Help! Fingerprint sensor fails - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I have got the C185B158 for five days and here is the things i have done so far;
1. Update to C185B172 via firmware finder
2.Noticed that fingerprint sensor does not work consistently
3.Hard rest, noticed that it worked for a while than back to failure again
4.Check HWOTA method, fail to rebrand and update for 15 times.
5.Succesfull update to c432b182 but fingerprint sensor still doesn't work
6.I thought maybe update file wasn't right. Update to c432b180. Sensor still doesn't work
7.After official release of b182. update to c432b156 to get update from OTA to somehow fix it.
8. Fingerprint sensor still doesn't work.
Bear in mind that problem started with firmware finder update.

Does the phone vibrate when you try and use the scanner (Like a failed print)? or is it completely unresponsive?

if i restart the phone its work for few mintues
Weird because I don't have this issue. However I had to perform a factory data reset through stock recovery because my internal storage was reading 16gb not 32gb. I mention this because maybe that'll help u. Plus I'm completely stock so far.
Have the same issue. Its so annoying. My brother and i did the updates on 2 phones. Mine has the issue, his is working fine. Any solution
I'm having the same issue, I pushed the OTA update via ADB first and has this issue. Then i tried A factory reset and still had it. Then I tried flashing the factory image using fastboot and I'm still having this problem. Everything else seems to be working great.
Do you guys think its an app related issue?
I don't think so, i booted into safe mode and still had this problem, unless the issue is being caused by a native app.
Yeh tried that too. Same thing. How come my brothers phone is fine tho
I don't know man, hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge will be able to help us out, glad I'm not alone though lol.
I fixed mine! I just needed to re-install my factory image manually. Follow the directions in this thread and use method 2.

I thought I do that on my phone too with no success. I used the nexus toolkit tho. Does it make a difference
*EDIT*
Never mind, it's still broke, I let the phone sit for about an hour and when I came back the sensor wasn't responding again.. I give up.

what if it is an application that is causing this?
No sorry, it took about an hour but the problem came back. I didn't have any apps downloaded yet and it still happened. I would try though, can't really hurt anything. Maybe it will work for you. I'm just tired of rebuilding my whole phone every time, I'm going to ride it out maybe someone will figure something out.
Can you guys try disabling google play services. I have it disabled for 30 min now and looks like its kk
Is yours still working? I just tried this and besides making the phone generally unusable it did nothing, sensors still didn't work. I think I may flash back to 4.4.4, I'm really tired of all this tinkering just to get things working correctly.
Nope. Didn't work. Is your phone a replacement phone by any chance? I called google they acknowledged a firmware bug. They will get back to me soon
No, mine is a launch device. Did they tell you any specifics?
Sensors work fine for me.

Fingerprint sensor issue

Hi,
After updating to 7.0 nougat by official Europe update,
My fingerprint sensor stopped responding, when I'm trying to add new fingerprint it wouldn't let me even try, It shows a message (Attention: make sure that the home key is clean and dry, then try again) and then it goes back to the main lock screen settings menu.
I'm really desperate, already tried everything, plz help!

Have you tried to factory reset or just flash android 7.0 with Odin. I would recommend wiping after installing an update like 7.0 anyway updating always causes bugs and issues for me.

I also just updated my SM-G935FD via OTA to Android version 7.0.
Since then, fingerprint scanner is not working. Like for OP, all tests fail under HwModuleTest.
I tried to remove all fingerprints, but it is impossible to add new fingerprints - the error message is "Make sure that the Home key is clean and dry, then try again." Obviously, the fingerprint sensor is as dry and clean as it was before the update (when it worked perfectly).
Since then I tried, unsuccessfully:
- removing old fingerprints and adding new fingerprints (does not work, cf. above)
- formatting cache partition
- performing a hardware reset
- flashed the stock firmware G935FXXU1DQB3 with Odin
Please advice, thanks.

If you have tried to flash stock firmware in Odin, I'm really not sure what the issue is, if it was just a glitch in the software it should probably have been fixed by a wipe and flash with Odin. If your phone is still under warranty I would bring it back into the Samsung shop or contact them over the internet to inquire about fixing it.
The same exact problem has happened to me too . I'm tired of unlocking with patterns
What should we do ?
This cannot be a hardware issue cuz phone was fine right before the update

Do you still have the issue ?
I have the same problem ???
What the way to fix this issue
I had that problem sometimes and in the end the main reason was really sweat on my fingers and dirt on the home button.
I know this doesn't sound like a solution, but it surprised me as well. Just try drying your fingers and clean the surface of the home button.
Hi There! I encountered the same issue earlier but then suddenly my fingerprint sensor works normally. The last thing I that I made changes to my phone was to reset the password of my samsung account. Not if there was a security breach that happened but after resetting the password, works fine for me. I suggest that you back up your phone's data before and after resetting your Samsung account.
I have this problem for 1 year, tried to change the password but didnt work.
IS someone still struggling with this problem ? Yesterday i upgraded to DevBase 6.0 Oreo newest build. But after the flashing process the fingerprint sensor act in a unusual manner. Sometimes i could unlock the phone sometimes it directly jumps to the pattern unlock screen. Any news about the problem ? I wiped cache/dalvik and i resetted my password of the samsung account - nothing helps.
Any help, ideas, links are highly appreciated
Cheers

Honor 6x fingerprint sensor stopped working

Hello
Earlier today I had this weird problem. My phone didn't wake up on tapping fingerprint sensor. So I unlocked my phone
Checked the settings.. fingerprint settings were there but I couldn't make any changes.
So I restart the device.. Same problem
Then I powered off device, and on power on.. I was able to use fingerprint sensor again.
But after sometime, same problem reoccurred. Repeat the above procedure.. problem gone.
But Now my finger print sensor settings were completely gone from settings
So I tried following
1- Reset All settings Failed
2- Restore factory settings from settings Failed
3- Powered off device.. Volume up + power key => Wipe data/ factory restore
(Fingerprint settings reappears)
But now when I try to enroll new fingerprint..
It doesn't even give me chance to tap finger on fingerprint sensor. Just throw the following error
Enrol Fail
Failed to construct fingerprint
Try enrolling another finger
Note:
my device is on emui 4.1
Build # BLN-L21C185B131
Pls help

That's really weird...the same thing happened to me about two hours ago, although I rebooted and it hasn't happened again. I'll keep doing it every time I walk by my phone and see if it does.
Kind of suspicious, lol.
Edit: Mentioned this to my wife, and she said hers did the same thing, at about the same time. Maybe that function won't work if the secret chinese fingerprint collecting server is down. Weird...

I kinda fixed it by wiping out cache partition before hard reset.
But now they are gone again It's a software issue for sure.
What build you are actually on?

fingerprint sensor
Hello, for a month, my fingerprint sensor, of the Honor 6X, does not work anymore. Fingerprint sensor is no longer in settings. I think maybe this will come back after the update to android 7 Nougat. Men unfortunately now, fingerprint sensor is no longer in the settings.

If it's no longer in the settings, it's probably due to software issues (not hardware).
Try to update and see if it changes or not

I think i messed up, NRD90M Test keys

I updated my stock L09C636B170 to B560(I think, cant check with it just saying test keys) using Firmware finder proxy method . Everything seemed to be in order, it downloaded the update and applied it.
System seems faster but I've noticed that my bluetooth can't be turned on (I use it frequently for my smartwatch and car). Also certain apps seem to be missing. (clock, updater, etc)
I'm not sure how to fix these issues and really need you guys to help me out here.

I don't know for sure, but it sounds like you're in the early steps of how I messed up myself just recently.
Here's how I managed to fix my device again: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72794604&postcount=6 (Obviously, I can't guarantee anything, it's just what worked for me. Maybe you don't have to do quite as much as I did, since your phone still boots, at least.)
I hope it works out for you, too. :fingers-crossed:
Edit: Just read you are on a stock ROM by now. I don't think you have to unlock your bootloader for that, but I could be wrong. Should you encounter any problems in the process, this may(!) be cause.

My phone don't recognize the fingerprint sensor anymore

Changing the app I was using, I clicked on screen pinning accidentally. I was using the infinite screen and tried to unpin the screen of too much ways, but I couldn't. So I rebooted my phone to get it back. But, when he started, the system don't recognized the fingerprint sensor anymore. Simply I didn't had the unlock for fingerprint option anymore. I tried to wipe (almost) everything, but didn't work. I tried to install other rom, and tried to install a gsi, but all that roms and gsis simply don't recognize that phone has an fingerprint sensor. I think that the problem was with the screen pinning and that created an bug on system. What I do?
I installed an app that test the fingerprint sensor, but he showed an error that said "this app only works on phones with fingerprint sensor.
I was using MIUI V10.2.2.0 stable when it happened

Hard reset. If you have done that than flash stock rom with twrp or fastboot.
You have just messed up with settings so hard reset will make you fingerprint working

Simple..just go to service centre and ask them to reflash the software. If your device will be in warranty then they will fix your problem at no cost.
