File recovery options, nand dump , etc ..... - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note5

Long story short.... a friend factory reset his phone on accident.... yes you ask how..... phone holder pressed correct buttons to get into recovery, he grabbed phone , pressed home button on accident ... and that's that .
phone is running the new Nougat release.
Anyway, I know most of his pics should still be on the phone buried in the memory somewhere since nothing new has been written to the phone, is there ANY way to run some kind of file recovery utility , or get the phone in a state where the memory can be dumped etc. I've spent hours looking and I don't see much on JTAG or any way to get direct access to the memory.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nope!! They're gone! A factory reset does just that, resets and deletes everything and in all my time being here I've never seen anyone post a way to do that.. But I bet the FBI can do it lol.. Did he have a backup account set up? Because that could help which is why I always back my phone up to my wireless storage hard drive!

There are some apps in the market that will recover. I had to use it last year to recover a naked picture my friend girl took in my phone then deleted it before she gave it back lmao. Worked great too. Just remember don't put any new files or use camera before you restore

power+vol down _should_ take you to the SPL/bootloader/rainbow screen and can reflash against that no worries, or put the NBH file in the root of any fat32 SDcard and do similar, releasing power when 'loading' appears, and can flash straight from the sdcard
Thank you very much iv done it now! It has been restored! i knew there must be a way to do it! I have read where to and how to do it with the tool for flashing called odin it was very easy!

[Q] Used wrong Lock-Pattern, now phone is locked. No method tried works for unlocking

Hey guys how's it going?
Story:
My little cousin borrowed her old HTC Desire S to a friend.
This said friend, might have changed the Google Account and activated a Lock screen-Pattern, although she claims "I didn't change anything".
She claims, her sister tried to access the Phone while she was in school but couldn't, because of the Pattern Lock, so it locked up.
My little Cousin had a similar problem before (she knew her pattern but somehow it didn't recognize it and locked it. I unlocked it with the Android Device manager, since it didn't work with her Google Account).
She hasn't put a new Lock screen-Security Pattern/PIN/Password since then.
What I did so far:
tried putting in the Google Account Information of my Cousin
tried it with the Android Device Manager, but it couldn't even find the phone
tried entering the Recovery to perform a factory reset, but it just boots up normally
tried gaining information on How-to re-flash stock firmware but all I've found, required you to get into "HBoot" for relevant Information (which I can't access somehow)
So, is there anything I can try to regain access to the Phone, I don't already have?
It would most likely be a back-up phone, so, if it's lost, it's nothing too bad but, I mean, it cost quite some back in the day...So yeah, would be cool if you guys have a solution!
Thank you in advance for reading this post and thinking about/providing a solution!
MstrBubbles
EDIT: I forgot to mention, that my PC doesn't even recognise the Phone properly. It finds a removable Drive but it says "Put in a storage Device in the removable drive(H)" and if I want to save disconnect the device, there is only ". . ." listed and it doesn't do anything. I assume it is in "Charge-Only mode" or something.
Oh and it's connected to my Wi-Fi but it wont install apps (through Play Store in my PC Browser), since I tried one of those "remove Lock-screen" apps.
Pull the battery out for 15 seconds then put back in then press and hold volume down + power button. That should get u into bootloader and there u can try factory reset or if all fails try a ruu.

Help! S7 Now Asking for Startup Password

Hi All,
Apologies for in advance for what may be a long post but I want to give as much information as possible in case anyone might be able to help.
So about 3 years ago I purchased a Samsung S7 (GM-G930f) from a phone shop. The device was rooted. This hadn't really caused any issues until today. The phone was overheating and losing it's charge very quickly. I downloaded Malwarebytes & AVG separately and did a scan with both.
One of them suggested turning off developer mode and a setting in it due to a security issue. (An OEM setting I think)
So I turned this off. A short while later the battery died. When I went to charge and turn the phone back on I got a message saying 'Custom binary locked by FAP Lock'.
After a bit of researching it seemed I had to reflash the firmware to the device. I got the most recent version from Sammobile and installed it using Odin. I used the "Home CSC" file in an effort to retain the data on the phone.
So that all seemed to work but the phone is now asking for a password- "Your phone is encrypted for security. To start up your device enter your password"
We have no clue what this password is- have tried the google account password and the samsung account password but no luck. I also logged on to the Find My Phone section on Samsung which was suggested on a couple of websites, however the device needs to be connected to a network before this service is of any use.
Is there any way at all I can retrieve the data from the phone without having to perform a factory reset? I am by no means a developer but am tech savvy and can follow clear instructions. There are recent photographs of immense sentimental value on the phone.
Also I am not some thief trying to hack into a phone. It is my partners phone and she has had it for 3 years.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated

Type (default_password) without brackets obviously, if it doesn't work root the phone with Odin and see if it's starts normally.
Also do you know if you changed photo storage to sd card? If so you can remove it and see what's pics are stored there under folder DCIM. A firmware restore does nothing to the sd card.

hey- thanks for getting back to me. Yeah I've checked the sd card already- unfortunately it was saving to the phone it seems! Just tried that password and no luck.
Will rooting the phone with Odin wipe the data? I'll have to look up how to do it so I don't mess it up!
Thanks again

No rooting won't wipe. Use cf auto root

Any chances of data recovery? (Galaxy S7)

Hi guys, I'm new to the community here.
I've been using a Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930W8) for the past four years that I bought second hand. It had this issue where it would get stuck and force reboot while playing videos. I tried looking up the issue, but there seemed to be no one else having this issue so in the moment I just kind of gave up and learned to live with it. However, for the past week or so, the problem got really bad. It had started freezing up while doing even regular stuff like browsing the settings app or tapping on a notification. If I left it, it would either force restart itself, or I'd do it myself by pressing Volume Down + Power Button.
I had planned on making a backup on Sunday Night, but just my luck, the phone just sorta gave up and died in the evening. It crashed during a video call, and it just kept rebooting, getting stuck on lock screen, and rebooting again. It did this a few times before going completely unresponsive. No power button, no Power + Volume up + Home, no Power + Volume Down, nothing would work. After a few hours, I tried connecting it to my Laptop, and at first it wouldn't even respond there, so I left it.
In the morning, I tried plugging it in to the laptop one last time and lo and behold, as soon as I connect, the Samsung Galaxy S7 logo shows up. However, the phone keeps going to "Installing System Update" Screen, end up at "No Command", and shutting down. The only thing I can do at this point is take it into download mode, and exit download mode. Nothing else seems to be working.
I got most of the data off of my SD Card, but when I took it to the local electronics store, they told me the only thing they could do was Flash the software and reset the whole thing, and even that was not a guarantee that it would turn back on, and that my data would be lost. They said if I wanted to access my data, I'd have to go to a professional data recovery service and pay several hundred euros.
I've been doing some research online and it seems that it is very much possible to flash new firmware onto the device without deleting all the data on it. I just need the phone to turn on once to the point where I can unlock the screen so I can copy the data off of it. Does anyone know if this would be possible, or if trying to flash it would work? I'd really appreciate any guidance and help. As a student, I cannot afford to drop 5-600 euros on data recovery on top of buying a new phone. If there's any way to access and copy the data into a PC without turning on the phone, that would work absolutely fine as well. Like I said, I do not need the phone anymore, but I would really really like to be able to get the data still on it.
I will ask my cousin he is an android pro engineer.

Hi booyakiller01, phone is recognized when connected to PC in Download mode ?
OP, sorry to hear that.
Data loss it something that happens to everyone, eventually.
Use the SD card as your data drive; put or backup all critical data here except for the Downloads folder (to create a security buffer).
Use ApkExport to backup up all your loaded apps and updates for a faster reload.
Backup any apps that allow it as well.

Hi @djibe89
The PC recognizes that there is a device connected but is unable to access the data or anything on the device. I tried flashing a new ROM, but I think I didn't have USB debugging enabled before it crashed, which is why that didn't work.

Hi @blackhawk
I'm a little confused, were you offering me advice for the future, or trying to suggest it as something I could try at the moment? In case I wasn't clear, the device is not able to boot into anything other than download mode, so I can't really do any of that. And my current replacement doesn't have an SD card slot so
The future. Now you know why I always have a SD card slot ie data drive.
Even adding a data drive to my Dell e6400.
They have saved me a lot of time and trouble more than once.
Hopefully someone here will figure out a way to help you recover your data
Hi @booyakiller01, by download mode I mean, what happens when you power on phone by holding Home + Power + Volume- and release buttons when screen is on ?

Yeah play with it.
My 10+ got into a boot loop twice by a badly coded launcher. When around in circle a couple times but finally got it to load in safe mode. Recovered some stuff and reloaded.
You may be able to get it to boot into safe mode...

if its stuck on DL mode you can reflash the FW in Odin using the HOME_CSC which wont wipe your data. If it still refuses to boot and debugging isnt on, then its beyond my knowledge level of how to approach. also, sd to usb readers are stupid cheap
