Hi,
I want to install the custom keyboard on my Droid running Froyo.
I downloaded the APK file already but only one folder is showing.
Do I need to download another files or something??
you also need to go into the settings on your phone and turn it on.
Menu -> settings -> location and keyboard -> check your keyboard you downloaded
You may have to uncheck "android keyboard" also depending on the keyboard.
Hope it works!
Hi,
I am trying to modify the icon size of apps and number of icons which are shown on the home screen of my Phone.
I found that changing ro.sf.lcd_density in build.prop affects the complete system and it also not useful to change the size of icons shown on home screen.
I tried to change the android:maxRows="3" android:maxItemsPerRow="3" android:maxItems="6" in framework-res.apk package by following the advice given here. However it did not help me either.
Above method included retrieving of framework-res.apk, modifying the contents from layout-port directory, creating the zip and installing it. Which I did successfully without any error.
Currently I have 4x4 settings for the home screen, i.e. I can have maximum 16 icons on the Home page; and for example, I want to change it to 3x2 so that there can be only 9 icons on the home screen.
I also want to customize the icon sizes.
How can I do by modifying framework-res.apk or some other package from existing ROM?
Just to make sure: I don't want to install new application or theme, rather want to understand how it is done.
The device I work on has ICS installed. (I am using ICS Arco's CM9 for Samsung Galaxy S plus device)
Same here, but a little different
i'd like to know if it's possible to change to a 5x5 icon layout. had Android Revolution 5.1 and noticed on install that it gave that option. however, i just went back to stock rom so i can get my KitKat update. if it is possible, will i be able to do it on KitKat?

Yes, but from the Deodexed one made by you. You missed to enable the HW aceleration.
But I have a question. Is the signature check disabled in SGP311/312 deodexed zip?
Bit OT.
In TZ2 you can disable the sound of Bootanimation. I have added this to settings but Its not working. Would you like to check it?

The Settings.apk is the one for TZ (modded with the Bootanimation Sound CheckBox), the SettingsZ2N(ew) is the latest of TZ2 (Odexed but Does not work).
Also I have and older version of Settings from TZ2. About this one (Download from here). Its odexed but it works (Even Its smooth ) ,
But what does not work?:
* Advance Sound options (xLoud, SForce etc). Its not available because there is a SubMenu in Sound Settings (In TZ we have shortcuts)
* T2W option, (It dissapeared but its enable by default)
* Power Management, (STAMINA etc) FC
* Bootanimation Sound (There is the option but Its not working)
I tried to put the Bootanimation from TZ2 but the result is the same
Too many downloads and nobody says anything nor hit thanks button neither
Stupid question: what is the difference to simply enabling 2D hardware acceleration?
Does this fix apply that only to settings?
So far forced 2D gpu acceleration showed no downsides.
Are there differences with battery life?
So far the settings apk (even the fixed one wont show up on my 311.
Got deodexed rom but now without any settings.
I flashed the deodexed Version of 4.4.2 and Service.jar + settings.apk. It is fast and without any lags or Bugs

1. Yes, the fix is only for Settings.
2. Some apps may lag with GPU acceleration forced and may affect a bit the battery life
3. Did you put the services.jar in system/framework?

Just out of curiosity, what would happen if I were to use these files on an odexed 4.4.2 rom (stock)?

Settings will disappear from app drawer. it won't work. Please try this. (I am not responsible of any software brick. So, do a backup of Original settings.apk and odex file, even a backup with the recovery)
1. Root your tablet
2. Install Xposed Framework. Then, install the Xperia Xposed module by Serajr
3. Enable the Superuser mod. Reboot
4. Delete Settings.apk
5. Put only Settings from this post. Reboot
If it's not working, delete settings.odex. Otherwise, it's not possible
And tell us what happened
Edit. Give me please your Settings.apk and odex.

P.S.: Apparently it also happens with Greenify and whatever app I activate in this menu. I'm very irritated
