Just Purchased two S7's but one of them is running Marshmallow instead of Nougat - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I just purchased two Dual-sim S7's from the same store on the same day in Hong Kong. One of them is running Nougat out of the box, while the other one is still on Marshmallow, with no updates available via OTA.
I've tried the following but none have allowed it to find an update:
Search for updates with and without a SIM card in the phone
Factory Reset from settings
Wipe cache partition/data/factory reset from Recovery
The Nougat phone shows:
"The latest updates have already been installed.
Current version:
G930FXXU1DQD8/
G930FOZS1DQD8/
G930FXXU1DQC8"
The Marshmallow phone shows:
"The latest updates have already been installed.
Current version:
G930FXXU1BPKF/
G930F0ZS1BPKF/
G930FXXU1DQQC8"
It seems 7.0 for this model was released at least 3 months ago and I'm surprised the Marshmallow phone still can't update to Nougat. Does anyone have any idea why Nougat is still not available for that phone, or can anyone point me in the right direction as to updating it to 7.0? Thank you in advanced.
I don't feel comfortable with the process of flashing firmware but if it comes to that scenario, I'll do it.

I do want both phones to run the exact same firmware. Would it be safe to assume that I can flash G930FXXU1DQD8(Same firmware as the Nougat unit) to the Marshmallow phone?

Like I say, check in download mode to ensure they are both the same models
Firmware model numbers, boxes, stickers etc can all be faked and often are, download mode cannot be faked
As long as they are both the same, yes you can flash the same firmware on both
Samsung Smart Switch might be able to update the MM one too

Manually updating to Oreo

Hi.
I have a G955U Galaxy S8+ AT&T Factory Unlocked on Android 7.0
Baseband Version: G955USQU1AQD9
Android Security Patch Level - April 1, 2017
I no longer live in the US, and currently in the Philippines. Phone works great and the signal is too and all, but I cannot get OTA updates.
Can I just download the firmware file in this thread and flash straight through ODIN, or do I need to follow another guide?
Thanks in advance
You can, however there are specific sequences to follow, so you have to update in firmware released order.
I encountered the same problem so I downloaded odin that worked for Nougat and loaded all version to BRB1 I think it is and then went to Oreo. Currently on CRC5.
Another note, when you are about to hit Oreo you will need to download the odin that works for Oreo. It can be found in the CRC5 thread.
Happy Updating

Is this really necessary?
I want to update to Oreo as well but since I'm AT&T unlocked and not currently using AT&T network I'm stuck in the June software update so I'll have to flash like 7-8 firmware updates and each one being about 2-3 GB to download.
Also, is there any stock Samsung firmware I can download so I can avoid having to manually flash every software update? Or am I just stuck with the AT&T firmware?
Thanks in advance.
I'm also having this problem. Need to flash the updates through ODIN but I can't find every single stock file leading up to BR9 on this site. Do I really have flash them all? Or is there another way?

US Galaxy S8+ OTA software update not working / alternative way. SOLVED

What I want to do: I was trying to OTA update my phone software to the latest, but it seems I am behind on many updates. On the AT&T website, I saw that I need the previous updates installed first, in order to get the latest ones. I have to go in order.
Problem: Everytime I try to do a software update from the settings, it says “Current software is up to date.” It’s been saying that for over a year now. I can’t even get the updates from last year.
So is there a way I can flash one of the stock firmware updates from last year on to my phone with Odin and see if it will fix the ‘over the air’ updates? Or can I just skip to the most recent firmware and flash that one.
By the way, I have never done anything like this to my phone before, so I am a bit nervous, but I want to get this problem fixed so I would love if someone helped me out. I did see some articles online about flashing stock firmwares, that’s how I learned about Odin.
If this is doable, can someone please link me to a thorough tutorial on this process? If it isn’t, can you guys recommend another way of getting to the latest 8.0 stock firmware?
My phone right now:

If you are using the AT&T S8+ outside of the USA, you will not get any OTA updates due to AT&T update policy. What you want to do is flash the Unlocked firmware and you will be good. Search for carrier switching thread and follow it.

You can Odin flash CRG3 and the next OTA should be CRHI, so once you go thru settings, check for updates it should want to go to CRHI. And then you should be in the Update path to receive OTA's automatically

Thanks, so is it okay to flash it with the latest version of Odin? Also, do you mind linking me with an up to date / reliable tutorial on this? This is my first time attempting to do something like this.
One more thing, on Sammobile, there is only one firmware available for at&t, and it's the oldest one.

Okay, and is it okay if I flash from a firmware from May 2018? It's about 4 months old. Would I be able to OTA update from there on? Also, what is AT&T userdata? I came across it in this thread and I was wondering. https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s8+/how-to/g955u-att-stock-odin-files-firmware-t3769140

Yes you can use this firmware and start to receive updates, User data I'm not 100% sure but I think its supposed to flash your data so you wont have to reinstall everything but I heard it dosent work for At&t it will still do a complete wipe before install.

how to choose the official oreo rom for s7 edge

i am new here and i am in delima as a friend of mine gave me a s7 edge and it was on android version 6.0. i tried the system update but it says the system is up to date which is not possible as oreo for s7 is already released . as this phone will be my daily driver so i want it to have stable latest oreo and i tried to install it manually but i am confused as there are so many versions of oreo for s7 edge. my model is SM-G935T and it is unlocked. i tried to find it in sites like updato but it shows different pda numbers . so what should i check in order to choose the best custome rom. does pda matter in choosing android version for an unlocked phone? help me please.

Just because there are updates available for the S7 doesn't mean that all S7 devices get the update. It depends on the original carrier/network the device was distributed by and whether they pushed the update to the S7 devices on their network.
You can try manually downloading the update and then flash it via Odin. To find the updates for your device, go to Sammobile .com or samsung-updates .com, then use your devices model number to find the list of stock firmware for your device. Find the newest version for your region.

Confused while trying to update my phone

Hello everyone,
I have bought a used Samsung Galaxy S8+ from China. I have been using it for a few days and i havent noticed anything odd. I don't know the phones origin or for how long has it been used before I got it.
It is running on Android 7.0 (Nougat). Since this is an older version of android I've been thinking to update it to Android 8.0 (Oreo). But I know that the phone doesn't have the originl ROM installed on it since I am not able to update it from the settings app and I also noticed that Knox was tripped in Odin mode.
This is the part which confuses me: if i enter Odin download mode there is a section which tells you your model number, and for me it says SM-G955N but if I look at the back of the phone or in the settings app it says SM-G955FD.
I was planning to download custom ROM and just simply install it via Odin app on my pc.
I'm just worried that I don't mess up something on my phone since the model numbers don't match up. How do I install any software update from this point and does the missmatching model number influence it?
I would very much appreciate anyones help, thanks.
