CPU Version? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I believe the S8/S8+ in Europe is meant to come with the new Exynos 8895 10nm CPU, as was marketed.
Interested to know what yours are packing, as according to CPU-Z, mines running an Exynos 8890 14nm (UK, Unlocked) so I'm pretty confused.
Not sure if it's an erroneous report from CPU-Z.

Perhaps get a second opinion? I hear good things about AIDA64 for reporting phone specs accurately.

It shows 14nm for me too in CPU-Z, incorrect, AnTuTu score of close to 180,000 proves that it can't be an inferior processor. AIDA64 shows it as 10nm accurately, just the CPU-Z app that's not showing it accurately

Check with AIDA. Using it for long time, great prog

CPU-Z does not display the correct CPU model until it is updated to do so.
Use another app as mentioned above.

Mine has Exynos 8895 10nm through Optus here in Australia.

Mine 10 nm from Germany

Its a well known issue at this point that its an error with CPU-Z.
A simple search would have told you the same thing.

Samsung Galaxy S3 on AnTuTu

Anyone else have Galaxy S3 specs on AnTuTu benchmark? I was running some tests and saw this...
Sorry for the quality, took with my Focus Flash.
All the specs look good except for the 4212 Exynos processor. Isnt that Samsungs dual core processor with no embedded LTE?
Hmmm.....it seems there will be really a 1.4Ghz processor within. They are considering to improve the OS before they go for more hardware......
I hoped for little more juce.....

yeah, that was the one they announced back in september, people thought it would be in the gnex I think

Red5, didn't expect to see you here.
But yeah, you're right. Even though it's dual core, it seems to have better battery consumption than the Galaxy S II chip and "50% better GPU performance."

Edit: Just submitted this thread to Engadget. Let's see if they bite...
Edit2: Yup, found it through AnTuTu as well. It says "Certified Configuration" if that means anything.
Previous leaks have been of a quad-core phone, how does this being a dual core chip make any sense?
Edit: also the 4212 is clocked at 1.5 ghz, why is this reporting it at 1.4?

Not at all! Or it's again dust in the wind? Soon we'll know
I think this is fake, i don't believe that Samsung could launch the Galaxy S3 with a dual-core A9 at this time... the previous leaks points to a quad-core processor - Exynos 4414.
This also could be one of the samples used for tests...
I it's true it sucks and won't really be able to compete with the IP5. Or are they aiming to smoke the now old IP4s? ... Not that impressive at all.
If it's true i think i would buy the HTC ONE X (Tegra3)
So if I overclocked my GNote's gpu I would get similar performance? If so then it looks like I'll be keeping my Note for another year.

According to the bar graphs in antutu, the S3 would be just a bit under twice as powerful as the Note - which runs dual A9s at 1.4GHz also. The 32nm Mali-400s have been clocked 50% higher, which is the main performance difference - and that wouldn't go anywhere near explaining the massive overall performance gap. However that combined with an additional two A9 cores seems fairly realistic.
Either it's a complete fake, or it's just mislabeled - and is actually a 4412. Since this is reality, I'd lean towards the former.

You can overclock an S2 or Note's GPU to 400mhz with Tegrak OC Ultimate, which is double the stock 266mhz.
EDIT:
http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/25/2975835/samsung-14gz-exynos-4-quad-processor-next-galaxy?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews
So it's quad core but still Mali-400 at 400mhz.

Yep. Seems like AnTuTu didn't know what chip it was so they reported it as a 4212.

In the video they compare Exynos 4 dual vs quad and the quad is labeled as Exynos 4212 so it seems Antutu was correct.

It seems that Samsung change the name of the chips, see this http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_announces_new_quadcore_exynos_4_quad_processor-news-4160.php.
4212 - Quad-Core
4210 - Dual-Core
Now the name on the Antutu makes sense.

[Q] Exynos 4x12 - SMDK4x12 - Exynos 5250 - is it a Dual or a Quad Core CPU?

Hello guys,
I'm kinda confused here.
I'm asking about a CPU I seen some phones and tablets claim that they have it as a Quad Core processor but somehow in other places like in Antutu and other benchmark programs it'll say something else.
now in the Chinese phone Market you'll see a new line of Quad Core Devices, tablets or phones.
they say they have: Samsung Exynos 4412 CPU and as far as I know this is a Quad Core Processor.
but when u launch Antutu for example on some of these new Chinese Devices you'll see it says:
Exynos 4x12
and will show something like this:
CPU Hardware: SMDK4x12
CPU model: Dual-Core ARMv7 Processor (VFPv3, NEON)
Click to collapse
and actually when I read: Exynos 4x12 so the "X" doesn't clear it for me is it: 4212 the dual core one or the 4412 the Quad core one.. u see what I mean?
this is really confusing.
try for yourself searching for Galaxy s3 Clones or knockoff - Galaxy Note 2 Clones or knockoff and u'll see similar things to what I'm asking about.
also the GPU shows in some of these phones claiming to have Quad Core Exynos 4412 that it's: powervr sgx531, while the Samsung Exynos Quad core will have GPU: Mali-T604
lol the whole thing is messed up there..
hope that someone would come and clear it out so we dont get scammed when buying these devices.
thanks
Most Galaxy S2 or S3 clones and knock-offs use an MTK chipset such as the 6575 or the 6577. These would normally be paired with a previous-gen GPU such as the PowerVR SGX 530 or 531.
It is quite easy to modify Android to display a string about the CPU, anything you want really.
A true Exynos CPU will ship with a Mali GPU. The 4x series shipped with the Mali-400, the Exynos 5 in the Chromebook and Nexus 10 ships with the Mali-604, as you stated.
In short, you won't find an Exynos device without a Mali GPU. If it lists anything else - you're probably being misled
thx juzz86 for your reply.
u know what is making this confusion in my opinion?
it's when u read the CPU saying this:
CPU Hardware: SMDK4x12
Click to collapse
SMDK stands for: Samsung Mobile Developers Kit and the 4x12 most people will think it's the Quad Core Exynos 4412 cause in the advertisement of the device(s) the sellers claim it has Quad Core processor.
so I found out that: reading SMDK4x12 or even SMDK4412 doesn't mean that the processor itself is the Exynos 4412 Quad Core.
the funny thing is when I demand from some sellers to go online with me and to turn on the camera so I can see for myself whats going on, only then they get scared when they see me ask alot about the CPU and that I doubt it's the Quad Core.
I also have to confess that some of them (the sellers) honestly didn't know that they have a Dual Core Device and not a Quad Core.
so guys... watch out and pay extra attention to the new Claimed to be Samsung Exynos Quad Core 4412 Processor.
ask for proof and Guarantees, and good luck
thanks again juzz
Yes mate, always pays to ask a lot of questions before buying one of these. Unfortunately as you say, most sellers don't understand what they are selling, just that it is 'dual-SIM'.
There is a pretty good following behind at least two of the clones here in the 'General' and 'Android Hacking' forums. Doing a quick search should pull up some.root methods as well.
MTK are getting better, and now even have a quad-core CPU in the works. That'll be a compelling option for some knock-offs, for sure!
Happy buying mate!

[Discussion] GalaxyNoteIII -Exynos vs. Qualcomm

Hi
Discuss and Compare Note III Exynos vs. Qualcomm
General Performance
- Performance of Gaming
- Performance of (using another apps)
Battery Life
& etc.
Note III N9000 will brings real Octa-Core /Exynos 5 Octa 5420 (N9000)
It means u have 4+4 cores to work with true 3GB of RAM; it seems best thing for multi-taskers...
and it might get best cpu performance (highest benchmark) even with bad hardware calibration!
Adreno 330 N9005 (Snapdragon) & Mali-T628 MP6 N9000 (Exynos) are almost similar
both have OpenCL, OpenGL ES 3.0, Renderscript Compute and etc.
infact thr s no technical reasons to get which one is better
so in my opinion in depend on ROM how to use GPU
S-Lag
the famous lag in launcher of galaxy device (touch wiz) > not found anything about it yet
But it s depend on time when do heavy using. so nothing to compare
Battery and charge
both Snapdragon 800 & Exynos 5420 (little.BIG) have energy efficient feature but there s better energy usage in N9005 (Snapdragon800) related to this video, Watch and some another report.
(will update with more choice and result)

Qualcomm version wins hands down...maybe not in benchmarks but it will get cm for shure
These threads are pretty useless,we don't even have any information about real life performance of Exynos Note 3 and since it is certainly first soc of its own type ,we will have to see.
No offence to OP or any one
Edit:There are 2-3 threads discussing the same thing.

this thread will update with more info
this means it s not just for 1-2 days
it will work months after releasing the phone
and we have info about phone from preview version of note3 (~80% of performance and etc)
we have lots of benchmark and performance report
display quality, sound quality
So if u didn't check them search it NOW and then discuss here
:good:
which version do you think it will have the most dev support?
Even though i live in India where we are going to get the exynos version, I'd prefer the snapdragon version. Im new here, but doesnt 1.3 and 1.9GHz seem less for a high end premium smartphone? Also Snapdragon will get cm for sure,

as u can check benchmarks of Octa version of Galaxy S4 u can realize that Octa-core of course has better performance than quad
the final quad-core antutu of note3 will be ~34,000 and octa will be 35,000 (at least)
:good:
Some of the things I value are stability and low heat. I'm experiencing possible stability issues with Nexus 7 (2013) based on Snapdragon S4 Pro/600 where on level 10 in Modern Combat 3 it's not only heating up the device making it very warm but the game is also exiting consistently when this happens. I don't have that issue with the Exynos based Note II so I'm leaning towards preferring the Exynos 5420 in the Note III. Btw, Exynos is fabbed by Samsung while Snapdragon is fabbed by TSMC. IMHO, Samsung fab is better.
Sammy will include HMP in their octacore processors through a software upgrade .so all samsung octacore devices will become true octacore devices
So guess which will have high performance? Real octacore exynos 5420 or sd800??

While a cool feature, I'm not sure how many CPU bottlenecks are going to be multithreaded to the point that adding the four slower cores will provide a substantial benefit. I also have concerns that with all eight cores running, heat throttling would kick in pretty quickly. My guess would be that, both in benchmarks and in real-world situations, the 800 is usually going to come out on top.
In HMP this is what really gonna happen:
Small processes like texting, calling , etc... low powered A7 cpu's will be switched
Big processes like gaming , Benchmarking , 1080p video capturing etc... both A7 and A15 cores will be combined together and throttle the device upto the max perfomance
So the device will be power efficient and we can clearly see the dominated benchmark scores and RLP over sd 800 (this would be pretty like the perfomance b/w a dual cored device and a quad cored device)

Galaxy s7 SM-G930PZDASPR Which CPU?

Hello I'm wondering if it's worth pursuing rooting this phone.
I looked up the specs and see both Snap Dragon and EXYNOS ?
I know that the snap dragons seem to be a problem and I really think this is probably one of those.
Does anyone have a suggestion of a method that would be good for this phone?
Try installing cpu-z or aida64 and check whether it's exynos based or snapdrag based

Phone is out right now and I won't have it back until tomorrow but this is from the specs for this particular phone maybe you can tell.
Platform OS Android OS, v6.0 (Marshmallow), upgradable to v7.0 (Nougat)
Chipset Exynos 8890 Octa
CPU Octa-core (4x2.3 GHz Mongoose & 4x1.6 GHz Cortex-A53)
GPU Mali-T880 MP12
I'm pretty sure those specs aren't correct this one must be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Model
Phone already loaded Nougat.
Snapdragon
