microSD speeds / best microSD ? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Would you mind sharing your microSD benchmark results on the Mate 9?
I wonder if it makes sense to spend more money for a high-speed microSD...

I am using 128 GB Samsung Evo + and it seems to be doing just fine without any issues as of now

Will the epic be able to make full use of a class 10?

Not the way it's configured in the stock manner. You have to increase the read ahead. Also a Sandisk class 4 will probably blow a generic class 10 away.

Also if it is indeed a generic card, be careful about where you buy it from. There are a lot of fake SD cards floating around the internet that are basically repainted 256mb cards set to keep overwriting data to appear larger than they are.
Also remember that the class of the card is an indication of write speed. Read speeds are pretty close to the same across all cards except that the higher quality cards(Sandisk, Kingston, etc) will read a little faster from what I understand.

Basically, a 32GB Class 6 card from Sandisk or another reputable manufacture is what you want.

I went with komputerbay. Bought it off amazon. 32gb class 6. No bad reviews. I do alot of torrent downloading at work and xfer it over to my computer when done. I almost went with a class 2 sandisk. The price was reasonable.

It's a useful program, and seems to speed things up quite well. I also used a program called SD Tools: https://market.android.com/details?id=ales.veluscek.sdtools&feature=search_result to test the performance changes to determine the best settings. I found 1024 to give the greatest improvement with my card (32GB class 2 SanDisk).

Would this increase my memory?

I ordered this 128GB SDXC card http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=300850831173 ? Also I purchased this micro SD to SD converter ribbon http://dx.com/p/sd-to-microsd-transflash-card-converter-module-27001
If this works i already have 32GB for internal memory so ill have almost 160GB for my phone! I already have an EZO 4200mAh extended battery with a big back cover for my phone. IM just wondering if i can get this adapter to fit under the extended battery back cover with the battery in there?? I think it might just fit?? Any insight or suggestions is really appreciated!!

That's pretty cool! It's just a $140 gamble but if it works it would be awesome. Keep is posted if you do it.

Ya cause thats the biggest mirco sd made. Doesn't mean that that the kernel its self is limited to reading only 64gb cards.
It works!! 152GB of memory now! And it fits under my extended battery case!

Just wanted to let everyone know I got this formatted right and its working great. I definitely would suggest this to anyone who needs lots of space! When I get time I'm gonna take a picture of my phone with it in there. It fits just fine with my ezo 4200mah nfc extended battery. So if you have the extended battery case it fits really good, you would have no idea the SD converter is under back cover!

That's pretty awesome. Now you have a ridiculous amount of both battery and storage.
I wish 256gig sdcards didn't cost as much as a new phone off contract.
I was getting ready to buy a new device, but already have a couple carrier contracts. Definitely don't need another monthly payment.
Now i'm stuck trying to justify the purchase of a new device against being able to have a quarter terabyte of local storage in one of my current ones...

[Q] Slow class 10

Anybody else with a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB class 10 / UHS-1 find the write speeds slow?
I'm pretty sure it's a genuine part. It's at 8 MB/s write with my laptop

So getting close to the advertised speed, like I have with every other SanDisk, is unreasonable?
Your sdcard works right? Slow or fast it works right? I'd be happy.

My card seemed to work fairly well until it crapped out. SanDisk is sending a new one out so I'll test it out once I get it.

That's like buying a brand new sports car with a turbo boost leak and then being like "oh well". My 2.3 GB nandroid backups take about 13 mins. So TWRP is writing much slower.
I suggest checking my thread on the SD card you may need to reformat it and clean it up. Also try ROM toolbox pro to turn the write speed up. I write at 55 MB a sec

What the brand of you SD card?
It's a SanDisk. Ordered it on Amazon but took a month to get it. Must be short supply or high demand......or both

You may have to reformat the sdcard FAT32. It comes preformatted exFAT, and I am not sure which ROMS/kernels, if any, support exFAT since it's proprietary. I reformattwd my SanDisk 128g card to run in my M8.
UPDATE: But see my post below updating.
It works fine on stock clean Rom... just don't change the kernel out it won't work as exFAT
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I tried to use it "out of the box" on the Skyfall Rom. It wasn't recognized.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk
CodeCraft CheckM8 kernel v10 now supports exFAT. I am running it on stock.

Maybe, I'll just buy the same brand. Since it's working fine for you, I think, it will on mine too.

I have used it on clean rom, insert coin, and skyfall and it worked on all with no special formatting, even in TWRP. It's the Sandisk one.
I am using one on mine on stock ROM with CodeCraft's overclocked v10 kernel. It is formatted exFAT, but before that kernel supported exFAT I had it running formatted FAT32.

Just saw today that a SanDisk Ultra 128gb microSDXC card is the deal of the day 6/5/2014 at best buy and amazon for $99.00 with free shipping! I'm going to order one.
I've got one and it's working great. Plenty on there, plenty of space left.
