I am starting a Bounty for a feature that I and many others wish more than anything right now:
a Camera Mod for s7 edge Nougat (it's Beta3 right now, but I don't think Samsung will change anything in regard to how the camera app works in the final, official release).
I have the Exynos variant with the SONY sensor so the mod should definitely work at least on this setup (although I don't think that the snapdragon\Samsung sensor variants are very different or less potent).
This is not as hard as unlocking a bootloader on a locked phone, but it's not easy either..if it were, I would have done it myself until now..
Senior member @zeroprobe has already achieved this but only on marshmallow (SamsungCamera5 .apk) and has since abandoned the project.:crying:
Wanted features:
240 FPS Slowmotion video bitrate: at least* 125mbps (this is the feature I am most interested in..so if this is achieved, at least MY donation will be...well.. donated )
4K video bitrate: at least* 65mbps
2K video bitrate: at least* 45mbps
1080p 60fps: at least* 50mbps (I personally never use this, but I think other people want it so bounty can get bigger:victory
1080p 30fps:at least* 30mbps
720p 30fps: at least* 20mbps
JPG quality - 96 > 100
*Note: I would be happy to see even higher numbers if possible.
(optional)
-more than 10 sec. exposure time in manual mode.
It may be that the camera hardware doesn't allow more so this is NOT a requirement for the bounty.
Infos for the donors:
Minimum donation amount: 5 EURO \ 5$.
Please do not PM me for donations- Post in the thread and I will update a couple times a day to make sure your donation is added to the total.
Infos for the potential developer:
The TIMELIMIT: 20.12.2016 . After that date, the bounty expires (or at least my donation).
To claim the bounty:
Wait for validation/confirmation from another user (the more variants it works on, the faster you will get validation)
Claim your bounty by PM from the donor list below
The bounty will then be transferred individually VIA PAYPAL ("send money to friends and family option").

You have not done anything, and only want money ...

well it might be cool if in apk format. But flashable zip, with so many unrooted devices here, it might be tough to get..

The mod itself is fairly easy, I made a few versions for myself on Marshmallow. The problem is that there is currently no way I know of to apply a Nougat (v2) signature that matches the samsung rom which is needed for system apks. So as far as I'm aware, to run the mod you'd have to build a rom with signature verification disabled or bake the modded SamsungCamera6.apk into a re-signed rom.

''I made a few versions for myself on Marshmallow''
@Lee82UK the problem is, that the SamsungCamera6.apk in all the new Roms starting with Note7 has a totally different structure.. i decompiled the apk and followed the instructions from zeroprobe but the files I had to mod weren't there... so the technic that worked on marshmallow won't work anymore..:crying:

Info:
New ScreenRecorder in town! This one performs perfectly on Android 4.4 KitKat. It uses the native "screenrecord" binary from 4.4 ROM which give very smooth results. (All ScreenRecords that are not using the "screenrecord" binary will not work on Android 4.4 KitKat). Ugly Icon will be replaced soon (first name was KitKat ScreenCast thats why the icon says 'KKSC', Icon and market name will be changed soon)
<-- BEFORE USING THE APP, PLEASE READ THE TEXT BELOW!!!!! -->
Note: While recording your device may become a bit laggy, Recorded video (when played on PC) is 100% smooth
Steps:
1. Fill in the path of the destination file. this may not include symlinks, a hard links to your sdcard is automatically placed in the first input field.
2. Choose a bitrate, the default given bitrate is 4000000, which is 4Mbit. Higher bitrate means better quality. I prefer 8-12Mbit.
3. Press "Start Recording" to start recording the video, the app will now minimize, when you are done with your recording press the notification that popped up. this will stop the recording.

Changelog:
v1.2
- Add icon (forgot in last release)
v1.1
- Removed RootTools (not needed and causing issues)
- When recording the app now will automatically minimize itself.
- Added Stop Button
- Removed duration
- Added Notification for recording, when pressing this notification the recording will stop.
v1.0 Initial Release
If something doesn't work instead of rating 1 star please post it here so I can help fix it.
Sometimes you need to choose odd destinations such as /cache or /data to make it work.
for example I recorded to /data/filename.mp4 in this video:
www.broodplank.net/files/filename.mp4 you can see how smooth it is! kitkat power
It works only for KitKat sir? Then it'd be of no use for us S4 users!

Today I've made a set-up for a screenrecording app, it only supports android kitkat, since it uses the "recordscreen" binary.
Very early release, but works pretty neat, afaik this is the only screenrecorder atm that works on kitkat. (i have tested 3 others and they didn't work)

oh it worked for you?
for me it kept telling me some fake message about me having no root. which is obviously not the case.
screencast resulted in black videos, not more, other screenrecord apps crashed.
but i did some searching on "kitkat screenrecorder" and it seems there are already like 3/4 apps that are almost the same as mine (but were posted earlier), all screenrecorders using "recordscreen" binary work on kitkat, all others dont work guaranteed.

No just a any rom based on kitkat 4.4, but i dont know if i9500 already has kitkat.
update news: I just found how to stop the recording without killing it, so today a new version with a start and stop button, and removed duration
Update to v1.2.
App dramatically increased, now user friendly, no duration set etc.
Please check it out
Curious as to how you modified the binary to allow longer recording...
Is it a case of hex editing the binary and patching out the 180s restriction (i.e. changing it to a higher value)?
I have no idea how to edit compiled binaries and would be interested in learning a few tricks!

Thanks for posting ^^. when doing it from source its really a minor change, when doing it with a hex editor it can be harder, but still very easy.
I recently hexed out a message that was spamming "mCompEngine is NULL" out of camera.msm8960.so, without any issues, just fill the actual spot with zeros and its done
Hi broodplank,
The screen recording itself works great but I'm having a couple of issues.
I backed up the current binaries and then installed the hacked binaries but I'm still unable to record for longer than 3 minutes. Also, clicking on the notification to stop the recording simply brings me back into the app. I have to actually manually click on the Stop Recording button inside the app.
I'm using the latest version (v1.5) and have a HTC One, if that makes any difference.
Great to see that sound recording will hopefully be available soon as well
help i need to record video calls from whatsapp internal and external audio
My device is Samsung and I am a root user, I have magisk installed, I already tried the screencam and nothing does not work, src pro and neither. I am android 10. Help please

A systemless and standalone application which let's you skip tracks on your Android 8.0+ device by long pressing the volume keys.
Working on every 8.0+ ROM, including stock AOSP without root. Tested on 8, 9 and Q Beta!
Installation
Download the newest release from the link below and install it on your device as usual.
Connect your device to a computer and enable developer settings and fire up
adb shell pm grant com.cilenco.skiptrack android.permission.SET_VOLUME_KEY_LONG_PRESS_LISTENER
On startup the app will check if has the permission. If you don't see any message the process worked and you are ready to go.
If the app is installed as system application by flashing it through a recovery this step is not needed as the permission is granted automatically.
Contribution
Please feel free to send me issues and pull requests for improvements, stability and new feature ideas.
If you want to help translate the app you can do so here.

Xperia XZ1, Stock 9.0 rom, i have no logs but app starts without error. All buttons are working. But it doesn't skip tracks on long colume button press on/offscreen.. when it is offscreen it doesn't change volume if this will help..(did all the instructions)
Samsung Galaxy S10+, app starts nor error, adb command all good too, but the skip function doesn't work.
Had a bug in it sorry for that! Also the signing should be fixed now.
So sorry for that. Please try the new version (same link)
Reinstall and may also try to rerun adb command!
It works as advertised now! Thank you!
Does this work when the screen is off?
Also, this is the first app I've seen that uses this API since we covered its existence nearly two years ago: https://www.xda-developers.com/android-oreo-volume-key-long-press/
edit: just read the GitHub readme, it does say it works when screen is off..will have to test.

Yeah it works with screen of as well!
Actually that post gave me the idea to create this app
I confirm it works now! Xperia XZ1 on Android 9 stock. Working like a charm. This is the only real standalone solution for skipping tracks with volume buttoms while screen is off on android 8-9. Great work dev ???
This is awesome! It works with every app I tried... except for Poweramp, which is my player of choice. This must be something on Poweramp's end though, since every other apps works as intended. What's weird is that Poweramp's beep seem to indicate that it's catching the next/previous commands, but won't skip tracks. Is there any specific configuration I should set on Poweramp for it to work?
does it work for Spotify?
I didn't even know there was an API for this but I'm so glad for this app, works perfectly on stock rooted OOS 9.0.4, thank you for this app!!! Took a little fiddling but it worked after a few minutes
I am so glad someone created this. I have been waiting for a standalone version of something like this since Xposed mods are a thing. This is awesome. Thank you so much!
very nice, thanks for sharing this app?
On an s10+ here, skip track works but volume will increase as if the button was being held. Ie. Once skipping to the next song, it will play at a much louder volume. Tested on Google play music and spotify.
UPDATE: disregard this, issue seemed to have fixed itself

It sure can be used as a daily driver! it works great for me with no lag or issues at all, face unlock isn't working but fingerprint scanner is far more secure anyways.
(for some reason though when I take a photo it keeps saying HDR+ processing.)

Wrong! I tried flashing it and it says that it has unlimited storage, then asks if I want original quality on my drive storage or high quality
I had similar deal when i got lg g4 unlimited or many gb like 100 gb i dont remember, for 2 years. And when that pass you end up with blocked accaunt.
It is buy space or revert all photos from original quality to gain space...
Pocophone main camera is 12MP and google hi quality is 16MP, so i dont see the point?

They've improved the current situation and upgraded their fair usage policy for the maximum allowed bandwidth to 700kbps, without ads. It should be good now.

What's the point in this restriction? This ROM is really hard to download like many adds which were removed on MOD actions and now this restriction which i seen first time in downloading ROM from xda. Maybe some stances available over here however i never met except this. Leaving it as it is maybe restrictions penetrated in ROM also.
Looking forward for easy download source and vanilla build. Good LuckView attachment 4966643

They were not removed because of mod actions. I don't control the distribution of the downloads, and I'm just a maintainer. I don't have decisions in core things like that.
Unable to download the ROM, it doesn't even start. Could you please report to the owner?

Really appreciate this rom. The only rom really changing anything significant as far as look of UI is concerned. Everything works great after 24 hours in, battery and performance is fine and it is just great to have something that looks different from all the other roms
After using it a bit longer, I've found that when my Bluetooth earphones (Jabra elite active 65t) are connected, everything lags and although music was fine, just turning Bluetooth off was difficult due to lag
Any option to disable HW keys? and also navigation gesture don't work properly back gesture seems broken

General Known working / not working magisk mods

Just wanted to share with y'all my experience
I currently have my ROG Phone 5 WW ver setup with Magisk 23000 and BL unlocked, since there's no TWRP & Decryption & Kernel available yet, the amount of mods I can get working is pretty limited
Here's the ones I tried
Not working:
WebView Manager, it causes some apps to crash on WebView usage and breaks Chrome updates in playstore
Viper4Android FX 2.7.0.1, Driver won't install no matter what I do, manual system V4A installation might be required but I'm not up to it.
3minit Battery / clock Magisk Module: Doesn't work, installation will pass but nothing will change on the launcher
Moto Clock Widget: API error... Maybe too old for Android 11
Partially working:
Font Manager: change fonts works, not so much for emojis.
James DSP manager: jDSP works until it decide not to... Which seems to be random, when it works it works well tho, both on speaker and headphones, Currently you can fix the processing issues by force restart the jDSP app.
AML, It works with jDSP.... Sometimes... Especially if you're using it with headphones, it fixes the headphone output not processing issue. Not sure why... Tho..
Working:
BusyBox, this don't need explanation
Ice box System Plugin
Fdroid System Plugin
Liboemcrypto disabler, this can make DRM content play
Build in Systemless hosts module, it's required for AdAway on this device
Universal Safety Net Fix: Fixes safety net, enable Magisk hide after installation to get a pass
Debloater (Terminal Emulator):I used it to get rid of the NF and other bloats, use it with a TE like Termux
Universal GMS Doze: seems to be working, have not checked yet
Axet's call recorder
YouTube Vanced Magisk Module
Riru Magisk Module
Riru Sui plugin/addon Module
Edit 1:
Added two items suggested by @chairman011 , thanks
Edit 2: Added some Riru stuff after testing
This is what I have no issues at all thanks for the post btw. And also the car recording module you see in the picture works perfect stereo sound on both ends of the conversation starts recording on every phone call or you can set it to do what you want. If anybody needs screenshots on how to set it up and get it up and running let me know.

It's probably going to take more than one developer working on the device to see any real progress.

But I guess everyone including me is very glad that we have this one
Maybe it becomes better when the Pro and Ultimate are released.
Otherwise I'll lose hope.
The previous models have not that much developer support as well (at least at my very first sight, correct me if I'm wrong) but more than this one.

The 3 has a couple, but also had Asus backing the community. Not really sure what happened, but now they want nothing to do with it. To go from handing out devices to flat out refusing support is a big change.
On a more positive note, there are still two versions left to release that may attract a bigger crowd.
