There is no unlocking that is need to be done
as the Device is already Unlocked at the LTE band 41
However there are two versions of the Nexus 5 the North American and one for the rest of the world
North America:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19
LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41
Rest of World:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8
LTE: Bands: 1/3/5/7/8/20
Please make sure you do indeed have the North American version d280 and not the d281
if you do have the North American version try adding/checking your mobile operators APN settings if that does not work i suggest try to get a new Sim card
My phone is the U.S. version of LG-D820, I have replaced the China Mobile 4G SIM card, also opened a 4G package, but still only use 2G networks

Something wrong there because the 8974 radio wtr1605L can only manage 7 LTE frequencies

In which case, either
1) Google are wrong - The WRT1605L packaged within the 8974 for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 is capable of only 7 LTE bands. This is teh first chip that can do this.
2) Google are not being clear with their specs and perhaps omitting that a few carrier released versions are programmed differently.
Edit > Here is a D820 box, with 7 LTE bands listed on it:

N5 North America use with China Mobile 4g
Just picked up a China Mobile 4g card and like the user above am only able to use the edge service. They told me that I had to buy a phone form them to use the 4G service. Will be going back with somebody who speaks better Chinese eventually though.

Just go to Chinese forums of Nexus 5, there are plenty of discussion of it.
Due to
1. China Mobile have 3 bands (39/40/41, 41 is super set of 38) been allocated, and Nexus 5 supports only band 41, for LTE-TDD.
So, first of all, you MUST MAKE SURE China Mobile is USING band 41 to provide LTE-TDD where you have your tests.
2. Nexus 5 does not support TD-SCDMA, and it seems do not support FR-CSFB. (or China Mobile did not support it yet.)
So, N5 can not go to LTE automatically through the route: 2G (GSM) -> 3G (TDSCDMA) -> 4G(LTE-TDD).
You MUST using *#*#4636#*#*, select "LTE Only" to force it connect to LTE, and then using "LTE/GSM auto (PRL)" to enable it using CSFB for incoming/outgoing voice service.
Ensure you have 4G USIM card and enabled 4G service using SMS.
4G in mainland China
I live in China and am in the market for a new phone. My HTC Desire HD is getting rather cranky in its old age.
Investigating 4G here, I've found that the mainland uses its own band, which no other country uses. Everything I've read about it says that even if you buy a phone in Hong Kong, its 4G won't work here. Now, I have seen some phones advertised on HK websites that say they can use both HK and mainland 4G, but I haven't been able to confirm that on any manufacturer sites. Not to mention, they were substantially more expensive.
Luckily there are some Chinese brands that are really improving their wares. The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is one, and the XiaoMi Mi4 is another. I'm still wary of buying one though, mostly because, while it will have English, everything on it will be set up for Chinese consumers.
I'll keep looking into it because ideally, I'd really like to have a Nexus 6, or Droid Turbo with 4G that works here.

I'm not sure if the Nexus 5's chipset has bands that are compatible with the Chinese 4G standard TD-LTE (LTE TDD), this thread that talks about adding different bands not originally setup on the N5. Another LINK that may help that discusses the N5 on Chinese 4G networks you may need Google Translate.

I'm looking to get the Nexus 6, not the Nexus 5.
The Nexus 6 has a US version and an international version. From what I've found online, the international version will actually be able to use the Chinese mainland LTE bands! I'm quite happy about that!

[Q] Xiaomi MI4 FDD LTE version - LTE Bands

Hello friends,
I have an FDD-LTE MI4 and I live in Brazil.
I realized that the MI4 only works in the bands 1 and 3 of LTE, whereas in Brazil using the band 7, is there any way to unlock the other bands in MI4? I saw that this procedure is possible in other cells, but found nothing about the MI4.
I await response, and now thanks.

Pity no one has idea about this one. More xiaomi are vailable now throw sellers but it seems the LTE bands will not satisfy much countries.
I am in France and as you, if I buy I will not benefit from LTE...
I heard non-mtk models do support other bands but are locked because of licenses, don't know if true

B28 band on NXT-AL10 or any dual sim version

Is there any chance to get the B28 Lte band working on 64gb or 128gb chinese model by flashing the international modem firmware?
Only the 32gb international 1 sim model has this B28 band avalaible. I need the dual sim stuff and the B28 band...
In France this band will start to be used by providers from april. My provider will use principaly this band for LTE.
If anybody has an idea, i'm listening to it
no idea, wed first have to figure out of the LTE band support is hardware or software-based before we can answer this question
Yep, that's what i ment by this question... If anybody already knows if it's the same hardware for LTE support than in the L09 or not.
Hope we'll find out.
ideally, we could potentially manipulate the modem.img as to unlock any and all available bands supported by the hardware modem
That would be great... but i'm a newbie in the dev world... So i have no idea about how to process to test things...
And i'm still waiting my mate 8. Hope i'll get it next week.
Hello,
I am also interested in this subject, it would be a good solution to unlock this frequency ....
Hi ? can install chinis software on international
yep, it should work
Sent from my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10 using Tapatalk
Any news on this subject?
Just to let you know it seems that our mate 8 NXT L29 support the B28 band. Huawei made an update in february. You can see it here : http://m.huawei.com/be-frmobile/consumer/support/faqs/detail/index.htm?id=74232
Any news?? On B28

hi,
Just got my mate 8 al29 and try speedtest and no more than 20mb....with my note 7 samsung with speedtest I got 55-60mbp.....
I don't understant because each cellphone have band 4 and 7
Hmm yes, but does the Mate 8 explode?
The Mate 8 doesn't really have a menu to see what band is currently being used but my guess is they're on different bands.
I think because mate 8 is cat 6 and note 7 is cat 12
Hi martinjo24,
From wich country are you and what is your model ?
Rogers ,
canada..montreal
model al29
Unfortunately it seems that the only model compatible with LTE Advanced is L09 (single SIM) model.
Double SIM models (L29, AL10...) are only compatible with asian LTE-Advanced.
Your model should have both band 4 and 7 band can't agregate them. In your country your phone is cat.4.

FRD-L14 custome ROM for EU or india version

The L14 and L04 Honor 8s are not dual Sim, they only use the same sim trays as the dual Sim versions. One Sim and one micro SD card and be used. No you can't use a firmware which supports dual Sim to install and active dual Sim mode..
As for the frequency bands you need to check with the American and Indian Honor 8 and see which frequency are being used.. Just check on Honor America and Honor Indian homepages
Thanks. Many sites mention FRD-L14 premium dual sim phone specification, so wonder to activate dual sim.

Band 40 (2300) is missing in L14 usa version. Can I activate this band ?? And if I want to activate VOLTE capabilities, chipset used by honor 8 is listed in supported VOLTE service.

Once again you can't activate bands if they are not embedded into the radio components. As for VoLTE the is network and device dependant. So once again you have to see if you have a 4G Sim card, your service provider support it and your device...
