Let me first start off by saying that I just signed up here as it looked like a good forum to be a part of for mobile device mods, etc. Also I hope that I'm not coming off on the wrong foot by immediately seeking help and info for my device.
The above being said I'm looking for a bit of input and knowledge as to how I could go about converting my Korean model Samsung Galaxy s8+ to be more like the standard common US model? Some things that are bundled or part of the phone is strictly Korean only one of these things being the web browser and also a few other things.
Also because of this being a Korean Korea Telcom model s8 it gets weather via my sim or service provider. I tried to change / add my current location to get weather for my current location but it was a no go. Also the phone is unlocked though at times I occasionally get the no service icon pop up in which I'm unable to make or receive calls. And if this is a help my current wireless carrier is AT&T.
Any and all help and info would be greatly appreciated regarding how I can go about converting or making this device as close to possible as the US model.

# Thanks first to ketut.kumajaya. This is not intended as a complaint against him or his amazing contributions, but need to find a solution and I hope this could also help others in the same situation.
I have a P3100 using ketut.kumajaya's Samsung-based ROM. He states states that it is based on P3100ZSDMD1, region BRI rebranded as XSE - whatever "rebranding" means.
Anyway, with this ROM initially I got zero phone audio in either direction - I couldn't hear anything once the call connected and the other party couldn't hear me. I noticed that this setup defaults to a different set of APNs - somehow I wind up with Fido's (my carrier) LTE APNs. I changed these manually to the original APNs that worked in another ROM - comprising fido-core-appl1.apn and internet.fido.ca - and I could finally hear the call, but the other party still can't hear me and to date this is where I am stuck.
I think my no-audio problem has something to do with the baseband radio or region used. One giveaway sign is that this ROM downloads a different set of APNs (LTE ones!) from my mobile carrier than CM does. I don't know anything about "rebranding" referred-to in the OP of ketut's thread, but maybe this broke something? CM10.1, which uses P3100XXLE3, works fine. Is there any way to change the region and/or baseband, either through a prop. setting, script or manually swapping baseband files from another ROM from http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-P3100?
If anyone knows how I can fix this while retaining ketut's awesome ROM, I would greatly appreciate it. Since the P3100 was never marketed by any carrier in Canada, there is no phone radio specifically for Fido/Rogers' networks in Canada, therefore the only recourse seems to be to use one from a different region that is "most compatible."
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I give "thanks" generously.
Hello everyone,
What I want to do is ... simple... tho might not be that easy to do. I am moving to another country, and I will have a new phone number there. I would like to keep my current number from the home country functioning, but would prefer not to pay roaming. So the idea would be: leave one android phone at home country, always plugged in, and when necessary, use my new android device in the new country to access the other one for calls, sms, etc...
Is there an app for that?
I might also be complicating, there might be a better way... Advice me on this one if you can help, please. Thanks.
Dear Group
I am not sure if I am in the right place but I am looking for some help with the above watch.
The supplier Gearbest is not helpful at all.
This has forced me to seek help else where. I tried scouting around to find out who makes this watch then obtain perhaps an email . The supplier Gearbest will not release details of who makes this watch or a support email address. This has forced me to do my own searching.
I found a company who makes Rwatch but the the fellow I emailed deny this is their watch.
My problem is thus I bought the above watch. From Gearbest. It arrived here and fully functional except no communication via GSM ie cell phone data . I paid Gearbest a fee and they sent me a replacement watch and exactly the same problem it arrived fully functional but. No communication via GSM ie cell phone data.
We import a variety of gps tracking devices the majority have to be set up especially setting the apn depending on the cell service provider, I was wondering if the apn on this watch is not set correctly, hence the lack of data, it seems to me impossible that two watches of the same brand etc don't work on arrival here in South Africa.
I tried an alternative cell phone service providers sim cards in the hope that one would by chance work but alas I could get no joy.
I tried to plug the watch in to my pc via usb cable thinking I could perhaps telnet but could not make any progress on my own.
I was wondering if any one here knows who actually makes these watches, perhaps a support email address would really be helpful.
Alternately Is there any way of finding out if the watch is set up to the correct apn for example. How would that be checked via a sms command or a telnet session. Is there software that I can install that can probe the smart watch for its settings via the usb cable.
To me it seems silly to send the watches back at a cost to me and only to have them send another watch and we persist with the same impasse.
I was hoping with a bit of help or pointer and a few keystrokes we can have the watches fully working in no time.
If this is the wrong place to seek this type of help could you please direct me where to go to get the help I am asking for.
Thank you for your time and trouble reading this and any help you may be able to provide me with.
Regards

Awhile back my S5 became bricked, stuck in a boot-loop. (Had previously rooted and tried unsuccessfully to unroot... ) Sought help from FreedomPop and Samsung, neither of which would (or could) hook me up with a reload of the factory firmware. (Freedompop customer service was most unhelpful, other than to tell me what they couldn't and/or wouldn't do for me. ) Therefore, I dug up a Sprint firmware on the Samsung site, ROM version MMB29M.G900PVPU3CPH3, Baseband version G900PVPU3CPH3, and flashed it, which fixed everything but my phone stuff, I'm guessing due to CDMA/CSC being Sprint's or somesuch? Recently, after upgrading to FreedomPop's Premium Voice, CDMA was apparently updated and the phone worked for a bit, until I ran "soft dial reset", which I think probably reverted back to Sprint's CDMA settings?.? Anyway, after stopping and restarting the Premium Voice service, now my phone can make outgoing calls again, but now receives no calls. (I can call myself and hear continual ringing instead of a busy signal, having not activated voicemail.)
Bottom line, I'd love to quit all this noise, reload the factory Freedompop ROMware, and get back to a stock phone which works. Trouble is, I can't find the firmware. Can anyone steer me to a link where I can download it (I think I know how to load it once I have it), or to a place (such as BestBuy, etc.) who can reload it for me? I'd rather do it myself, but if that's not possible, where can I have it done?
Alternately, I don't mind continuing to run the Sprint Android 6.01 but then would like to know how to correct the phone settings (CDMA/CSC etc.) from Sprint to whatever my FreedomPop account is looking for. Any and all suggestions to return my phone to good working order are highly appreciated!
Hi All,
It is my request that if you have not tried this or witnessed it first hand, do not reply. I've siphoned through entirely too many threads with those quick to respond no only to have the "no" be proven wrong within the same thread.
That being said: Project Fi
Officially only supported on several devices. The biggest feature lost to those who do not use a supported device is the ability to switch between networks. While I'm still on the fence with rooting my S9 (assuming I'll have to), one thread I found with several confirmations seemed a bit promising to keep the roaming feature.
Editing build.prop to reflect a Pixel 2 allows the device to be activated. While several individuals confirmed this works to activate, none have confirmed whether the roaming feature works as well. Theoretically, it should. Others have lost this feature because the IMEI of the 'surrogate' phone is whats being registered. Makes sense since Sprint (and I believe US Cellular as well) is like Verizon in that they register the device vs the sim (Of course more complex than that, just typing through the logic).
Therefore, if editing the build.prop allows you to activate Google Fi then theoretically the IMEI of said device should also be registered and should work. I'm looking for confirmation on this. There's also a big question about the ability to edit build.prop without rooting and implications on KNOX, Samsung Pay, etc which is why I'm hesitating. Just looking for this first bit of information first.

Are you talking in terms of just activating service? if so, i have a vzw s9+ and i switched to fi, just flashed to xaa and popped in the fi sim. no problems.

I read here on XDA that Google Fi would be able to be activated on other devices and I'm almost positive the S9/9+ were included. You wouldn't need to edit build.prop or anything. You wouldn't get automatic network switching though since that's a hardware / firmware thing from what I remember reading. The service itself would work and you wouldn't need a surrogate phone to make it work initially.
Whether that's live or not yet I don't know. Rooting any Samsung device past the S4 or S5 I believe trips Knox permanently. That's also assuming you don't have a u965 / u960 device, which can't be unlocked / rooted.
