Hello,
my setup first: Huawei Honor 6X with stock Rom (EMUI 5.0, BLN-21C432B382) but TWRP 3.1.1 flashed.
Everytime after I flash Magisk and reboot the device, it is asking me for my password to decrypt my data. When I enter my screen lock pin,
it says "checking" and then a screen appears which says something like "your password is correct but your data is corrupt" It tells me to reset my phone.
But instead when i go back to TWRP, i can still access all the data. I can see the internal storage and all the files on it.
The only way to make the system reboot correctly, is to flash the backup image of the boot partition.
Does anyone know any fix to this issue? I really want Magisk installed....
Edit: When I install version 18.1 instead of the latest 19.1, everything works normally. But many modules dont work with the older version.... this is not a good solution
No suggestions at all?

As you can see from the title, I am looking for a way to stop my phone from re encrypting itself every time I update his firmware.
It is rooted with magisk and has twrp installed.
If there is no way to prevent it from re encrypting everything, is there a way to backup all my data in a manner that would allow me to reinject it retaining all the data? (like the authentication tokens and such)
I really need help in this domain since I seem to be unable to find a workaround myself and also the 8.0 update seems to be just around the corner and I want to be able to update and keep everything.
Smart Switch is not an alternative since it does back up all the apps but it does not back up the data.
~Thanks
bump
anyone?
heeeeeeeeelp
Have you found a way?... I'm in your situation and it's been frustrating me for a decade...
After updating my ROM, I don't have access to /data in TWRP, because the Update encrypts it.
I haven't set a password, so I tried the TWRP Terminal and do "twrp decrypt default_password". I read that "default_password" is the standard encryption password, but it doesn't work...
How to update ROM without /data getting encrypted
Dude, I found out how to disable the Forced Encryption!
Or in other words, how to update ROM without /data getting encrypted!
The key is: Before the first android boot, flash TWRP, boot into TWRP, flash Magisk.
Why: Because the first android boot encrypts /data. And Magisk disables this Encryption-process.
So, step by step:
1. Make a complete backup, in case you fail the steps (I use TWRP for backups)
2. Flash your updated ROM with ODIN.
3. Let it reboot to the blue screen stuff. (That's not the android boot, yet! It's just the Samsung Bootloader finalizing the update)
4. Your phone will reboot again now, DON'T LET IT BOOT TO ANDROID! Boot into Download Mode instead!
5. In ODIN, uncheck "Auto Reboot" and flash TWRP.
6. Now reboot from Download Mode into TWRP.
7. Flash Magisk.
8. Done! You can reboot now.
/data is now accessable in TWRP and in Android, in Settings > Biometrics and Security, you will now see the option to "Encrypt device" "Device not encrypted".
Notice:
Everytime you flash an updated ROM, you need to flash Magisk immediately afterwards. After the blue screen process, but before the first android boot!
Do not forget this, when flashing an updated ROM in the future!
Too bad i'm 2 years late for you, but I hope other people with the same problem find this.
I have a Honor 8 with stock 8.0 oreo (C432B562). I can install twrp and magisk with no problem but I don't wanna my data partition being encrypted, but I'm stuck at this point. I tried everything, but no luck. After a clean install I do not let the phone to boot to system, only to twrp, I tried install magisk.zip, this dm-Verirty-forceencrypt.zip to patch ramdisk(boot).img, but after I install any of them I get corrupt boot, means the phone boots to system but main system apps are missing, no keyboard, no google apps, no file manager, no nothing I can't do anything and oh, the phone set itself 'FRP lock' state. So the only way out from this is a new clean boot via Huawei erecovery, then login, set OEM unlock to remove FRP lock and try again... ALso tried to modify vendor/etc/fstab.ext4.hi3650 and fstab.f2fs.hi3650 with no luck. Any ides to do this? Thanks.
To fix encryption issue for TWRP (Honor 8 - EMUI 8) => https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/development/twrp-honor-8-emui-8-t3886862
Worked for my FRD-AL00, but this TWRP version has a "reboot to system" issue on my phone => It keeps (re)booting to TWRP... (to fix this, I needed to plugin a USB cable and boot to eRecovery, then reboot to system from it...)
After fixing decryption, you can flash an another TWRP (given by Multi-Tool software by example).

Thanks man I finally did it... the funny thing is I had this recovery for months, but if I tried that method I got the bootlop, so I got stuck.... Damn, the erecovery trick was the solution. Now I can confirm this method is works.
Hi,
I tried it, but it doesn't work for me.
Before installing TWRP_For_Honor8, my phone stays block in boot screen (blue screen).
After installing TWRP_For_Honor8 and fix data encryption, my phone boots normally but, I have a message that indicates that some unallowed modifications were done one file system so I have to reinstall firmeware. In this case I have no Google apps, no, virtual keyboard, ... (not usable)
I don't know how install root app (SuperSU for example) without formatting data (that removes encryption). But when encryption is removed, my system does not work correctly (boot failed without fix data encryption or empty OS after fixing data encryption)
Best regards,
i cant flash twrp to erecovery
i get erorr from fastboot about length of file
my rom is
FRD-L09_8.0.0.562(C432)
Hello, been running twrp with encryption on Lineage OS 16 without problems for 6 months. But yesterday I flashed new android Q factory image and was unable to decrypt my data in twrp, even when I put the right password in it says ''password failed, please try again''. I tried flashing various factory images, custom roms even Lineage 16 but problem persists. I had this same problem back then when I first bought this phone but managed to solve it, I can't remember how I did it. TWRP is up to date. Any ideas? thanks.
It's TWRP issue. Sadly TWRP 3.3.1 is not available in zip format. Only in .img format. In 3.3.1 this problem is resolved.
As workaround you can remove any PIN, fingerprint and set security to none in setting and you won't have to enter anything in TWRP. Do whatever you want in TWRP and then set up PIN and fingerprint again.

Yeah I know this, but why did it started to do this after flashing Q factory image? TWRP worked without any problem on various custom roms. Actually now I remembered that while flashing Q factory image there was a problem mounting vendor and system partition, so I went back and flashed Lineage 16 and there this TWRP password thing started if I remember correctly.
I came here looking for the answer to this very issue.
I shot off an email to TWRP if they were going to update the latest zip to 3.3.1 because fastbooting to the img works fine.
I might try the trick of removing pin and security and try again.
I have the same problem but with 9.0, if I have a pin it's ok it decrypts just fine but when I have the fingerprint set up I get this problem, it kinda blows, I'm not using twrp everyday but it still blows that you have to disable security Everytime you want to use it, also, last night I used twrp with the security on it could not decrypt so and when i tried to reboot into system, I got the prompt to install the twrp app, I screwed up and used the slider instead of the button to cancel the installation and it messed up the system, so watch out for that crap.
Hello there,
I´m stuck in fastboot with the message "Software status: modified" and "This device is corrupt. It can´t be trusted and will not boot." I have entered fastboot, then used temporarily TWRP 3.3.1.0 to flash magisk (root) and now i can´t boot. Stuck in middle between root and stock kind of... what steps are now possible to solve the problem of not booting. Do I have to do go back to stock by putting the ruu.zip on sd card and reflash in download mode or is there any workaround for the software status message. I don´t want to loose my encrypted user data by the full wipe of RUU. I also have to state that my U12+ was on the latest Pie Update (Android 9.0). At the moment I can enter fastboot, download mode and temporarily twrp, however i am not sure if that A/B security structure of the partitions cause that "corrupt" message. Thanks in advance!:good:
Since I ran out of solutions I decided to flash a RUU.zip and went back to stock. If anyone still finds a way to install magisk via temporary twrp on pie and to fix the "corrupt device" security message please leave a step-by-step guide.
Hello,
I'm stuck on TWRP, no way to load Android.
TWRP wasn't reading the partition so I tried to repair, pass to EXT2 and back to EXT4.
All got stuck on TWRP, I could only go to fastboot, at boot it goes back to TWRP automatically. The message on TWRP console is :
"Android Rescue Party trigger! Possible solutions?
Either :
1) Wipe caches, and/or
2) Format data, and/or
3) Clean - Flash your ROM
The reported problem is:
"init_user0_failed"
Unable to decrypt FBE device."
TWRP version 3.6.2_12-MI10Ultra_v3.7_A12
First ROM present on device: xiaomi.eu_multi_MI10Ultra_22.6.15_v13-12-fastboot.zip
Second time I tried to flash with fastboot and XiaomiFlash the same ROM, successfully installed, but I was still stuck in the loop.
Third time I flashed xiaomi.eu_multi_MI10Ultra_22.6.29_v13-12.zip with TWRP, successfully, but I'm still stuck on the same loop, Android won't load.
Please I need help, I use the phone for work and actually I've been without for a whole day.
How can i fix TWRP possibly without lose all my apps and data?

Afternoon matey, not to sure if this is helpful or not, may not be even specific to your device, but the error is the same error, so may shine a little light on the error.
Unable to decrypt FBE device
Plz anybody help this out... I unlocked bootloader, then immediately flashed Pitchblack recovery, then booted into recovery. Initially console shows decrypted FBE device with default password. But Encryption status : Encryped So I went into wipe...

Forgot to add, would recommend reading the whole thread, you can then judge what actually works or not before trying
