Forgot Samsung account. Is it safe to hard reset? - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

J7 Prime-I already successfully logged out my gmail. But I forgot my Samsung account, all of its credintials including recovery phone number and email address password since I was in rush at that time. Now I want to factory reset my phone and go back to scratch since my phone is filled with junk files.I asked the same question on a J7 Prime fanpage in facebook and everyond told me a hard reset will be fine.I am afraid to do this.If I make the reset using the button combination will Samsung account ask for the password before I could use the device? I am pretty sure there is no google lock on this phone.

Factory reset from within the device itself and you should be fine.

As long as you reset from within settings you should be fine. If you reset via recovery you will likely encounter issues.
I'd also enable OEM UNLOCK just to be sure.

Yes as the dev @ashyx said.
You are safe as long as you are hard resetting it within the device by going in settings and svrolling to backup and reset. Your device will boot up normally you will have a fresh relationship with your phone.
But if you hard reset it via a custom recovery or the stock recovery. Then it will surely ask for your samsung account. Without the Samsung account you won't be able to use your device. That is a security feature of Knox.
So hard reset it via settings.

That will work fine, you can also go into settings and go into "Accounts & Sync" in there you will see his gmail account. Click on that and remove the account. Setup your account to sync and you should be fine.
If I was you I would just factory reset or Odin... That is just me though. I like starting fresh

you should be able to do a factory reset, that should solve your problem but you will lose all data and apps that you had installed In order to save your contacts, messages etc, its best to make backup first, you can download My Phone explorer to your PC and client to phone from google play store to backup everything before factory reset or flashing stock ROM
Factory reset is normally done by going into settings> privacy > factory reset. or it may be located in an another location in settings.
or you can follow this and flash a stock kernel to solve your problem
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

The device was reset. To continue, sign... Forgoten account. Bricked phone?

So my fathers phone was wiped in service. And now it wants to log in with account that was used before. The problem is that... He forgot email, password and basicaly everything that can help recover the account.
I did everything i can but this phone still wants this old account. I wiped everything (factory reset), installed new rom. But it still wants the Old account.
Do you know any way to fix this?
I can't post image because i am too new here. But it's written:
The device was reset. To continue sign in with a Google account that was previously synced on this device.

What device? That seems odd. I've always had the alternative option to sign up. It doesn't have any prompts to create a new account?
An image would help, too bad you can't post it yet. :/
It may be helpful though if we know what device it is.
It's Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime.
There are no options to create new account. There is an option to help with forgoten password. But he is not even sure what was the email.
Belive me, i even asked my IT friends and there is no options that can help.

yep, this new security feature was introduced by google on 5.1 and above. every time you factory reset you must enter the primary google account info or the device is useless.
there is only 1 possible way around it. you have to downgrade your device to a firmware less than 5.1 where that security is not on it. there is no other way. if you are unable to downgrade and there is no possibility you may remember the needed info, you will have to get a new phone.
in the future, delete off all your google accounts before sending it in for service or doing a factory reset, then the security will be disabled until you put the accounts back on.

Super virus please help (odin)

I am stumped! Long story short i have a customers device( i work as an AUTH DEALER for MetroPCS) that had a nasty popup device. One of those imfamous FBI virus asking for money. Completely locked the device. Anyway the customer didnt know gmail and PW so he couldnt master reset. ( i know now he could). I decided to flash the STOCK ROM obtained through Samsung firmware website. I flashed via ODIN. It was a success, no failing at all. The device booted as new phone, apps got optimized and all. BUT the FBI virus was still on the device popping up locking you out, forcing you to remove battery. THIS IS AFTER flashing stock OS directly from the samsung website. So i then decide to master reset thinking the stock ROM would allow me to setup as normal. NOPE. After reset its still requiring the GMAIL and PW to setup the device. I dont understand because the OEM rom was flashed successfully. Yet the FRP lock is still enabled and the device locked out. How do i flash this rom so that it becomes STOCK with no FRP lock??? ANY tips welcome as ive posted in other forums and got no response....:silly::silly::silly:
You should try master reset (wipe partition and wipe cache), then flash a stock ROM via Odin. (Nevermind, I didn't fully read the part you already did that) But to me, this is just another proof that even flashing full ROM via Odin doesn't delete/replace everything. I couldn't get it solved too.

i actually resolved this issue. and yes flashing via ODIN doesnt reset it to default. I used sidesync, got a settings apk, used sidesync to force the device to open samsung apps(like the play store) i then got a file manager and added the apk to the phone storage via a computer.(this was all done while on the google login screen) i then opened the filemanager , installed the settings apk, it took me to phone settings(without having to get past the initial sign in screen) i then did a master reset via phone menu and BOOM, device is stock. Never will i put this much effort into a 50 dollar device again haha but thanks for the response

About the Factory Reset Protection with samsung account or google account

Hi... So.. Got a lil question... I have a samsung J2 prime which i forgot the samsung account password... Can't add another account... So.. Im still in the phone but can't format via settings... I know if I wipe data via recovery, I cant use my phone anymore because of the FRP.. But something hit me.. What if i root the phone and install a custom recovery while I still can access the phone.. And then install a custom rom clean flash(wipe everything dlvik, data, system, cache)... Will it remove the FRP?... And what if i change the IMEI through the custom rom then reflash the original firmware... Will the FRP be removed? Will the account be deleted? :silly: :silly: can anyone try before i use my own guts to do the following XD.
