What would be the best way to update it to nougat?
You can use Firmware Finder to update to Nougat. B131 to B360/380 without any problem.

Yes, it will get back to stock and it will even have a locked bootloader if you had unlocked it.
To update to Nougat, you should have the official OTA update (B360).
If you are already on any nougat
Do not waste time to roll back to MM
Just use the manual method to download the latest nougat B381
And put it on your microSD card and do the update as described
Maybe to read this one will help you just to update the easy way

Hi.
Did you try dl this new update?
Dload method as b381?
I can't flash the OTA with dload method from stock B380, update always fail.
Via Send firmware to Updater ends validate package failed.

Full packet?
We must wait to version marked as FullOTA-MF-PV.

What it mean?
Because updating was always possible with the version so labeled.
Someone found an answer for Charles to get this update?
I think none of these 3 packages will be able to be installed. If you are not satisfied with B360 or B380, simply go for B381. The battery and the performance are great. Even though the "close apps after lock" feature is still bugged (every time when I unlock my device, facebook and instagram etc are in background instead of closed), there is NO drain and the battery life is better compared to the B380
Actually I've still not received the B381 update
Can I somehow install 381 from 380 without twrp?

Yes, you can but you have to look at the right thread, not the one about B386.

I can't find the instruction to upgrade from 380 to 381 without custom recovery. Can you please post the link?

No, sorry. There are 2 threads about B381, a search engine and of course - google.
This thread is about B386 and it has nothing to do with something else.
I have this phone for about one week now.
It is a very good phone.
I have been reading a lot about the flashing or upgrading to the latest firmware.
As I have understood you must first go to MM to be able to use Charles or FF method.
When I got the phone it was on MM but it updated only to B360 and not to the B380
And now I see there is also the latest B386
I have the L09 model
And my question would be, since I dont want to root and install twrp and not evan force the update with FF or Charles.. I would like to ask you guys how long does it usually take to get it via OTA by the normal official way?
Or do I have to use the FF way?

The official OTAs appear like a month or two after the updates in FF. Basically, they are the same. So far we do not have any news about the B386 update. As far as I know it carries the April security patch. I recommend you to go for B381. I am already using the B381 for a few days and I find the battery life to be the best so far on Nougat.
Thanks @qtoo941
For now thats what I wanted to know
My wi fi at home is broken
As soon as my provider fixes my internet
I will give it a try with FF
Thanks again

How did u managed to Switch to B386?
So I'm finally ready to say goodbye to my H8 but after relocking the bootloader ,rolling back and dloading B360 for the L09 i am unable to get OTAs.
I thought i could simply flash another version from FF but all that did is allow me to update through HiSuite.
Plus it (HiSuite) always says I'm on a developer version.
Could anyone guide me to a proper L09 stock version that i can dload or anything else that would help?
I think I've had the problem before but I can't remember what I did to fix it other than maybe downgrading to MM.
But dloading the same file after that seems kind of pointless.

I Had That Problem When I Rebranded.
All You Have To Do Is Use " Get An Update Through DNS" In Firmware Finder And Now I Had The Latest Version.
And Then While I Did That I Suddenly Started To Get Updates Without Firmware Finder
Oh And Also How To Get To Stock:

Well the issue is i did both of those and neither allowed me to get official OTAs.
I want to sell the device as long as its worth something so this is rather important for that
But the rollback files i used are quite old so maybe its a wrong version or something.
But I did update through the FF proxy, same thing.no luck
Edit: i did the proxy update so maybe thats the culprit, but isnt it just downloading the same version as the dns one?

Which fw you were trying to install. I do not understand how you can not install eg B380 because it is point version and approved install over dload. What about unlock bootloader and flash fw over twrp?

I can install it but not over official OTA.
Also i saw i asked the same question on your other thread and apparently downgrading to MM fixed it last time.
So sorry,i forget things easy
I will try that
Tried it again with the official Rollback package and MM firmware.
Got the OTA to B360 and now, no OTA again...
Anyone have any suggestions?
So I am currently on b360 and b401 available for update, since my phone is rooted, what's the easiest way to update? I want to update via OTA again, since updates fail when I try
Thanks a lot in advance

If you're rooted, this implies your bootloader is already unlocked. Try the flashing unapproved firmware guide in Honor 8 Guides section (written by me) and you'll be rocking b401 in no time
I'm on an FRD-L04 and honestly I'm sick of waiting for oreo. The only things preventing me from rooting and flashing again are the stability/charging heat issues, and loss of functionality with the fingerprint button.
You can use Open Kirin ROM (RR Beta 3 dont know about others) which provides you option to assign functions to fingerprint button..

Oops.. i dint see that..
The easiest way to get to emui. Download the fullota from firmware finder, and use hurupdater to flash it. I also have an L04 and did it months ago.

When doing so, would you still be getting OTA update when oreo is officially out for frd-l04?

Honestly, don't expect it to be out for us. I haven't heard a single thing since August from my buddy at honor USA. You can still take OTAs by relocking your bootloader or just download the update from ff when it's available and update with hurupdater again. Either way you are going to download the firmware. I personally choose to leave my bootloader unlocked and have root.

damn, you really think frd-l04 isn't gonna receive oreo by OTA ? that would be really a shame and kinna wierd as they push it for almost all other models. Anyway the unofficial oreo frimware from ff, is it stable?

No, it's pretty normal for an OEM to update different regions and not others. It's stable, I ran it for about a week but quickly went to OpenKirin because I hate emui and the way it handles processes. If you're fine with emui then you'll be good to go
Is it possible to go from Android 13 One UI 5.0 back to Android 12 One UI 4.0? Android 13/One UI 5.0 is terrible in so many ways I am down with it. Is the bootloader the same or anything else that would cause me to downgrade back to Android 12? Let me know thank you!

Yeah Odin is no problem but that is what I am worried about. Trying to figure out if they changed to bootloader or something that wouldn't allow it to flash.

How would you then block the future OTA's ?
Are you rooted ?

I am not rooted, Unlocked S22 Ultra but you can freeze the OTA updater. I had that done before and "thought" android 13 would be nice but boy was I wrong. Guess I will buy another S22 and sell mine lol
As long as bootloader is the same , going back to 12 is not an issue..which it is. To block future updates just install AdbAppControl and disable the software update.

Is it the same bootloader? I guess I could download both updates and compare correct?
You can block info about update info too by download other version soft (older or even from A13) and flash only modem via Odin different from your current soft.
After that you will not see info about update.
