Good evening folks. Went to take some pictures of our sky today and noticed that manual exposures in Pro mode are limited to 1/4000th of a second. When I tap and hold, the Exif of one image gave me 1/15000th of a second and it was very very dark. I wonder is there an app, or method to unlock the full exposure range for our camera? Would someone be so kind and look into that please? I could provide that strange file, if necessary. Just imagine the dynamic range we could get if we stack 1/15000 through to 1-5 seconds! I bet it would match, or beat the Nikon D810!

Does anybody have problems with camera during small distance operations like bar code or qr code reading. It is almost impossible to read those codes with my device. I have 9020 model
Tried to change focus to "macro" in camera settings?
Helps a bit.
So basicly the way that camera works is a feature ?
Well, if your barcode reader app can't read the barcode I'd blame the app.
If you meant that you can't read the barcode details (numbers) on a picture you have taken then this _might_ be because of the focus setting (macro vs .automatic). Also remember to set to 5mp, not below. In the end NxS' camera isn't the best in the smartphone market, but one of the better. It's still no match to today's pure camera shots.
So I have been thinking, in a few years, when everyone gets new phones, with new features. How are we going to edit the pictures taken with Wide Aperture mode (fake bokeh)? The only app able to change the depth of field of the picture is the stock gallery app by Huawei/honor that came with the phone.
Google photos DOES save the information to be edited later (but there is no way to edit them on Google photos app as far as I can tell).
So if a year later you restore photos to this phone and try to edit them, you can, but only with the stock gallery app.
Anyone here know of any 3rd party software on Windows desktop, and or on the web or android that can do this? So we don't have to be reliant on the Gallery app from Huawei in case we change phones later on.
Thanks.
You can't really change the aperture on phones as the aperture is fixed to f2 or bit more. What Google and Huawei and all the other do, is to approximate the behaviour by blurring the background in a postprocessing step. The better they detect foreground and background, the better this illusion works. But it's never a real bokeh.

I am well aware how this camera works, i am a part time photographer, This was not my question! my question was if there is an external source or app that allows us to edit these kinds of photos as the gallery app does, to refocus after we take the pics using the wide aperture mode.
I think that what Huawei does with their gallery app is a bit proprietary.

So basically after a few years if we want to edit these pictures it would either be impossible with another brand of phone, or might perhaps be possible if we keep buying huawei phones, with this feature, which is not a sure thing.
Yes I think so. But I didn't investigate on this topic. At least one can still open the Jpeg as the depth information is somewhat in it.
Unfortunately no third party apps that can do this.
Maybe if someone can port the gallery app, that will work!
I use the app "Automate" to do various chores on my phone, such as turning off my bluetooth radio when I leave home. I highly recommend it to anyone who has interest. Having bought the PH-1, I decided to play with some time-lapse videography. This is fairly easy to do in Automate, as it has the functionality to take pictures (and wait between) built-in. I can use either the primary camera or the selfie camera, and then stitch the pictures together in post to make the video.
My problem is the 360 camera. I so want to experiment with the 360 camera, but I am having some issues.
1) First, the camera seems to turn off when the Essential Camera App is not active. Does anyone know how to override this?
2) When I am configuring Automate. It does not sense the 360 camera. I am not sure how the app detects cameras, or if it does at all. After all, when was the last time you had a phone with something other than two cameras? It may be easiest as a programmer to just assume, and ignore the corner cases. But I am going to operate on the assumption it is possible to get this to work. In the app, if you set the "Camera" variable to 1, you get the primary camera, and if you set it to 2, you get the selfie. The obvious thing is to try 3 for the 360 camera, but this does not work. Neither does trying 0. Is there anyone who is both an owner of a PH-1 and a competent user of Automate that might have any ideas? Personally, I suspect if I can achieve step one above, this problem will come into greater focus. It will either be detected, or I will have enough information to go to the Automate community with requests. Right now though I suspect it is easier to find someone here with Automate experience than going there looking for someone with the PH-1.
Thanks for helping out!

I've never used automate, but I assume the "take picture" function you are using is independent.
Try setting automate to open up the essential cam, and then "take picture". The camera app has to be coded to read the external usb camera.
May seem like an odd question but but I like to take selfie photos (with my daughter). It is very awkward to stretch out my arm and get us both in the photo and be able to hit the photo button. Has anyone found an easier way to either hold the phone or take photos like this?
Check the options under Shooting methods in Settings. Voice control could be what you need and will certainly amuse your daughter
Voice control or use timer
Volume buttons can be used to take a picture ?
There is a specific forum for the plus version

Why not just use the S pen... fire the shot with it
Hi, everyone.
I don't know if it is possible to tweak them but for the past few years I am too worried about the setting available in budget android devices.
I am still a student and can't afford expensive smartphones. I love everything in Samsung's devices but their limited setting in pro mode bother me.
My question is that is it anyhow possible to change setting to allow the shutter speed to go up till 10 seconds or 30 seconds?
Budget phones from Samsung only allow limited number of camera setting like ISO, white balance and exposure in pro mode, but I want to change the shutter speed and manually change the focus.
My phones are Samsung Galaxy J6(J600G) and Galaxy A5 Duos (A500G).
Is there any way possible so that I can take a long exposure picture of 10 seconds or so?
I have tried many applications from Camera FV-5, manual camera and OpenCamera etc.
Camera FV-5 allow long exposure up to 60s but does not work and there is no difference in stock camera picture and camera Fv-5 picture.
Manual Camera and OpenCamera allow shutter of up to only 1/8 s. It doesn't work even after enabling camera 2 API in OpenCamera setting.
Any help will be appreciated.
I would also like to know the reason for it if it is not possible to do so. Does hardware limit some settings or camera module or anything like that.
HELP PLEASE

IDK about your device, but on my S10, the stock Samsung camera app allows to set manual focus and shutter time up to 30 second in Pro mode - see my screenshot.
AFAIK those settings are not limited by hardware, but more limited by the software/what features the manufacturer (Samsung) exposes to be used by the user or other camera apps.

Have a habit of reading the query thoroughly. Anyway, congratulations because S10 is a budget smartphone for you.

Thanks for your advice. I just wanted to give additional context information for my screenshots. Nothing more.
And I posted only because (after more than a month and about 74 views) no one else replied to your "query". Sometimes it helps to "push" a thread to be seen and replied by other users (with the "right" device and/or solution).
