Amazon Fire HD 8 6th gen enable Alexa from every country - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 General

Hay guys recently i bought an Fire HD Tablet 8 6th gen. From America (it was cheaper there...). I was very happy to hear that the tablet has a feature called Alexa because i already have 2 Echos.
My fire OS version is 5.3.3
SO i wanted to use this feature now but i just could not get it to work. I used a whole day to find out how to get it to work on my tablet.
First of all i'm from Germany and i have a German amazon account. I hope this works for your accounts too.
Go to settings -> My Account -> Amazon Account Settings -> Current Country -> hit ok -> Login and change your location to the US.
Restart your tablet.
If you have NoRoot Firewall disable it for a second.
Wait for the amazon appstore to change to the US version (open and close it a few times...)
Open the Alexa app, it will tell you that "You do not own this app" click on Details.
You will be redirected to the amazon appstore, and the Alexa app click on get and "buy" the app (0$).
Open the Alexa app, if it does not work -> force close it and open it up again until it opens correctly.
Then complete the setup (just click one or two blue buttons).
It should be active now.
Go to settings -> Device Options, and look for Alexa if it's there -> Hurray u activated it successful. Skip the next step.
If you can't find the Alexa option -> No problem just wait a bit, and/or restart a few times.
Now go to your homescreen it should say something like "Alexa is now active on your device!", read or skip the setup.
At least just hold your home key wherever you are and wait until you hear a sound and a blue bar appears, then speak your request.
Don't forget to change your amazon country back to your original country.
If everything works, you now have Alexa enabled on your device. And even if you change your country it should work.
I hope that it works for you guys, so smooth like it worked for me.
Have a great day

that worked in my new 7th gen, thanks!

A while after reverting back to my country, Alexa disappears...I guess it's just a temporary workaround

xposed
can xposed framework be installed?

[Q] Amazon MP3 App Issue

Bought the Maxx Thursday night and everything is great about the new phone except for one thing. I am not sure where the issue lies but here it is. When I click on the Amazon MP3 app, I get the following error:
Error
The specified device could not be authenticated. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact Amazon customer service.
Exception #100
I have cleared the data and cache, even hid the app and "unhid" it still the same issue. I've even de-authenticated and re-authenticated the app on Amazon.com. Amazon support ask me to turn on logging by going through app store, but they just are not getting it. I can''t get the app to start up to get to the app store. Not sure where to go from here. Any ideas?

After working with Amazon on this yesterday without any resolution, I got an email today for their tech support with some other things to try. Well the second option worked for me. Below is options 1 (may work for you...did not for me) and options 2 (worked for me). I now have access to my Amazon MP3 account on my MAXX.
Option 1:
Please to try the below steps:
1. Go to the Android Settings->Accounts
2. Remove the Amazon account
3. Clear the cache of the MP3 app
4. Reboot the device
5. Open the MP3 app and try signing in
OPTION 2:
But if device has per-installed amazon widget that has properties that affect MP3 app, please perform the following steps:
1. Go to Android Settings,
2. Then Go to Accounts section,
3. Select Amazon Account
4. Remove the Account. (Rebooted my device even thought the instructions did not request it).
5. Go to Home Screen, Remove the widget from Home screen. (I disabled the Amazon MP3 and the Amazon App clearing the cache and data too on both)
5b) Reboot Cell Phone
6. Then Go to Apps section
7. Pull the Amazon MP3 widget to home screen.
8. Now Splash screen will be available.
9. Click Device button.
10.Follow instruction on Sign in Activity.
Hope this helps

This account is not eligible to use google now

I am mad as hell.
I wanted to enable Google Now but in Google Settings I receive the message "Google Now requires location services which are not available".
Googled, found several "hacks", great. I tried the one where you unistall updates/disable Google Play services, etc... and I get the message to activate Google Now, but when I choose so and login with my email I get "This account is not eligible to use google now".
I tried this with 2 different gmail accounts, always get the same message. There are no info on Google about this problem.
Anyone has any idea how to enable google now? I need it, I love it, and I think I am going to break my nexus 5 if I can't have it.
By the way, I am on the latest developer L build (didn't work on 4.4.4 too, I kinda updated only because of the hope that it may work on L).
Also, on my Nexus 7 (2012) google now works great although I am using the same gmail account.
Any help is appreciated!
Uhhhhh.......
Turn on location? Why don't you try that and report back.

Google Location services are not available in all countries (which is fine) but Google Now shouldn't explicitly need location services. Location services are not available in my country and Google Now still works with no problems on my Nexus 5 and worked on my Nexus 7 (2013) before I updated to the L Developer preview (using the Play Services - Uninstall updates trick) and still shows me location weather information, appointments, news updates, delivery updates, time to work.home, time to get to the location of my next appointment, etc... all without being able to enable location services. I don't understand why Google would limit their service when it clearly works with no problem but has no problems pushing out beta apps to everyone which clearly have issues (new hangouts desktop app).
The Play Services trick did not work on 5.0 for me either. If I do find a way around it I'll let you know.
UPDATE: Managed to get it working with the following steps:
1. Logged out of Google search app
2. Uninstall Play Services updates
3. Connect to a Free UK VPN (I used this: http://www.bestukvpn.com/)
4. Ask Google to remind you of something and select the opt in to Google Now option
5. Go through the steps to enable Google now.
6. When you get the "This account is not eligible to use Google now" click on search bar and search for anything
7. Open the hamburger menu while in search (click on the menu icon or slide from the left)
8. You will notice that you are not signed in. Select sign in and select your account.
9. Viola you will get the opt in to Google now option again and you should then have Google Now
That's what worked for me. Ask Google to remind you of something to make sure its working. Hope this helps .

Did you try creating a reminder using Google Now after the 8th step. Make sure you are still connected to the VPN. You have to open chrome after connecting to the VPN to verify the connection. A simple search should bring up a window to accept the VPN terms and conditions.

I am connected to the VPN, I can confirm by searching for my IP, it says I got a London IP.
After the 8th step when I try to create a reminder (remind me to thank johnmall1441) nothing happens... in fact, the program closes itself like it was killed. I don't have another device currently to record the screen and show what I am doing and what happens...

Location Services
Hi all, this morning I went into Google Search settings and I could finally enable Google Location Services. This is what was blocking Google Now. With it enabled you shouldn't have to jump through hoops to opt-in. Try checking your location services settings in the Google Search app . They may have enabled it for a number of new countries.
Quick Tip: If the opt-in screen doesn't show up automatically, sign-out and sign-in in the Google Search app. Hope this helps.
Still not eligible ?
Tried v p ns and airplane mode

How to uninstall google play services updates? I only saw disable option.
I'm frustrated... All methods I can find not working, it used to be easy to turn on google now in 4.4.4.

The only option is to disable play service and by doing so it removes the google account altogether in official lollipop build.
couldnt get google now in lollipop!!!!
Cant get google now by applying any of the fixes above!!!!!!!common you can do better than this????
the above solution does not work. I performed a full wipe and install of latest lollipop release. I have no uninstall updates button. Only "Force Stop" and "Disable" both greyed out. Not rooted.
hopefully a solution will appear soon.
Finally Got Google Now Working in Lollipop_Nexus 4
1. Switch Off the Phone
2. Remove sim card
3. Do a Hard Reset
4. Skip Wifi Settings and everything else
5. Once skipped all the settings steps, deactivate Location
6. Activate Wifi
7. Use VPN (bestukvpn Posted by jonmall1441)
8. Activate google now and add your google account
9. Enjoy!!!!!!!

- Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button at the same time until the device turns on. You'll see the word "Start" with an arrow around it.
- Press the Volume Down button twice to highlight "Recovery mode."
- Press the Power button to restart into Recovery mode. You'll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark and the words "No command."

Increase Performance on Fire Tablet easy

After I restored my Fire HD 8 (7th) to factory settings, I did NOT log in to my Amazon account.
Just skip, and do not enter your Amazon account information.
After then, it looks like alle the Amazon services are "inactive", so just about a few 150MB of Ram are
used now and 750MB are free, when I Ialso installed Play Store.
The result is a much faster OS, almost like a "clean" Fire Os, which is not loaded
full of bloatware. They are inactive, when you are not logged in with your Amazon account. :good:
This should work on other Fire Tablets too.
If you bought this tablet than obviously you have Amazon account. At one point you will have to log in anyway. It's kind of missing the point to own Amazon tablet.
also how do you skip entering your amazon info?

When it gets to that screen and doesn't let you do anything else, just shut the tablet off and turn it back on.
Do you also know of any way to force a backup? It says to leave connected to WiFi on standby and it will backup within 24 hrs...pretty vague. I have no idea if its actually backing up anything

edit - the wifi screen cancellation did the trick
I have a fire HD 8 (7th gen/2017) and I have been unable to skip the registration after a factory reset. I believe I am running the latest version of fire OS. If I try to restart the device at the wifi selection screen or at the registration screen, It makes me start the setup process all over when I restart. Any tips on how I can skip registering my device?
EDIT -
I figured it out, all you need to do is select a wifi network, and put in an incorrect password. After it tries to authenticate, click "cancel" and it will ask you if you want to skip registration.
If you do this, can you use the Kindle Books app (or download the version from Google Play Store) and get it to work?
How significant is the speed boost?
Probably not. If you search for Amazon apps on the play store it will show they are already installed. If you sign into one Amazon app you automatically get signed into them all. Same as if you signed into Google all Google apps work with one sign in.

I just checked and get the same on the Play store version of Samsung Health. What just worked for me is:
Uninstall Samsung Health
Search online for Samsung Health APK
Download an older version (I randomly chose S Health 5.1.1.005) install this apk
Run the app - it's the wrong screen size, open and close all the T+C and hit agree and tap multiple times around the black space in the bottom (some button or permissions is hiding here)
Log in with Samsung account (i havent tried with Google login)
Do verification if prompted (text worked fine for me). All logged in ok
Go to Play Store, search Samsung health, update to latest version.
Open app, check T+Cs and you should be logged in and working on the latest version, I was even able to tap the hamburger menu at the top, hit the account button next to settings cog and log in fully again. You may need to do this to make sure you're logged in.
I dont have a watch to try pairing im afraid, but hopefully it will allow you to connect

Question I'm so lost

Motorola stylus 5g (2022)
I'm sorry to come here but I appreciate your help. I know the basics but not the inside of the phone. I had to get a new phone so I got a new number. I got the Motorola stylus 5g (2022). Free through Metro T-Mobile. Try to restart it a couple of times. I'm just wondering is it normal to have 440 system apps on your phone. I'm trying to sign in on my backup but not downloading the extra apps. Then I feel like it's throwing third party apps in there and there's so much crap on there and I'm just so confused and I don't understand why it's so difficult. I ran a test and it had system apps from Android 6th through 11. I think is odd but I could be wrong. I try to stay away from Google but I do sign in with a Gmail account that I don't use anymore. I was trying to get all my stuff moved over and saved on a different iCloud. I have a couple of reports I did if it's helpful I could try to send them. I try to keep Google out of my privacy but I know that's impossible if you have anything lying around. Maybe that's what's messing it up. Also this phone is supposed to be a 4G but it's connecting to five UC T-Mobile which is I know.
I'm pretty detailed oriented and I'm can follow directions easily but I don't always explain myself well.

I have noticed that my Pixel 5 automatically downloads Verizon apps after a factory reset, even though I've never used any of them. It's definitely possible in your case. However, they install as "user" apps, not system apps.

First off disable auto update in the Google store,
Second you should be able to go under settings and apps and disable all those unwanted apps you won't be able to remove them but you might be able to disable them.
As far as your connection type to the cell towers the phone might need to be reprovisioned or your APN is wrong.
You can try *#*#4636#*#* and make sure your band select is on auto there might be an active provisioning key near the bottom you can try using that too.
Sad to say since Motorola mobility was bought out by Lenovo and then the Chinese it's become one big trash heap
You should try to unlock your bootloader I believe it's 160 days of service I may be wrong and root it give you a lot more control over all that pre-installed stuff.

"Sad to say since Motorola mobility was bought out by Lenovo and then the Chinese it's become one big trash heap!"
This right here is right on it!I wouldn't buy a MediaTek device if it was the last device on earth! They're slow, and constantly have freezing issues!Tablet issues were the worst!
Moto phones are relatively clean, they only really come with gapps, carrier apps, and Facebook.
When you do the initial setup and sign in with a Google account, it will queue up a bunch of Google apps. You can stop the download from the Play Store or just uninstall them afterward.
MCM Client(check through your installed apps, MCM are the two with the icon of a queen chess piece) will enable any carrier apps and queue any that are not already baked into the rom. These can all be uninstalled or disabled.
You can also uninstall Facebook, but it has some hidden packages as well. Go into Settings -> Apps -> See All, select the three dot menu at the top right an press 'Show system apps', and search for 'meta'. There will be 'Meta App Installer', 'Meta App Manager', and 'Meta Services' that all can be disabled.
5GUC is T-Mobile's extended 5G network. If you just want 4G, go into Settings -> Network & internet -> Mobile Network and disable the toggle for 'Allow 5G'. It's normal to have a bunch of apps. Most of them are part of Android, customizations and apps added by Motorola, radio support libraries, and carrier support apps. Nothing to really worry about.
