Hey, just got official Samsung LED cover which is real nice but what I don't like is having security set to lock the phone after 5 minutes I got the phone locked each time I close the lead. So I need to unlock it every time after.
Is there a way for the cover to use my settings? It looks like it acts just like power button which force locks the phone (and I do what to keep this behavior for the button).

Can't you just toggle off the "Lock instantly with power key"?

I guess you have to compromise. Set your auto lock to a shorter time.
I do think the LED case is awesome and the close/lock is not an issue to me. But I do see how it could be a problem to some.

I'm pretty sure there are separate settings for some accessories including the LED cover.
I'm sure I have seen some settings on my dad's S7 Edge and he uses the S-View flip cover with it. I will have to recheck his phone...

There's a LED pattern editor to it but nothing else I found so far.
Sorry off topic but still has to do with the led cover.
Anyone pair the led view case with the whitestone dome glass screen protector? Just want a simple yes they are compatible or no, it will lift the protector is fine. Thanks
LED cover no longer locks the phone

Hey Desperex, I had the same problem with my Note 9 but I found a setting that make the cover not lock the device anymore:
Settings -> Biometrics and Security -> Other security settings -> Device admin apps -> Google Pay. If Google Pay is on, the screen will be locked, if off, it won't.
Hope it works for you too!

I switched on the pattern unlock, now I dont want it... i unchecked it in settings and it is still there... sometimes i get the regular lock screen and then I will wake it up and it will have the pattern unlock!! btw the phone is completely stock. has any one had this problem? i have also did battery pulls to no avail!!
hah, sounds like mine. i have mine set to on and unless i press the power button to shut the screen off then it doesnt work.
if i let the screen time out the pattern lock doesnt work and its just the regular swipe screen.

You need to change the time out settings to immediately (settings, location and security, time out)
Original post,
You have to press on the menu item change screen lock enter your pattern then select none

Thanks, mine are set that way. it can sit for a hour or overnight and do the same thing.
That's not normal at all lol. There are two settings for time out....one under display and the other under security (just in case )
Otherwise who knows...sounds like you have a bunk unit

haha yea, that and a few other issues its having, just going to return it and try another one.
op did you get yours straight? sorry to derail it a bit.
First off, apologies if these have been covered. I tried searching and couldn't find anything the same as what I am getting but it may be that it is buried in another thread.
Couple of issues with the One X
LOCK SCREEN RESTART
Most people will probably know already that holding the power button for long enough on the Lock Screen will restart the phone. To me, this is ridiculous. Having no kind of confirmation screen means that the phone is constantly restarting in my pocket as it presses against my leg.
Is there any way to disable this function?
HOME SCREEN NOT SAVING
I add the bookmarks widget to a home screen. It stays there nicely until my phone is restarted (usually due to the issue above). When the phone comes back on the widget is gone and an app (a different one each time) has been added instead.
Anyone else having this issue or know what may be causing it?
Again, sorry if these have been covered and thanks in advance for your help.
Haven't noticed the widget issue, but I don't use rhe bookmarks widget so maybe its specific to that particular widget.
But there have been a couple of times where I've had my phone in my pocket and pulled it out only to have it be turned off. Not sure why considering holding down the lock button on the lock screen is supposed to restart the phone, not turn it off completely.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
The home screen issue appears to have been fixed with the latest update.
The lock screen restart is still driving me mental though so if anyone knows of a way to stop it would be appreciated.

1) get a case that either partially covers the power button or covers it completely but making it harder to press.
2) get a belt pouch
In either cases your phone will only benefit and may last longer
I personally use horizontal belt pouch and have access to the phone in any position I may be in without awkwardly stretching or leaning, well, unless I'm laying on left side...no issues with pressing buttons ever.
Hi all ,ive resurected this thread to see if anyone has found a way to stop the restart button from working when the phone is locked as its becoming a real pain, ive searched but not found anything....
bump, any ideas anyone, surely just software ? ....
I secomd that.
I've had the same problem from the start. The One X is too easy to unlock. I got some relief with Widget Locker by allowing me to disable the notification bar as a method of unlocking but I still get regular restarts when phone in my pocket and press against power button. Restart should be restricted to an unlocked screen...just like my original HTC Desire. Why do some phone features go backwards?

The restart feature is there to force the phone to restart should it become unresponsive. It's a handy feature to have, it's essential, it's not backwards. Buy a case that limits your access to the power button and hey presto, problem solved.

Yeah If the phone froze on the lockscreen and the power button didn't work when the phone was locked there would be absolutely no way to recover it since it doesn't have a removable battery. The only solution is buy a case the makes the button harder to press or don't carry it in your pocket.

Okay got the picture......reluctantly I will need to buy a case..........Can I make a suggestion for future HTC models.....have a reset button in the form of a tiny hole-identical to the SIM eject hole but obvious on another side of the phone so as not to get them mixed up. This will satisfy everyone.
That's a great suggestion, but I highly doubt it will ever be implemented by HTC. They save money on manufacturing by having the power button doing this operation.

Who was the wise guy who thought that the notification tray didn't need to be locked with the rest of the screen?
After the ICS update, it seems that my notification tray is sometimes open when I pull the phone out of my pants' pocket. Since this isn't just a notification tray anymore and one can actually do sensitive actions over there, not to mention accidentally closing important notifications, I would say this is a very bad idea. I couldn't find any option to turn this "feature" off.

Well you should not have upgrades to ICS then or done the proper research into what was in ICS cause that is part of the 4.0 Android OS now. Me personally I love it.
So, you are saying there is no way to turn this off? It seems very strange to not have an option for this..

If you enable a screen lock then it will disable that function. Otherwise, it's actually a nice feature to have IMO.

OK, so I set up a pattern now and the issue is solved. But now I have 2 lockscreens instead of 1 :-( . Wasn't there supposed to be an option to unlock the screen straight to desktop (pattern in my case)?

Nope. You don't have two lockscreens, you have a lockscreen and a security screen. It's performing normally.
I know there is nothing actually wrong with this, but it just makes the phone harder to use. I mean slower to make a quick phone call, or quickly open an IM app and reply.
usually..
usually you can disable it, if you have the development function on your htc settings for ics, usually there is a function in the lockscreen part where it asks you to keep taskbar on top or untouchable after lockscreen is on.. try to look on accessibility and security or else download 'rom toolbox' and there should be a function where it allows u to enable or disable this function

Um... besides, you can't "do" anything with it unless you touch the screen. Are you touching the screen while the phone is in your pocket?
yrs,
dkephart
I keep my phone with the screen facing my leg and when there's moisture in my pocket, like in the summer for instance, I'm pretty sure things are happening that aren't supposed to happen
Also, the power button is somehow positioned that sitting down in the car for example accidentally pushes on it.
You could argue that only tight pants cause this issue, but c'moon

Buy an Incipio NGP case, which has a reinforced power button cover.
Never again will you have accidental power-button presses.
It's silly that you want to get rid of such a great feature. My phone always faces my leg in my pocket, and in the 10 months that I've owned my phone, I have NEVER pulled my phone out with the phone unlocked by my pocket.
Thinking more and more about it, it does seem to be a nice feature. I might give it a second chance, despite that only having it for 1 day and already found it open by mistake....

I've thought about that but the shape doesn't help at all... Also, the power button would be even more prone to accidental press.

Do you use a case?
Hey all,
My nexus 5 is keep unlocking itself while it's in my pocket, and doing random things like calling people, opening apps etc.
I set the pattern lock, and it helped, but from time to time I still see that screen is awake when I pick phone from pocket, sometimes it's in emergency call... Is there a "pocket mode" or something that I turned on or what's up with my phone?
Anyone else experiencing similar thing?
I hate pattern lock thing as well, but I saw that as only solution to a problem that I had.
HA..ha.ha.. Happens to me all the time. But in my case it happens only when i get a call while the phone is in the pocket. Not only does the call get rejected or accepted, but it also unlocks the phone, opens a plethora of apps and then goes back to sleep.
Now, the solution
Do you use a case? If yes, is the power button covered by the case? If yes, then you can either change your case or cut the case around the power button.
If you don't use a case, make sure your power button is not messed up! or you might have to replace the button (THE CERAMIC ONE)
Good luck let us know how it goes

Thanks for your quick answer.
I do not use case yet, looking for one these days for sure. The phone is new so I don't think that button should be replaced, it's working just fine from what I can tell. Guess that i'll have to stick with pattern and to see if some nice case can help with this problem as well.
Thank you once again.
Never once has my Nexus 5 done anything in my pocket. I'd say its your pocket's fault, not the Nexus 5
I'm running LiquidSmooth. It has an option that the screen doesn't turn on if something covers the proximity sensor. It's quite useful when your N5 is in your pocket but if it is laying on the table and I try to unlock it I need to watch out a bit
Sorry for my bad English

an op6 is so slow compared to op5t
any one else think an feel that it is slow
It's a out the same speed as on my 3t.
I'm sure it'll increase with future software updates
OnePlus 6 is my first OP device but I think Face Unlocking feature works great also with low light. For me, unlocking is really instantaneous.
Mine is instant too. I don't even see the lock screen if I'm looking at it and hit the button, not even the tail end of the animation. If I'm not looking at it, the instant I turn or turn the phone to look at it it's unlocks without hesitation on my phone. I'm very satisfied with the speed and accuracy of the face unlock. Heck, the same goes for the fingerprint sensor.
Well, I can say it's much better than the Samsung Galaxy S8, that thing is garbage!!
I also had the 5t but I don't notice any difference.

I have seen it occasionally show the lock screen. Honestly I think it's when I blinked as I got the power button. If your eyes are half closed or closed it won't recognize your face. This isn't 3d face unlock. So it's not that intricate.
Me too, i think that Face Unlock is slower
