sd card mounting issue - hardware issue or software issue? - LG G Pro 2

hi everyone
i have a d838 16gb version, and currently i cannot mount sd card
I have taken the steps below to check and test the phone, trying to figuring out whether it is a hardware or software issue, but no conclusion can be drawn currently, so would like to seek your help
symptoms:
1. cannot detect class 10 cards but can detect class 4 cards
2. when class 4 cards are detected, a message 'sd card inserted - empty' was prompted
3. but even when class 4 card was detected, the sd card cannot be mounted:
a. in the settings, the buttons of mount sd card / erase sd card are in grey
b. after a while, when the two buttons are available, i tried to mount the sd card again but failed
c. i tried to erase the card, it prompted the card is being checked, and eventually cannot mount neither
4. I tried with another class 4 card, same results happens. All cards tested were functioning normally on other phones or on computer. Formatting on different file systems (FAT, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS) were all attempted.
5. The phone was originally on v20b lolipop when i did all of the above. Rebooting was attempted, and when the sd card is inserted, the phone stucks at the boot animation screen (still moving) when the phone is booting. The phone exits animation when the sd card is plugged out
6. Downgrading to stock v10d was attempted via flashing kdz. Above procedures were all attempted but same results obtained.
Currently I am thinking what areas / steps had I omitted... hope the experts here can help
thinking whether it is a software or hardware issue, but the contradictory finding is, class 4 cards can still be detected!
thanks for reading such a long post and sorry for poor English

SD Card Damage. Phone stuck on bootscreen

Connected my USB to my phone to do an update. Computer said there was aproblem reading my SD Card, so I unmounted and got a notification in the Notification bar stating SD Card Damage. When I clicked on it, it gave me only one option REFORMAT SD CARD....hit home went to setting, SD Card and it showed no space available, but there was still 52MB of Memory on the phone.
only option higlighted was Format SD Card. Tried plugging SD Card in my card reader and got same error. So I said screw it. I formatted the SD Card from the selection on the G1 and now when i reboot it stays stuck in the first boot screen. It won't do anything else.
I had JFv1.5 ADP A2SD on the phone.
Thinking I may have to buy a new SD Card and then a nandroid recovery.
Any other suggestions before I do that.

I had the same problem...
was sure i needed a new SD card, but i ended up downloading a sd formatting tool (i think it was from panasonics website)... and that got the card back working, no other attempts at low level formatting, re-formatting, any tries to delete partitions, nothing...
the only thing that finally worked was this SD card formatting tool...
you'll sadly probbaly need to reflash your phone, which i also had to do...
but, I did end up with the 1.5 update....

I have a samsung epic on android 2.1. I used to have the sd card damaged problem. I had to backup everyday for fear of losing information. I saw on one forum a note about upgrading to a Class 4 sd card. I went to frys and they only had class 10 in 16gb (about $40). I purchased and I have not had this problem since!!!
Problem: SD Card error
Problem Solved: Trash the Class 2 sd card that came with the phone and get class 4 or higher.
Woohoo!

sd card unable to mount

Hi all,
I recently installed wicked v9.1 rom on my T-mobile Galaxy S3. Prior to that I was running Wicked v8 and everything was fine. I have a 64gb Sandisk sd card and it was working fine until this flash. I put the card in my pc and all my files are still on there and accessible so I backed them up on my PC. Then I formatted my sd card to exfat and tried mounting in the phone again, it gives me the same problem: It says preparing sd card/checking for errors, then it just says sd card is safe to remove. I tried going into settings to mount it but it does the same thing and doesn't offer a format option. I'm not sure what the problem is here since it works perfectly fine on my PC, I even ran a chkdsk /f on it and no errors were found. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I may not have the same device as you, but I've run into the exact same problem with two of my sd cards. My phone refused to recognize my sd card, even though Windows reported it as working fine. When I looked into the storage info, I was not able to format the card as well.
I tried the non-working memory cards in a few other Android devices with similar results - they were not being read. This led me to conclude that there was something wrong with the card, or more specifically, how Android handled the sd card.
On one of my cards (Generic Brand 1GB), a simple format with MiniTool Partition Wizard fixed the problem. On the other hand, a 16GB Patriot card refused to work after multiple formats (regular and deep). I t was still under warranty though and the replacement works fine.
As a last ditch effort, look and see if your SD manufacturer offers any special formatting utilities.
Hope this helped!

[Q] Can't format,remove,write,repair micro SD card

What with this card
It's kingston 64 GB UHS-I
First time i use it just fine now i think i unplug while it format
So now it's won't accept anything
1.I have tried chkdsk
2.I have tried formatting with PC
3.I have tried formatting with my galaxy mega 2
4.I have tried manual deleting files on sd card
5.I have tried putting my files into the card
The weird thing is
I can still listen to music that it was on SD card (it was left there)
So basically i can't do anything with my card except reading it
Should i return it? Kingston have life time warranty thought

Recovering an "Adopted" SD Card?

Hi folks,
I have an SD card here that I was using for Adopted Storage but I've managed to get it stuck as an "adopted" card and can't seem to get it back functioning as a normal SD card
Long story short... I wiped the device the card was in but I didn't "unadopt" the SD card before hand - as in set it back to portable mode. While the device could recognise there was an SD card afterwards, it couldn't prepare it for use and suggested a card error or something to that effect.
I figured I'd just pop it in my laptop (Windows 10 x64) and re-format it but this didn't work. Failing this, I decided I'd "nuke" it using Minitools Partition Wizard. While this program had better luck identifying the card, could display and delete the partitions on it and could run the Wipe task - it had no effect on the card... the partitions just re-appear after any attempt to nuke them!
Has anyone any ideas about how I can restore this card back to a normal FAT formated SD card?
Just to clarify - I don't care for the data that might be on it... I just want the card back usable
Thanks
Recovering an "Adopted" SD Card?
The best solution for now would be to plug the sd card into a phone with android 6.0 so that the phone can read the card and then while setting it up,you can format the card as "normal "(the part where it asks you whether to use the card as in adaptive storage or for accessing files).

Click to collapse
When I try this, I get "Unsupported SanDisk SD card"
I'm then asked to select either Portable or Internal and then Erase & Format but neither work. They fail at 20% and the message "Unsupported SanDisk SD card" is shown again
I'm a bit stumped. I thought surely the encryption used on adopted cards was only to stop external reads. It seems in this case it's stopping me from writing to or formating the card
Running out of options

External storage (micro SD) won't mount (anymore)

I've been using my micro SD card to store all my music for as long as I've had my 6x. All of a sudden a couple of weeks back I noticed that in the music app none of my songs were to be found. Upon digging further, it became evident to me that the micro SD card was not mounting as external storage since I could not see it under "Settings --> Storage".
Some info:
1) It's a sandisk micro SD ; 64GB SDXC
2) EMUI version 5.0.4
3) Build number BLN-L24C567B376
And I've tried the following :
1) Verified that the SD card mounts without any problem on my PC - confirmed SD card was not the issue
2) Formatted the SD card in both "quick format" and "not quick format" options - didn't solve the problem
3) Reset the phone to factory settings - didn't solve the problem
What is interesting to note is that my phone underwent a software update right about the time when the SD card mounting issue cropped up. But I don't know that for sure and it could be just a coincidence.
Any help / suggestions or sharing of experience with this issue would be appreciated.
Did you try to check in a 3RD Party File Explorer.
