Good Lock for Nougat? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any word on Good Lock for Nougat? Or a modified apk that works with Nougat?

I've been searching too - actually put off my nougat update for months because of it. Finally updated for security's sake, & now very sad with my phone's behavior, look... ?

I just wish I could find the Galaxy app store after Nougat... It's disappeared.

@Jizzylax - I've found when other apps seemed to have disappeared, if I use the search function while in the app drawer, it finds the app...

"Classic" dialpad for KitKat and Lollipop

I like to see good old dialpad on my phone screen when I'm about to make a call.
Unfortunately Google decided that calling on the phone using numpad is a secondary feature but fortunately I work in a company that employs few Android developers and they did a 2 minute side project for me. The result is an app that launches dialpad within the stock phone app so that I can replace the phone icon on my home screen with the one that takes me direct to good old phone interface. (icon is labeled "Call")
I have tested the app on my Nexus 5 with both Android version. 4.4.4 and 5.0 and it seems to work fine.
Probably I'm not the only one who misses the old phone interface but who would like to keep using the stock dialer app, so i decided to share what I got for fixing it

Update 04.08.2016
Sorry for not keeping this thread up to date but i have posted the app to Play Store ages ago.
I can't post links but search for "Classic Dialer for Lollipop" in Play store.
Update 07.11.2016
Changed the name of the app in Play Store to plain and simple "Dialpad".

Thank you so much for this! I can't believe this did not receive more attention. Works great on Slim 4.4.4. :good:

No, you are not the only one. I really hated it when I first tried KitKat and Lollipop, and the numpad / digits would not show right away. Thank you for sharing this with everyone, it works great on Lollipop. :good:
I believe this still exists in Marshmallow. Google should really make this an option in the default app. The current behavior does not work for everyone and not everyone will find your app (or even bother looking).
5.0, 5.01, 6.x confirmed!
So...months have gone by with this annoyance... I'm running CM13, Android M.. like the other guy said, I cannot believe this app hasn't gained more attention. I have found that some of this is due to the wording of the issue at hand...kept getting alternative dialer apps in my results....BLASPHEMY... So..yeah.. So everyone knows, this also works with not only the stock dialer, but Dialer for Hangouts as well as Skype.
Too bad I can only hit "THANKS" once...
Thank you.
How to install DialerLauncher?
How to install DialerLauncher?
Newbe
with no intention to hijack your great contriubtion:
there's an xposed module that does the same thing with native app>> show dialpad
where were you before i found out this one?!
i'm sure most of the people don't want to mess with xposed, like myself, and will appreciate the provided solution(s)....
:good:
A Little Added Information...
It works very well under Nougat also. :good: Use the back button to access the recent's list.
This works on Marshmallow, if someone's wondering.
Ran across this thread trying to find a solution for the same problem. Having had a look at the linked app, I realized it was just sending some kind of intent that caused the phone app to open to the dialpad. Long story short, the Tasker "Call" action (with no phone number specified) does the same thing, so if you have Tasker, you can just create a shortcut to a task with that one action.
Well done! Thank you!
I DLed, from Play Store, following the link in the OP.
No more favorites page, when opening dialer! If you do want the favorites page, just hit the back button after opening dialer.
After a reboot it still opens the dial pad!
Using on the Moto Dialer app on Moto Z2 Play.
GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!
Works on motor 4 on 7.1.1 thanks for this
Still works on Stock Nougat. Thanks.
Awesome! Thanks so much. Just what I was looking for! ??

Notifidgets

I just updated to 5.1.1 (I know) and discovered the loss of the ability to put widgets on the lockscreen. Reading about it I discovered that Notifidgets was recommended to restore that ability. But I can't find it anywhere including the Play store.
Was it removed or discontinued for some reason? Are there alternatives?

The lock screen widgets as they appeared up until 4.4.4 was removed by Google when they released 5.0. The official reasoning was that they were "security issues". So you are extremely limited in what you can use now that you've moved on from KK. There are apps like NiLS for example, that offer a little more usability on the lock screen, but honestly nothing like what was on KK and below.,
Thank you for replying. I can see where they could be a security problem, but it is a real shame. I've looked at the options of using notifications as a partial solution but, you are correct, they are far from satisfactory. Makes me consider flashing kk again! Maybe xposed has a module to restore lockscreen widgets.

S7 as close to stock as possible?

Hi. I would like to explain what i want to achieve and maybe some of you guys can help me out.
I am on stock Nougat with my S7. I've tried lineage and some other roms but I am not very satisfied.
I woulld like to stay on stock, but get the closest to stock as possible.
I would like to: Install Pixel Launcher and Assistant (i heard that might come soon anyway). I want to disable HW buttons and add on screen nav bar (i think maybe xposed can do that). I would like to flash google apps, like phone, messaging, etc.
Is this possible? I saw I can root my nougat s7 just not sure if what i want is achievable. Thanks!
Dan
The closest I've gotten without rooting or changing the kernel was doing the following:
- Buy and install Nova Launcher and find a backup on the web that will restore it to look like the Pixel.
- Install Pixel Icon Pack-Nougat Free UI
- Go to the theme store and install Pixelize or Material Design.
- Buy Package Disabler Pro from policedeveloper to disable Samsung apps (no root required)
That's the closest to stock I got.
Why not use the Google Now Launcher? Swap Samsung's stock apps for Google's and add in the pill widget etc if required too. Should be able to get close fairly easily.

That would only be a temporary solution given Google will remove it soon from the store.

Side-Loading BlinkFeed shouldn't be too difficult, but,if it were me,I'd look for something else:
BlinkFeed is powered by NewsRepublic, which is owned by CheetahMobile, the owners of the infamous crapware/snoopware CleanMaster.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/0...s-app-empire-buying-news-republic-57-million/
I was a huge fan of BlinkFeed until CheetahMobile stepped into the picture, haven't used it since......
EDIT:
Just a BTW:
Samsung devices also ship w/CheetahMobile crapware, under the name of "Device Maintenance":

I'd at minimum get Package Disabler Pro to freeze/disable this crapware, short of full root/ROMs.

Look in your system apps &/or use a good file browser.
If you still can't see it,try one of the Package Disabler apps in the Google Play Store.
Or,if you want to see some screenshots of what I've disabled on my Note 4/Note5/Note 7,do a search of my posts & you'll stumble across the bloat-spyware.

@GreeleyXda
Isn't FlipBoard a built-in Samsung app?
IIRC,it's just a swipe away on the stock Samsung Launcher...............

Question Is there a way to implement Good Lock on Pixel phones

Hello, tired of Samsung, I'm back to Google (I had stopped with the 5 model). I was wondering if there's any way to implement some of the modules of the Good Lock by Samsung. I found an old guide (2019) that suggested that it was possible using Fine Lock and and then installing the different modules using Split APK app.
Anyone knows anything about it or any new way to implement it? Some of the modules are nice to have (Task Changer, Clock to modify the AOD screen, Quickstar and some others).
Thanks
Luca
Good luck installing Good Lock.

None of those will be compatible on the Pixel. Samsung's OneUI is very different to Pixel's android flavor
