Hopefully somebody can make an app that will make the button lights light up or flash when you get a notification, also different colors would be awesome if possible. Thanks!
I think only one color would be possible but it would be cool as hell nonetheless!

Some sort of flashing pattern would be awesome. Like, left to right, right to left, over and over. Think of KITT from Knight Rider.

Michael you have an incoming call...that would be pretty cool. That's a good idea too.

Well i think there are two differnt lights, they are physically two different buttons (the right two are connected, same with left two) so you could prob just do 2 different ones.

If you tilt the buttons back and try to peek under the screen you can see 4 illuminated spots rather that 2. That leads me to believe its 4 lights under the 2 buttons
When you start the app, at the xda splach screen is the bronze / red colour the same across the whole screen or is it like a gradient getting lighter towards the top left?
Just wondering if my screen is duff but maybe I'll be better downloading a screen test app.

No, nothing wrong with your screen for that reason. Just loaded xda and it does change shades from top to bottom.
If you think there's issue with the screen, google search for a photographic color calibration image, that should give you a good image to check with.
Thanks. I thought that was the case as I haven't seen this problem in any other apps or when using the phone normally. Still a relief to hear though!
no clue, i have set mine to DARK theme to safe power.
but when i look at a BLANK WHITE page, the 2 bottom corners just above the 4 soft buttons have a weird purplish gradient, which did not exist in Galaxy S
but that is due the Concave screen design
Mines on dark also but I'm talking about the splash screen that shows on starting the app - whether light or dark theme selected.
No such purple tint here.
The xda splash screen gradient looks a little banded because of the pentile sub pixel layout of the amoled screen. Nothing really wrong with your screen, that's just the way it is with these screens. It's a trade off.
Don't think I'm seeing banding, it's just the fact the xda splash screen tends to lighten as it gets to the top left of the screen.
From what others have said this seems normal though so. I'm not concerned.
Ah got it, I mis read. Yeah I think that's normal.
This is slightly off topic but relevant to the xda app. When I first view a new thread using the app, it always jumps either to the last page or a random page. Or if the thread is only one page long, it starts halfway down the thread. Again this is for new threads I've never viewed before. Anyone else experiencing this or know how I can fix this?
Thanks!

Yep seeing this too and never quite worked out the pattern / reason.
Don't worry about hijacking the thread, my question was answered long ago

on the Nexus S
i have a very nice and smooth dark brown to light brown gradient going from bottom right to top left
on the Galaxy S
the same gradient looks like chopped, chunky, banded, it's like looking at a picture in 16bit color (SGS) vs 32bit color (SNS)

That's interesting. I thought these used the same screen technology - samoled?

That's originally what I meant with my post cause I see the banding on my screen too. It should be identical since these screens are literally identical I believe.
that's what i would like to know as well.. i was left when i did the comparison
Hi guys i have a little problem with a moto g, when i want to record a video appear two white dots.
Already tried using other camera app but stil have the same result, this only happen while recording.
Any suggetions about what happen with the device?
Thanks
So can you post an example of it? It's really hard to understand what you mean by "dots". For one it might be pixels, for others a spot of dust or something.

I have two coloured artifacts on my screen when in camera mode. One is red, one is green, they are a few pixels in size. However, when I view a photo in the gallery they are not there, so it is clearly not an issue with the screen or with the image sensor.
Is this the kind of thing you are referring to?

I wouldn't worry about it. It does not affect the pictures. It is not an issue with the camera in any physical way and it is not an issue with your phones screen.
I'd be interested to know what causes it, but it's not a real problem, just odd..
Try a Screenshot

Try taking a screenshot of the issue while the camera is open. Do the artifacts show up on the screenshot picture?
Good idea. Yea they do show up on the screenshot
I added the photo. The main is the white mark in the middle and another 3 quartets of the way up.. It is odd

I see the middle dot, but can you highlight the other one?
Its too small and is lost in the resolution when its uploaded. It was in the top right corner about 2cm screen distance to the right of the flash sign and about 1cm from top of screen.
The one u highlighted is indeed the one in the middle.

After seeing this new thread with the same issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50269795
I too can see two artifacts while in the camera app. If the screen is divided into four squares, the middle of the top two squares have these white artifacts.
They only appear in the camera app.
They do not show in pictures taken.
One does show in a screenshot. (attached)
From what I can tell, it is either an issue with the camera app or the sensor has defects that are eliminated by the camera processor.
White Dots
I too have just bought a Moto G and when the screen is dark or totally black in camera mode you can see 1 white dot plainly. I does not show up when you take photos, however the white dot is there when you record video. Try it and see. Ill be carrying mines back today to see if I can get an exchange. I mean its minor but a distraction to have this white dot in all your videos.
Attached is my screenshot of it.
I have also noticed the same problem and position of dots are blinking slightly.

Well I went back to the store where I bought it since it was less than 2 days I had it under warranty. They will be bringing more from another branch and I'll be getting it exchanged Monday.
He said to carefully look for any faults this time before picking one. lol!
So happy! However if all have the same dots then ill just stick with the one I got!
I know you have the ability to change to on-screen buttons. My question is related to the Compasitive Buttons, do they light up for better visibility at night? All the videos I've watched I've yet to see them light up.
Thank You,
Vinny
Waiting on the 64gb model. Love this phone. Must have it.

You can change the light duration on them. I believe 6 seconds on is default. There are a few different options, and you can disable the light entirely. When you change to on-screen, the capacitive buttons get disabled, including the backlight for them.
You can find video of them lit up. They are darker than on something like the find 7 because they are more heavily tinted so they disappear better when you turn on the onscreen buttons.

Yeah, but the lights are actually pretty bright when they're on! :highfive:
Still thinking why the capasitive buttons were added on this phone. They just make it bigger.

Exactly. More expensive to squish stuff into a smaller phone.

Yeah but IMO it would have been better idea to make it less thin then.
I prefer off-screen buttons over on-screen ones myself, but I guess on a 5.5" screen it's not like I could complain too much about a bit of screen space being "wasted" with buttons. I'll more-than-likely use the capacitive buttons on the 1+1. All 3 of the Androids I've owned have the "back" button on the right, "home" in the middle, and "menu" on the left, and I was ecstatic to learn that the 1+1's capacitive buttons keep this arrangement, bucking the (non-Samsung) trend putting the "back" button on the left (which would drive me bonkers), and the "recent apps" button on the right. Although I'm sure CM11s would let you change them to do whatever you wanted anyway...
On my S7 g930f the LED color is not white as it should be but kind of purple.
Yellow is a bit orange and green.
Blue, red and green are oke.
is this some faulty hardware in the S7?
Not heard of any issues like this before, though it could be because its shooting through the glass of the screen itself.
Have you tested any playstore 'notification changer' apps to see if they are any better? could be SW issue?
Will try that!
I thought I've red about one user with same problem but I can't find it anymore.

Unfortunately same problem with light flow!
Seems like an hardware problem.
With white you can cleary see the three led's where blue has the upper hand turning the light purple.

Gold version? I think it's normal.
I never had a pure white light from the phones, S4 to S7. I thought it was normal since they were merely combining other LEDs to create the white colour.
I've never seen a truly white LED either. Every S7 I've used upon which the white LED color was selected has looked more like a pale violet to me. I have an old motorola atrix here and for curiosity sake I've just checked its version of a white LED... it as well produces a pale shade of violet that's supposed to pass for white. So I'd say it's typical.
The S5 is almost pure white.
S6 is worse then S5 but way better then S7.
I did saw that light flow had an better white than WhatsApp white (which I use for white led)
Sent from my SM-G930F using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Viber also has white color for notifications, and mine is pink, I use magenta for whatsapp, so I never know whether it's whatsapp or viber. That's how pink my white is!
But when it's only green, it glows ok. I think the problem is that the diode isn't centered well under the hole. I can see that my green diode is too much on the right side, I can see it glowing under the front panel paint.
Well that maybe correct.
When i look closely at the front camera that one isn't centered exactly in the middle of the hole!

I've found the same thing regarding the alignment status of the S7's front camera lenses. I've had a total of eight S7 phones in my possession and most of them had a significantly obvious misalignment of the front camera lens relevant to the position of its round port opening. The notification LED seems to suffer from this affliction as well to some degree. Out of the seven S7's I temporarily possessed prior to the one I currently have, only two of them had what I consider to be aesthetically pleasing front camera lens alignment - the one I have now is actually a bit off, but I've accepted it. And as I stated previously, every S7 upon which I tried the white LED (with both LightFlow and/or Light Manager, or simply from the notification provisions of individual apps) showed the pale violet color upon illumination. I thus think that Samsung may need to improve their quality control to some extent. I consider the alignment of components within an expensive device like an S7 to be a fairly important priority.
