Wearable Widgets - my new favourite app - Samsung Gear S3

just wanted to share the recent update to the Wearable Widgets app for GearS3
I've used the app for ages - this ran as an app on my watch - and when selected it shows a widget from my android device - i use it for my google feed. (its free for one widget)
However it has just been updated - so now you can select it as one of the actual widgets within the Tizen os - so now i can access my widgets just by rotating my bezel. truely awesome. and you can have multiple widgets (for a small fee...)
this isn't marketing, i don't work for them or know them, i just now have a cool app on my watch...

I hope you're right. I uninstalled it from my watch because it was buggy. I'll give it another try.

This app will suck your battery dry.

Just bought it. Very impressed.

I also noticed that when I used their new feature to set it as a widget, it drained the battery. If I just leave it as an app, it doesn't. So, since Samsung hasn't (or won't) deliver an native Smarthings app for the Gear S3, I'm using this to be able to control my first set of routines from the Smartthings widget. So now I can use my watch to turn on my A/C to start cooling the place down before I get home.

Thanks for info!

50% battery usage after one full cycle.... uninstalled.

Just installed it back.
Three widgets on the s3 installed.
AIX weather, Bitcoin and Google Keep. Keep does not seem to scroll
In fact I take care that the right widget is in front for eacht s3 widget. (Headaches anybody?)
Looks promising however.
Will test battery life.
Huib

Pretty cool app. But wish I could interact with the widget from my watch. For example, my google keep list. Wish I could scroll through my list.

Battery Widget Reborn is the perfect widget for this. Can easily check my phone's battery life from my watch and it looks like a native app! (Excuse the temporary screen protector, using the plastic piece that came on the back on my watch until my glass protector comes in)

Looking for Twitter client with widget

I have tried almost every application available on market (in Sweden) but none supports widget in free version.
The purpose in looking for new apps for both Twitter and Facebook is that I'm tired of timescape and replacing it with two separate applications..

I have also tried many free twitter apps.
I have to say that Twicca was the most suitable for me. Leaving running on background, and set interval to half hour, i get the most updates trough the notification. Also there is a widget, to bad it doens't show the last post/reaction of your following, but you have a nice neat set of buttons to make directly your own pic, search user, watch all the posts of your following.
The most best of all is that twicca can post your GPS location and post a pic directly from camera, or search your phone for a picture/movie or record a movie.
Twicca is on my phone for a month now... Still happy with it, only to save my battery drain i always kill the app when i am done xD
Im not into Tweeter that much.
Try these out. Didn't test by myself.

I recommend using the twicca app..I like it and it has a widget too.
It has a clean UI and is fast.

I am using tweetcaster version 1.9 by handmark. I actually preferred twiccas twitter interface just a tiny bit better than tweetcasters, but tweetcasters widget blows twiccas out of the water. The widget is 4x2 and has a text input bar for directly tweeting from the home screen, it also has your latest tweet from your feed on the homescreen, with a button to play your twitter feed, skip ahead to the next tweet, or back to the previous one (if not your most recent). It is the most useful twitter widget i have been able to find (on a free app) and the usefulness of the widget pushes it above all the other twitter apps I have tried. I have not bought any of the premium twitter apps to try their widgets (touitter, twidroid, etc.) so cant really comment on those.
Look for tweetcaster, if its available in your region, and give it a try. it is free after all, so cant hurt to try.
+1 for tweetcaster. Love it.
I use Twicca too, really like it.

The app is available for download on the Android market or AppBrain.
Detailed user guide is available here.
nice app to add to your portfolio. i've downloaded it and giving it a try. i like the ignore apps feature with MRU, keeps my handy apps even handier. i might just have to get rid of my folders now, i'll be sure to leave an appropriate rating in about a week.
just for my sake, LRU is only based on last use; MRU is based on the number of uses; and Pro gets an additional ordering based on total time used. is this correct?
edit: sorry, missed the link to your blog, which covers that question clearly.. thanks
HI Muzikant,

SeriesGuide - TV Show Tracker

I watch a lot of TV shows and it is hard to keep up with new episodes. I also had trouble to trying to figure out which shows I have already watched.... thus I found the perfect app.
SeriesGuide informs you when a new episode comes out and you can mark episodes that you have already watched.

I agree. I love this app, except for the fact that its widget really looked out of place on my home screen.
I have added a few settings to customize it; if anyone is interested I will push these changes back to GitHub and ask the author if we wishes to integrate them.

Regarding the widget, I'm also not too fond of it the way it looks right now. I do like the transparency, but the 'next' text in capitol letters is way to big. If that would be in normal text, it would be better. And the show covers could be doubled in size (thus increasing the line hight for each episode), so it'll be a little more easy on the eyes when watching the list.
Besides that, I very much love this app!
On a second note, perhaps a fourth theme could be implemented: 'rom default'. Install a recent version of Chainfire's SuperSU app and you'll see what I mean It matches the theme based on the used framework. So if you're on a Sense ROM, the app will be Sense themed, and if you're on TouchWizz, it will be TW themed.
Nice app! Thank you, really helping!

Are there someone else that is having problem to add show and search after show? This must have happen lately for me, cause i could do it a couple of days ago.

Night stand clock?

I'm coming from a Moto 360 (cracked screen ) and a feature I liked was that it would act as a nightstand clock with adjustable colors when on the charging stand. I've looked for a setting to allow a clock when charging and can't find one. Does anyone know if this exists?
And I REALLY miss 'ok google'. S-voice is not nearly as informative. Maybe we'll get Bixby, but I doubt it.
I use this a lot. Also Google Voice works on the S8+. I got on Bixby Beta through Samsung. Bixby is learning my habits and I'm figuring out what she can do.

And this helps with my S3 how?
deleted. not a solution.
Partial solution found. Download "AODClock" from Gear store (free). This is an app, not a watchface. You launch it before you put your Gear S3 on the charging dock, and then the clock will stay lit all night. It's not as sleek as the Moto 360 dock mode which is automated, but next best thing. It's also not the best Dock Clock (numbers too small)...
Use "i am alive" gear store app (make sure you back out of the app by pressing "home" not "back" after turning 'i am alive' on). install Bedside Night Table Color Charging Clock by Richard Williams, also in the store of the Gear app. It is really pretty especially in rainbow mode. I think i'm using this as my permanant watch face. Its always on and minimal battery use.

Questions Coming to Google from Microsoft

Greetings,
Long time contributer to XDA here for Windows development. Since the windows phone is essentially dead I had to move over to Google. I picked up the Pixel 2 from VZW and I have a pile of questions about this phone. Hoping you can answer me as may friends with Droids, Galaxys, and Essential phones tell me this is the Google phone so their version of Android is different.
1. Can you customize the screensaver with something better? Just the clock and icons sucks. It plain sucks. My wifes Droid has circles you hold down to view at a glance. It's there other apps that make the screensaver show weather and calendar info etc. My windows phone had that and it was awesome.
2. I was able to respond to texts outside the pin or device lock. If I wanted to do anything else with message I had to unlock it. Is there a way to do this on the Pixel 2?
3. Going through the Play Store shows the same home screen apps over and over that just customize the background and make the same overall look of the Android OS. Are there home screen apps that tear that down and make it look completely different that are customizable? I used to live the Manilla UI of the late 2000s. Does anyone do that? Android has the ability not sure why noone though of bringing it back. It was clean a d smooth and highly functional.
Thanks in advance for helping me out. Currently running a home screen app toake it look like the windows phone but it VASTLY lacks the ability to show information, make it look clean, and all around is not as good as the metro style live tiles are. Also repsonding to messages and having to unlock all the time is so infuriating.
Phone info attached. Thanks!

Since you bought the VZW version instead of buying from the Google Store, root might be hard to acquire if that's something that you want. Some of the apps that I'm recommending give you more flexibility and control if you have root access.
1) Take a look at "Widget Locker."
I'm not sure how well it works on the pixel 2. I just use the stock lock screen. Though I used it on my HTC M8 for a long time and it worked very well.
2) You could probably just turn off your lock screen, or find an app that lets you bypass it. Though your disabling part of the security of your phone if you choose to go that way.
3) Check out Nova Launcher, and Zooper Widget. There's also YouTube videos of a reviewer that goes over custom phone setups. When I get to my computer I will try to find them and post the link to their page.
Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
3) try Nova launcher (prime) and/or Klwp. Klwp let's you do practically anything you can or can't imagine, including windows-phone-like setups.
There are also some launchers like smart launcher, using a different approach then the standard launchers, although I don't use smart launcher some people really seem to like it
Try Microsoft launcher app. It will make your Android system have some windows phone behavior. But still not windows phone and I don't like it.
