Is it a software or hardware thing? I mean the noise and shutter delay and video/picture quality. Do you think it can fix via software update in the future? Or we should accept rightnow that the sony advertisment of XL is not true.
I also compared the front facing camera of samsung galaxy s3 mini and Xperia L. The s3 mini has better quality when it comes to low light.
It's a software thing. Many people said that there is a diffrence between quality of photos on dirrent software update's. Defently Sony will fix it.
Ahh thanks for answering. I will keeo my xl for now and wait for the upcoming updates
I am at 1.36 and quality is way better but video recording will go lag on low light
Before, i tried to use the LG camera for video recording. Try it. It has a better setting than the stock

Yup I tried different 3rd party camera apps but they all lag on low light. on .17 this is fixed
Ahh. I will wait for the new update. I hope this camera problem in .17 will be fix. Do you still using .36 fw now?
Is there any app that will correct the noisy images of Xperia L?
My phones has the latest official update but photos are still grainy
Use snap cam. It's much better than the stock one. Just change some settings manually and you're good to go. Also the autofocus work well.
Hit thanks if it helped
Is there any port of Sony smart social camera working on XL? I've tried some, but none work.

Could you write down which settings you would need to change ? Does the focus work well on CM11 ? Thanks.

I haven't used cm11 so can't tell. Stock works good for me.
Try adjusting the white balance for different lighting situations. Use ISO 100 or 200 if you are clicking outside with enough lighting.
Also you can try using different saturation and contrast levels till you get a perfect picture. I can't tell you the exact values since these vary with lighting.
All the best

Even I tried some but they didn't work for me either. Their working depends on the framework itself and thus they don't work with other devices most of the time.

if someone port sony camera framework to cm it will possible work perfectly
Hi guys,
I don't know if somebody had already created such thread, but I want to ask you if anybody know any app which allows me to use manual focusing, expositure, shutter speed and/or/will support RAW format. I know, lumia 1020 has such camera app, but I didn't find ported version
I have AOSP ROM, so I am unable to use LG G2's camera app, which allows me most of the things I've mentioned.
Look in the g2 forums, there is a flashable camera for aosp ROMs and works great on the g3.
In which thread it is or how its called?
EDIT I found the one you've mentioned. LG Stock Camera for AOSP ROMs
Could you post a link for reference? Thank you
perhaps this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548974

If you're still looking for it, I'm using Mi2Raw Camera app for capturing RAW photos on my G2 with OptimusG3 ROM. It works great, you can also manually focus by tapping the screen or adjust the exposure. But the app itself still needs some work... I'm not sure if it's going to work on the G3, but you can try it as it works on G3-based ROMs.

Hi everybody. The camera is a big issue for everybody who use cm12. I checked already more than 10 cameta programs, but no one good solution. I tryed LG Camera for AOSP, its was done for LG G2, and that apk is working very good like stock apk. But on CM12 the apk not show setings, nothing at all, but in automatic mode that apk get the best pictures quality till yet. I hope somebody from developers will find solution for that big issue for all G3 ussers, because a lot of people buy that model because of good camera.

I have tried the app you had posted, but it seems like it does not work on LG G3, it showed me a message that "This app only works for LG G2, Xiaomi..." and some other phones.
I am now runing the AN HD ROM, because I had some troubles with the CM12 ROM - battery drain, heating up and my camera wasnt working at all (FC, camera freezed after taking pic with flash and the quality of the pics were really poor).
Thanks for the tips, tho.

sorry for being so late, here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540030
G3 doesnt support exposuretime and manual shutter.
Also manual focus is broken with l.
With l the camparameters returns exposuretime but its ignored when setting it to the cam.
That means for camera2 the g3 will stay as legacy device and will not have manual settings and dng support. We have to wait for the g4 to get full camera2 support. These are just my thoughts because i know that lg not cares about adding new features to old devices....

Thanks, but it doesn't work with ART. I'm trying to get it to work on my Nexus 6 but I'll must stock with the Google camera for now.
But it is software thing, not hardware.

Just want to ask, is it possible to shoot RAW on G3 with lolipoop? Have G3 support for camera API 2.0? Is it any change to find it out? Im using Mi2RAW but I will miss it on A5.0.
Try this (Open Camera) on CM 5.0
Very nice Camera n alot of setting good luck .
I wonder if anyone managed to get camera quality as god as stock roms :/ The camera is the only thing keeping me away from AOSP Roms...

This is same as stock quality for AOSP:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522889&page=31
Are there any picture comparations about the picture quality loss?
Would really like to see that, too
There is no such a thing like DRM fix for AOSP. AOSP is AOSP. Sony stock ROM's containing DRM but not AOSP. Talking about picture quality. I was installed Goggle camera port on my XZ and it was much more better than Sony stock camera.

If I compile the Xperia aosp and install it, my camera will shot pictures instead of green walls?

Can you give link google camera port for me bro? I use F8332, unlock bootloader, flash rom AOSP 8.1 of rudy, install google camera port but It's not better than stock camera. Not only that, front camera so blurry and auto focus so hardly ((( thanks for your help
I was using carbon rom, now omnirom. Both based on aosp 8.1. Rudys rom is outdated i guess. https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/ try one of these ports in this link. Some may not work same may work partialy. There is no official port for XZ sadly The picture quality is way better than stock fw camera.

Dose Omnirom support F8332? I see the title is XZ/KAGURA/F8331 OmniROM BUILDS When I use AOSP rom of Rudy, sometimes my device can't charge. Led still bright, my adapter and cable don't break.
I have no idea. I think it needs only patch for dual sim but it should work. I have some issues with charging too, its slower thqn stock or existenz. I think there is workaround for this, actualy never tried to solve this problem
Hello crew!
I started this thread, to track on one place best working Gcam for HTCU12+.
UPDATE #1
Just found version from developer @potter of gcam for Moto G5+ that works nice on U12+
it's MGC_6.1.021 version with NIGHT SHIFT!
UPDATE#2
MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2.apk
aux switch setting (if enabled it works like switching front/rear camera) - THIS ENABLES TELEPHOTO CAM ON U12+
Turn on BUFFER FIX for Viewfinder fix.
try gcam versions from this link https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-san1ty/
Working versions:
Best in my oppinion:
BSG: MGC_5.1.018_MI8_V1b.apk
Arnova's v7.9.9: GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7.9.9.apk ( Portrait mode front camera is slow)
BSG: MGC_6.1.009_MI8_V1a.apk ( Portrait mode front camera is slow and blurry )
In my testing latest versions are slow (low frame rate in camera viewer) and i' think the reason is ZSL turned on by default (when HDR+ is turned off - frame rate is normal).
My question for @Arnova8G2 or @cstark27 @Tolyan009 can you devs check this for us U12+ users... because we have great camera and full working GCam will bring us even better one.
Also when we get update to 9.0 things will be more compatible ( i hope somewhere around new year )
Put your expiriences, findings, test here, and let's all try to get better Gcam for our beloved U12+.
Regards!
I confirm, on U12 + the MGC_6.1.009_MI8_V1b.apk version works properly, selfi pictures are very green and fuzzy.
The MGC_6.1.013 version does not work with HDR +, it is very stablina, sometimes you can not take pictures.

Hey guys, what's the latest stable version with all the features?
Especially @5m4r7ph0n36uru I saw you posted informations about our smartphone on arnova thread, have you got a good app iteration?
I have tried one which gave me great Night Sight capture but the viewfinder is green so it's pretty unuseful when you don't have the time to switch between options to get the shot you want.

And now? Doesn't mean HTC is worse than OnePlus. Actually if you look at their software, it's quite bad. Like one of the worst RAM management (exists since nougat or Oreo on their devices and few others things. So who cares if OP5/t has Pie already. We better wait for a properly working and bugfree system, then having bugs on pie which many other OEM have too and which google doesn't fix and let it do others ?

The viewfinder I got, but it is buggy. The aux doesn't work at all. The zoom is just based off the wide angle.
You were fast to snap for me to read, but not so fast to answer that the mod actually doesn't use the telephoto camera at all, simply relying on digital zoom with the wideangle.

Hopefully, and I hope for more control over the telephoto mode. I say "mode" because it appears to have been omitted in all reviews and discussions here:
-when in 2x/telephoto mode, even in sometimes moderate light, like on a shadowy street during a bright day, the camera will automatically revert to using digital zoom on the wideangle lens to sort of approximate the telephoto. I think it's BS. I was shooting in Malta last week where it's super bright, went into a shadowy street that was still bright and the telephoto went to wideangle crop. So I lose pixels and the noise looks worse.

You know this isn't a MUST HAVE, but it's nice that there's development, but not necessary at all. It's not like I can't shoot with the stock software, or use my u11 with zero issues, or buy an S9+ or a Pixel 2.
I tried different versions and so night sight laggy. does anyone know the solution? i have buffer fix enabled etc. Pocco f1 have fix for this, i not install this because not have twrp(warranty)..
Ps. Sorry for my bad english
If you're in Europe, you don't loose warranty by unlocking Bootloader, TWRP, root etc...
I recently bought the Xperia 5 and have been looking for a working gcam. I've the version 5 build on XDA but kept looking in the hope to find something newer. On XDA or Gcam forum, not sure not, I read an someone with a slightly older Xperia say that the version linked below was working so thought I'd tried it. I've tried many versions in vain hope they might work but they all close on open where as linked version works to so degree.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/razer-phone/themes/apk-google-camera-6-1-021-modded-t3880003
The file from the top post in the link above takes you to MGC_6.2.030_RP1_V2.0.0-BSG.apk
On an Xperia 5, all udpated, the following works for me:
Camera works (on ultrawide, default)
Front Camera (Selfie)
Lens Blur
Panoramic
Night Sight (doesn't crash but doesn't do much...?)
Photo Sphere
Lens
Anything not mentioned crashes including the settings.
I'm not a developer, sharing a might be useful to others and might be enough to work on to get maybe some of the other parts of the app working.
Thats freakin useful for My Development! Thanks for sharing <3

Maybe can we use the Razer Phone Mods as Base for our Xperias. Crazy that the Xperia 1 Mark 2 already got the latest GCam fully working. Xperia 1 and 5 are not really popular how it seems...
