Anyone know how to turn off the Camera Shutter sound?
This is only possible by turning your phone on silent mode.

Which varient is that? In certain parts of the world is is illegal to not have a shutter sound, so you may not be able to turn it off.
US, T-Mobile, 955U
Camera, Settings, all the way at the bottom.
Or search for "shutter"

True, for example that option is not available in the Italian version.
Don't see what the deal is with shutter sound. I've seen threads on all sorts asking how to turn it off and it creeps me out. The only reason I see for disabling the sound is to take pictures without others knowing.
Yeah, disabled in Hungary as well

You are trying to take pictures at your child's recital and do not wish to have your constant shutter messing things up for everyone.
OR..
you are in a business meeting and taking pictures of the whiteboard and/or presentation and also don't want to the 'that guy' with his camera making noises.
Use this app 'Forced MuteMode-Default Camera' worked on my phone to disable whatsapp shutter sound. Hope it helps.
You beauty! the Chinese SM-GN9550 6+128 has this setting in the camera settings. Awesomeness!

Yeah, I was trying to take a picture at work today during a presentation...
Bloody annoying camera sound that I hadn't really worried about before was so annoying I had to stop taking a few photos that would have been really handy to have. Anyway, I'm glad the sound can be turned off on mine. Woot! Sorry for those of you who live in countries with Photo Freaks...

Hello,
Simply go in system/media/audio/ui and rename "shutter.ogg" in "shutter.bak".

Um, ya...
No root, now way to do this.
Unless you are privy to a way to unlock the bootloader on the sm-g955U Snapdragon.
If so please share! I'd love to get root on this.
I silence my camera so I can take pictures of my puppies playing without them all stopping and looking at me.

In both of those cases, why not just put the phone on silent, then there's no shutter sound when taking pictures.
What's weird is on my unlocked S8+ US version I have no option to turn off the shutter sound in camera settings but on my wife's T-Mobile S8+ that I picked up for her today there is an option in camera settings. Both are on the latest builds.

You could install and use Silent Mode Pro (Camera Mute) which works perfectly on my S8+ with the Samsung stock camera app.

I have the exact same problem. The only difference for me is I am on the Bixby beta and I believe that is where I lost the shutter sound as many apps were updated after that. Unfortunately I am not seeing a way to opt out of the beta. My reason for wanting the shutter sound gone is because my dog is a total weirdo and doesn't like certain sounds including the shutter sound, he just goes nuts.
Are you on the Bixby beta by chance?
yeah you gotta be a weirdo creep to silence your shutter...!! i always turn up the volume when taking pictures of the dark side of my moon at work

Anyone know of a tweak for this? On my sprint TP it is automatically turned off if I take picture while on a phone call, so there must be an option somewhere to turn it off for good.
i would really like to know this as well

Strange that it gets turned off during a phone call. Can anyone else confirm this?
yeah i tried it during a call and it does get turned off during a call.
i want to turn it off because the autofocus takes so long. especially when i need to snap those quick pictures...
Same here, no autofocus during a phone call... I'm using original ROM.
I'm very interested too in a solution for that strange behavior.
I would like to know how to turn it off as well because it takes too long to snap the shot! Would be great if there was an option to turn it on or off!
May no be EXACTLY what you're looking for, but go in to camera->settings->advanced and on page 3, there's a Shoot Option. Change this to Full Press, and no more AF.

I have it at Full Press, but that still is auto focus. As soon as you hit it, you will see the camera try to focus on what ever you're trying to shoot before it actually takes the photo.
I too am curious as to how to turn it off.
there's gotta be like a registry tweak????? someone? anyone? haha

Even i m in dire need of this tweak........sometimes its impossible to get a good snap, bcos of the delay caused by auto focus.......
i was using UIQ 3 phone earlier, where a half press would lock the focus and full press will immediately click snap without a delay.....
can someone make sum tweal on similar lines
please someone. haha

Turning off Auto Focus
Anyone help !!!!!!!!!
Bump
This is very odd. I guess that even HTC knew that the camera program was either not optimized or demanded to much resource so they cut off the autofocus mid call.
From my own experience, its really hard trying to figure out the system calls coming form the dialer, i dont think this is going to be an easy fix.
Bump!

it would be nice if someone could do this? i would donate happily )
also id really like a auto lfash - which i think is in development
but this is a good idea as i agree it takes so long to focus that you hardly ever get a good shot
I'm interested in this. Have missed many pics due to the focus being so slow!
why does nobody want to reply to thread with an answer? strange seeing as there is so much demand
I use AutoFocus and have no delay in taking a picture.
If you have a delay in taking a photo just change the settings using the Advanced Configuration Tool. Under the camera options, capture delay should be disabled, key delay disabled and capture key delay set to zero.
Also, try this:
HKLM/Software/HTC/Camera/Captparam/
and set
CaptureTimer = 0 (old=5000)
Two more things to do - go into the camera advanced settings (in the camera itself) and turn off the click sounds and set the review time to no limit. With those changes above I think I have a working camera here...
While we're at it, if your photos are yellow change the white balance settings: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=951
Taking photos with the TD2 sucks a**.
options like brightness oder ISO dont change anything. all the pictures look the same.
but especially when its dark id like to increase exposure time. or how about taking quickshots with focus to infinity instead of waiting to infinity for the autofocus to adjust?
is there any application able to do that?
edit: just saw this thread. missed it on first search. sry.
but still nothing new?
Hi laureus,
I don't know the settings about ISO or changing other things but i have extra camera capture modes, and i attached the cab for you.
The limitations are more down to the hardware in my opinion, no app is going to make much better pictures. In good light, with low ISO, the TD2 actually takes decent pictures (in my opinion again), as good as you have a right to expect from a phone/PPC.

This isn't going to happen. You can't preset such a cheap lens/focussing mech to infinity, it just hasn't got the accuracy to go back to the same place every time. Autofocus every time is unfortunately essential for sharp pictures.
I know its not exactly what he asked about . BUT
qik freeeking rox on the htc pure .. ive used it since my blackjack and i love it . if ya need a video streaming to web app .
thanks for your answers.

yeah, im quite happy with pictures taken in normal light situations. it is just when you get to the evening hours some more exposure time would be nice.
even my old nokia n70 could do that. why not the much newer td2?
well, you cant have it all.
What I'd like to see in a camera app is something that lets me flip it over and use the volume buttons as a camera switch. Perhaps, using the left button (volume down) to autofocus, and the right button to actually shoot the picture.

this can be done with key remapper.
i mapped the "back button" to shoot a picture when the camera is active. if camera is not active it still works as a back button.
Can you tell me how did you do this???I did not understand how it works.
dark photos
I too have the same problem of dark photos,
are also the owner of a diamon and photos in dim light is much better than the diamon2,
where you could change the registry for this problem?

Has anyone noticed when listening to music using the stock music player, there is a lighting effect that goes around the screen? I find it really annoying and I can't see any way of turning this off. I hope there is a way as I really like the samsung music player.

Hey that sounds pretty cool. How can I get this to work with Spotify?
Edit: Okay all jokes aside I've downloaded it and had a look for a solution. Doesn't appear to be something you can toggle. Possibly a purposeful design decision, or maybe just an oversight? Who knows what was going through their heads but you might just have to put up and shut up, change apps or wait for an update that includes a toggle.

No, it's a built in function on the Samsung player.
You have to turn off edge lighting. Settings display edge display edge lighting.
I love edge lighting when I get a message. But not with the music player.
Hi, I cant seem to make mine work. When I play music within the app, the edge lighting does not happen. Can you help me with this?? Edge lighting is turned on and all possible applications are selected. Please help.

I'd love to see it. I use edge lighting, but purposely refused to d/l the Samsung player because I use Spotify way too much. But I can see where constant edge light during music play can be both annoying and a possible battery drain.

Disable any packages on the phone? All I needed to do was turn on Edge Lighting in the menu and it's fine.
Using this player - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.app.music&hl=en
It only works when the app is actually open and playing, minimize and no edge lighting.

Works only with default music player. Those who are not able to see the effect, you need to turn on the animator duration scale under development options. At .5x edge lightning will run fast. At 1x it'll run at normal speed (pleasing to the eye) and lastly, at 0x setting it'll freeze and just look like stable edge border only.
I know how to turn it off, but you gotta be rooted. If you still wanting that, call me on priv
I like the edge lighting with the music player especially as it changes colour to match album art, just wished it was more reliable for messages ect.

No problem bro
I did some searches so I hope this has not been covered yet... but I am new to the pixel phones and I have heard how great they are... so I was excited to take some pictures of my kids and my cousin.. however most of them came out blurry... I thought maybe the skin that came on the phone may have been interfering but after removing it saw the same issue... so after doing some digging.
I found that the HDR mode slows the shutter speed and can cause action shots to suffer... so i've been turning off HDR mode... but I noticed that it always defaults to HDR Auto when i go into the camera app and I did not see a setting to turn this off...
QUESTION: Is there a way to change the default camera mode on the stock pixel camera app?
Thank you!

Very simple. Click on that hdr+ auto sign and choose hdr off after expansion
It's a stupid decision made by Google to make it default to HDR auto on the Pixel 1 phones. The nexus phones and as far as I know the Pixel 2 generation do not have this behavior. Do not know of any mods which have bit through this problem either.

I turn off hdr+ and it stays off for me.
using arnovas gcam mod but iirc this was the behavior on stock.
so i wonder if that mod helps keep the changes.. mine still continues to default to HDR + Auto each time I go back into the camera..

My completely stock Pixel XL does this.

Same happens with the NightEnabled_GoogleCamera_6.1.013_cstark27.apk.
You can turn HDR off but when the app restarts the setting is AUTO.
This must be controlled by the phone I assume, not the app itself.
Has anyone fixed this?
So I finally got an s22 ultra after the whole fiesta was Samsung locking my previous phone because the person I bought it off of scammed me. Only to find out I can't take a video of anything at all unless I restart my phone.
If I open my camera on my phone and I hit the record button it'll act like it's recording but if you look up at the top the timer has not started and then if you click stop to go and verify if it threw something in the gallery as if you actually recorded something nothing is there. So I know it's not actually recording.
Here's a link to a YouTube video that kind of shows exactly what I'm talking about pay attention to the top where the timer is when you click the record button the timer doesn't start and it's not recording.

Yep this was an issue last update as well as this one. Current version: S908U1UEU2AVDC. I guess I worded my question wrong I know I'm not the only one with this issue I just more or less want to know if anybody has insight on if they fixed it or not. Because if you do a quick Google search of s22 ultra camera issues there's a whole slew of articles and post on samsung.com forums of people griping about this very issue except none of the articles seem to give a resolution that works and samsung.com forum mods are completely unhelpful
Can't replicate that issue. If you clear app cache and or system cache does the issue return?

Just an FYI so Samsung did confirm it was an issue select individuals are facing. They will be addressing it in the next update according to several Samsung news websites including this one pictured below
