Every time I look at the Battery usage details, it shows that WiFi is always on, even if I manually turn it and WiFi+ off. It didn't used to be like this: I don't know if it changed during the last firmware update, or if something else changed it. I'm on L29C567B183. Anyone else seeing this?
Try advance settings - location - the three dots in the right corner
Turn off WiFi scan

That was it, thanks! Don't know how/when that got turned back on.

I'm facing the same issue, whatsapp draining my battery in a few hours at night

Hi guy, my wifi won't turn off when my Xoom is on sleep. I have set the settings of 'keep wifi on during sleep' both to 'NEVER' and 'ONLY WHEN PLUGGED' but nothing happens. Wifi stays on and keeps draining my battery life. I am running rooted with the latest version of nightly 62 and I've been having this issue since 55. I have reinstalled, flashed, factory reset, wiped my Xoom.
Is anyone else having this issue? What should I do?
From my experience, wifi stays on for a little while longer after device sleeps. However, some apps in background may trigger wifi back on again. So I turn off wifi when i go to bed. Actually i notice wifi itself will not drain much battery, 1-2% for 10hr. It's the host apps sucking the juice.
I am not an expert though.
OK i've also checked it out and as you said wifi turns off after some time. My main problem now is that my battery life won't last more than 3-4 hours on wifi.
I have posted my battery stats with use of web browsing and watching pictures on gallery...

What do you mean "no more than 3-4 hours"? In your battery chart, you can get more than that even starting from 75% battery.
What I wanted to say is that I think my battery won't last more than 4 hours with wifi on and some serious usage.. from my stats as I can see I've been using it 5 hours but I only had screen on and browsing the web. I think there will be a huge difference if I am watching a movie or playing a game.. I don't have the time to check it now but I will post my results in some days..
According to my previous battery graph do you see any problem or something less from what your Xoom battery holds? Does this battery drain seems normal to you?

I think you'll find it will stay on for about 15 minutes. There is some setting in a system database (using a sqlite editor) that can be changed to bring this down. I doubt Wifi is what's draining your battery. Are you synching email via activesync or running other stuff in the background?
I am only using my yahoo mail from the EMail app. I don't know if it uses activesync. I have set it to check emails every 30minutes.
wifi not turning off
Edit: I found the wifi sleep option in ICS. Google sure did a great job of hiding it. See attached picture for anyone else having wifi staying on during sleep issues.
So there are three options
Keep WiFi on during sleep
1) Always
2) Only when plugged in
3) Never
What option to set if i want Wifi to turn of after some time of when phone sleeps. Previously i had set the option to 15 minutes but that option is not available in ICS and i m having a hard time understanding how these options work on my sensation.
Can anyone explain what each of these options do ?

My guess:
1) Always: WIFI always on no matter awake or asleep
2) Only when plugged in: WIFI always on only when plugged to power
3) Never: WIFI will be off if asleep (my current setting)
That was it

Thanks, I had not seen the option to turn wifi off during sleep.

Bear in mind that (irritatingly) applications can seemingly change this setting.

For an app to change wifi sleep policy, it needs the WRITE_SETTINGS permission.
Revert to Stock with Chaos kernel, over the night - airplane mode, battery went to 84% for 9hrs. What can I try to fix this?
Here are some screens:
Have you checked for wakelocks?

this morning again, drain is back, transparent weather widget. Is there a fix for this? GPS was turned off (it was ON but not as image is showing)
same issue was on DroidKang ROM. This is from Stock ROM with Chaos kernel
Turn location off for that app on the bottom. Your GPS is stuck on. Or turn your location setting from device only to one of the other settings.

rebooting solves it, butI have noticed behavior like this with some other apps, for example foursquare. Is this normal for GPS to stuck like that? It was on 2 different ROM's
I've unchecked the Google services thing in the WiFi Settings, however, from time to time, it seems to turn itself back on. But even when it's shown as off, the WiFi stays on in the battery charts.
Anyone else have the same problem/have a solution?
I'm using a oneplus two and even I'm experiencing the issue.. I think it's a problem with 5.1.1
After the latest update I've noticed that when only using my phone, location just turns on by itself. With the notification at the top you can see how it's grayed out but once it goes away, it turns on. Basically... This is annoying, I don't want my battery going down the drain and I don't know what is causing this.

I had this happen before the update though...
It only seemed (and still does after the update) to happen when you had location set to High Accuracy.
They are watching you! ?

Turn off wifi calling. I believe it is verifying that you are calling from your known E911 address that you had setup. Mine turned on today (without the update) when I activated wifi calling.
When I initially put my phone face flat or in my pocket, my aod would completely turn off. However, when I do the same now, the screen just dims and the blue (infinity wallpaper) hue disappears completely. However, this isn't the same thing as the screen turning off, as doze will not be able to kick in. Is anyone else dealing with a similar problem?
You have to make sure the "Keep screen turned off" setting is enabled in Settings - Display - Keep screen turned off.

Yeah, I have the same issue. I checked to make sure that the "keep screen turned off" is enabled. It is and my phone still won't turn off completely and thus my battery drains needlessly. Anything else we should check or look into?

I thought I had the same problem but after testing it I found out that it just takes pretty long to go completely off ?
