I'm coming from a Moto 360 (cracked screen ) and a feature I liked was that it would act as a nightstand clock with adjustable colors when on the charging stand. I've looked for a setting to allow a clock when charging and can't find one. Does anyone know if this exists?
And I REALLY miss 'ok google'. S-voice is not nearly as informative. Maybe we'll get Bixby, but I doubt it.
I use this a lot. Also Google Voice works on the S8+. I got on Bixby Beta through Samsung. Bixby is learning my habits and I'm figuring out what she can do.

And this helps with my S3 how?
deleted. not a solution.
Partial solution found. Download "AODClock" from Gear store (free). This is an app, not a watchface. You launch it before you put your Gear S3 on the charging dock, and then the clock will stay lit all night. It's not as sleek as the Moto 360 dock mode which is automated, but next best thing. It's also not the best Dock Clock (numbers too small)...
Use "i am alive" gear store app (make sure you back out of the app by pressing "home" not "back" after turning 'i am alive' on). install Bedside Night Table Color Charging Clock by Richard Williams, also in the store of the Gear app. It is really pretty especially in rainbow mode. I think i'm using this as my permanant watch face. Its always on and minimal battery use.

You can use power manager in the Google Marketplace

One of the best 99 cent app I've ever purchased. Support the Dev, he just lost his job, and the app kicks ass.
Yeah, Power Manager has the option to a max of 2 minutes, but it has never worked for me, it always times out waaay earlier.

i use shake awake free app that causes your phone to turn back on if you move it a certain amount, you can ajust the sensitivity to howevver much you like. mine basically stays on if the phone moves at all while i am on a call
Awesome I will try these. Thanks for the responses.
Power manager doesn't change the timeout for the screen during calls. The only way to change that currently is using the shake program mentioned above. I use both programs and love both of them so when power manager doesn't help with the screen timeout during a call use it for all the other great benefits and select monitor so it can apply the different profiles (which you can customize) for all the situations.
I tired these apps they both seem to work pretty well, any ideas on how this could be done without using an app?

I like the concept. I like that you are able to quickly get an overview of messages, calendar, calls and you can adjust was you like it. It would be better if it had facebook, twitter intergration as part of all the other info panels also.
The only issue here I see is that the whole notion of android is the widgets...which I like. I'll keep it on for awhile to test it out. Maybe it will grow on me.
It's basically windows mobile homescreen.
I agree with archboy, great concept, but still missing some customization features. The ability to move an item from the top half to the bottom half is needed. This would be great if it could also be used as a fullscreen widget, so that I could still use the rest of my screens.
I wish this was a lock screen.
IMO, this information oriented approach instead of the action/application oriented approach is much better in terms of productivity.
The only drawback of this application? I cannot access to some widgets/actions and I do really want to be able to do things like enable wireless, 3g, change brightness... without the pain of going through the setup menus.
A good solution to this problem would be a light weight home screen app which could be launched from slide screen and load the the 4 or 5 widgets I need. I've tried aHomeMini but it forcecloses, any suggestions?
@iVisionX01: yeah, having it as a lock screen is also great but, again, I won't need the full featured home app.

2nd that
Tried it for a couple of hours, but missing customizability and getting settings too far out of reach made me uninstall quickly.
I wish it was a widget!
Try QuickDesk or PowerStrip with this, working great for me, very pleasing to the eye..
wow i cant believe i missed this home screen
should be perfect with QuickDesk and PowerStrip
i dont get it??? Whats it suppose to do??
It's a shame FroYo won't let you change default launcher programatically any more (you have to do it through the settings). I would love to have had Tasker set this is default when I was at work, then LauncherPro the rest of the time
Hi there, this is my first app/widget. Basically a simple battery widget for the android home screen which displays your phones battery life inside the green android logo. It would be great to here your thoughts on it Thanks for reading!

Nice widget.
Somehow the market download takes forever (slow cloud perhaps)
One suggestion: A different charging icon for fast(AC)/slow(USB) charging.
Its hard to find this on the market unless you add a few words from "west coast labs" to the search.
i don't see the wiget after installing your app?
Thanks for your replys guys!
britoso: Yes i agree with the different symbols for charging types. The download speed im unsure about, Its only 129Kb.
ts3li0t: Yeah i noticed this was a problem with some devices. A restart of the device has fixed it for the two cases i have seen with friends devices. Hopefully that will work for you. (It doesn't have an app launcher so its only in the list of widgets if thats why you cant see it). I have also seen it with other developers widgets too.. odd
Thanks for taking the time guys, really appreciate it!
The battery percentage text gets half cut off when my tablet (touchpad, cm9) is in landscape mode. Maybe the widget should be a few pixels taller.
1.0.1
Small Update: Level now drops when it's less than 11% and again at less than 6%, with crossed eyes! Orange level at less than 31%.
And thanks for pointing that out britoso. I have only just seen your comment, but will fix it for the next update. What launcher are you using if I may ask so that i could test it out to make sure its running well? Thanks!
late post sry, it must have been a problem with the launcher (nova/tribuchet), now that widgets can be re-sized its a non-issue.
1.0.2
Another small update (Not worthy of a new thread)
v1.0.2, Lightning bolt appears when plugged into DC, still a USB symbol when connected to a computer or tablet USB port. (Tiny extra; Green background when adding widget to home screen.)
Cheers!
Version 2.0
Android Battery Widget 2.0 is now available. It's had a complete redesign, hope you like it!

Dear Rick, thanks for the cool app, just let you know that on my new Note 5, I can not import the fingerprint indicator from internal memory even i saw it, but nothing happens when I choose, the indicator unchanged. Can u keep a little bit attention on that? Thanks again Rick

Hi Rick,
Really digging this app. There is one minor annoying thing that is happening. When I turn on my screen the application looks to jump to the top of the notification list. When it does that it moves everything down, which causes a bit of shutter on my lock screen.
Have you heard of this? Also, PM if you want a video for this great application.

Hi. I never heard of this before. I would like to see a video about that if that is possible
Hi!
I've been using te Gear S3 for 5 days now. And I feel the acelerometer or something could be a little too sensitive.
I had the wrist gesture turned on and I turned it off since que it was all the time turning the screen on. While sitting at my desk, or while driving, it keep turning on.
One other thing that i'm starting to notice is that it seems to over register things. Just the other day I went to the gym, and it says I've climbed 66 floors!
One other thing is that I work sitting a look and it barely seems to register that I'm sitted. It seems only when I'm very still, watching TV, that it register that I'm sitted.
Do you have similar behavior? See the picture for the activity. Does this seems normal for someone that works at a desk?

Could I have hardware malfunction?
Your stair climbing numbers seem to be just the opposite of what most people are experiencing. Like mine, it seems like most people complain about it not registering stair climbs instead of what you're seeing. I have to pick my arm up and make a good turn before my face turns on. You could try resetting it, but I guess that would mean seeing it up again. It does seem like yours is too sensitive though.

Thank you for your reply.
I'm returning it today. Just last night it registered I've been up 4 times, while I was sleeping! And stills indicates I've been 12h standing everyday!
I have a Polar M400, is not equally good looking has the Gear S3, but sure is a lot more accurate. I'll try to trade it for another unit. If I get the same result, I'll look for other brands. What good is for a smartwatch if is not that smart?

Other than the stair climbing being off, I've found all the other sensors very accurate. I've compared all the other sensors against multiple other devices and all seem to be right on.
