Both are same Software channel but different versions
Both are safe to flash as I said in my previous post
Both are unsigned , you cannot relock your bootloader ...but yes you will officially receive OTAs in future of you do not root or modify your system
Hope this helps

Please, you tell me finally which should I download RETASIA or RETAIL for my Indian Moto z play? which is better and most up to date version? I am confused because there are so many options in both folders. So please finals you suggest me which particular file should I download? give me the link or tell me.
And please also tell me why there are two software versions/channels for the same country (India) i.e., RETASIA and RETAIL or RETIN? Why they create so much confusion for India?

Yes you can flash RETAIL version
Yes you can
Wysłane z mojego HTC U Ultra przy użyciu Tapatalka
My guess is that these files come with the baseband files to the phones as well, correct me if I'm wrong but the modems change from one side of the globe to the other, so flashing files that have a different distribution channel will also flash a different modem file on your phone potentially causing other problems ?
Please somebody upload official stock Nougat 7.0 Firmware of Moto Z Play for Indian version (RETASIA/RETIN)? There is a 7.0 RETAIL firmware version for Moto Z Play https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/addison/official/RETAIL/XT1635-02_ADDISON_7.0_NPNS25.137-24-1-4_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip but I doubt that it is not official for India. Well if you are rooted then you better download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-stock-motorola-lollipop-rom-t3017510 and choose the right firmware for your device. You can flash it through custom recovery like twrp or cwm recovery. Hope this can help...
HOW TO DOWNGRADE from 6.0 to 5.1.1
this is just a reminder for those who installed the OTA. 5.1.1 and want to go back and have a little afraid (personally I stay at 6.0)
as we know whenever motorola launches an update we have a change in the numbering of the boot, and security for a possible brick be skipped two lines, in this case we have no motoboot call but in this case is called bootloader and the second is the gpt.bin kills equipment.
NOTE: Following this procedure exactly it is safe to get the ota 6.0
Note 2: unlock bootloader
then the scrip is the sig: way (via fastboot)
fastboot enter and move with VOL- key to bootloader log from there we will see the process at our terminal in every command that apply
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin (NOT FLASH)
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.5
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.6
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.8
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash FSG fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata (if you choose not to put the command does not lose data, or information of sd)
fastboot reboot
Your computer starts
note. and once you start and configure them appear a message downgrade firmware in reference to sensors motorola, nothing to fear just say yes
Cheers
Question
First for all thanks for you tutorial.
I had to downgrade beacuse i messed something up and got into a boot stuck in 6.0.
I have downgraded to my original firmware (Mexico), but i wan to try again installing soak test.
I need to reinstall brazil firmware and then OTA, my quiestion is if I need to skip again flashing the bootloader.img and the gpt.bin
Or the skip thing is only for downgrading?
Yes install brazilian. if doing the downgrade ignores files is equal to switch to firmware Brazil will have omitted to put back the ota

Actually I am new to these fast boot and other stuff as I have migrated from samsung and have never used such things.I am from India and my phone is not rooted.I have downloaded the Indian OTA file from the other thread and my phone detects it for up gradation. But I have a little doubt here.If something goes wrong and I have ro revert back to the original 5.1.1 firmware,do I have to follow this procedure? If so please give a detailed step by step tutorial as it will help not only me,but also many others who might need to revert back to original and are noob like me in this regard.
I downgraded my moto x pure edition xt1575 today from 6.0 soak test back to 5.1.1 then installed the final 6.0 ota I had to use Mfastboot to do this and I had to flash bootloader but not gpt.bin

practically , if you use the right you ota not have any problem even if you have not released the bootloader. if you run into a problem I will try to restore this procedure omitting the two files, after that if any error jumps indicate the bootloader us
for the most common consequence are devido to upgrade gpt.bin which is already in the fleet to be removed and driven independently, the other is the boot .
and to get out of a serious problem easier to do it with the unlocked bootloader
in this community of xda much information and many people helping of heart can be sure that more than one will help you in case of a problem
So, we don't flash gpt and bootloader?
Yes, dont flash

if you already had released the bootloader and Cel brickeo status 0 but it will open bootloader, we need more data about what happened to you that was the last thing you did or do quisistes as OTA you should not skip that error unless you use fastboot. Some firmwares doesn't let you revert back without unlocking the bootloader, brazilian firmware .32 is one example. And on your firmware, you have to look if there are more sparsechunk files, and do the flash system to all of them.
DISCLAIMER - if you have never rooted or flashed a phone in the past, please stop reading now. Don't even try this, you will probably brick your phone. This process complete replaces all OS components on your phone which can be hard to reverse if you don't know what you are doing. Proceed at your own risk! Backup and have a few roms handy to flash in case you mess up if the guide does not work for you. Make sure you have plenty of battery life before beginning.
This is a guide to restore to stock a Retail Asia (Australian Vodafone) Moto X Style XT1572 single sim phone.
I rooted and then flashed the EU single sim version rom of 6.0 a while ago, but now I wanted to go back to stock. Here is guide how. You will need your bootloader unlocked and developer mode on for USB debugging.
I believe the original Stock OS for the Retail Asia single sim Moto X style was 'X_Style_XT1572_CLARK_RETASIA_5.1.1_LPH23.116-18.1'. That is version 23.116-18.1. Retail Asia, NOT dual sim. The only reason to do this is you have an Australia/ Retail Asia handset and you flashed another rom on to it and want to go back to the Retail Asia single sim OTA update (Australian vodafone). If you have not messed with your phone you should not need to do this. But you could download the OS image as a future backup in case you ever want to back original stock rom the phone shipped with.
Google drive link - 'X_Style_XT1572_CLARK_RETASIA_5.1.1_LPH23.116-18.1 (1.4gb)
Once you have downloaded the zip, decompress it to a folder. Then using Command prompt or Terminal navigate to the folder. Make sure you have fastboot or mfastboot running properly (not sure why you need to use mfastboot but some do), boot in to the bootloader and beginning flashing the individual components of the zip file.

fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img

Once you reboot the phone you should be running the completely stock rom the phone come with. It will remove root and any custom recovery you might have installed. It will not relock the bootloader.
To get the OTA you need to be on the stock rom and NOT rooted. Once you reboot within seconds you should get an update notification to download the new 24.11.20 Android M 6.0 update. It is about 640mb.
I hope this helps.
Thanks
Was wondering when they would release the official update for retasia
Have reverted back to stock to download the OTA and also captured the OTA for single sim retasia. The version number on this is slightly newer than the Europe and US versions I have been using

Awesome! Thank you @Sensation_NZ. I tried to capture the OTA but for some reason my adb would flash but not rewrite anything from the device back. I have grabbed a copy for future use.
wondering if all Australian X Style handsets are Asian? or EU?
Thanks for the post... Just wondering if you could help me, where could I find the modem for the Australian version? Thank you

Never mind, it is included. "fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin" . Thank you very much for this post, life saver!
How did you capture the OTA?
Will this work for dual sim??
Great .. My 1st BootLoop ..
I followed this to the T .. And now it doesn't boot ...
Anyone know how to fix this so it works again, like back to Stock that works.?
I think you flashed Lolipop.
The same way as here:

Don't copy&paste; read, think & retype, download newest 6.x.x for your model, check how many sparsechunks it has(9,10,12?). @Lethal_1

Extract firmware in fastboot folder, then use SHIFT + RCLICK there (Open new command prompt) and insert commands in post #1 one by one
is it possible to put forth the command to erase userdata? so the flashing is done after wiping the phone

After flashing does it show retin or retus in the about section? And have you experienced any issues? I have a xt1644 g4plus 64gb/4gb model and wanna do the upgrade, but not if there's issues though. Thanks in advance

It shows RETUS. No issues so far besides the notification sounds being low some times.
Flashed on my XT1644 g4plus on Verizon in the US yesterday.
So far, I have no issues to report. Seems to work fine. It does seem the battery drains faster, but I am likely just using it more looking for new stuff...
I do miss my ad blocker, though. Hopefully it'll be rooted soon, otherwise I may try a custom ROM just to keep these dang ads away...

First, the 7.1.1 update is available for download in the OTA channel, and then after a few weeks, the fastboot image will be available for download.

Before you do anything, read about the fastboot program on the XDA forum. There is no root or unlocked bootloader required.
Which Baseband does this come with? Currently on M8936_2020632.44.03.21.57R and wondering if worth updating baseband only (currently using LOS 14.1 as ROM). Cheers

Baseband Version: M8936_20250112.18.05.38R
You can always test. Without loss of data, you can go back to the previous version of the modem(fastboot marshmallow 6.0.1).
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn

OK thanks for the info, tried the above commands (twice now) and under phone status the baseband version hasn't updated, the fastboot commands executed OK. Any ideas? Has it updated just not the references to the version?
Hello! I'm facing huge trouble with fastboot. Can someone have a Flashable Zip or a twrp backup of this OTA? :crying: thx a lot

Android Pay requires a blocked bootloader. In LIneageos or another custom rom, the Magisk program hides Root and the unlocked bootloader.
Install the Magisk program on a stock android
Or
You are blocking the bootloader
Thanks from now I'm using magisk
