I am currently having a weak connection when connecting bt devices. My Gear S2 disconnects when I walk into another room and bt speakers cut out when my hand is placed on back of the phone.
My Bluetooth range is as expected with my Gear S2.

What are the actual distances involved? Without numbers, it's hard to evaluate these statements.

I think my S2 has about 10ft more range now compared to when I was using it with my S6 plus. But using a Bluetooth speaker has been a lot worse. I can only go 5ft away from my speaker before it cuts in and out with phone in hand and 10ft when I lay my phone down.
I've found that my range is much greater than with my last phone(Moto X Pure) but it takes longer to connect to my car. I also noticed the S8 doesn't display artist and song info on my car which is kind of disappointing.
My gear S2 is disconnecting more often on my s8+ than on my S7 and iPhone, seems to disconnect at 10 feet. Still get good range with my Bluetooth speaker. My gear S2 got an update today that had Bluetooth connectivity as an issue, but I notice no improvement
My S8+ looses the BT connection with Gear S3 at half the range I had when using with S7 Edge.

Same here with s8 add gs3, also can't keep phone in back pocket while using LG tone bt headphones like I could with S7. Huge bummer please fix Samsung!

Not having any issues with BT, my Gear Fit 2 never loses connection anywhere in the house and my phone can be laying on the kitchen table and the car loses connection about 50' - 60' down the driveway.
OMG....
Android N doesn't support bluetooth 5 so it uses lower version. Also unless your other device is bluetooth 5, it will still be lower. It uses BT4 and range is what it should be.

Anyone else having Bluetooth issues? My wife just upgraded to a new S6 Edge 64gb from an S4. She continually complains about the Bluetooth dropping, and sounding all garbled up. Especially in areas where the S4 used to work. Anyone else have similar experiences?
nope
Yes, had the same a while back. Reset helped so far

Yes. OMG it's horrible.
Turning off/on BT fixes it for a while.
I'm hoping a future update addresses the issue.
Mine is terrible compared to my old S3. I have it paired to the radio on my bike so I can stream while I ride. My S3 was solid, good sound quality, never dropped in and out and I could walk about 20-25 feet away without any interruption. Now with my new "upgrade" to the S6, I can barely get 5 feet away from the radio before the signal completely drops out and I get a lot of stuttering and dropping in and out while I am just sitting on the bike. Re-setting the BT and re-pairing everything fixes it for about 2 minutes if I am lucky.
In the end I really don't like the BT capability of the S6 at all compared to my phone from 3 year old technology.
Install the new rom and check if it helps

I'll try that and see if it helps. will post a follow up after a couple of days.
I was told by Samsung that the S6 has a newer version of Bluetooth which is not always compatible with older bluetooth versions in cars etc. They suggested seeing if there was an update for the radio firmware in our vehicle. Well, we have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and the dealer says there are no updates at this time. I did try AT&T's suggestion which was to wipe the phone and factory reset it and start over. Tomorrow my wife will test it on her way to work again and see if its any better. If neither of those options work aT&T said I can opt for a warranty replacement.
I was doing some house work tonight and found that the audio would skip when I was any more than about 10 feet away from my speaker.
I can walk to the end of my back yard with my Optimus G with out problems (about 200 feet).
?
Hi, I make my comparisons versus my Gear 2 and just what seems reasonable.
With my Gear 2 I could be in another room in the house, a good 15 meters away and no issues, with the S2 (especially with the new function of vibrate on disconnect) it constantly drops when I move room even sometimes for no reason.
Also setup the WIFI option as a backup but again half the time it shows the WIFI signal as poor and I am sat right near the router, which is working 100% fine with everything else (i.e. mobile, laptops, tablets, tv.)
i get the same, bluetooth just disconnects , don't know why. also bluetooth music earphones cut out and range poor
I have exactly the same range problem on galaxy s6 edge plus with all bluetooth devices.
It's shocking , if Samsung don't fix these issues soon , will switch to fist android wear device with lte , there lucky the urbane 2nd got discontinued
A hard reset helped but still disappointing
How is everyone finding the S2 bluetooth and wifi connectivity, I find it considerably worse than my old Gear 2.
Bluetooth at best is good for 10 meters with line of sight, but at home barely 5 meters when moving into other rooms.
The WIFI connect is also hopeless can connect when sat in front of the router by move into another room and it's gone.
Done a few wipes and clean installs but issue remains.
Trying to gauge if it's just generally worse or I have an issue.
Be lucky that you have five meters. When i have my phone on my right side and my watch on my left hand both direct next to my i lost the connection.
Oh no sorry to hear, but suspect it's a design issue affecting all S2.
Annoying at with my Gear 2 it was great and I hoped with WIFI it would be even better.
I've NO problems with BlueTooth and/or WiFi on my Gear S2 Classic!
When phone is in the living room, and I'm going upstairs (1st floor) with doors closed, I've still a stable BT-connection!
Much, much, much better then my previous smartwatch: LG Urbane!
Yea I have had no issues with my WiFi or BT. Good connections while at work or home.
No issues here. I home I've never been disconnected aside from the few second switch over from BT to wifi.
At work I leave my phone at my desk and move throughout the large building with no issues from the wifi.

Absolutely no issues here as well. The range actually is longer than any watch I've ever owned.
Thanks think I'll test some more (might be just at home new build so designed like a Faraday cage) then send to Samsung.
Also at my side no problems. BT connection works flawlessly up to around 20 meters in sight or 10-12 with walls between. WiFi is comparable with my Note4.
I have a UK Galaxy S7 and I am wondering if anyone has had any issues with the bluetooth being perhaps a bit low powered. I have a Bose QC35 bluetooth headset and it works perfectly with my iPhone 6. I recently bought an S7 and the range seems to be awful with it cutting out anything more than a meter away. I have tried different orientations and it starts to stutter with my hand over the top of the phone (I assume the antennas location) specifically with it on my left side. I assume this is because the antenna in the Bose Headset is on the right ear cup. I don't have this issue with the iPhone so it must be a problem with the Galaxy S7. I returned the one I bought as I wondered whether my phone was specifically faulty and the issue is just as apparent on the new one. I have rooted my phone so I cant send it back and just wondered if anyone here had any ideas on what might solve it (can I lower the bitrate of the bluetooth compression some how?).
This video demonstrates how awful the stuttering problem is. The phone is within 1m range at all times and this cut out is obviously not acceptable. Here's a demo if it isn't clear.

same issue still can't find a solution...
i do have the same issue, post about it here :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/help/galaxy-s7-europe-exynos-bluetooth-range-t3588047
my wifi reception is also bad, i get max 50 mbps on a 1gb fiber connexion, my old s4 is doing everything better and faster than the S7, i don't get it...

Ref the WiFi & cell signal I did notice my previous A5 2016 was reporting slightly stronger signals than my new S7. Tried another & it was the same. Weird.
I remember it was worse when I had a back case on it which I later lost getting into the Gear VR & that not accepting one. Not sure what you could use as a reference point though as the 'bar' system is frequently criticised for it's inaccuracies & there are a lot of signal apps out there to choose from.
Ref the WiFi do you have your router transmitting 5Ghz A/C? Only that's where the best speeds would be to be had with the S7 supporting A/C. Using my TP-Link VR600 transmitting a 5Ghz A/C 80 MHz signal referencing the Network Cell Info app I get about -40dBm with 866 Mbps link speed which gives me access to the full 80/20 offering of my fibre. With Wireless N rather than AC & on a 20Mhz 2.4Mhz channel I would be looking at a Link Speed somewhere in the region of 54Mbps. I wonder if that's where you are?

Anyone else experience terrible bluetooth range on their gear s3? It is much worse than my old gear s2. I am connected to a S8 so even with new Bluetooth 5.0, the range is awful. Not sure why. I do have the Gear S3 LTE through verizon but that shouldn't matter.
Could you please give example?
1 meter or 2 or less?
So we could compare...
Question is because..
I have killed 1 SMD part form my SM-R732... during some soldering activities...
So I know why range for BT and WiFi is dramatically lost...
In my device. :crying:
Best Regards

I actually think it is not that bad. I can walk downstairs in my two story home and keep the connection but occasionally if I stray too far horizontally from where the phone is located upstairs, I will hear the Beep showing I've lost BT. Plaster/lath home.
Bluetooth 5.0 doesn't matter if both devices don't have it.

There isn't much of an antenna in the watch so you're not going to see the distances you see between two phones.

It is definitely less than my Sony SWR50 smartwatch
But can usually get one or two rooms over before it disconnects.
Its more than i expected.. more than a perfect with my S8+
