter recovery and I can only access Odin. From my research so far I've been getting fairly mixed results as to whether flashing the stock s6 rom will erase my photos (which is what Im trying to recover).
I'm considering flashing now but I was wondering if any of you have had experience with flashing the samsung galaxy s6 using a stock rom via Odin and whether it deleted your photos from your gallery.

If your device SM-G920F;

Once the download has been finished, extract the zip file that you've downloaded via SamFirm.
After unzip it, download and run this;
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3804544&d=1467772303
When you open it, press AP and select file which starts with G920 from downloaded (from Samfirm) and extacted zip folder.
When you set the file to Odin, press and hold volume down + home button + power button until you see a warning screen on your phone. When you see it, release the buttons and press volume up button once. You'll see a big android logo and big "Downloading..." text.
Connect your phone to your PC in download mode (the "Downloading..." screnn) and click "Start" on Odin.
When you see "PASS" text on Odin, disconnect the cable.
This method will reflash the firmware of your device WITHOUT messing any personal data on your device.

hi, how are you? I'm also trying to flash the stock rom on a SM-G920F but I get the following error when I follow your steps:
SamFirm v0.3.6.0
Could not fetch info for SM-G920F/PHN. Please verify the input or use manual info

It's working just fine for me;

Will this work on the SM-G920W8? as that's what my model is. More specifically G920W8VLU2AOG2

You have to download too:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)
and
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)

Galaxy S6 not booting (after using Dr fone Lock Screen removal), how can I fix this?

Hi,
My Galaxy S6 fingerprint scanner stopped working and I could not remember my backup password (as I was not using any Google account or Samsung account on this phone, these 2 backup options were not possible) .
As I have important photos in my Galaxy S6 internal memory, I purchased and used the tool Wondershare Dr fone Lock screen removal (https://drfone.wondershare.com/android-lock-screen-removal.html). The website says: "Remove Android lock screen in 5 minutes.", "Work for Samsung Galaxy S/Note/Tab series."
It did not remove the screen lock, although my Galaxy S6 G920F model is listed as compatible by dr.fone. I got the message "Flash recovery package failed.":
The worst is that now my phone is not booting ! My phone is blocked on this screen:
with this message: "Recovering...
Your device will be in the recovery mode all though the recovery process.
Tip: If the data recovery is completed but your device keeps in frozen stat. Please restart our product and connect your deice, the program will prompt you to exist recovery mode"
I can still go into 'Download mode', but I can no longer go into 'Recovery mode'.
What should I do to be able to boot again from my Galaxy S6 ? (If I am still able to retrieve my photos great, but it is not an issue now as I have an even worst problem as this phone is not working any more :'( )
Regards, Chris

I have just looked what is Samfirm and I have found this:
"Note: Samfirm tool is deprecated. Please use fw.updato.com ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/how-to/updato-largest-online-firmware-archive-t3413785 )" (cf https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647 )
What is the difference between Samfirm and Updato?
If I am correct, your proposition will also modify my Android OS, is that correct?
Is it possible to solve my Galaxy S6 issue by keeping the Android OS I had?

You already modified the Android OS using the application that you've bought.
SamFirm is an Windows executable to download factory firmware for Samsung devices directly from Samsung servers. So, my procedure will restore your Android OS completely to stock.

Thank you! I have been able to restore my phone thanks to your advice to use ODIN and Samfirm to get the stock firmware.
I was very surprised, my photos were still present on my phone internal memory, despite the new firmware flash. Which memory is overwritten during the flash of a new firmware?
Stuck on "Recovering..." screen

Same EXACT problem! Glad I found this page. But how did you get Odin to flash your S6 with the phone stuck on the green android with the "Recovering...." screen? Odin adds my phone and begins "file analysis" and "setup connection" but then stays like that for hours. I can't seem to get my phone to the download screen at all. I have tried disconnected the battery and reconnecting it too.
I was able to go to download mode by pressing Home+Power button for 2s as good as I can remember. I had no difficulty to go to download mode.

Thanks. I tried, but power + home doesn't do anything on mine. home + power + volume down doesn't do anything either. I'm still stuck on the green android with "Recovering..." I have tried all button combinations, by now, I think. Pressing power + volume down restarts the phone, or at least goes back to the Samsung startup screen, but it always brings me back to the android with "Recovering...."

Finally got into download mode somehow, replaced the os with odin. However now I see a generic Samsung screen/phone without any of my photos? How do I get my photos and videos back?

Stock ROM cannot be flashed at all

I have gone through several xda forums. But I think my problem ia different. Whenever I try to flash stock ROM through ODIN into my Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F) It checks everything as it would normally. When I press start, it goes very fast showing system.img recovery.img and blah blah all. But all of a sudden, it fails
While flashing, it doesn't even take enough time that is required to flash a normal Galaxy S6. All those texts are written in the ODIN window within 10 seconds.
I flashed Noble Nougat Experience 3.1 by @AlexisXDA
But OTG isn't working. So I wanted to revert. But now, I can't. Any help would be appreciated
What's the error in Odin when it fails?
This can determine where the fault lies, also try another usb cable as I've had flash fails due to usb cable.
In the mean time you could try one of the other stock custom roms, otg doesn't work in NNE because of the kernel.

Touch Input is totally messed up

Hey guys I have a g920f and was just messing around yesterday
I installed this rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/development/rom-revolution-note7-port-t3461397 with TWRP and now my touch input is all messed up, even in TWRP. I cant swipe in twrp so I flashed some old version of philz where i managed to format everything, I even reflashed my pit and reflashed TWRP but the touch input is still totally messed up
I can't even swipe in TWRP so if I cant fix this my phone is going to be a brick. **** xD
Anyone encountered this before?
Also I cannot restore via Smart Switch or Kies because it says unsupported device. I guess its because i didn't play by samsung rules?

Stock rom

Since I can't find the thread about How to return to stock here. I've decided to follow instructions on youtube. Downloaded the right variant for my model.
