Title... See, my problem is that I cannot find a good Android O theme. So I am now using [MINU] White Edition which isn't perfect but better than most others. What really bothers me (and there is no ****ing way to edit themes apparently) is that it turns the lockscreen clock and writing from white into grey, which looks awful.
So I cannot change that. But I do not really need the lockscreen on the other hand... so is there any way to disable it?

yes under settings lockscreen
Yes just have screen unlock method turned to none. But when you do this the AOD will not show you any notifications as they are pushed to the lock screen

If we just could edit themes :/

Thank you. Very useful thread! I tried it and it works on my S8+.
You probably can edit the theme, just not with built in settings. I've seen plenty of threads in the past about editing themes, or creating your own. Most likely involves a PC and time. Just search for it.

And it's easy enough to turn back on when needed. I keep mine off most of the time...

But if you edit a theme on PC, without root you can only use it as a trial for 10 minutes

Did not know that. Haven't done it myself, but that's just sounds crappy. The nav bar is almost always white on my black theme so I know where ur coming from. Just sucks they limit that.

This is just a small app I made for friends - This is why it was only downloaded a few times.
Basically you just set up a message that get's shown when you unlock your phone or as a permanent notification.
Feel free to share your thoughts on this!

Nice concept. Works great but imo it's just a bit small.

Any suggestions?

Maybe an option to make the text font bigger, color select, and location on the screen. If that could be done I think it would be perfect app.

Good luck.
I like the idea. But it would be great if it could be set up to display the latest notes I took with keep or similar note or calendar apps. Just an idea.

This will be really hard to implement, but I'll try to after I added some other suggested options!
*Dont you hate when you like a theme but hate the icons!!! I will give you a simple guide to download the theme you want and keep your stock icons
~Keep your stock icons for any theme~
*ROOTED REQUIRED*
*Please read complete guide*
*Make sure you are not using the theme you are applying this to! Apply a different theme while your editing this file!
1. Using a file explorer, go to data/overlays/jsonfiles/userjson and find the theme you want to keep stock icons!
2. Open file and hit the edit button! Look for this line a little ways down:
"appicon":"com.cambunch.ThemeName.appicon",
and delete it! Save file and reboot!
3. Now you can go to theme store and apply that theme and have stock icons
***This should work for any theme in userjson file, just follow same steps and remember to save and reboot before you apply theme!!!
***JUST HIT THANKS IF YOU THINK THIS IS FRICKIN AWESOME***
Screen shots of files and before and after:
Uh oh...Get ready OP...lol

This was more for me to figure out how to keep my stock icons than the free part, i just kinda stumbled upon the free part I dont like most of them and they dont go with all your other app icons lol
You should close this thread. Not a good idea. Paid themes should be paid for. There is a lot of work developers put into their themes

It was edited out.
I was actually just using TitaniumBU to uninstall the separate parts of the theme which works great as well. But, one thing I could not do unless I use your method is get rid of the ugly skinny lockscreen font that is only found in the file path you mention. Finally I can use the blackOn theme without that ugly font as well as getting rid of settings and both input methods to have the stock looking keyboard. I haven't had anything crash on applying themes even with multiple parts of the theme uninstalled or deleted from the file so everyone wanting to modify its safe when doing these deletions.
I just noticed that using icons other then stock icons seem to stay put for me while I'm using nova launcher. Not sure if nova overrides the theme engine or what but it works flawlessly. I mainly just use the themes to get a custom notification panel and dialer since I haven't rooted since upgrading from my N4.

Download the theme, then edit, then reboot. If you apply the theme first before editing & rebooting it won't work. I've had existing downloaded themes that this didn't work for. I had to uninstall, reboot, redownload, edit, reboot, then apply & it worked fine. Works on every theme I've tried & I've tried quite a few.

I could have SWORE I rebooted the first couple times. I may be wrong. Sorry for wasting your time. I did it again. Rebooted now it's working. My mistake might have been that I probably did a hot reboot instead of a full reboot. All is well now. Thanks again!!!

@Goody68
I figured out that, in the same file where you delete the app icon line, you can't actually substitute a theme attribute with one's from another theme. For instance. Here is a screenshots of my current setup. (You should add this to the op and throw a brother a shout out!) Lol ?
Dark night - base theme
Fantasy white - icons (ios icons)
Dark sd - AccuWeather
Screenshots of the lines I changed for reference.

Thanks, works great and always because off the icons i don't like the themes, but now i do.
Hi, I downloaded a theme from the store which is near perfect for me. However some little things would need to be changed to satisfy me. Can I do this somehow? Any way to extract the theme and edit it with a software on PC?

Yeah I know what you mean. I just want to change the color of quicksettings a little bit but cannot do it. Seems like you have to be approved from Samsung to make themes, but even then I don't know how I could change another guys theme just for myself.

I know you don't I just said it as there isn't mods that I know do that so I'm suggesting you what else similar could be.
It's a year later but I still want this. Including swipe up for status bar. Not understanding the ergonomics of a status bar on the top (other than easier to see notifications).
The ergonomics is that the navigation buttons are at the bottom. It would mix with navbar...

Still would be fine just losing the navigation bar when reading notifications or using the quick settings. I don't see a fault in that at all. I mean, when would you need your navigation bar when checking notifications shade or quick settings?

Android themes are changing now a days. They have been over the last couple of years. One theme would change how home screens, settings, systemui, qs tiles, navbar etc looked. These days are advance things. Until Android gets system-wide range theming.. Here are the best Android themes.
Dark theme has many benefits:
Can reduce power usage by a significant amount
Improves visibility for users with low vision and those who are sensitive to bright light.
Makes it easier for anyone to use a device in a low-light environment.
