kitkat for honor 6x - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

i know this is stupid question but is there any chance to get kitkat for honor 6x because kitkat is pure android it supports everything without restrictions.
after lolipop we lost support for many apps
all of my favorite apps will no longer work.
is there any possibility for kitkat?

but windows 10 doesn't support all drivers we have to reboot pc with disable driver signature enforcement something like that. i have faced lot of issues when flashing os and with fastboot drivers which works awesome on w7. most annoying thing is microsoft spying on w10 and u cant stop it.

Erm.. I never had issues with drivers on my windows 10. I think you need to install the universal android drivers that are widely available on the internet. Regarding spying then since you are using an android which is a Google ptoduct, you cannot escape spying. Google is synonymous to spying

I even have this dream . Kitkat use dalvik vm and i feel it is smooth and easy to modify apps . Art has brought a lot of changes . If u want kitkat , u need to build cm11 . But this wont work in 99% cases ad u use a device tree from mm

Unfortunately no, because every smartphone (let's take the Galaxy s8 as an example), can't have a ROM That have an older version with what it came with, even if it came with 7.1, it can't have a custom ROM of 7.0

Android x86 4.4 KitKat available and working (except for WiFi)

EDIT 2: See post #21 for an update. From my research, it appears that WiFi will never work in Android on the Surface Pro.

EDIT 1: See post #13 for an update.
----------------------------------
Looks like it has some WiFi fixes for tablets. And since I'm hating the Win8 OS (for my purposes), I'm going to give this a shot.
Don't see anyone else on the forum that has tried this new 4.4.
I'm downloading it now.
http://www.android-x86.org/releases/releasenote-4-4-rc1
Key Features
The 4.4-RC1 release is based on the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat-MR1 release). We have fixed and added x86 specified code to let the system runs smoothly on x86 platforms, especially for netbooks or tablets. The key features contain
Integrate the ffmpeg as the stagefright-plugins to support much more multimedia files. Now we can play HD and full HD videos in apps.
Use the latest longterm stable kernel 3.10.30 with more drivers enabled. Most netbooks can run Android-x86 in the native resolution.
OpenGL ES hardware acceleration for AMD Radeon and Intel chipsets (not include the PowerVR chips).
Enhance the installer to support upgrade from previous versions (since ics-x86). The text based GUI installer supports ext3/ext2/ntfs/fat32 filesystems.
KitKat style lanucher (Launcher3).
Support Multi-touch, Wifi, Audio, Bluetooth, G-sensor and Camera.
Simulate sdcard by internal storage.
External usb drive and sdcard are auto mounted to /storage/usbX on plugging.
Support hybrid mode of iso images.
Multi-user support (max 8).
Support Ethernet (DHCP only).
Support VM like Qemu and VMware

I didn't say it worked on anything.
And RT is a definite "no". If it does work, it's Surface Pro only.
Bummer, 4.4 doesn't work for me.
I can run the Androidx86 4.3 without any problems.
But the 4.4 just does a kernel panic whenever I try to boot to it.
And there is no use running 4.3 since WiFi doesn't work on it.

Surface RT cannot boot any alternative operating system besides Windows RT and its 8.1 update.
Looks like the problem may be fixed with the next release.

Probably.
Looks like an efivar issue.
I also encountered efivar issue on other device.
It's probably buggy.
The option is not enabled in 4.3 kernel.
Will disable it in next release.
Thank you for the report.

Maybe if a developer here knows how to disable this "efivar" in the kernel, they could recompile the kernel for us Surface Pro users.
Do not know how long it will be before Android-x86 releases the next version.
Eddie, which installation tut did you use to get 4.3 running on the Pro? I looked at the Android-x86 EFI post and there seems to be a couple on there.
Also have had you boticed any sluggishness when running apps? I'm specifically interested in MCPE to play with my kids, but any info would be great.

I got it installed but did not use any of the guides.
I'd already wiped all original partitions from my hard disk.
So I was booting directly from USB stick.
I created an Ubuntu USB stick using the latest nightly of Ubuntu.
Then added an android folder and tossed all the Android 4.3 files into it.
And then modified the grub file using one online method or another. Don't remember which.
I didn't stick with it though because WiFi doesn't work (known issue) and therefore it's useless to me.
So, I can't help with any usage reports. Sorry.
Can we install the latest Android X86 on the Surface Pro 1?
Sony Vaio Flip 14A
I have installed newest version on vaio 14A and almost it is working perfectly . I installed it Sandisk mini usb 16GB .Graphic performance is better than Note 3 ( I have used several benchmark ) . I couldn't installed it on the device's SSD disk . Because it didn't see it . Biggest problem is power consumption and it is very high . Touch screen is very responsive . Auto rotation is not working ( I am using manual rotation) .
Okay, Android 4.4 is now "working" on the Surface Pro thanks to this thread:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/android-x86/GrPdnpa6XBM
BUT,,,, WiFi is still not working. Bummer.
Anyone know how to get a WiFi driver for the Surface Pro to work in Android? We could always recompile now that this is really the only outstanding issue.
I remembered that Android-IA 4.2.2 has working WiFi on the Surface Pro.
But I can't find the source for it, only the install files.
We can try to get the WiFi driver from it for the 4.4.

Rather than trying to extract the driver from the rerede build, why not just use the driver from the official linux kernel (kernel.org) located in drivers\net\wireless\mwifiex. Im a bit of a noob so I don't know how to do this or if it would even work or not.
Also, I tested out the rerede build and it is quite unstable. Wifi/sound doesn't work half the time, freezes after going in standby mode.

System update OFF

Hi, i can at Nexus 5, disable system updates on a lollipop? I want to have a KitKat, but in settings-phone- details download system updates is not an option to cancel the notice of the availability of OTA.
Other phones here have the option not to notice, nexus 5 no
Huh?
He wants to know how to stop the Lollipop OTA from coming through to his KitKat device. More precisely, he is concerned about the persistent notification.

And here we are getting impatient coz Google haven't given us the OTA update. Google really need to sort their issues out. People who want the OTA update should be able to get it and people who don't should be able to refuse it.
Google makes available the previous version of Android, but does not allow the previous version of the system have to leave. Why is it then makes available ???

Yes, your English is bad. I still don't understand what you are saying. The good folks at Google make factory images for older versions of Android available and what's your beef with that?
I want to have to stand in the Nexus 5, KitKat. And I do not know how to disable the warning system on new lollipop.
Here I wonder why Google makes available for all Nexus devices older version of Android, we can not be then in tlelefonu permanently.

3. 'tlelefonu' isn't a word. What are you trying to say here?
1. I dont anderstandt you.
2. My sister wants to update her favorite game supports only Dalvik. And she got used to the KitKat and wants a new environment, my sister does not like the lollipop system. The materials nor design is not like her to.

I believe what he is asking is:
1 - is there a way to stop kitkat from displaying that there is an update available.
2 - Why does Google make older versions available if, when you flash them, you still get a persistent notification to update.
His sister wants to stay on kitkat because her favorite game needs Dalvik and won't run on lollipop.

Ohhh, finally I get it. Well,
1. No, there isn't. Not without root.
2. Same reason why they send update notifications to 1% of the Nexus device user base, while the rest of us wait in agony. Look at your example for instance... you're being pestered about the 5.0 update even when you don't want it. A friend of mine, he's studying overseas and left his Nexus 7 with his 56 year old mother, when leaving his home country, for Skyping n stuff. His mom now keeps asking him what an "Android 5.0 System Update" is and how to get rid of the notification, while he bangs his head against the wall with his KitKat Nexus 5 and his d*ck in his hand.
lol sorry this icon -question mark , i make testing functions
Before the KitKat without errors, it took a month or two months? (4.4.3 Nexus5)
After this experience with Android, a sister like to wait for a stable release, or lollipop never want.
I am changing in my Motorola moto g settings for morelocale2, wets pm adb commands (non-root) settings. To cancel the update notification system on a lollipop pm command does not exist?
So I got it, just disable the app OTA. Happy, i go back KitKat
edit: my motorola has the option to disable OTA (in Settings -> Applications) but nexus 7 2012 my father anymore.
I think that the Nexus 5 will be the same problem
I found that when kit kat ignore the call for availability OTA, so after 14 days to report ...... and will KitKat is 4rever

SnoopSnitch is an Android app that collects and analyzes mobile radio data to make you aware of your mobile network security and to warn
you about threats like fake base stations (IMSI catchers), user tracking and over-the-air updates. With SnoopSnitch you can use the data collected in the GSM Security Map at gsmmap.org and contribute your own data to GSM Map.
This application currently only works on Android phones with a Qualcomm chipset and a stock Android ROM. It requires root priviliges to capture mobile network data.
Requirements:
Qualcomm-based Android phone (see list below)
Stock Android ROM, version 4.1 or later
Note: Unfortunately, custom Android ROMs like CyanogenMod are not supported, as they lack the drivers necessary to collect radio data.
Root privileges on phone
Tested Devices:
The following devices have been verified to work:
Samsung S3 Neo (GT-I9301I)
LG G2 (LG-D802)
Sony Xperia Z1 (C6903)
Samsung S5 (SM-G900F)
Motorola Moto E (Moto E)
Samsung S4 (Qualcomm variant)
It is very likely that other Qualcomm-based Android phones also work, if they are rooted and have a stock firmware.
Incompatible Devices:
The following devices have been found to be incompatible and can not be used with SnoopSnitch:
UNSUPPORTED: Every device without a Qualcomm chipset
UNSUPPORTED: Every device with custom ROM
UNSUPPORTED: Samsung Galaxy S2 & S3
UNSUPPORTED: Nexus 5
UNSUPPORTED: Huawei Ascend Y300

Possibly your kernel lacks the necessary support. For instance people with a Nexus 5 can flash this kernel: http://d-h.st/mmb (thanks to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/radio-enable-lte-band-3-nexus-5-d820-t2928561). Well, Carsten Nohl, one of the developers, said yesterday on 31C3, that on CustomROMS like CM certain proprietary drivers are missing, which are needed for getting certain debugging information. Later yesterday in a workshop on 31C3 participants found out, that on some CM11 Phones the app is working.
There the app worked on:
Samsung S3 Neo
Samsung S5
LG G2
Sony Xperia Z1
Motorola Moto E
and dind't work on
Samsung S2, S3, S4 and S5 Exynos
Nexus 5
Fairphone
you can watch the presentation from Nohl on 31C3 here:
http://media.ccc.de/browse/congress...830_-_mobile_self-defense_-_karsten_nohl.html
on my nexus5 with slimkat 8.20 it says:
"device /dev/diag does not exist"
About the compatible devices - I can confirm the app works on on Xperia V with the stock 4.3 Android. It gives no errors, but I have not yet encountered malicious GSM cells to verify the detection works ok.
Why do we have to make long distance calls and send sms to use this app?

Sure I did. It doesn't say why we have to call/sms a specific number and why we data can't be gathered from our every day call/sms and why data can't be sent to the test site through the internet rather than call/sms.

You need to flash a compatible kernel. http://d-h.st/mmb
Works on my SONY Xperia Z1 with CM11.
Though, when doing the test call my device was banned, for whatever reason....
Yeah I can (probably) confirm this with Z1 compact with CM 11. Works since day one I guess. The test works (around the first days incoming calls and sms did not, probably because of overload of the callingserver), but never had any sort of attacks. Now I'm in doubt if radio-part does not work with cm 11, as mentioned in the description, or there were zero attacks.
Another thing I observed. The software sometimes produces many wake-locks. But I guess thats normal if backgroundservice is active.
@ papperlapapp: Did you monitor any attacks (SS7 or silent sms)? Or even IMSI-catchers?
Installed the app without problems on my S5 with Phoenix ROM (Stock Based). However, when I start the active test, the app stops responding and android asks me several times if I want to close it. I chose no every time. Now I'm wondering if the tests are still running in the background or if the app just hang. Started the tests about 35 min ago, still waiting, absoluteley nothing happened yet.
Why not install something like https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=monitor&fdid=com.eolwral.osmonitor and see if that task is stil running?

AOSP rom isn't fully working yet. Even if it gets fully stable, we have to wait quite long time before that..
I would be so happy when we would get Marshmallow's Custom Rom's for Xperia M2. I guess it will take a lot of time like another year or so to appear on the internet fully functioning and working how it should. Also can someone explain what does AOSP mean ? I have heard this word a lot but don't know for what it is used, sorry, I'm new here.

AOSP (Android Open Source Program) is pure Android system without any google apps and services or any other additions.
In my personal opinion it's the best rom for mid-range device like we have. Despite lack of customizations.
One we get fully working AOSP I flash it immediately and I will compile it on my own with all updates from Google.

Well then it might be something for me because I hate this all bloat which comes with every smartphone you buy (Google Movie, Google Newsstand,Xperia Lounge and other crap like this). You said that AOSP is a pure Android system so does that mean after you install it, it lacks apps like Google Play or Gmail and Youtube ? Also is AOSP released by Google or some third party company and what do you mean by lack of customisation ?
I THINK
they are only for developers . we have to wait until some one build the stable system.. am I right?

Android Developer Preview Discussion Thread

Hey Guys,
Want to discuss about the latest android developer preview
Will share the findings here.
All are welcome to do it here.
Hope we can create a stable preview soon.
First of all, apps which need to pass a security check don't work in the current build:
- Netflix
- Pokemon Go
- Others?
* The new gesture navigations options can't be found yet under Settings > System > Gestures. Although you can find the 3 options if you search in the settings, you can't change it.
* Some settings can only be changed via the developer options (accent colors, icon shape).
* Signal bar is not visible in the notification bar
Yup.
And fortunately, i am not facing some problems which are mentioned on the Nokia's community page.
Some missing features which i noticed are -
1. Gestures
2.Buggy Download manager
3.VoLTE seems to be working but not completely. I can receive calls but not make calls and send/receive sms.
4.Camera works fine. However, its the vanilla version of Camera app provided by Qualcomm so nothing special expected from it. Nokia will replace that app with it's own in upcoming builds.
5.External storage like SD card is not accessible by third-party apps but only system apps compatible with Android Q . I guess there are some changes with Storage framework because of which apps are not able to access SD card. Checked this with Whatsapp, instagram.
6.Apps requiring Google certifications/safety net or something similar would not work because the OS is still in Development phase.
7.Fingerprint is working fine, but is slow.
8.Dark theme is not properly applied over settings app.
9.Files app crashes when refreshing.
If you are reading this and thinking to update to Android Q Dev Preview. I would like to clarify that the OS is still in development and may get even worse with every update.
So, if you are not ready to use other phone as a backup do not update to Q.
Definitely facing all the above mentioned issues, in addition to Whatsapp being unable to restore backups from Google drive.
Anyways i made the mistake as installing this as my daily driver... Do you guys have any idea if it's possible to rollback even if there's no official support for that?

just saw it... "We are currently unable to support rollback to Android 9 Pie. We hope to have manual rollback support available by 16 May 2019. The website will be updated as soon as manual rollback is available." https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_int/developer/
Manual roll

This is preview beta. Very unstable and more for developers. When Q OTA comes your hardware won't change. That's permanent. ?

as android app developer. want to start building up rom for our phone Nokia 8.1
not sure no body yet started discussion on this.
Nevermind...
There is any changes in Beta 5 OTA build? Because when I flashed developer preview manually, there was a serious bug, if I touch fingerprint sensor device was stopped working only reboot is option, even if device is just locked and if I touch on fingerprint device stopped working, so I simply rolled back to pie
Recently installed Android 10 OTA build version 00WW_4_070 (directly from pie). I see a working option to unlock the bootloader under the developer options page. Any devs working on rooting and/or a custom rom?

I installed the ota update (v5) last night. I had faced the same issue regarding the fingerprint sensor after manual install. For the time being, I see that the phone is working well. But when I m receiving calls, I am not able to answer right away. The phone app is freezing or disappearing in the background.
