Powerbank can't charge Samsung Galaxy S8 plus - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Help! I bought a Qc3.0 xpower xp-pb6qc powerbank from electronic store last night.
http://xpower.com.hk/xpower-pb6qc-quick-charge-30-6000mah-power-bank
Connected it to my s8+, but the s8+ charges it instead of the other way round. I tried to select "tap for other USB options", followed by "charge this phone". But it doesn't work.
When I use it to charge my wife's Samsung S7 Edge (USB C from powerbank to micro USB on S7 Edge), it works fine with fast charging enabled.
Any bro can help?

[Q]Charging using USB

When I connect my P6200 using usb, it doesn't charge, instead, there is an 'x' symbol at the battery. Is this normal? Because using my Galaxy Ace, it charges when usb is connected. I'm asking this because I'm trying usb tether for the first time, but in this case if it doesn't charge, it means that I can only usb tether until my battery has depleted and I would have to recharge again to be able to tether.
Yup. Usb is not able to charge tab and ipad. Need to plug to wall for charging
Sent from my GT-P6200 using XDA Premium App
Actually it does charge. More of a trickle charge tho. If the screen is off, then it will trickle charge a bit faster.
If the tab is connected via USB, will it at least be able to sustain itself via the USB power?
So if your battery is on 50%, and you keep the tablet on and are using it. Will it at least stay on 50% and not decrease slowly?
Samsung puts a resistor in their chargers so the tablet can distinguish between a Samsung brand charger and all other chargers.
The tablet will not charge (or use power from) any USB port except the wall adapter. (lame Samsung... really lame...)
You can buy adapters (or make them)
There's more info for creating an adapter yourself in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845844
Just like the GT-P1000, P6200 is charging over the usb port of any pc, only when it is turned off. But anyway the charging process is much longer. Very useful when you don't heave the travel adapter with you.
i use this usb cable it work
It pulls a Max of 500mA from the USB or unknown charger. This will charge a tab plus with the screen off that isn't doing much. It will pull 1500mA from the Samsung wall charger.

My Plus charges normally from PC via USB. Icon shows 'x', but still in charging process anyway. It takes longer time but for those who tether should be ok and Plus should stay at least on the same level of %. I have unoriginal cable bought together with car charger.
I purchased a micro USB charger adapter from ebay. It just plugs into the 30 pin port and I am able to use my cell phone charger with no problem at all. The cell charger puts out 1000ma and the tab plus recognizes it. Do a search for P6200 Micro USB Charger Adapter on ebay.
If you are determined to use a computer to charge the tab plus, you will need the adapter above and a dual USB A to micro USB B Y cable. It will plug into two USB ports on the computer and give you the 1000ma to charge the tab plus. This is the best solution without having power cables all over your desk.
re
HEllo, where can I buy this cable?
thanks

Thanks

First I thought there might be some problems but this post helped me figure the cause

Type C cables that Charge Rapidly.

Hi I got a 6P a while back I'm useing my Nexus 6 charger/adaptor an I notice that when I plug a white cheap USB to type c cable to my phone it says Rapidly charging..So I ordered 2 Spigen USB 3.0 to type C cables an when I plug them into my Nexus 6 adaptor it says just Charging but seems to charge fast..I also ordered a Cheotech Faster charger that came with a USB to type C cord an when I plug it in it says just Charging if I use that cheap White type C cable with the Cheotech charger it says Rapidly Charging..Very weird..So I'm wondering even tho it says just charging is it still Rapie charging fast.My wife hooks up here S7 edge to the Cheotech an it says Rapidly Charging..

USB-A to USB-C won't fast charge your 6P. You need a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C charger capable of fast charging at 5V/3A.
I suggest you take a look at Benson Leung (engineer at Google) on Google+ or over at Amazon for an approved charger and cable.
I personnally have the Choetech USB-C charger and the USB-C to USB-C cable for travelling and it works perfectly.

It says fast charging if charging over 2A I believe. This is "fast" charging, but USB-A only goes up to 2.4A. Full USB C to USB C will allow 3A of charging speed. You shouldn't have bought that charger or cable.
Get a Type C charger and Type C to C cable. Anker makes good, stylish cables as well.

Mine only says charging at 2.4A. I only achieve fast charging at 3A. It's a 20-30 mins difference to full charge. Not a big deal.

Home and car turbocharge compatible chargers.

Let's discuss what wall and car chargers you have been able to charge the phone with.
I haven't bought it yet, but the Tronsmart 33 watt dual charger for the car looks promising: https://goo.gl/a3vada
I have a Tronsmart quick charge 3.0 home charger right now, but I don't have my phone yet. When I'm able to test it, I'll let everyone know.
Of course, if you are going to use a USB A to USB C cable, make sure it isn't a cheap one. Apparently there are reports of bad cables that may short out.
A question I have is: Can we get the full use of the Turbocharge with a USB A to USB C cable? Or do we need to go straight USB C to USB C? ANSWER, according to @tea_dub84: Possible that you will need USB C to USB C cables to achieve fastest charging.

I know it's kind of early to post this, but if anyone can post chargers for home or the car that work with the Moto Z, I'm sure that would help others out greatly.

Most definitely going to need usb c to usb c for the fastest charging. With a usb a end I believe the best amp rating we can get is 2.4a but usually around 2. To turbo charge the Moto Z and for it to recognize turbo charging you need at least 5v at 3amps (15watts). The stock turbo charger outputs 5v at 5.7 amps (28.5watts). Our phones don't follow Qualcomm quick charge standards. I believe our phones follow the usb power delivery standard for charging.
I gave up looking and went to the local Verizon store. I was having an issue that the only charger that would charge my moto mod battery, Incipio, was the supplied charger with the phone.
They had usb c chargers in stock. I tested out the home charger and it turbo charged my phone then started to charge the battery mod. Then tested the usb c car charger and it turbo charged my phone then switched to charging the mod.
So needless to say I'm satisfied.

Any chargers (home and car) online that use usb-c to usb-c cables should turbo charge the phone...
NONE of them (including the VZW) will charge as fast as the one that came in the box...but they will turbo charge

First picture is using the Verizon usb c fast charger. Not bad and it did pop up saying turbo charging.
Just to compare the second photo is using the supplied charger that came with phone. Huge difference.

Any USB C to C charger will *work*, but they won't turbo charge since Motorola doesn't use QC 2 or 3. It uses the USB C charging standard with a twist. I have tried a couple chargers, and the phone will always pop up a box telling that to enable turbocharge I need to use a turbocharge charger, etc...
The Z Force charges with a 5v at 5.7a, and many chargers won't put out that much power. I've seen a lot of 3a and 5a chargers, but few 5.7a.
If you're lucky enough to have a USB C port on a PC/Mac, it will turbo charge the phone as fast as the stock charger, provided you use a good quality C to C cable. It will also let you transfer data to the phone at insane speeds.
Verizon sells TWO car chargers that are Type-C one of them states Qualcomm QC 3.0 and the other does not but both show they are rated at 5V/3A (15 watts)
Has anyone tried one with the VZ branding? If so, which model was it? SKU #TYPECPDQC3VPC or SKU #TYPECPDVPC ?
So I ended up getting the SKU #TYPECPDQC3VPC and it works fine in turbo mode. Go with that one for the car!
I picked up the following charger from amazon with a discount from snagshout.com. Seems to work as it should, have only used it twice though.
Quick Charge 3.0 Silipower 39W car charger attached 3.3ft USB-C connector for 5V 3A charging Nexus 5X/6P, HTC 10 & other Type-C Devices, QC3.0 for LG G4/G5, Galaxy S7/S6/Edge, HTC| Qualcomm Certified
I'm Brazillian and I bought the AUKEY Car Charger mentioned on the first post on Ebay and it works with Turbo Charger. I have a Moto Z Play (XT1635-02).

I've got a Pixel charger I use at home, and a Verizon QC3/USB-PD vehicle charger
Vehicle - https://goo.gl/Pa1QWW
I bought this charger :
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Type-C-5-Port-Charger-PowerPort/dp/B01D8C6ULO/
It works perfectly on turbo power via the usb c port.
It follows a Motorola Proprietary Power Delivery, compatible with other USB Type-C Power Delivery devices up to 5V/3A max
The Verizon TYPECPDQC3VPC, TYPECPDVPC car chargers and TYPECPDQC3TVL wall charger will charge 5V/3A. (I bought mine off ebay as Verizon/Xentris non-branded for $9 each~ YMMV)
Reference https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...f_TX8/pubhtml#
I think most usb type-c PD chargers will "fast charge" up to 5V/3A, only the Motorola TubroPower 30 has the capability to do 5V/5.7A proprietary "turbo charge".. It was $20 shipped on Verizon 'til recently, that's where I bought mine.
I bought this charger for home, it's the verizon oem from xentris with the logo marked over. http://www.ebay.com/itm/351967678957

And does it turbo charge?

How can I tell if my phone is currently charging via USB 3.0 vs USB 2.0?

I am having trouble charging a Tmobile Galaxy S5. I took it in for repair yesterday and they replaced the charging port. It still barely charges using a USB 3.0 cable. It does charge slowly with a USB 2.0 cable.
I think the phone is seeing the USB 3.0 cable as a 2.0 cable.
Is there a way to tell what mode the phone is currently charging in?

Usb-type C docks and recharge

A newbie question but I need to know before buying one: is it possibile to charge the battery of a Samsung S10e via a USB type-c docking station/hub?
I don't have one to test but i don't see why it would not charge, those docks are mainly used for charging

I have an Anker 7-in-1 hub. It charges the s10e just fine - and connects it to a keyboard, mouse, HDMI monitor and memory stick.
