Encrypted MI 4C, Weekly Rom, TWRP 3.0.3.0 encryption password not accepted - Xiaomi Mi 4C

Hi folks,
My MI4C is on the weekly MIUI 7.4.x, I am now looking to upgrade, hence as usual I rebooted in recovery.
The phone has obviously root and unlocked bootloader.
TWRP is asking for my encryption password, which I know, but no matter what, TWRP does not flipping accept the password!
What can I do?

Do you know if you have the Nougat bootloader or the old one?
I have not found a TWRP that can successfully decrypt it Nougat bootloader ROMs. If you are not on the Nougat Bootloader then I recommend trying Team Superluminal's TWRP, since that is the only one that worked with encryption enabled for me I think.

Have you got a working rom/os on the phone ?, If you do have try to add a password on the rom, hope the twrp has a new working crypto after that and ask you for a new password. If it didnt work try to reinstall the twrp by erasing it first.

Hi, I am on the Nougat bootloader, I tried to change the encryption password, tried to remove the encryption, but nothing worked, TWRP is still asking me the password to access the data partition.
What can I do?
I cannot wipe the phone, as I use it for my work, how can I upgrade TWRP when encryption is on?

Hi folks, anybody in my situation? I would like to avoid wiping the entire phone just because of the TWRP password bug.
I changed to a PIN password, but nothing works.

(Q)TeamWin Recovery and encrypted system

Hello Guys,
Have a quick question, sine upgrading to the latest Lollipop update and encrypting the system (work requirements) every time I boot to recovery and put my password for the decryption , I get an error in recovery that the password is incorrect.
I know for sure that the password is correct.
I have tried Team Win version 2.8.5.1 and 2.8.6.0 with the same result.
Any advise? As right now I can’t use recovery for what I need it for

D6633 TWRP cannot decrypt/mount encrypted volume

hello there,
Z3 D6633 here running 5.0.2 (HK) with TWRP rooted with superSU. Trying to upgrade to the newly released 5.1.1.
The phone had been be Encrypted some months ago and everything is fine. However, when I booted into TWRP to try to patch in 5.1.1, TWRP popped up with a password prompt. I entered the decrypt password (and other passwords I can think of) but TWRP replied with:
Unable to mount storage, and
Failed to decrypt data.
Google tells me there had been some issues with TWRP 2.8.4.1 to 2.8.6.0 unable to decrypt encrypted volumes so I went and grabbed the latest XZdualrecovery 2.8.21 and ran that in. All seemed fine and TWRP was updated to 2.8.7.0. Unfortunately, upon booting into recovery, TWRP still count not decrypt the volumes no matter what passwords I enter.
Does anyone have any ideas to get around this, short of a factory reset..? The SD card is also encrypted so I am trying to avoid factory reset if possible..
Thanks in advance
No. I find it ridiculous that it is simple and easy to encrypt, but to decrypt one needs a full reset losing all data? Android is fing lame. Can't wait to buy a tablet so I CAN encrypt both phone and tablet. At least with a win7 tablet decrypting will never be an issue. Android is more of a toy that destroys eyesight imo.

MI4C - TWRP 3.0.3.0 Encriyption Password required, phone NOT encrypted

Hi folks, I searched wide and large, it seems I cannot access TWRP anymore after having encrypted my phone.
I have a Mi4C, with the 7.4 weekly ROM (MIUI 8.3).
I set the encryption in order to use the company eMail app.
When I tired to enter TWRP I was asked the encryption password, but it did not work, so I tried to:
Remove the encryption altogether
Encrypt with a new Password
Encrypt with PIN
I have installed the latest TWRP 3.1.1. via the TWRP APP, same issue.
Nothing has worked.... Can I just remove TWRP and install a newer version?
How do I overwrite the file that has that TWRP encryption record?
You can try flashing updated twrp, but I doubt it will remove encryption without wiping data.
Anyway, if you wanna remove encryption you've to wipe data via TWRP.
Thanks for answering, I did try to upgrade TWRP, no success. I will wipe.

Magisk - not able to decrypt data

Hello,
my setup first: Huawei Honor 6X with stock Rom (EMUI 5.0, BLN-21C432B382) but TWRP 3.1.1 flashed.
Everytime after I flash Magisk and reboot the device, it is asking me for my password to decrypt my data. When I enter my screen lock pin,
it says "checking" and then a screen appears which says something like "your password is correct but your data is corrupt" It tells me to reset my phone.
But instead when i go back to TWRP, i can still access all the data. I can see the internal storage and all the files on it.
The only way to make the system reboot correctly, is to flash the backup image of the boot partition.
Does anyone know any fix to this issue? I really want Magisk installed....
Edit: When I install version 18.1 instead of the latest 19.1, everything works normally. But many modules dont work with the older version.... this is not a good solution
No suggestions at all?

Google Pixel TWRP "password failed, please try again"

Hello, been running twrp with encryption on Lineage OS 16 without problems for 6 months. But yesterday I flashed new android Q factory image and was unable to decrypt my data in twrp, even when I put the right password in it says ''password failed, please try again''. I tried flashing various factory images, custom roms even Lineage 16 but problem persists. I had this same problem back then when I first bought this phone but managed to solve it, I can't remember how I did it. TWRP is up to date. Any ideas? thanks.
It's TWRP issue. Sadly TWRP 3.3.1 is not available in zip format. Only in .img format. In 3.3.1 this problem is resolved.
As workaround you can remove any PIN, fingerprint and set security to none in setting and you won't have to enter anything in TWRP. Do whatever you want in TWRP and then set up PIN and fingerprint again.

Yeah I know this, but why did it started to do this after flashing Q factory image? TWRP worked without any problem on various custom roms. Actually now I remembered that while flashing Q factory image there was a problem mounting vendor and system partition, so I went back and flashed Lineage 16 and there this TWRP password thing started if I remember correctly.
I came here looking for the answer to this very issue.
I shot off an email to TWRP if they were going to update the latest zip to 3.3.1 because fastbooting to the img works fine.
I might try the trick of removing pin and security and try again.
I have the same problem but with 9.0, if I have a pin it's ok it decrypts just fine but when I have the fingerprint set up I get this problem, it kinda blows, I'm not using twrp everyday but it still blows that you have to disable security Everytime you want to use it, also, last night I used twrp with the security on it could not decrypt so and when i tried to reboot into system, I got the prompt to install the twrp app, I screwed up and used the slider instead of the button to cancel the installation and it messed up the system, so watch out for that crap.
