How did you update? Via update on phone or did you flash new firmware via pc software, either best thing to do is carry out a factory reset, there is conflicting experiences in terms of battery life mm vs nougat, some say it has better battery life in Nougat others not so much, currently there seems to be certain nougat version firmwares which give better battery life.

I recently unlocked my bootloader and applied Telstra branded JB to my phone, that was previously running stock ICS, performance seems faster, but battery drains much quicker.
What would be the recommended firmware/ROM to enhance my battery performance?
My phone is XT 925.

Hi,
I have really good battery and GPS performance with latest SFR 4.1.2 build Feb 4 ROM.
Bye
I can confirm the good performance of the SFR 4.1.2. I have flashed the retail french 4.1.2 and I think I have shorter battery lifetime.

Thanks for the quick answer!
Now, what I did when I flashed the Telstra one, was to include my carrier's bands to get 4G/HDSPA. Should I do something similar when using this France file? I just wonder because the Australian-European difference, since I'm on an American (region wise) phone.
You are probably right, I can't really tell, but it seems we don't have same band... I'm in France, so no problem for me with SFR ROM.

The one you say is 4.1.1, from the JB thread, or is it another one? That was the only one I could find around.

Flash the SFR rom 4.1.1 then update via OTA ...
You get the 4.1.2 ... Delete all bloatware ...
Wipe data and cache ...
Install your appz ...
Enjoy the great perf and battery...
If you are in LATAM or CANADA ... Flash the radio file from Rogers !

I'm not sure how long your battery used to last before as you didn't specify but I am on stock Telstra JB 4.1.2 and I easily get 2 days out of my battery with moderate use. I'm not sure if I could ask for anything more than that..!!
Cheers

I'm trying to update via OTA, and it downloads, the phone turns down, and then, after a few seconds the android animation appears with a little red triangle, and turns on without update at all... What could I do in this situation?

I'm a heavy user and with ICS I could squeeze 14-15 hours from a charge. With this JB, and same type of use, I can't seem to get more than 10 hours.I'll give this one SFR a spin and report my results. Maybe it's a heavy-battery-use thing.
To have a good battery performance on Jelly Bean you should disable Google Now and all locations related services. After that, you'll enjoy a better smartphone than ever.

Thanks for the advice! I guess Google Now eats up more battery than I thought.
Also this SFR version seems to be doing wonders for my battery. Now I get 20 hours-1 day of usage, with the same amount of use!
Now I just wonder if there's a workaround for installing the OTA update because I tried several times and it's not taking.
Hello guys,
I've downloaded firmware 5.1.1 for my Galaxy S6 SM-G920F but I didn't flash it because some of the websites said that it will cause battery drainage very badly.
Any one has done it? what about solving Ram issue? any information please

If no, update to 5.1.1

Just curious, what difference does it make if he has tripped Knox or not?
Frankly I never used Knox and what is has to do with the update?

Because if you update to 5.1.1 you have to break/trip knox to gain root, but if you have 5.0.2 you won't have to
Thanks for the info,
What about downgrading? Is it possible to get back to 5.0.2 after the update?
Sent from my SM-G920F

5.1.1 is much smoother and have less battery drain in my opinion.
I don't care about knoxx, the only thing what is important is smoothness of my phone.
I tryed custom recovery, stock recovery, root, no root,
And to be honest now I'm running the latest Xtrestolite (odex) and it's the best update till now! ( in my opinion )
5.1.1 will come to you at some point weather you like it or not. Best version of 5.1.1 is the one offered via OTA which is specific to your country. No fears of bricking your phone or voiding your warranty. A little patience is needed to wait for it as Samsung deploys it slower than we expected it. If you are the one who cares only for the latest which on most cases is the greatest and willing to take risks then flash away.
Thanks guys for the answers,
Mine is SM-G920F which the update came for france! Is it workable in other countries?
I'm just wondering is the 920F the more popular international model over the 920I? I have the 920F by the way.
There seems to be all kinds of bugs with 5.1.1, is it worth updating to it? If anything, I think I'll at least wait for the OTA, I live in America so will I get the OTA at same time as others around the world?
Can anyone confirm longer exposures than 1/10 sek in 5.1.1? For example try Manual Camera. In 5.0.2 the max. exposure is 1/10
Thanks!
I've updated it and its really smooth and faster.
But unfortunately the Ram Issue is the same! Still reaching 88%!!
Its a large update, its o er 500mb. I updated with no problems. I find the battery life a bit better. The phone runs smoother and there are a few extras with camera. I'm nit a camera person but do a search and you'll get the idea of the chance. You can now get rid off s finder and quick connect. Other features too. I like the update and Knox is not important to me, however. YOU CAN'T ROOT, right now.

Says Kernel not supported and it wont boot. Now have to use Odin to get back. 920P is not supported! Can't get back thru Odin so I'm letting it boot. Taking a long time and but finally there. I had to wipe everything. I'll let you know if it's rooted now. It booted but can;t use touch.
Did you guys update to 5.1 via ota? I'm in the UK with a non branded s6 and nothing available for me
Hey guys, I just saw that 5.1.1 has been available for my N915G for some time now. I would like to ask how people are feeling about it in terms of performance? I was on 5.0.1 awhile back and it was so laggy and slow that I eventually downgraded to 4.4.4 (at times, I wouldn't even be able to answer calls because the phone would ring but the phone was so laggy that the screen wouldn't turn on until after they hung up).
I'm very happy with the performance of 4.4.4 now but I do like the features in Lollipop so I just wanted to ask if it's safe to jump back in? I heard that it's not possible to downgrade after flashing 5.1.1 so I need to be sure before taking the dive. Thanks a lot in advance!

Thanks for the reply. Although I am always a little cautious when I hear people say there's no lag at all. I have never had a non-stock Android phone that was lag free (well, with the exception of my old Z1 Compact maybe). Even on 4.4.4 where the performance is far better than on 5.0.1, there is noticeable but tolerable lag at times. But still, I'm glad to hear you're having a good experience on it!

It depends on what version of the Note Edge you're on. Mine is SM-N915G (yours could be 9150, 915F, 915FY etc.) and sammobile.com listed 5.1.1 as being available. Then you need to flash it through odin. There are tons of guides around for that if you do find a compatible firmware for you.
I have 915G. Can you please provide any updated working guide /links?

Well I haven't done it yet myself but I'm pretty sure it works the same way as with previous firmwares. There are heaps of guides here and elsewhere that describe the steps to using Odin such as this one. And get the firmware from here.
Question for the more knowledgeable people: Does the baseband version on my current firmware have to match with the one I'm trying to flash from Sammobile?

Shouldn't matter, it's the "G" that's important.
There is both a Telstra rom and a generic rom of 5.1.1 so you should be good to go.
If you want to get root access you will need to flash a 5.1.1 root enabled kernel however...

Hi, I have terrible battery life since I receive the Oreo update so I would like to rollback to Nougat, on which battery life was just fine for me. I tried lots of different methods found on various websites but none has worked.
I'm currently on stock FRD-L09C432B521 firmware with bootloader unlocked.
Does anyone know a method that actually works ? Thanks in advance !
I think your battery's dead...
I've updated to oreo since he got out but the battery life has never changed
