Samsung Galaxy S8+ and 2016 Gear VR issues - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hi All,
I was one of the unfortunate people that lucked out on the newer Gear VR promotion.
I have the last model Gear VR from 2016 .. to most part, it does work with my Samsung Galaxy S8+ .. tight fit .. but for the life of me, I can not seem to get any audio out of my phone when it's connected !
I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled .. no matter what I do, with the SGS8+ and 2016 Gear VR .. no audio !
Any one ran into this issue ?

I had to go into the settings once inside the VR main page and turn the volume up.

So the Volume buttons on the Gear VR do not function with the SGS8+ ! .. I'll give that a try later (at work right now :silly: )

as you mentioned it's tight.. might be the volume keys are pressed..
try to disable the hardware keys using the Package Disabler pro (premium) and check it..
even the latest Gear VR is a tight fit, sometimes i can see the volume bar showing in the VR display without touching anything the in the GearVR.

What I've found is that regardless of my turning on the volume in one session of using the VR glasses, the next session mutes it again when I use the VR application/glasses. You have to go in and turn it up manually AFTER you have the glasses on and through the VR application using the remote.

YOUTUBE VR looking for a fix

Hi. Can anyone point me in the right direction.
I'm looking for a way to emulate a single touch with an earphone button to be able to select and re-center in the youtube app
while in cardboard mode. I have a VR headset but
it lacks any way to give a signal to the phone without
removing it from the headset. I think the easiest way to
accomplish it is using the media button on my earphones
but for some reason the phone stops receiving any input
from them as soon as I start the Cardboard view. I've been
able to emulate touch outside of the app with Vol- but no
luck once the app is put into said mode.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 4 - Rooted
F/W: Android 5.0.1 stock
Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post just wanted to
give a reasonably detailed post of the issue.

Google Daydream View + S7

So I picked up a Daydream View for the hell of it. My experience thus far:
I had to update to Nougat to be able to install the Daydream and VR Services APKs.
Once installed, I was able to launch the Daydream app, but it would crash upon tapping the cardboard button.
I then installed Google Arts & Culture APK, and it displayed correctly. I had to dismiss an 'unsupported device' prompt.
I was able to successfully pair the Daydream Controller to my bluetooth, but the controller provided no input to the app.
I updated the Daydream and VR Services APKs to the December 13th build, and Daydream no longer crashed when launching cardboard.
The 'unsupported device' prompt would sometimes exit the view, but tapping "got it" quickly would keep it running.
The device got warm, but not too hot.
The sensor drift is quite evident, as well as subtle jitter while looking around, but nothing too drastic.
I could not pair the controller, holding the home button does nothing.
So far, I was able to successfully use Daydream on the S7, but could not connect the controller to achieve the full experience.
I'm interested in this thing
Does other controller work or is necesary the google one? I think I've read something about motion controlling so I guess the answer is nope
Please is quite urgent
Is it possible to use daydream with normal S7 or you need Edge?
And is possible to use another bluetooth controller as mine gamesir 2 ?

Same here. I got 7.0 ota update on my unrooted sim free s7.
Loaded daydream and vr services from APK files. I get the incompatible message and aftwr pairing the controller it doesn't work. Still saying "click home button". Anyone have better experience?
Anyone know the a correct profile to get it to match up with a gear VR unit?

A8 + Gear VR : accelerometer misconfigured?

I just got a brand new A8, and I also bought a Gear VR headset for it (version 323/2016). When I put the phone in for the first time, it talks to the headset, installed all the apps as you'd expect.
Now, this this is where the problems start. It appears it is somehow faulty. I have vertical head movement, and tilt head movement, but nothing horizontal. Like it's completely missing an accelerometer axis or something.
Going into the sensor tests via *#0*#, everything largely seems ok. Except if I pay close attention to the accelerometer. It seems to only register tilt forward/back (on two axis, Y and Z, which are 90 degrees apart) and rotate left/right. There isn't anything for movement left-right. If the headset were using gyro or magnetic that would be ok, but the accelerometer is... misconfigured? Maybe a firmware update needed?
Hi, I've the same gear vr and everything works ok. I've tested it with the last arb6 update and with the one before that.
I don't know precisely the sensors used during vr sessions.

Question Find my phone not working when screen is off

Find my phone is not working when screen is off. All permissions are on for the wear and Samsung plugin app. My phone is Poco F3. Should it be a Samsung phone to work properly or the screen off causes the app to stop working?
On Xiaomi Mi 11 "find my phone" only works when Galaxy Wearable app is open on Smartphone (and screen is lit).
Thank you for your answer. I have addressed the problem though by giving lock screen permissions to the Samsung galaxy plug-in app. See attached photo. Now everything is working fine. And I'm very happy about it
Wow, I removed all energy saving and gave all permissions to galaxy wearable and watch4 plugin and indeed now it works. Thanks for the tip!
