Hello guys! Today (6 Aug 2018) Google released Android Pie along with all new 157 new emojis which add up to existing emojis which were overhauled in Android Oreo update. So I present you the all new emojis for devices running Oreo or older Android versions.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. A Rooted Device running Kitkat+ Android version.
2. Any File Manager with Root access(Solid Explorer, Root Explorer or ES etc.)
INSTRUCTIONS:
•Manual Method
1. Your device must be rooted (SuperSU or MagiskSU or any other method)
2. Open Explorer>root/system/fonts and backup the original NotoColorEmoji.ttf file
3. Download the emoji file(from Google Drive download link), rename it to NoToColorEmoji.ttf, replace the older NotoColorEmoji.ttf file with the newer one and set the permission to -rw-r--r-- (0644)
4. Reboot
5. Profit! You'll have brand new emoji set
•Flashable Zip
1. Reboot to TWRP
2. Flash the zip.
3. Done!
BUGS:
No bugs so far. All the emojis are display correctly.
•If you are using substratum make sure you are on stock font and then flash the zip or follow the method else it won't work! After installing the mod you may install any custom font.
NOTE:
This mod has been tested on my device (OnePlus 3T) running Android Oreo, Nougat, Marshmallow and on Lollipop & Kitkat too by users.
It works both for AOSP Keyboard and Gboard (systemwide!)
Sub note: 1. Doesn't work for keyboard of apps like WhatsApp,Hike and Telegram as they have their own emojis (iOS ones).
2. AOSP Keyboard needs to be updated to show the new Pie emojis which will probably be done when the source code of P drops.

It should not happen. Could you please elaborate your problem with a screenshot? I tested it on 3 devices (2 on AEX 4.2) and it works fine. Did you give the correct permissions? And also if it doesn't work then restore your previous TTF file and flash the zip. I'm uploading(Check the OP)

Oh. These new emojis are only available on O as they are added in the system (their pngs) so they need system level modifications to work on N. I'll see if I can add them in the next release. Till then enjoy these
Also, Everyone!
Flashable zip link is posted below (OP updated too) and it works well. No need to follow the manual method, just flash the zip and you're done!
Link: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862727354
Also, it needs testing on Lollipop so if anyone has Android lollipop on their device please test and report back. Most probably it will work. Thanks!

Thanks. Btw, i can still use them by copying them from emojipedia as they aren't fully unsupported. They are unavailable on the keyboards only. The link I added in the post and the link i screenshotted are different, the former shows the emojis as images while the latter shows the emoji as they look on my phone. And they appear correctly instead of appearong as boxes, as they had before i replaced the file. http://emojipedia.org/unicode-10.0/

That works great on my nexus 6 running 7.1.2 thank you very much!! but how do we revert the process aka when we want our stock emojis back again?

Yes =o you are right.
I had assumed that you were refering to a theme and not only the fonts.
Just had set, to default, reboot, and flash emojis again, and no emojis at all. After reaply a new font theme in subs, all the new emijis appeared
Many thanks

Description:
I love CyanogenMod/Lineague but what when I am using another custom rom, not based on CM (f.e. LiquidSmooth, Nameless...). Everytime there is no file manager and that ***** me up every time. So I started to extract the apk and give it to you all!
How to install:
First check your Android Version. It can be that if you are running on Android 4.1 for example the filemanager V1.0.3 and higher doesnt work. When you have this problem, take an older version.
If you want root access in the browser, be sure to install Busy Box, maybe it will still not work after that.
There are 3 ways, you can install the file manager:
Way 1:
1) You can try to install the downloaded apk just as a normal apk, if this doesn't work, try another way (2 or 3)
Way 2:
1) Download flashable zip file
2) go to recovery -> install -> choose the downloaded zip file
Way 3:
1) Copy the apk with a excisting file manager with root access to /system/apps
2) Change file permissions to rw-r-r (like all the others apps in this folder)
3) reboot your phone
4) Enjoy everything of the CM file manager on your custom rom
You can install V3 as an update over V1.
Download [click here for an overview]:
V.3.0.0 [from LOS14.1/CM13] LineagueOS14.1 has the same Filemanager as 13, no changes were made.

Which Android Version is that?
It seems that Version 3.0.0 only works on Android 4.4.4 - 5.1
I will give Version 2.X of filemanager to you next days, try this then again.
Also have you tried with Version 1.X of it yet or only with 3.0.0?

I have made a flashable version of V1.0.0 of the filemanager. You can try this one, but it is really old. :/
New versions are in the op thread, take a look! Also I have made for EVERY Version a new flashable zip, should now work on any device!

Okk... Please give feedback..!! :fingers-crossed:
BRoy_98:
I have no chance to get the download. At home I can't get the download running and in the office I can't get to the web page.
You have an android file host (AFH) account? That is nearly a must for devs ...
Update 1:
Today i was able to download it strange. Google Drive is back so far in the Office, ...
...and No ... i am the admin here. So it was no Firewall issue.
Will test it in the evening ...
Update 2:
Roy it works like a charm. A very big Thank You for that. I was to lazy to get back my fonts
from my older P1000, but now I am back in service . Please see the screenshots.

Most welcome..!
Wouldn't this work on other Samsung devices as well? Like I have a Note 4 running stock 5.0.1 only rooted, and I could follow those instructions to the letter if I used Root Explorer. Would it work or is there something about the way the fonts are defined in the package that ties it to a specific model?
Posted this here and not in Note 4 forums wanting to hopefully address the question to this package's developer.

It should work well if note 4 use the SamsungSans.apk method for fonts. Go to syste/app and find SamsungSans.apk folder. If there is a SamsungSans.apk is present, then it will work well.! Try it and give a feedback.!
This works on custom roms, too.
And works not only for tab4 but also to other samsung device.

It will not work on custom roms because custom roms doesn't use the same method like TouchWiz. But it will work on all samsung devices with TouchWiz..!!
@Roy:
It woks on my SM-T530 (SGT4 10.1) but the folder is different (logical).
On Android 5.0.2 from 2016-02-01 (original stuff) the folder name is /system/app/SamsungSans
There the SamsungSans.apk is placed. That is changed in Android 5.x.
Size of APK:
1000 Fonst SamsungSans.apk = 48.73 MB
The original one is = 208.57 KB
Please add this to the 1st posting because not everybody can read
And Thank's again...
BTW: you can possible add the TAG 'stock rom'
I followed this method step by step, it worked at first then it says "font not supported" :/ What should I do to get it working again?

I knew the reason, before I put the SamsungSans in the system/app/samsungsans folder, I have to be selecting the SamsungSans font in the Touchwiz settings, because when I'm on default font and I replace that, it detects the fonts but it says they're not supported. But when I'm choosing the SamsungSans before the replacement, it works

[BACKPORT][6.0.1+] Pixel Launcher ODR-4023749 from Android 8.0 DP3

Pixel Launcher ODR-4023749 Backport for Android 6.0.1+

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know I'm boring and I keep posting the same thing over and over after each Developer Preview from Android O 8.0 releases... But I needed to do this backport for my SHIELD Tablet anyways, so I really don't mind sharing it here. Find this irrelevant and repetitive, feel free to close the thread.
So... Yet another time, the title says it all.
This is a quick (I spent 3 hours on it) backport of the Pixel Launcher ODR-4023749, extracted from the Android O (8.0) Developer Preview 3. I extracted the APK from the sailfish (Google Pixel) and tested it on my SHIELD Tablet, and as it wasn't working I modded it so that it'd work just fine on any Android 6.0.1+ devices.
I have implemented the Google's signature verification patch, as according to this thread so that the application doesn't Force Close on launch, as well as all the goodies from the Pixel Launcher O-3952143 v2 backport.
I've tested the application in my SHIELD Tablet running official LineageOS 13.0 nightlies, as well as in my Wileyfox Swift 2 with Android 7.1.1, and seems to be working like a charm with latest Google Play Services installed.
However, like last time I'd like to roll call all of you to please, test it and report back with any issue you find.

Special thanks to P4Block for having to hear me screaming when the code doesn't work, and Jose (in case you read this), now you know why I was freaking out early today :silly:
Um so what if I'm using v2... Do I still need to uninstall?
No need... I just tried installing it and it failed... I'll try other methods

Isn't working the option to long press an icon to show up shortcuts? For example Google Maps > Go Home, etc... It does depend on the launcher? I've Android 7.0 / LG G5 SE
---------- Post added at 10:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:25 AM ----------
One more thing, is it possible to change the number of icons displayed in a row? I've a 5.3'' and the other launchers give me much more space on the home screen. This one have only space for 4 icons in a row

Only Google knows
Actually, I've seen quite few new things specifically for Android O in the code (making calls to the method isAtLeastO), but nothing as big as the ones in DP2.

You need Android 7.1+ for the DeepShortcuts functionality, it's limited by the APIs.

It's possible to hardcode it but you can also try to modify your screen density (either from the Settings since you're on Android N), or using any other app to change the DPIs system-wide but that'd require root.
Thanks dev

No, since they used their own, proprietary implementation. Maybe once Google releases the source code of Android 8.0 someone tries to work on that, but for now I don't see the point in it.
(What I mean is that, if it was as easy as flicking a switch, I'd have already done that, but it's more complex, and requires some Android 7.1 APIs, so that's why)
@linuxct tnx for flashble zip
Tnx for your hard work

I am on Android beta, running 8.0.0(Nexus 6P) , but I cannot load the applicable Pixel launcher.
I get an error each time.
I was running an older version, but removed it, and still the new one will not load.
Any help would be appreciated.

This mod is intended for users running on older versions of Android, and some functionalities may not work properly in Android 8.0 because of the backport itself... in your case, you can get the official app from APKmirror.

efebedge v0 DQG1
To install root, follow this instructions
1.- Boot into Recovery (TWRP)
2.- Flash ROM (see first post)
3.- Flash SuperSU-v2.79.zip (attached below)
4.- Boot into ROM
5.- Install SuperSU-v2.79.apk (attached below)
Thank you for the ROM. It runs very smoothly and I've encountered no bugs at all so far. I did some additional debloating through TWRP and then added in the Google dialer and other apps and I've finally got a ROM that runs as close as possible to AOSP but still has the Edge and Spen features and none of the AOSP bugs. Again, thank you for sharing this.
Edit: Also, the GraceUI file from these boards works as well and doesn't cause the SystemUI FC. I like the Blue/White scheme a lot better than the blue/neon green of the stock UI, I just flashed through TWRP.

Thanks a lot for ur feedback and im glad u liked the ROM... i might be adding some more stuff in the next release, and i'll try to debloat it a little bit more, probably take out the Tmo apps and put it in a separate package for those users who dont want them in the ROM.
Most of my debloating efforts were around removing the stock Samsung apps and TMO stuff since I'm not using TMO and loaded the pixel/Google apps in place of the stock ones. I do love that the ROM is not rooted though. It's easy enough to debloat in TWRP and things rarely seem to unroot completely.

Great ROM!! One thing I wanted to request: Is it possible to make SELinux permissive?? I use Viper4Android and this is the one thing that prevents me from using it on this ROM.
Let me know... thanks!!
Keep up the good work buddy!!
Service Menu Help Please!
Killer Stock ROM !
Only one issue is: I have one Major Question, How to unlock Service menu & Band Menu? *#Service# & *#BAND# ?
These open, but show nothing. Most work, but the most important. Other ROMs worked. I also have /EFS/carrier/HiddenMenu=ON . That Samsung Phone Info+ app frequently crashes when parsing codes, like something missing from the phone??
PS:Also the "AT&T trick" *#0011# hit menu>back>menu> Q >Menu or 0000, 0 doesn't work...
PSS: Any ETA on the OP post about carrier free edition?

This would require a custom kernel... usually, stock kernels are Enforced... we would have to find someone to create a custom kernel

what xposed is on this rom.
after i install it says that xposed is not installed
i try and install it but it just boot loops
A HUGE mess
A HUGE mess with:
1) Xposed install
2) SafteyNet
3) Google Play Store “Uncertified” status
Been using this [ROM][6.0.1][DQG1] efebedge [915T][0819] by efebe and love it. At the beginning I uninstalled Xposed thinking that I would not need to use it. Then many months later I started doing reading on SafteyNet and also UNCERTIFIED status in the Google play store even though this is a STOCK modified rom. With a PURE stock carrier ROM with no root there is NO PROBLEM with SafteyNet and Uncertified status. But hey, I LOVE my device rooted and I HATE PURE stock carrier ROMS! NO FUN at all.
What I discovered currently as of 3/27/18 is a huge mess. A battle between developers and Google. YOU REALLY NEED TO READ THE POST “Hiding root: a losing game - rant du jour” posted at:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/suhide-lite-t3653855
So I spent days trying BOTH Magisk vs suhide. Results: Both are a MESS ! Both not working. Both are broken. I QUIT !
Then I came across a simple solution. Use Xposed and then install a module called “No Device Check”. PROBLEMS SOLVED ! (see results images below)
Reference reading only:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/suhide-lite-t3653855/page88
If you do a FRESH install of this ROM you will find that Xposed is broken. Bootloop. Finding an Xposed Framwork and Xposed Manager that works was a long long task. To succeed, Get Xposed Installer by dvdandroid and use Xposed Framework version 86.0-alt (custom build by wanam). Success !
You need the following:
files at: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=37508
(also attached)
1) TWRP installed Xposed FRAMEWORK: xposed-v86.0-alt-sdk23-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20160710.zip
2) XposedInstaller_by_dvdandroid_25_12_17.apk

NOTE for framework:
• ARM means the devices that are running arm32 operating system (Galaxy S5, Note4,...)
• ARM64 means the devices that are running arm64 operating system (Galaxy S7/S6, Note5 and all their variants...)
• SDK19 means Android kitkat 4.4.2

A couple of months back I used a tool called "Emoji Tools" to extract and compile Emoji Fonts.
I just downloaded it but it doesn't seem to work. I get this error saying I need Java 8 update 40
However I have Java 8 update 172 installed...
So I'm going to try to fix this. If I get it to work I can update the font file.
Any news on your end @ilivss ? Hope you'll get it working, your module is much appreciated!

Hey, I create a new font with all the new emojis, you can use in your module. Get them from my zips here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/whatsapp-emojis-unicode-11-0-t3880022
I noticed that these were just resized to 128px so I upscale them to look better.
Cheers.
It's deleted from modules.?
What happened?
Please update ??
Hmm font size not right.. v2.0
Why not more avilable in magisk?

Thanks for the useful emoji, Emojis are good in order to save time when communicating.

This post is quite old by now and I notice this project is abandoned and closed by the topic starter.
