(all rights for the picture belong to Samsung)
I am starting a bounty for a Camera Mod for the stock camera app of the S8(+) [should be at least for the units with Samsung sensor, also at the moment Exynos only-G950F\G955F, because Snapdragon doesn't even have root].
Requirements for receiving the Bounty: basically what @zeroprobe did with the s7 but for our s8(+). https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/zero-camera-mod-v1-0-increased-bitrates-t3439870
SO:
-Increased Bitrates for ALL Video Modes
-Increased JPG quality for single and burst shots. (to 100%)
-other features are welcomed but not necessary for the bounty.
-multiple flashable Zips with increasing Video Bitrates: 20% increase, 50% increase and 100% (double original bitrate)
OR
-an App (.apk) that lets each user choose exactly what settings you want like that which zeroprobe did: https://play.google.com/store/apps/....camera_mod_samsung_s7_bitrate_settings&hl=en
NOTE: the developer should own a working s8 or s8+ because developing for a phone one does not have is dangerous.
DEADLINE FOR BOUNTY IS: 22th June (22.06.17) After that I will personally not care for this anymore so my personal donation will expire; if the rest of the donors will still want it then you clear that through PM because this thread will probably be deleted.
UPDATE 5th June : In the last few days, many people have expressed the wish (and contributed to the bounty) to also get the HDR+ mode of Google Pixel on the S8(+)...Personally I am not interested in this feature, so it won't be a requirement for MY donation (and Highspeed's). I will always write next to the donation amount if that specific user wants the HDR+ mode or not. So the Total Donation amount only tells half the truth..Read the Donor List!
For USERS\DONORS:
Please do not PM me for donations- Post in the thread and I will update a couple times a day to make sure your donation is added to the total.
Minimum donation amount per person: 5$\5€
Maximum donation amount per person:100$\100€
For the Bounty-hunter\Developer:
To claim the bounty:
Post photos/screenshots or youtube video with details, and step-by-step instructions.
Wait for validation/confirmation from other users.
Claim your bounty by PM from the donor list below (I will personally send the money via paypal-friends and family)

If you read this whole post and then you still call me a thief, it means your IQ is pretty laughable... (looking at you NeedleGames on page 4)

I will contribute $100 USD for an APK that unlocks the Google Camera's HDR+ mode (like NX Camera).

Doesn't the s8 have something similar, maybe not 9 pics in a row but similar?

that's a nice contribution, but if it doesn't have anything to do with samsungs stock camera app, and you are also not interested in unlocking higher bitrates for video and jpg quality 100% then I cannot add you to the list(it would be confusing for the potential Devs) ..you would have to make your own thread like I did..:good::angel:
EDIT: i have added you to the list..Please notify me if you changed your mind.

Hello??
is there anyway I can pay xdadevelopers to keep this thread on the first page? this thread is dying before it could even get started..:crying::crying: and compared to other posts this is actually promoting\encouraging\supporting development, not just posting that: I dropped my phone and now it's cracked (big surprise) or what is on my homescreen etc.. such trivial things.
It seems I'll have to bump it myself everyday..

I agree!! That's much better!
Google camera app
HDR+

interestingly enough, at least 2 guys think that it's normal that cheaper phones should have better cameras than our s8 ... (see poll votes above)... or are they just trolls?
The poll question was more of a rhetorical one...but some seem to not understand.
I will nonetheless still keep fighting to get what we deserve (namely an improvement over the s7's camera):good:

if you guys want to participate to the donation, you must explicitly say so(at least 5€\$)..otherwise it's just a comment\ wish..(and probably will remain just a wish)

Excellent post
Excellent post

It's also a matter of time..I am sure that eventually, in 1 or 2 years someone will do this mod for free, with no bounty or anything like that, but I am trying to bring this mod to the community(and to me) a lot sooner than that.. Because in 1-2 years the s8 will only be worth less than half it is now, it is unfair that those who bought it now for 900$ should have a phone that is not working at it's full potential for so long.. only getting the most out of it right before they switch to the next generation..

I add 20€ to the bounty pool for the unlocking of Pixel's HDR+ - I really want the S8, but I love the Pixel's HDR behaviour.

30 USD for HDR+

I will see what I can do. I don't know that much about developing all of this stuff, but I can usually figure it out a bit. Lets see what I can do. I will be working with the S8 system image from the latest G950F update.

Here is something that MIGHT work. I have a snapdragon variant so who knows. I had manually switched all of the bitrates. I can maybe make an app for it later, but for now try testing this. I do have to say, MAKE A BACKUP!!!!!!!!!! Make a backup of /system/etc/media_profiles.xml and /system/priv-app/SamsungCamera7. I don't have a restore flashable zip for it yet. If this works, great. If not report back and I can keep working. I will make an app for it once I know it works manually.

I doubled the bitrates for videos and also make it 100% photo quality I think. I just changed the numbers to the same one as the S7 mod.

When HTC and Samsung came out with burst camera in their quad core devices we were all excited by one of the camera feature "Burst shot mode"
But now thanks to Spritefish we can now have the same experience on our Android devices and you don't need to have the One X or S3
Fast Burst Camera has made its way onto the Play Store and it does exactly what we were looking for. Simply hold down the button and you can snap up to 30 frames in a single second if your device allows it. The free version works just fine, but has a few ads which can seem intrusive. For $4, you can buy the pro version which unlocks some additional features such as auto-focus and lighting settings. View the video below to see some real life experiences with the application and see if it could help you take some neat shots.
Note : due to the high speed, pictures are not taken in the highest resolution possible.

Seems a must-have app for my SGS2 CM9! Thx!
Lags and quality is inferior

This isn't new... it's old... very old. Still a great app nonetheless!

Great app! Does it take pictures in full quality though?
With that kind of pic resolutions, I might be better off by just shooting a video and extracting those frames manually afterwards.
Used the app on my galaxy note, I am amazed by its ability. Just the image quality needs improvement. I tried the lite version though, anyone see any difference in the pro version?
When I read the portal news piece I was anticipating a tool to take rapid fire full resolution pics. While my G2X doesn't have a dedicated camera processing chip but it is still a dual core Tegra phone. I was disappointed to continue reading and discover it was about an app I've had on my phone for nearly a year. Don't get me wrong, I really like the app but it wasn't what I was expecting. Kinda bummed because the stock ROM camera software was pretty good and could do six photo bursts at 2MB but the ROM sucked monkey balls. Still recommend fast bust camera a long a you have plenty of light.
Sent from my phone.

lower the resolution and it wont lag
and that app is made for high quality devices
The burst speed is incredible, no lag but the resolution is very low (800*480 insead of 2000*1600)
Envoyé depuis mon Blade
Yeah 800*480 with no lag really isn't impressive nowadays and the pictures are useless at that resolution.
Nice app. It would be great if we could adjust the shutter speed manually.

Note that this will give you a bad result, as the video is compressed and ripping pictures from this compressed stream will give pictures with compression artifacts in them.

This app was the free app of the day on Amazon last year, it is in no way new.
I used it for a while but image quality is not the best. Improve image quality and I may be tempted to give it another try.

you can enable 1280X720 in preferances->advanced and clicking on allow high resolutions
i get lag and quaility is a little low
Tempted to buy but not being able to test a proper res with focus is a bit dud.
103 Frames in about 12s (Gif cuts off the end a tad)
Fastest camera App is easy and free available on Android Market, I can take easily burst of pictures 5 up to 10 pictures per second. Fastest camera App good for my Smartphone.
I've been looking for this function in my phone. Always seemed odd that it didn't come with it out of the box...
Thanks for the app!

I'd like to ask you for that signature image actually. That layout looks nice, but I'd rather get a black background and text in some nice green colour. I'd apprecieate it if you could also add small Polish flag somewhere and a text that says "Click me to see my work on xda!".
That idea is good, but please feel free to do it whatever you would feel that would look good. I'm not that creative and you may come up with something better than I said.
PS. See that Boost the brightness news? That's also my work ^^
@olokos,
Answers to your questions (and a few questions of my own) below in red.
Thanks a lot man! My pleasure!
I'd like to ask you for that signature image actually. Is this meaning that you'd like my [custom-made] signature template?
That layout looks nice, but I'd rather get a black background and text in some nice green colour. Ahm, isn't that exactly what javelinanddart's signature is?
I'd appreciate it if you could also add small Polish flag somewhere and a text that says "Click me to see my work on xda!". Sure, I bet I could mess around a bit with it and see what I come up with.
That idea is good, but please feel free to do it whatever you would feel that would look good. I'm not that creative and you may come up with something better than I said. Great, glad my work's finally being recognized by at least a few people!
PS. See that "Boost the Brightness" news? That's also my work ^^ Wow, congratulations for getting on the portal!
Now a bit about myself, and a couple questions:
Aside from graphics editing (which I do plenty of), I've also done a substantial amount of dev work, but I don't get a lot of praise for it because it's all solely done for the Nook Touch - a low-priority device here. That's why I have so few post thanks. EDIT - Another reason I have only ~130 post thanks is that I'm a relatively new member, as I joined in early August of this year. I am hoping, however, that one day I will either become a Recognized Contributor like you (I really look up to you RCs ) for things like signature making and general website assistance, or a Recognized Developer.
When you became an RC, did you apply for the position, or did someone recommend you to the moderators?
Sorry for the novel!
EDIT - I'm working on a "rough draft" sigpic for you - I'm using your avatar as the green shade. I'll upload it in a little bit. Uploaded!

I am starting a Bounty for a feature that I and many others wish more than anything right now:
a Camera Mod for s7 edge Nougat (it's Beta3 right now, but I don't think Samsung will change anything in regard to how the camera app works in the final, official release).
I have the Exynos variant with the SONY sensor so the mod should definitely work at least on this setup (although I don't think that the snapdragon\Samsung sensor variants are very different or less potent).
This is not as hard as unlocking a bootloader on a locked phone, but it's not easy either..if it were, I would have done it myself until now..
Senior member @zeroprobe has already achieved this but only on marshmallow (SamsungCamera5 .apk) and has since abandoned the project.:crying:
Wanted features:
240 FPS Slowmotion video bitrate: at least* 125mbps (this is the feature I am most interested in..so if this is achieved, at least MY donation will be...well.. donated )
4K video bitrate: at least* 65mbps
2K video bitrate: at least* 45mbps
1080p 60fps: at least* 50mbps (I personally never use this, but I think other people want it so bounty can get bigger:victory
1080p 30fps:at least* 30mbps
720p 30fps: at least* 20mbps
JPG quality - 96 > 100
*Note: I would be happy to see even higher numbers if possible.
(optional)
-more than 10 sec. exposure time in manual mode.
It may be that the camera hardware doesn't allow more so this is NOT a requirement for the bounty.
Infos for the donors:
Minimum donation amount: 5 EURO \ 5$.
Please do not PM me for donations- Post in the thread and I will update a couple times a day to make sure your donation is added to the total.
Infos for the potential developer:
The TIMELIMIT: 20.12.2016 . After that date, the bounty expires (or at least my donation).
To claim the bounty:
Wait for validation/confirmation from another user (the more variants it works on, the faster you will get validation)
Claim your bounty by PM from the donor list below
The bounty will then be transferred individually VIA PAYPAL ("send money to friends and family option").

You have not done anything, and only want money ...
well it might be cool if in apk format. But flashable zip, with so many unrooted devices here, it might be tough to get..
The mod itself is fairly easy, I made a few versions for myself on Marshmallow. The problem is that there is currently no way I know of to apply a Nougat (v2) signature that matches the samsung rom which is needed for system apks. So as far as I'm aware, to run the mod you'd have to build a rom with signature verification disabled or bake the modded SamsungCamera6.apk into a re-signed rom.

@Lee82UK the problem is, that the SamsungCamera6.apk in all the new Roms starting with Note7 has a totally different structure.. i decompiled the apk and followed the instructions from zeroprobe but the files I had to mod weren't there... so the technic that worked on marshmallow won't work anymore..:crying:

If you wanted to test more, since GCam gradually improves overtime (thanks to the devs), feel free to visit the source link above. Also, if you found a working GCam, you can reply on this thread and post the link so that the others can test it.
Can you send me the full mode camera2test app from PlayStore report? Does portrait mode lag for you?
Thank you so much for creating this post, it clarifies a lot

Just got my g7 and was wondering if anybody had recommendations for settings? Using cstark version if that help
Somebody in a different G7 thread posted a Cstark Gcam port that has both the normal wide angle and front facing all in one Gcam port. if I can find it I'll link it here

Hello @Arnova8G2, I personally have the device and I am willing to give some time for the development as G7 doesn't have enough devs. I already have the tools, I know programming, but the only problem is I don't know where to start. Have tried looking at the log but it seems to be hard for me to trace it inside smali. The app closes immediately.
My objective is to make your GCam port or other's dev port to make it work in our device. I don't plan to add settings and such (but I can add WIDE angle switch).
APK use: N6PbsgfixPortrait-GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.2.apk (See log)
Thank you very much. I hope you can help me and the G7 community.

thanks a lot for your interest in developing for LG G7. i really hope others would follow suit
LG G7 has one of the best dimensions. Not too big, not too small. Right in between the smaller flagships (~70cm) and the bigger ones (~75cm). But it is so sad to see that this section here for LG G7 is like dead. I was considering to buy it and then flash the google camera (and maybe another ROM). But apparently the community is quite small. What a pity.
Are you planning to port NightSite feature from Pixel?
There is a fu24 version which is based on cstark27 t2 version. It just adds a bit more options.

@LameMonster82 have you tried any of the newer versions with this phone yet? Just wondering which one people have confirmed working before swapping from the original defcomg apk on this thread.

When I use this version, I can't take pictures with the 'rear' camera. I press the button but it won't snap anything.
I can record video fine.
I can take pictures with the "selfie" front camera.
But why not with the rear one? It just refuses to take a picture.

Have you set the HDR+ icon to On instead of Auto mode? That usually does the trick.

Have you toyed with the Resampling Method option under ''Experimental''? I have and there doesn't seem to be any change for me here. The long press switching camera add on works like a charm though

In addition to the changes in the setting already mentioned by Skullpluggery, I would recommend the following - speacially when using Cstark's...4.2t version:
Leave the HDR+ ON and not HDR+ Auto on main camera screen
Exposure time: Super Slow (this should reduce the noise greatly in many different indoor situations)
Frame count: Lowest (unfortunately any other upper frame count will render the shutter speed awkwardly slow)
Model: Maintain Nexus 6, but Pixel II XL (Marlin) also seems to work fine
Developer options tab - camera.diet_burst: check, camcoder.h265: check, camcoder.fastswitch: check
One more thing, not sure if it's only me, but HDR+ is not working for the selfie camera on any of the 3 suggested mods.
Just to be clear, this is just what worked for me - LG G7 running International OpenSource Northern Europe official ROM.

Hi,
I tried setting HDR to on and it still didn't take a picture with the rear camera
if i spam pressed the picture button, it would just get greyed out until i closed and reopened the app
I can try again but I'm really frustrated and stressed out right now with too many problems not relating to the phone.

see my post above. Maybe that can help - model set to Nexus 6 vs Pixel II XL.
try clearing the data of the app first on apps management and then work on the configs.
I'm trying the latest one, but it is super slow, also the shutter button stays gray as well

Now this, this really is something. Never have we had an Open Source camera that does reliable post processing. Congratulations on you and the team! Incredibly excited to see where this will be going, as the only other open source option was Open Camera, and to say that the UI was lacking would be an understatement. Are there any plans to introduce Video support with the same level of manual controls?
I tried it on my Redmi Note 9 Pro (joyeuse) running an Android 10 GSI and I'm impressed by the interface and features. It recognizes and switches successfully to three of the four sensors on the back. However, the UI is slightly compressed, leaving a gap at the bottom and making the preview look like a 16:9 image compressed to 4:3. That being said, the final images look great and I'm excited to try it out in different scenarios. I've attached two images with a banana for scale to see exactly what I mean.
Once again, thank you for working on this and I'm excited to see how you'll be improving the app!

Thank you for your feedback, but we really need new developers right now
Video with manual mode is planned, but not quite the same as in mcpro24

Is the update regularly uploaded on GitHub Releases Page too?
Photon vs Gcam. Both are taken in HDR.
Somehow the result is too bright and the file size is almost 3 times bigger than Gcam.
