[G935U] Official Stock Nougat Odin Files - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Dis

After so long of waiting things are looking up for the U version of Nougat.
I've been hawking these Samsung forums for a while where everyone is waiting for Nougat on the G935U and there were people on Samsung's staff who have been trying to get it for months now. Anyways, today people are finally reporting getting the Nougat update on their unlocked S7 Edges.

Thanks for sharing this. It's about time they released it. Downloading now. Just flash the 4 files in the zip as normal and all is well on Verizon? No fix files or anything like the previous MM?

using unlocked version , so no idea about this

Flashed this 3 days ago-- Battery life is incredible and it's VERY fast.
*Native hotspot works
*Haven't tried video calling yet, so can't confirm
*HD calling works
*No extra icons in the status bar (ie. VoLTE, etc)
I tried flashing the engineering bootloader to try rooting, but it caused a bootloop. I'm going to try again after a clean wipe.

OK so i installed it but i cant get video calling to work. Any thoughts? I use it quite a bit and i would hate to have to choose between video calling and tethering

Is root officially available for this? I've rooted my Verizon 7.0 Nougat. Also...ive been reading on the U firmware lately will it mess up anything if we flush it on a Verizon phone? And with it being all bands Will a Verizon phone get better cellular service?
Sent from my SM-G935V using XDA-Developers Legacy app

I kinda wish this was available for the non edge version but I guess I'm just gonna have to wait

How did you activate HD calling? Also is this still able to use Wi-Fi calling or does anyone know of an app that will enable that feature?

I noticed that I can't talk on the phone and use LTE data at the same time...i wanted the firmware for lack of bloat and the stock device manager that verizon took away...i can live without wifi calling but is there a setting I'm missing to activate talking on the phone and simultaneous use of data?

who is know the nougat u frim for flat download adress? i'm look for so long time:crying:

why flat firmware didn't publish with edge at same time? i am always wait it.

does verizon VOLTE (advanced calling) work on the U rom? I just got a G935A phone and want to flash U (or V) variant for my Verizon sim.

I wanted to mention I flashed onto 935V today, working great. Seems snappier. I need to pop another sim though and confirm if LTE works or not. I wonder if this unlocks the other channels (Basebands) If it does, then we have a real way of "unlocking" 935V to use with other carriers or roam.

I'm now on Verizon Nougat. Can I flash directly to G935U with this file? From other sources it seems we have to flash to 6.0 first and then this one to 7.0.

4G Not Working!

The title says it. My Wind SGH-T959W's (Galaxy S 4G) 4G is not working on the ROM that I am using. The ROM that I am using currently is Octane 2.3.6 for T959V, but all ROMs for that phone work on mine. 4G Only works on a few ROMs that I installed, but they aren't Deodexed (which i need). Is there a way to get the 4G to work on the phone?
Thanl You

If it says "H" next to the signal bar, you're using "4G". The stock Samsung ROM uses 4G instead of showing H, all other ROMs show H.

There isn't an H either. I think the problem is that the ROM has support for only T-Mobile, but I'm just looking that there is a way i could get 4G with Wind.
@getochkn made a thread for the Wind LB6 modem here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941078
There doesn't seem to be a flashable zip for 2.3.6 but if you update to anything newer than ICS you'll be able to flash it.
I actually recommend you give CM11 a go. 2.3.6 is now 2 years old and your phone is vulnerable to a lot of exploits that Samsung never patched but are fixed with more recent ROMs. KitKat runs amazingly well on this phone and you won't have the bloat that the stock Samsung rom comes with too.

Check out the CM11 thread, there haven't been complaints about the ROM. There was an issue with a Google Play Services update causing some battery drain, but I released an update a few days ago that had a patch fixing that.
It's a solid ROM, it still amazes me how well it works on this phone .

Try doing a factory reset, if that doesn't work, do full wipes and then reinstall the ROM.

I got 4G working by wiping everything, and installing the rom again. Then I installed gapps and 4G wont work. I did all of that again but didnt install gapps and it works great! :good: The ROM is actually very good for this phone and I will probably keep it like this.
But I still need the gapps for automatic updates, and very easily downloading apps. Mobogenie just doesnt do it for me.
And Candy Crush wont work as when i launch it, it stays at the loading screen then just closes to the home screen.
Any way to fix these issues?

There is NO BETTER ROM than TEAM Acid CM11 for this phone. Top to bottom, this is the best its gonna get.

if you have APH1 you can now flash API3 to have unlocked g935u

So i had taken the update for my verizon g935v which updated to APH1 which disabled you from going to the 935u... well 935u received a new update. API3 is now installed on my phone. Heres the screenshot. check it out!

No, if you don't want to root, you can have stock u firmware without root, but you're not going to have WiFi calling or volte without root, at least you had to have root before haven't checked on the new firmware.

Hi, when you say unlocked, you mean SIM unlocked?
As far as I know Verzon´s s7 edge comes factory sim unlocked or do I have to flash this firm to hav it sim unlocked?

Sprint Note 5 on MetroPCS

I have a rooted Sprint Note 5 with the "Speed Racer" rom installed with TWRP. Before I left Sprint I requested to have my phone unlocked and it went through w/o a problem. However, yesterday when I went to MetroPCS and threw their SIM in my card I thought everything was going ok.
I realize now that although I have full data and text messaging I can't receive or make phone calls. I tried different APN settings and changed from LTE/CDMA to AUTOMATIC but none of that has worked. I even tried calling MetroPCS but they weren't able to get it up and running either. I need the know how of the XDA community to help me out please. Will give a small donation to someone if they can get me through this!

Is that a GSM sim? Install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mangelow.network&hl=en netwrok apk, and see if you can choose GSM/WCDMA mode on it. If not you have to flash a custom rom to get all GSM functions and get rid off sprint stuff.
If CDMA sim, i can't help further.

Hey, is there maybe another option on that app that may work? I tried downloading this DarthVader ROM on the T-Mobile forum that was supposed to be somewhat universal and during the Aroma installation you had to choose between Tmboile or International version. After choosing the TMobile version it loaded up but it didn't give me any network options at all.
Can you maybe advise a good rom that may work?

You cannot flash a Tmobile or International rom just like that... unless built for N920P
Download this rom https://www.fshare.vn/file/PRC6K2C8S4UP
This fix 1 https://www.fshare.vn/file/DZMSWWJPO2VZ
Fix 2 https://mega.nz/#!xc1TlKqS!ylDEK24P-hIzuSjj3kdPRNOclCcFWnx-22lH2eRLPDw
Fix 3 https://mega.nz/#!dQ9GRQqB!_tK2J2HeoNwTMetKlYms4PbaesT23UQGXwvw8R23QNs
Wipe full in twrp (cache/dalvic/data/system)
Flash 4 files in TWRP one by one.. then reboot. First boot may take upto 10min.. don't worry.
You may need to add an APN.
And you may use Linksvip.net to get High speed links from fshare site (if original site is slow.)

Did last year's snapdragon S7 ever get root? I'm not used to this because all previous Galaxy phones were international, but my carrier is selling the U1 model this time around and not "F" varients... The S7 got what we called ENGBOOT root. Which was not really full functioning root. It required you to flash a Samsung created engineering kernel, that is purposely unstable, but is designed to help Samsung repair shops fix corrupt devices.
With some tweaking root was achieved, but the bootloader stayed locked. And the performance was so degraded by the engineering kernel MOST people went back to stock and never used root.
Sadly rooting and ROMing most phones is going away. Especially now that Google is providing an easy way for developers to turn off access to an app if the user is rooted. Right now even if you have root you can't use Netflix, Samsung Pay, Android Pay, among many others.
If you want root still I'd look at a 1+ or the Essential phone or the international model if this phone. Otherwise you are probably out of luck.

Yes.
I have been using AdClear for a while now and it works great including in YouTube. The development team has an xda thread that has the downloads and a bunch of great info. Just search xda.
I use BK Package Disabler to freeze apps. It lets you freeze individual processes in apps as well which is great for blocking only certain features of apps. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.packagedisabler
For making a back to restore I actually like Samsung's Smart Switch. Works great to backup your phone to a computer.
Also in Developer settings you can manually address your DPI, and over in the S8 International threads there is a list of about 40+ fonts that can be installed.

Awesome. Will flash when I get a chance. Hopefully no issues on OPTUS.
This may seem like a stupid question, and I am assuming the answer is no, but does flashing an official firmware lock it to that carrier ?

No as long as you sim unlock it first there should be no issues

TMO OnePlus 7 Pro

So... I have sim unlock, received bootloader unlock code from one plus... now what? From what I have read, I am able to root the stock firmware with Magisk.
If I want to go the custom rom route, it looks like a majority of the roms are based on international version and I need to convert to international first.
I did hear the TMO firmware is optimized for their Network for volte and wifi calling, so if I do change to international, what will be the advantages/disadvantages?

I'm using the int version of the OP7P with a TMO US Sim and cannot report any problems, VoLTE and VoWifi do work.
I think @joemossjr found there may be a LTE band priority difference between international and T-Mobile specific ROMs. TBH, I stick to an official T-Mobile ROM primarily because I want to get the best possible performance on T-Mobile's network.
I'm on T-Mobile, but have a rooted international rom installed. VoLTE and VoWifi ALWAYS work without issues.

So what's the advantage for a rooted international rom vs a rooted tmo rom?
My understanding is that most of the custom ROMs available are based off that version, but if I stay stock and rooted, other than updates coming faster, would there be any reason to do the conversion?

Well, the international rom comes straight from oneplus, so it won't be over bloated with T-Mobile background apps. Won't have the magneta boot screen. Of course these things can be delt with in a rooted tmobile rom version. So mainly quicker updates (fixes).
Thanks for the feedback. I know the international version is way more popular than tmo, so the conversion is inevitable. Maybe someone will be able to work some magic and be able to help us figure out what the tmo optimizations are and have some kind of patch we can zip with twrp.

That would be awesome! But yeah, I'd like to know if there's a huge difference in the mobile data or whatever compared to the T-Mobile rom as well.
Anyone know? I'm just wondering if the only advantage using the T-Mobile rom over the International one is better Volte and Vowifi? Or are they pretty much the same?
Using the int version (bought it to avoid the unlock and reflash hassl, return the TMO OP7P.to the TMO shop after I found out after having asked when buying) with US and DE TMO sims, I did not find any issues. The OP7P finally supports VoLTE and VoWiFi with German TMO which the OP6 did not.
The only thing I've noticed so far running International on T-Mobile is a couple times I've lost signal completely and I'll get two SIM card symbols in my staus bar until I reboot. Otherwise it's been perfect.
I'm on TMO, bootloader unlock, rooted with twrp installed, for some reasons i can't install adaway it says not enough storage. I have plenty of storage like 230G. Can't find any answer as to why.
