Hi,
I can certainly help you with it, as I was on the same place like you few months back .
First let me know, from where you have downloaded the ROM file ? Also tell the TWRP version currently installed on your OPO.

Hi,
I can help you with "Lineage OS", though the process remains the same for ResurrectionRemix.
I haven't tried ResurrectionRemix, hence cannot comment on that.
As for Lineage OS, I have been using it since the first nightly. And it is a very nice ROM, great stability & performance ... with minor bugs (which I'm sure gets fixed in coming builds), but it won't affect your day to day usage.
Let's do this again from scratch, and see if you get the same error again.
1. First of all, take backup of your phone ... all your important data.
2. Upgrade your TWRP version, download the latest one from this official link:
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/bacon/twrp-3.1.1-0-bacon.img
3. After Upgrading TWRP, go ahead and Download the latest Lineage OS Nightly ROM from this official link:
https://mirrorbits.lineageos.org/full/bacon/20170529/lineage-14.1-20170529-nightly-bacon-signed.zip
4. Download GApps from this official link:
http://opengapps.org/
Select "ARM" platform, then Android "7.1", and then Variant "Nano".
5. Copy the "Lineage OS" ROM file & the "GApps Nano" file to your Oneplus one device.
6. Boot into recovery (TWRP)
7. Inside TWRP, first go to option "Wipe". Under "Wipe", select 'Advanced Wipe'. On the next screen, select options 'Dalvik/ART Cache' + 'System' + 'Data' + 'Cache'. Please note : Do not select 'Internal Storage'.
Next, after selecting above options ... click "Swipe to WIPE".
8. Next, go back to TWRP home screen ... and select "Install".
9. Next, go to the location where you put the Lineage OS ROM zip file. Select it, and then "Swipe to Flash" at the bottom.
10. Hopefully if all goes well, the ROM will get installed. If not, and you see any error ... please take a screenshot of the error screen (if you have a spare camera handy) & post it here.
11. After installation, reboot to system ... Do not install GApps now.
12. After reboot, do the initial setup of your phone. Do not setup Google Account yet.
13. Once done, again reboot into TWRP Recovery, and flash the GApps (with the same process explained above).
14. Reboot & Enjoy!
That's the process I had followed ... and it worked for me without any errors on the very first attempt.
Please go step by step, and let me know how it works for you.
Good Luck :good:

Congrats ... good to hear that it worked for you.
Yes, the UI is almost the same. Unfortunately, there is no Theme engine on Lineage as of now, like it was on CM. You will definitely miss it like we all are. But I'm sure the Lineage Team will work on it soon.
But there is an option, you can install 'Substratum Theme Engine' from Playstore. But for that your phone should be Rooted. I don't like rooting my device, so I don't use it. But you can check with other fellow members here on XDA. There are many who use it. And I have heard good things about it. So if you're rooted, or OK with getting rooted ... then definitely go for it. I'm sharing the link below :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum
IMP : If you want to increase the stability & performance of your device to another level, then do install Franco Kernel. I'm already using it, and it has increased the performance of the device & the battery as well. I'm sure you will like it.

Franco Kernel Download link : https://kernels.franco-lnx.net/OnePlusOne/7.1.1/anyKernel/fk-r49-anykernel2.zip
Steps to Flash the Kernel :
1. Download Franco Kernel Zip from the above link.
2. Copy the Zip file to your device.
3. Get into TWRP recovery.
4. Click on Install, then select the downloaded Kernel Zip file.
5. Swipe to Flash at the bottom.
6. Once done, reboot to System.
7. You're done.
PS : Do not WIPE while doing the above Kernel Installation Process. We already did that while installing the ROM. Hence don't repeat it.

You're welcome ... don't forget to hit the "Thanks :good:" button to the post you like or has helped you in some way or other.
Also if you don't know but a new LOS build has arrived today. Don't forget to update your device. Here's the steps to do so :
1. Goto Settings -> About Phone -> Lineage OS updates
2. Once you go there, you will see latest nightly build "5 June 2017". Click on the DOWNLOAD button next to it.
3. Once it gets downloaded, it will ask you to install ... just go ahead with it.
4. The phone will reboot in TWRP mode, and the installation will go automatically. You don't need to do anything.
5. Once the process is over, the phone will reboot by itself.
The latest build has many bug fixes, and some new features. So update your device as soon as you can. This will enhance the device stability.

You mean you have already updated your device to the latest nightly build ? Flashing manually ?
The steps I suggested above is for OTA (Over the Air) update. See the attached screenshot.
When you hit that download button, the update file gets downloaded by itself to your device. And when the download finishes, a small popup window flashes on the screen ... which asks to install the update. And when you confirm it, the device will reboot in 4-5 seconds into TWRP recovery by itself. You don't have to do anything.
Once the TWRP recovery starts, the flashing process also starts by itself ... you don't have to do anything. And when that process finishes, the device will reboot again by itself ... and finally you will see the home screen of your phone.
The above process is for OTA. And I suggest you to do it that way only. Don't flash it manually anymore.

That's weird ... have you manually flashed the latest nightly or still waiting ? I will check & get back to you if this happens on my side too. For me it was always automatic.

i have already flashed the latest version. Do let me know, if you find a solution.:good:

I've been having problems flashing RR Nuget.
I initially was using an old version of TWRP, but upgraded to 3.1.1.0 bacon which didn't work, and downgraded to TWRP 3.1.0.0 bacon. None of the versions have made it past "patching unconditionally" about 30% progress bar. Once it hits that 30% mark it stops and will stay there for 8+ hours. The animation for the bar continues.
I also redownloaded the RR version, checked the MD5, and all looked good.
I tried flashing the Franco Kernel and was able to without any problem. It is just the ROM zip that fails.
I have also tried other versions of RR prior to RR-N-v5.8.3-20170527-bacon-Official.zip and have had no luck with those either.
Should I try a complete wipe / format of the data then start fresh? I initially thought it was just a TWRP problem, but I don't know at this point.

Hi,
You should do a fresh install. Follow these steps, and see if it works for you:
1. Take backup of all your important stuff from the device.
2. Downgrade your TWRP version to "twrp-3.0.2-0". I am using this version, and never faced any issues. So try & see if it works for you. Official download link is shared below:
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/bacon/twrp-3.0.2-0-bacon.img.html
3. Reboot into TWRP Recovery.
4. Goto "WIPE", then select "FORMAT DATA". Once the process completes, reboot to system.
5. It will take some time & the device will setup again. So be patient. Once the basic set-up is completed, attach your device to your PC & copy the ROM file "RR-N-v5.8.3-20170527-bacon-Official.zip".
6. Again reboot into TWRP Recovery.
7. Goto "WIPE", then "Advanced Wipe" ... and select options "Dalvik/ART Cache" + "System" + "Data" + "Cache" + "USB-OTG".
Make sure you DO NOT select the option "Internal Storage".
8. Once the options are selected ... "SWIPE TO WIPE" at the bottom.
9. Next, go back to TWRP HOME. Click on "INSTALL" ... browse to the location where you copies the RRemix ROM file. Select it, and then "SWIPE TO CONFIRM FLASH" at the bottom.
10. Hopefully, it should get installed ... if not, then take a screenshot & post it here.
Go step by step, and let me know how it goes ... Good Luck :good:

[GUIDE] Fully restore Moto G from GPE 4.4.4 to stock (and recover softbrick)

Please note: I know there are other guides here on XDA but none worked for me, so I'm writing this to help other stuck people.
Disclaimer: I tested this on my XT1032, I don't know if or how it will work on other variants. Following this guide you'll lose all data on your phone, make sure to backup important stuff. I'm not responsible for what you do to your phone following this guide (anyway if you're here probably you have not much to lose...)
Introduction
What happened: a couple of weeks ago I wanted to try GPE rom on my XT1032, so I flashed the appropriate rom for my device (4.4.3 KOT49H.M004) and then applied OTA (4.4.3 KOT49H.M004 to 4.4.4 KTU84P.M003). Today I decided to go back to stock, so I rebooted in bootloader mode and tried to flash stock 4.4.3.
Result: a bunch of fastboot errors, ranging from "wrong size partitions", to "preflash validation failed", to ... well I don't remember all of them, as I said they were a lot..
Then I tried older versions, I tried to reflash 4.4.3 GPE, I tried to follow guides, here on XDA and around the vast internet.. All with no luck. Until I found one and, long story short I did it. I'm back to stock 4.4.4 (flashed stock 4.4.3 and applied OTA)
I'm sharing this what I did to recover from the soft-brick, hoping to help someone. This guide is not a temporary workaround while waiting for full 4.4.4 GPE image, this will fully restore your Moto G.
Let's start
- Make sure you have fastboot drivers installed (if you managed to soft-brick it you probably have them already installed, otherwise you can get them here)
- Download and extract this
- Reboot your phone in fastboot mode (keep Volume Down and Power buttons pressed for about 5 seconds then release the power button) and plug it to the PC
- Open the extracted folder and run "GPE_XT1032_KOT49H.M004_CFC.bat". Wait for it to finish (ignore errors, they're normal), then reboot to bootloader again (choose Normal powerup and keep pressed Volume Down until it boots to bootloader again)
- Download and extract this (mirror)
- Open the extracted folder and run THE FILE "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.bat" (poorly chosen filenames, I know)
- Wait for it to finish, then choose "Recovery" item in bootloader and let it reboot to recovery.
- Go to "mounts and storage" and select "format cache", confirm, then select "format /data and /data/media", confirm.
- Go back to main menu and select "wipe data/factory", confirm.
- Return to the folder and run the file "adb push a.zip sdcard a.zip.bat", let it finish (it will take a couple of minutes, the window will close itself when done).
- From recovery select "install zip", then "choose zip from sd card" and select "a.zip". Let it finish, then go back to main menu and choose "power options", then "reboot to bootloader"
- Download and extract this (mirror)
- Open the extracted folder and run "flashall.bat". You should see no error (I got an error while it was flashing recovery but this is not important, what you should notice is that all the errors you got before are gone). Let it finish, then give it some time to boot.
Enjoy
You're done. Now you should have a stock 4.4.2 retail EU moto g. At this point you can flash the rom you want (for example, I flashed the original retail de, since my phone is german) without getting errors
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More or less I followed this, but I wrote the exact steps I made, I fixed wrong commands and uploaded a more complete version for last file

Edit: mega link is working. I suppose you're from Italy (me too), it's a DNS problem (mega has been blocked by AGCOM). you can follow this guide to change dns to google ones (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). When you downloaded the file you can set them back to auto. If someone can suggest an alternative good host (and possibly a way to directly upload from mega (I have a veeeeery slow upload bandwidth) I'll appreciate

Did you follow exactly the guide? Did you get errors while wiping or flashing a.zip from recovery?
flashing stock
maybe beacuse i have booted after flashing gpe... i needed to boot it beacuse adb gives me error (device not found)
so i will keep gpe

This is useful if you can't flash anything. If you can, you can just flash stock or custom ROM
i suceed come back to 4.4.2 stock!!! thank you!!!!

thanks for posting this fix and all the others involved. i'm on EU so now i have to get back to my regular 4.4.4 Google Play Edition. this is good till i can get that back. been trying for 2 weeks to unbrick this thing and now i have it. thanks again and to the member JcruzV who linked this post. and not to forget PhilZ. :good:

Didn't know this was linked in other threads
I hope this will be sticked or something, to avoid being forgotten in a couple of months. When I was searching how to unbrick I read of people who gave up and bought a replacement, wasting money when fortunately there is a solution
It did work!
I used Linux, so had to change a few things in the command files.
There are also two things:
1.
adb push a.zip /sdcard/a.zip - no apsce before the 2nd a.zip
2.
after the 3rd step recovery complains about "new ROM will overwrite recovery" - I have answered Yes.
I have got also another problem. Meanwhile I tried to recover my phone after the downgrade from 4.4.4 GPE to 4.4.2 Motorola ROM (before this thread), I have lost the IMEI... Currently it's still 0.
Anyone have an idea to recover this?

[Q] Need Help to Flash Cyanogenmod 11 to 11s on Chineses OnePlus one

Hi Team,
Just brought in a chinese version of OnePlus One flashed with CyanogenMod 11 , Went to cynaogen site and it seems the file available is "cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip" when most the site indicate the files without fast-boot , not sure if this would work.
Anyways i attempted to try it out and i copied the files to the SD card and when intop recovery mod using power + volume Down ( The Chinese guys has already rooted and flashed custom-recovery on the device ) , but to my suprise the the entire input of the screen was in Chinese.
So my question and the help needed is
+ How do i install or change the Custom-recovery to English .
+ Can anyone please provide me step by step procedure to install CyanogenMod 11s from CyanogenMod 11.
I know its lame , as this is my first ever time and would like to give it a go.
Thanks
Faisal
There are tutorials available on how to do this if you look for them.

Just follow tutorials on how to run adb and fastboot commands to root that thing manually.

If you're already rooted and you just need to change recovery just install TWRP manager from the play store and install the latest version of TWRP recovery from the app.
The version is 2.7.1.1 and your device is called bacon.
Happy flashing.
Then you can download CM11s rom zip file and flash it as any custom rom. As you're rooted use titanium backup to backup your apps (don't backup system data) in order to restore your applications after the upgrade as you will have to do a full wipe (data/cache/dalvik cache/boot/system) before installing CM11s.
Good luck bro!

Brilliant , thanks again DuckMcQUack , i will get that done tonight after i reach home.
One last question , Is " "cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip" avaiable at Cyanogen site the same as "cm-11.0-xxxxx-bacon-signed.zip" , since most of the site says the team cyanogen has removed the offical OnePlus One build from their site and the different forums also indicates files without fastboot keyword.

You should find a zip that can be installed from recovery, i think that those on the site you linked are only flashable in fastboot.
I hope someone will chime in and point you towards the right version, i never searched for it as i am totally rooted but stock as now.

Thanks Again , will keep you posted on my progress :good:
Finally flashed CM11s on the OPO.
Finally I have my first Custom ROM install done and feel so happy ( Yes i did face some issue , but it was a worth learning them on how to fix it ). :victory:
BIG SHOUT out to DuckMcQUack for helping me out, without your knowledge i would have not known about TWRP , thanks man , cant thank you enough . :good:
I have posted the steps that i followed ( below ) and the issues faced , maybe it can help in someone else (who is Novice like me) to flash CM11s on their OPO .
I will start with my Issues faced first before posting steps to install , so that people are aware of things that can go wrong if you don't follow the instruction properly.
ISSUE FACED:
1. After installing TWRP recovery and installing the image from the TWRP app ( Install TWRP option in the app ) even after selecting Bacon as the device name , rebooting into recovery mode , still showed me CWM in Chinese language ( spend one hour to figure this out on how to get this replaced )
2. After the fix of TWRP , rebooted the device on recovery mode and wiped the cache and formated the device , but for some reason my Internal Storage was also wiped out even the image that i copied to the storage, leaving my phone bricked and no OS to boot my phone ( spend 2 hours to figure this out , as i didn't have the adb-shell sorted before wiping the phone OS )
3. After getting things sorted and moving the image ( zip file ) to the storage , installing the zip file indicates " Partion Table Error " and spend almost 2 hours again to figure this out.
MY SETUP:
+ Sony Viao running Windows 8.1
+ OnePlus One Chinese Edition - SandStone Black ( 64 GB ) - Brought from OPPOMART
+ OnePlus One Already rooted
+ OnePlus One was running CynanogenMod 11
+ OnePlus One was using ClockWork Mod in chinese language.
TOOLS NEEDED:
+ TWRP Manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager
+ TWRP Manager Image: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/231
+ ADT bundle: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
+ CynanogenMod 11s: http://dist01.slc.cyngn.com/factory/bacon/cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed.zip
+ USB OTG ( Very Important as this saved my life ) : You can get from any local mobile store.
STEPS FOLLOWED:
1. Ensure your OPO is rooted , my device was already rooted by the seller so didnt have to follow any steps , im not going to provide any steps to root the device since i havent followed any and also haven't tested those steps to know what issues you would face.
Please do check the forum / google search on how to root OPO , once done follow the rest of the steps.
If you wanted to know how did i know my device was rooted , on CM11 ( that came with device ) on settings at the very bottom I had SuperUser settings.
2. Install TWRP , fastboot the device to install the image using ADT bundle->platform-tool to convert CWM Recovery to TWRP Recovery.
Deatils steps on how to do it is provided by youtuber "sakitech" ( Again a big thanks to him ) , check his video on how to change the CWM to TWRP : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnESTcH2ioA
Quick Tip , on OnePlus One
- To Fastboot its: Turn-off-the-device -> Power + VolumeUp ( together )
- To Enter in recoverymod its : Turn-off-the-device -> Power + VolumeDown ( together )
3. Once you have followed the steps , make sure you go through the options available in TWRP Recovery and also check if your phone detects the usb-otg ( a life-saver if your phone is bricked and dont want to go through sideloading the zip files to the phone using adb which is a pain )
- Power of the phone
- plug the usg-otg to the device
- hold power + volume down
- on the TWRP recovery page , click on mount and mount usb-otg
- hit back and then on advanced -> filemanager , check if you can view files in the usb-otg folder
- Back to the main menu , reboot the phone normally.
4. After downloading the file (Cyanogenmod 11s) files make sure the checksum ( md5 ) is the same as shown on the site .
To do so,
- On the windows command prompt ( windows key + R and type in cmd )
- navigate to the folder where you have downloaded the CM11s zip file ( cd <type-in-file-path> )
- Run md5 <type-in-CM11s-filename>
- The output should match ( i skipped this first and that ended up with a bad download ).
5. Copy those files to the phone storage and the USB stick ( to be used by usb-otg) , just in case.
6. Take backup of your device use Titanium backup if needed.
7. Reboot into recovery mode.
8. On TWRP recovery page ,
- Check the usb-otg is still working on the device and the TWRP is able to detect it and you are able to see the zip file ( CM11s ) that you just copied into it
- First wipe -> Format device -> swipe to confirm
- Second Wipe -> Advance Wipe -> check box everything ( except storage ) -> swipe to confirm.
- Main menu -> Reboot -> Reboot into Recovery ( It might ask during reboot , that do you want to install SuperUser ) -> swipe to confirm.
- Once the phone is rebooted into recovery .
- install zip -> provide the location of zip file -> swipe to confirm.
- Once done , On main menu -> reboot normally ( again might ask to install superuser ) -> swipe to confirm.
- If your phone doesnt turn on normally , then just hit the power button , the boot might take 5 minutes or so for the first time , once done , you have the CM 11s installed ...
Enjoy :laugh::good:

No problem mate.
As regarding the issue:
1. About your recovery being resetted over and over: In developer options are you sure that you had: Update CM recovery unchecked? This can be the case...I just forgot to tell you about it, I'm relatively new to OPO and I am still used to my old GS4 which didn't have such problem!
2. Maybe you formatted internal storage by mistake? If you do advanced wipe and select only cache/dalvik/data/system/ boot it shouldn't have happened.
3. No clue about the partition error, but I'm glad you sorted it out anyways!
Have fun :highfive:

1. I haven't checked that part , i left the app to do its bit , but it seems it might have not .
2. I made sure at least two to three time , that storage was not selected , but it wiped it even after unchecking it.
3. Yup not sure , might be a bad download , since my first download was of the size 473MB and the second ( good one ) was 464MB , so definitely there was a bad files that i downloaded.
Anyways all went well and happy with the new Flash , hopefully Cyanogemod send updates via OTA for the unofficial installation of CM 11s on OPO ...

Best ROM for ASUS TF300T for internet browsing and youtube

Hi everyone!
After three years of a very PAINFUL experience with my TF300T, I was about to throw it out of the window. But I actually thought that I could maybe try to install some custom ROM to make it work better.
The tablet is really almost unusable, because of the fact it is so slow. Youtube videos lags beyond imagination and often the audio desyncronizes with the video itself. Browsing experience is equally sluggish with either the stock browser and chrome.
I would like to ask you guys which ROM you think is the best for these things: Youtube watching and browsing. Of course I could use other apps, but this is the main purpose of the tablet for my actual needings.
I have been reading about Katkiss roms, but there are a few versions around and I really do not know anything about flashing roms and customizing android devices. This would actually be my very first time.
The only thing I did was reverting the tablet to Android 4.1 with the official Asus installation file. After a couple of days, noticing I wasn't experiencing any significant improvement, I let the tablet automatically update again to the latest 4.2 version through the update function.
Considering this, I would also kindly ask you to eventually link me the NOOB PROOF installation guides for the ROMs you will advice me to install. I am quite scared to just destroy the tablet
Thanks in advance to whoever will spend some time to bother answering me! And sorry for any grammar mistake I could have made writing this, english is not my native language.
Francesco
Being on the last Asus firmware update is a good condition to think about installing a custom rom on your tablet. However first of all you have to do your homework as follows:
1. Unlock your boot loader with the Asus unlock tool after download from the Asus web site,
2. Install the custom recovery Kang TWRP [email protected] (http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/recovery-twrp-t3046479). There is also the install instruction!
After done this both successfully you are ready to install one of the best custom rom ever "KatKiss Nougat 7.1 Release" http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/rom-t3453702. Download the latest Rom, Gapps and SuperSu there in post #1. Please follow the install instruction given by the developer in post #1 exactly . After that you will enjoy the new life of your tablet.

Thank you for your answer!
I have already downloaded the latest Asus unlock tool (version 8) and I'm waiting for the tablet to charge to 100% before doing anything.
I have also take a good look at the KatKiss Nougat 7.1 version 12 you linked me. I understand this version is quite new, so I guess it could be less stable and optimized than the older Marshmallow version. I have also read a few people complaining about wi-fi disconnect issues (which I would definitely hate to have).
I do not care about a specific android version for my tablet, I just want it to run smoothly and without any issues and headaches considering this, would you advice me to install the Marshmallow version or the latest Nougat one?

Finally it's up to you which one you are going to use. I had been on MM 6.0.1 since version#10. Now I have been on N 7.1.0 since version #6. I have never had any problems with WiFi, Audio, Calendar or something like that. All versions run very well, smoothly and stable.
However in both cases you need Kang TWRP in order to be able to format /data to F2FS. This gets the better performance.

Thanks again for the time you spend answering a total noob
At this point I would like to ask which version do you actually like the most, before deciding myself.
Plus, I'm getting ready to install everything, but I'd need some confirmations first.
I have just successfully unlocked the boot loader.
Now, to install the Kang TWRP, do I need to download something called "fastboot"? I read this on another guide, because the actual link to the Kang TWRP doesn't exactly tell me how to properly install it. Or at least, I feel like there are advanced instructions I can't fully understand.
After installing the Kang recovery, the guide says I should do these things:
1) do a full wipe , if you have issues make sure that you format /data (format is different than wipe). I guess I can do the WIPE from the recovery menu. Should I format /data after said wipe? If the answer is YES, how should I do that?
2) Change /data filesystem to f2fs. The guide once again doesn't tell me how should I change this thing.
3) Flash the rom. I guess I have to install the ROM from the recovery menu.
4) Flash the SuperSU zip. I assume I can do this from the recovery menu aswell
5)Flash gapps. Always from the recovery menu?
6) Wipe cache/dalvik. No additional info is provided, how should I do that?
7) Reboot
Thanks in advance for the clarifications eventually provided I feel like I'm just adventuring myself in a new, huge world.

First of all you need „Minimal ADB and Fastboot“. The USB driver must be installed on your PC.
Download “Minimal ADB and Fastboot”. Make a folder C:/Fastboot and extract it there and install it on your PC. Download Kang TWRP and put it into the folder C:/Fastboot and rename it to twrp.img
Start your device in fastboot mode and connect it with your PC. Open “Minimal ADB and Fastboot” and put in "fastboot devices". The device should appear as "xxx device".
Put in "fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.img" without " ".
After that you should have Kang TWRP. Format F2FS with TWRP: Wipe => Advanced wipe, check the box for data then click on Repair or change file system, then click F2FS. But /Data only not /System or /Cache!!!
Finally do all 7 steps. Flash rom, gapps and SuperSU in one run. Wipe dalvik/cache. After that reboot.

Thanks, really! You're very kind I'm already downloading everything needed.
Which version do you actually prefer? Are there any difference on the battery life between them?
And also, if I install for example Nougat, can I eventually revert to Marshmallow if I want to?

Which version do you actually prefer? Are there any difference on the battery life between them?

I'm trying to install the recovery, but it seems that something is going wrong.
This is what appears on the screen:
C:\Fastboot>fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.img
target didn't report max-download-size
sending 'recovery' (7126 KB)...
OKAY [ 2.805s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 8.019s]
finished. total time: 10.825s
After that, it seems that nothing has actually changed. I tried rebooting with C:\Fastboot>fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot but it just reboots normally. If I try going in recovery mode, I still have the old stock recovery mode.
What am I doing wrong?
(Ofc, in the meanwhile I'm pressing the thanks button )

What bootloader do you have? MUST BE ON A BOOTLOADER ENDING IN 27.1 or 27.5.
Please check starting fastboot by power on and volume down. In the left corner should appear "WW_epad-10.6.1.27.5".

EDIT: solved, I had to press volume UP to enter RCK!
It seems that everything went ok, but I got ERROR 70: insufficient space when installing gapps. How can I solve that?
Eventually figured it out myself, I had to take either the pico or nano version! Gonna do it all again

Thanks mate! Really!
I am experiencing an issue though. I am getting wi-fi disconnecting every couple of minutes, or even less. I've also written in the marshmallow thread, hoping to get some answer.
Is there a way to fix this? Will eventually the new build Nougat solve this?

I'm sorry, but I have no idea. Timduru suggests "Try increasing the group rekeying interval on your router".
If I were in your boots, I would try a clean installation of Nougatella to see whether it's solved or not.

Thanks as always for the suggestions.
I had some time today and flashed Nougatella. Unfortunately, the wi-fi issue it's still there. No sign of improvement at all.
I'm starting to get a bit mad on this. Is there any previous version without any known wifi issues? I am even open to try other ROMs. I just want my tablet to be good for internet browsing and youtube watching...

I'm so sorry for that because I was very hopeful the issue will be solved.
First of all, please check your tablet within another stable network like a free WiFi somewhere. If there is still the same trouble please make a logcat and send it to Timduru. Maybe it helps to figure out the cause. Using the terminal emulator: su ->logcat. Save the file as "logcat.txt".

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I don't actually have the time to test other wi-fi networks, and above all, it would still pass A LOT of time between my log sending to timduru and EVENTUALLY him taking care of the issue (provided he would).
I'd need a quick solution to make the tablet work again, considering I haven't been using it for days because of this wifi problem.
Would the Lollipop katkiss version work with the same recovery? Are there still people lamenting the same issue even on lollipop?
Can you please tell me if there are any other decent ROMs I can try with the same TWRP recovery?

dont install official twrp on existing twrp

Guys warning dont install official twrp on existing unofficial one it softbbricks the device i flashed fastboot rom and updated to 5.1.6 and followed the tutorial on official twrp to get it working
I just flashed the zip. I'm sure things go south of you flash the original .IMG by itself. I think you also have to reroot after flashing or you boot loop.

I literally just did. And it's totally fine. Just flashed the zip then rebooted recovery then reflashed magisk v16.0 zip then rebooted system. Zero issues whatsoever.
Where do you get oos 5.1.6?
BTW, you can flash official OTA in TWRP then just flash TWRP & magisk again afterwards.

No. I already had unofficial TWRP installed so I simply flashed the installer.
Here's exactly what I did:
1. Downloaded the official TWRP installer package
2. Hold power button, selected reboot, select recovery, tap to reboot.
3. In TWRP, confirm Lockscreen code. Select install & selected installer package swipe to flash.
4. Press home button, select reboot, select recovery, reboot.
5. In TWRP again (now official version) confirm Lockscreen code again, select install, select Magisk 16.0, swipe to flash.
6. Select reboot system. System reboots.
7. Go on XDA find this thread and say it worked fine.
8. This is where we are now. LOL
FYI... I used the unofficial TWRP provided by Zedomax (Max Lee from HighOnAndroid) originally. I didn't do all those other crazy versions.

Confirmed working fine on official twrp
Reboot recovery
Flash twrp installer zip (official)
Reboot recovery
Flash magisk 16.0
Wipe cache/davlik
Reboot system
*** DO NOT INSTALL TWRP when printed just reboot system
Profit
Rooted running official TWRP 3.2.1 enchilada ??
Alright, this is a bit confusing.
Can someone tell me if I can update to official TWRP from unofficial, without losing my data/settings? The method OP describes (via fastboot) resets all my data I guess? Wish I had never installed the unofficial version....
I have this unofficial version...
I had the unofficial twrp from the very same link you posted. No problem in updating to official TWRP. Just boot into recovery, install, select the official TWRP installer (forget the img file). Reboot in recovery again, install Magisk. Reboot to system. I did not lose any data or settings (keep always a backup of your important files, you'll never know).
Thanks for the quick reply! I dared to try it and I can confirm unofficial TWRP can indeed succesfull be overflashed with the official one. No bootloops, no errors!
Phew... I had a full nandroid backup, but I do not like the hassle of going through unbricking and such....
I had uninstalle Magisk beforehand, could be the trick?
I do not know why OP was not succesful, but it seems not a problem for everyone.
This thread really should be closed because the OP is 100% not true. If you get a softbrick, it's because you didn't install the official twrp correctly. The instructions are bit involved and I see many people skipping steps because they didn't read or don't see why they need to do anything different from previous phones.
Question I updated from an unofficial version. i followed instruction someone posted on here. But since the unofficial and official look exactly same how do I know I have official?
It does work, u just didn't do it right, u can install official TWRP over unofficial.
Well, depends on which unofficial one you use(d) .
The unofficial one I used was quite laggy on first start, I had to flash some additional zips to get it working right (see the link for install process). So concerning that one: when it works fine from start, you have the new one.

So I finally got LineageOS on my Pixel. how do i upgrade it when a new LOS comes out

So the A/B structure of the Pixel (I came from Nexus 5X) took some getting used to, not having a recovery partition was a new wrinkle, and the jimmy jammy required to unlock the bootloader (I bought a Verizon Pixel apparently) was a neat trick. So I got the Pixel bootloader unlocked, booted with TWRP, installed Lineage, rebooted to bootloader, fastboot booted to TWRP, installed TWRP and OpenGapps.. Excellent! Setup the phone, booted to TWRP and installed Magisk. eveything works! great phone!
Then, a week later there is an update to Lineage. So I copy the ZIP file to my phone, flash it and OpenGapps and reboot. Boom. all screwed up. no problem, I'll restore from the backup I made in TWRP. nope. bootloop. then I read that you restore BOOT,SYSTEM IMAGE,VENDOR IMAGE, and DATA. NOT all the partitions as I had naively thought. Turns out I boned the backup and didn't backup the DATA partition so the Restore works but all my setup stuff is gone. My fault.
I went through the entire process again. Phone is working fine. All is well. Heres the question: What is the appropriate method to upgrade Lineage when a new one is released? So that I end up with new lineage, updated OpenGapps, TWRP working, and Magisk keeping me rooted? I can just keep trying to figure it out but I dont want to keep starting at zero with my phone.
Thanks in advance. I searched diligently on the forums but it looks like not that many Pixel users use Lineage.
Cheers
d.
130 views and no one knows how you upgrade LineageOS? is anyone using Lineage on their Pixel? Really?
I just discovered Lineage OS for my VZW Pixel. What build did you use? If I can figure out how to install, I'll try playing with updating, too.
Where did you end up downloading LineageOS from? I'd be curious to try it as well.

I probably should have looked there. I didn't even realize they supported the pixel. It's been a while since I've messed with things.
I've been using LineageOS and it's great. Super stable compared to most of the other ROMs I've tested. These are the steps I take when upgrading to a newer build.
- reboot to recovery (TWRP)
- install lineage-15.1-xxx-nightly-sailfish-signed.zip (no wipe or anything beforehand)
- install twrp-pixel-installer-sailfish-xxx.zip
- return to TWRP main menu and select reboot, then Recovery (whenever it prompts me to install TWRP app I just hit "Do Not Install")
- once back in TWRP, install MindTheGapps-8.1.0-arm64-xxx.zip
- reboot to system (again, I always decline the TWRP app installation)
- once you've booted to system, reboot to recovery one last time.
- install Magisk-v17.x.zip
- reboot to system and you should be good to go.
I always have a recent backup from TitaniumBackup stored on my computer so if anything goes wrong I can do a clean install and reload all my apps.
awesome. I'll try that. I'm using 15.1 10/23/2018 version and I have backed up so I'll do it. one question, do you reboot between installing lineage zip and twrp installer?

No. Install TWRP immediately after installing the Lineage zip, before rebooting. Otherwise when you reboot to recovery it'll be the Lineage recovery and then you'll need a computer to send any other files you want to flash.
Also, they just started releasing builds every 24 hours. You might want to check the changelog every few days to see if there is anything new that's worthwhile. Some days there may actually not be any changes at all.
@CapriciousCrawdad
well I tried it today, just as you have it written in your post (other than what I assume was a typo where you say "return to lineage" in step 4 where I think you meant TWRP) and what it looks like is my working installation is on partition A and after installing as you specified it tried to boot on B and couldnt get past the Google screen. so I finally got it to reboot into TWRP and switched back to A and got my phone going again with my old October revision. the only difference is that I use OpenGApps and not MindTheApps. so tomorrow I'll try it with those.

Whoops. Indeed, that was a typo in step 4. I edited the post.
Not sure about your problem though... I do remember specifically reading that opengapps can cause some issues but I can't find the source of that info and I don't think that it had anything to do with updating the system. I'm on mobile now but I might have time to check it out tomorrow.
If you haven't already, I suggest you check out the official LineageOS thread for the Pixel and Pixel XL. There might be some helpful info there.

yes thats where i ended up. tried to update and got bootlooped, my backup didnt work for some reason (do i backup EFS partition also?) so i started again with the instructions in that post. i used the Gapps package from @razorloves and it all worked. setup my phone again and now it upgrades fine using the Lineage updater although i have to reinstall TWRP and reroot (using SuperSU from Lineage) when that happens. razorloves hasnt updated his google FI compatible Gapps package yet so i will see how/if i can update those when the times come. on a side note, im getting really good at setting up my pixel. got to look at the upside.
thanks for your suggestions.
