Hello, I have a Nexus 5 (Android Version 6.0.1) and recently I've been having problems with my Youtube app. Basically it loads slow, especially the thumbnails, comments, and the search bar. When I play the video it works well, even in 1080p.
I tried to find the answer myself using google of course, but I have found nothing relevant.
*What I have tried to fix the problem :
1. Delete App Cache-data, reinstall it.
1.1. Restart the phone
2. I have also reset my entire phone.
3. At this point you think it might be an Internet problem, (I also did), so here is what I have done : Tested the speed of wi-fi connection : above 30 mb/s every time. (I tested if the app works better when I stay very close to the router). Even if I use a 5 ghz connection, Youtube is the only app which has Problems.
***!!! Here comes the part where my mind is blown : I've tested the Youtubeapp on much weaker wi-fi connections (from my university, from train station etc ) AND THE THUMBNAILS AND COMMENTS ARE WORKING GOOD. IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!!!!!!
Why in the world this app works better on a weaker wi-fi connection??? I desperate need an answer, because mostly I use Youtube on my phone.
P.S Don't answer generic things, please answer only if you know what you're talking about.

I have been using the YouTube app since I got the phone and have been impressed. However when I used it today I notice that it is no longer producing preview pictures for the videos. To the left of the screen it used to generate a picture of the video, today however all I get is a dark grey box with a white TV symbol.
I have been playing around with the phone a lot, so thought it might have been something I'd done or installed, however I have done a hard reset and it is still happening.
Is this something to do with my phone or the YouTube service?
Anyone got any ideas?
I got the same problem. The first week it displayed the photo`s, but now ( the second week ) it wont display the pictures anymore...
my youtube just doesn't wok full stop. every time i start it, it just says '' there is no network connection right now, please try again later
any suggestions?
no connection? turn of proxyserver
I have the same problem with the preview pictures, so i guess the problem is on the youtube server side..
For the connection problem:
go to settings > connections > connections > "adjust my proxy server " or something like that. (mijn proxy server instellen in dutch)
Try turning off /removing the proxyserver there. (i had this problem with the preinstalled vodafone proxyserver. I removed it and everything works now)
i hope this works for you
Same for me, only worked for the first few days now I do not get the preview and I am not using a proxy server my connection is through wifi
I've tried reloading t-mobs settings and everytime i load youtube it still tells me that it has no network connection
i've tried having the phone using the automatic proxy setting and tried with it off (having it off is the only way that Msn will work as well, when i had it on, msn said there was no connection. so i guess it was something to do with that, however it wasn't)
should i try to reinstall youtube app? if so, where do i get the CAD?
ahhh soo annoying, really want to start hitting youtube when i have free time in class but no luck
This and the battery are the only faults i'm having with the TD2 (battery is still just as bad as the TD.
I carried out a hard reset and still found youtube previews not working.
me too ! no previews with Duttys HD 3.0 youtube player . I went back to youtube player v 1.6, without success, still no preview . Does anybody have the last version 2.5 wvga as a cab file to return back to the latest version, please ? Thank you.
hans
sorry, double post
Very strange!! it's started working again
Same here, it stopped working after a few days but just now I tried again & its working. Weird
Not so weird if it was something at Google's end that was the problem and they now fixed it. It's been reported on the HD forum to so not linked to the TD2.
Can confirm mine working too now.... thought it was something to do with T-mobile but was obviously 'booble'.
G
I have had no problems with the youtube app running at all. The thing with the pictue of the video not showing is due to it not fully loading. Bad reception I guess. Happened when I had like 2 bars.
I'm on T-mobile US so only have edge and it's worked pretty well. App works better than on my Elfin.
I also confirm it's back again today
Hey guys,
I've encountered the strangest problem that it actually took me a while to figure whats wrong.
I was simply opening the youtube app to watch a video but it didn't connect, so I tried to open youtube through opera and dolphin but it didn't connect.
I instantly thought the internet is down, however it opened facebook and other non google pages in an instance.
I thought I need to update to youtube app, since i've been putting it off for the numerious negative comments, and I was shocked to find i can't even connect to the market. (Or the market website for that matter) (applanet is working fine tho)
I seems that the phone is blocking google services and websites (which is hard to believe but i don't have a better explanation.)
Is there any thing i can do to fix this?!
I'm running rooted stock froyo (JPKC2) (the one that came with the phone, never flashed it before, rooted with super one click)
PS: this just happened overnight, i don't recall installing anything new for days and youtube and the market were working fine.

well, they are working fine from my computer and my dad's HTC Incredible S....
Are you on 3G/2G or wifi? You can try a factory reset to see if that solves your problem. Keep a backup if you need your data.
Try to change DNS

Hi guys,
I am not certainly an expert in this field but it seems like because we don't have the driver for the graphical card, the phone does not have video camera function when ICS is installed.
My question is I've realized that from watching YouTube and other streaming videos, the quality of video is really bad. Is that have anything with video support?
I'm pretty sure with the stock the quality of the video was just fine.
Thanks in advance for your comments!

The biggest issue currently is the lack of hardware video acceleration which can easily be solved my using MXplayer and having the video decoded through the software instead.
Camcorder
Camcorder force closes. Driver issues.

I'm not sure if it really matters, but what ROM are you using? I've used several ICS ROMs and never really noticed any issues with video quality on Youtube or other sites. It does seem to be slow to load at times, which may be because of the video driver issue. But quality-wise, it looks fine to me.

I must say the picture looks saturated I mean dither gradation of the colors seems not be read correctly? It definitely has nothing to do with how much time it'd take to load.the bids its the picture.that degrades its quality..
BTW I was using eagleblood latest
These are what I notice to be funky and a bother, the reasons for why they don't work might not be correct but here is what I notice...
No proper video drivers = camera is funky sometimes NO VIDEO unless you use video cam illusion only mediocre quality, some video playback to alot are not proper or functioning fully at the least. Takes longer to load things (I think, ill be surfing xda or Facebook and it loads like DSL used to load in sections, half the screen and other times by quarters, really weird.)
No REAL Hardware Acceleration, it is just a hack with missing libs or Hals or binaries a bunch of little things, this causes a mess of issues if I'm not mistaken which is a possibility (a likely one)
Other things I've noticed are that battery is usually terrible if you use the phone, not super fast at all again proper drivers are the cause of that one. Incoming calls are a pain on most roms. Wifi calling is a no go for a whole lot of people, including me. More things that are just annoyances but also make it not a daily driver for some including me, I've tested them all and always revert... just mainly the annoyances and the lack of wifi calling.

I agree with all that is said above. I had all of these problems and I always had this funky problem in which when ever I was browsing the web it would randomly decide to start flickering the screen black on the page and then not letting me see anything until I started to actively scroll and then the problem would come back. This happened to me over and over until I reverted back to GB. That and the new baseband that is a much needed improvement and is only compatible with GB right now.
I don't know how unique my problem is, but I can't use my phone for development anymore for some reason or some of the advanced Bluetooth features. Pre-ICS, all the G2x drivers installed normally from Windows Update and I could do all the various Bluetooth things, such as Bluetooth file browsing. Post-ICS, my G2x shows up as an unknown device in Bluetooth, so no more Bluetooth file browsing. Also, when I connected my phone for the first time and turned on debugging, Windows couldn't install the drivers to make it work, adb doesn't recognize it, and eclipse won't push to it. Keep in mind, this was on a computer I connected to just fine a few hours ago.
Now, at this point I was a little pissed because I can't use my phone for development, so I try another laptop that my G2x had never connected to. Plug it in, nothing. Install LG drivers, nothing. So I think that ICS somehow messed up my ability to use debugging mode, because when I disable debugging mode I don't have any "Other Devices" in Device Manager.
I've been running arcee's CM9-SK3 since he released it, the hardware acceleration is a nuisance, but my biggest complaint is the maps problem. When I'm using maps or navigating, the map will randomly blank out and maps will require a complete restart. It's quite annoying while navigating, and absolutely infuriating while searching the map for something. I can live with the battery (I have two), I can get over the lack of video (youtube HD works fine), but the maps thing is what drives me the most crazy, especially since I just moved across the country right after installing SK3.
Hey
about to pull the trigger on getting one of these for myself, just hoping to get a few questions answered before i do
how well is media control handled by the watch, is it capable of at playing or pausing media from 3rd party media apps? (i dont like the standard android or samsung offer so use an alternative)
is it capable of playing videos on the watch screen from either locally stored or internet streamed sources?
i have read a couple reviews on poor connectivity between the watch and the phone, constant dropping of the connection and if the battery drains completely it requires a factory reset to become usable again
anyone experienced anything like this or have advice around it?
if anyone who has one and is kinda enough to answer these questions for me it would be greatly appreciated
Also another question that came to mind
how functional is the mapping app for the watch?
can i look up a destination on my phone with google maps and have that information relayed on the watch?
(i ask this because i know the watch uses a different maps app and not sure how well it works with google maps)

I use the media controls with PowerAmp, Spotify and Google Play, which works very well together (play, stop, previous, next and volume).
I haven't tried viewing videos on the watch, but I've read that it too works well using a File Manager app found in the Gear app store.
When I setup the watch for the first time I had major connectivity issues, however that was corrected after a reboot of both the watch and the phone.

There's no simple way to go from google maps on the phone to the watch. You can just start with Here maps on the phone, though, which gives you the same thing. The Here-maps app works, though establishing the watch-phone connection can take a few tries. Here maps is a pretty solid navigation app on the phone, and offers free downloads of maps globally, so you're not always dependent on a data connection. When you set up the navigation on the phone, you get turn-by-turn directions on the watch, with a buzz as you approach each turn. More useful walking or biking than when driving, in my experience.
There's also a paid watch app called Gear Navigator which uses google maps data for turn-by-turn navigation. It's innovative and keeps getting updated, though in my experience a little unstable.

About connectivity: the couple of times I've drained my battery I have not needed a factory reset, and in the month and a half I've had my Gear S2 classic, most connections work most of the time. But I do wish the connections were more reliable: I have had problems, usually fixed by just turning the watch off and on (no reset), and sometimes rebooting the phone. The hardware and interface are so great, it raises some people's expectations for performance very high, and then they get disappointed by the small bugs. So if you buy, know that it works, it's cool, but it could be more reliable, and with luck might improve over time with updates.
I have found the Bluetooth connection to be very good. Much better than the LG Urbane 2nd Edition LTE. Because the BT is so good on my S2 that I never really needed to use WiFi on the S2, and because the wifi on the LG Urbane was not great and I was testing wifi on the Urbane, I did discover that I wasn't getting notifications on the S2 over wifi. I factory reset the S2, and it has been great since then. When I turn Bluetooth off on my phone. S2 goes into Standalone for 15 or so seconds and then goes into Connected Remotely and notifications and such work perfectly. When I turn BT back on on my phone, S2 goes into Standalone for a few seconds and then into Connected via Bluetooth. That's how I expect it to work.
Hello All
I have done the method to get GMS and framework onto my P40 pro. Everything works perfectly over WIFI but soon as i switch to mobile data (doest mater what type 4G/5G ect.) they just don't connect. a very few apps work mainly just Whats app is fine. but apps like Discord and more or less all others just wont connect. even some website just dont load (XDA for example) but i can search on google no problems. This is mighty odd. but as soon as i turn to WIFI everything springs back to life and is working fine.
I have tested this over 5G and was getting 220 MB/S from Ookla Speedtest app(im in the UK for speed test knowledge for anyone wondering). so there is no problems there.
On a side note i used Phone clone originally then did the GMS method to get Playstore and stop notification errors (which is all working) then i have re downloaded the apps i could from play store and others from APK Pure, mainly ones that gave the "this app isn't compatible with this device error" on playstore(Netflix for example).
If anyone has any idea what could be causing this please feel free to shed some light! I play a GPS based RPG (Orna) on my phone that i cant play when im out and about at the moment and its highly annoying! Ha
Thank you, Ben
