I just updated from TWRP 3.1.0-2 to 3.1.1-0 to make sure I could install RROS. When I tried booting to recovery to flash RROS it was stuck at the TWRP logo. 3.1.0-2 worked fine, only this version is not working. Can I use an older version to flash RROS, if so can anyone give me a download link?
It actually worked fine, it just took 5 minutes to start it..
yes

Hi.
Today I wanted to upgrade from CM11 to CM12.1, but I had to upgrade the bootloader first. It all worked and I'm now on bootloader version 41.18.
When I flashed the ROM it flashed in 20 seconds from an USB stick. It seemed a little to fast. When I rebooted it worked fine and I was on Android 5.1.1, but after installing SuperSU and rebooting I stuck into a bootloop.
I'm now in a bootloop and when I try to enter the recovery the TWRP splash screen comes up, but then it goes into the bootloop again.
I have the XT1032 and my TWRP version is 2.8.6.0 and I have a TWRP backup from CM11
If someone could push me in the right direction how I can access TWRP then that would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Quick update
The phone now booted into TWRP, but when I do a restore to my backup the phone goes back to the bootloop. The same happens when I try to wipe.

I have the same issue, cannot get into twrp, how did you managed to boot into TWRP?
i had same issues in my moto g xt1032 i tried below CM12.1 works without issues.
go recovery --- wipe---- format data
and try step install steps like install rom zip & gapps
Ok, first what do you use to flash recovery, can you reflash recovery with the lastest TWRP version (2.8.7.0) and post back the logs here? Then tell me if you can get into recovery
Its common place that twrp cause bootloop with backups.
No problem try to
Install new twrp using fastboot mode it will be work fine
Hello,
I wanted to install a custom Rom on my Nexus 5 running Android 6.0 so I downloaded TWRP latest and unlocked the Bootloader and installed TWRP.
Now the OS doesn't bootup anymore and the TWRP starts but gets rebooted all the time.
Tried to install an older TWRP version 2.8.70 and sideloaded and installed Pure Nexus Rom but this doesn't fix the problem.
Wiping anything from TWRP gives error messages...
Anyonw can help please!?
OK I have the stock recovery now installed from Android 6.0 and the OS boots up with Pure Nexus... looks OK,...
Anyway what's the problem with TWRP now!?
I don't think so. TWRP 2.8.7.1 is working fine for months. Did you full wipe before flashing your custom rom? Did you flash something else?
U need to install twrp 2.8.4.0 first because twrp 2.8.7.1 can only re-write on twrp 2.8.4.0 or higher..its work fine for me at official google M

That happened to me way back when I first used TWRP. From the official TWRP thread:
"If you have just used fastboot oem unlock, you should let the device boot up normally first before trying to install TWRP."
I think if you don't boot fully once before trying to install TWRP, it loops like that.
Hi all,
Recently I updated my Nexus 5 from Lollipop to Marshmallow 6.0.1 (MMB29Q) - latest build.
everything stock works fine but, once I flash a customer recovery, in my case TWRP it stops working...I get either a startup loop or TWRP gets erased by stock recovery.
I tried various steps ...
flashed TWRP 2.8.7.1 - rebooted to boot loader was able to get into TWRP but, once I reboot system, everything works but TWRP is gone/erased and replaced by stock recovery?
Flash TWRP 2.8.7.1, then flash latest TWRP 3.0, reboot to boot loader and can get into TWRP but once i reboot into system, I am stuck on the initial boot loop.
I have to start from scratch of flashing system and boot etc to get past the loop and it still replaces TWRP with stock recovery.
I can always get into Fastboot but when I go to recovery it seems its being replaced by stock recovery.
anyone experiencing this issue? thanks for your help.
I guess I am doing something stupid but, not sure what...and thanks for your help
If you give more detail on the steps you are taking it will be easier for someone to help. Also, have you tried doing a factory reset when it bootloops?
thanks for the response..here are the details..
I had Lollipop with TWRP 2.8.7.1
yesterday, I downloaded latest build from android site...extracted all files....booted into bootloader and flashed all files..
rebooted - Marshmallow works perfectly...offcourse it not rooted yet or its locedback due to this flash
Scenario:1
So downloaded TWRP 2.8.7.1 and flashed it as recovery, no errors nothing...i rebooted to bootloader and went to recovery to confirm TWRP is there
I rebooted the system - TWRP gives option to root which I said yes so its rooted. I reboot system, this goes into bootloop - I wait for say 5-10 min in this loop mode and I see that adb can recognize the device but nothing else....its stuck in loop
when I force shut down by holding power button for few sec - and go back bootloader/recovery - TWRP is still there
***note*** I did factory wipe in TWRP but that did not fix above condition.
Scenario2:
exact same steps but after I flashed twrp2.8.7.1, I rebooted bootloader and flashed twrp 3.0 as well confirmed twrp 3.0 is flashed and rebooted system - phone start normally no issues - when I restart to bootloader - no TWRP exists, its replaced by stock recovery
Scenario 2, I tried couple of other ways and still the same thing happens - twrp 3.0 get erased.
not sure what I am doing wrong but TWRP doesn't stick
since this is my active device - i flash system.img and boot.img to get the phone to working condition
thanks for your help

Hi all
I decided to try RR 5.8.5 on my wife's old 1st-gen MotoG this evening. so I downloaded RR from https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-resurrection-remix-5-8-3-t3590536,
visited twrp.me and downloaded the latest TWRP for the Moto G (2013, Falcon).
The bootloader on this device is unlocked from previous fiddling I did so I simply booted into fastboot mode, flashed the recovery and then booted into TWRP as normal. I then flashed the RR, GAPPS along with Magisk v14 and proceeded to reboot.
The device then proceeded to bootloop so I tried entering recovery only to discover it kept looping back to the boot screen as well.
So I seem to be stuck with no ability to boot the OS or enter Recovery but Fastboot works fine. I tried reflashing the recovery but no dice.
Anyone have any ideas?
Hmmmmm, okay, so after reflashing recovery about 10 times I managed to get back in to TWRP. Going to try wiping and flashing just RR and GAPPS, since it seems this RR rom includes Magisk anyway...
Okay, disaster averted. It seems that installing Magisk v14.0 over Magisk v14.5 (which came bundled into the ROM) caused a minor explosion
Hi,
I am fixing a friends Shield Tablet (not K1) which I believe in on Android 4.4.
Before the Kill Switch was sent down, he tried to flash a custom ROM to avoid this. He had TWRP 2.8.x.x recovery installed.
He attempted something and the tablet stopped booting.
I tried to install LineageOS but it failed, so I installed the latest TWRP (flashed image in old version of TWRP). This caused it to hang on the black Nvidia logo!
I can still do volume down + power and get into a black screen with a few options (continue, fastboot protocol, recovery, reboot, power off). When I click into Recovery from there, nothing happens. Before flashing TWRP 3.x it worked.
I have now flashed TWRP 2.8.7.0 again and it boots to recovery again.
So have I done something bad by updated TWRP? Do I need to flash firmware first?
Thanks.
Try flashing this blob in your TWRP before you flash newer TWRP

Have you tried flashing latest TWRP (3.2.1-0) using fastboot, instead of within TWRP?
Yes I installed progressively newer BLOBs to update the fastboot mode and once I installed the latest, then the latest TWRP worked, and I could just flash LineageOS no problems!
