Enable native tethering/hotspot? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Is there a way to bypass the entitlement check for native hotspot like on other phones? I've tried the Honor 5X method and it didn't work. My AT&T SIM still restricts me based on entitlement check. I know I can download apps on Google Play but I like to use the native hotspot.

i have the chinese version and I'm able to use the native hotspot with TMO without any issues,

[REQ] Modify Skype Mobile for Verizon to work on any other Android phone

Hello,
is it in any way possible to do that? When I install the .apk file, it always "Skype mobile is only for Verizon Wireless user". Does any developer know how to avoid this?
link for the .apk file: http://www.sendspace.com/file/rnwab1
peace
If I understand how the app works correctly, it doesn't use VOIP for the calls but instead just dials an internal Verizon number. Since the app isn't really doing Skype over the data network, it wouldn't work on other networks even if you did manage to install it.
We are going to have to hope that Skype get their act together and release a real VOIP client like the iPhone one at some point
really?
i checked engadget says that it uses data only~
no actually dailing using the air minutes
For me its saying "Skype mobile can only be used on Verzion Wireless Phones."
may be it makes some check in verzion IMEI Database, or just digg out the carrier info on the phone - where market enabler make changes to see paid apps in countries where isn't available
if market enabler can help , let someone check out the info from verzion and enter it on market enabler to see what will happen
The app called "fring" can make Skype calls over 3G.
Nimbuzz is also in market. nimbuzz can make voip calls through 3g and skype as well.
sound quality is really better when you use WiFi.
Does this version of Skype Mobile properly handle group chat?
This is like the sprint apps that would only work on the sprint network(AKA Sprint Hero), people got them to work on other phones by spoffing the phone and what ever other things they did

[Q] Remove AT&T Hotspot restriction from Atrix 2?

Sorry if this has already been posted, though does anyone know how to remove the AT&T Hotspot restriction from the Atrix 2? Is there a ROM out there without this restriction, or is there a tool to remove it? I am wanting to use the device internationally, and this is a very important feature.
I have already tried looking in Titanium Backup, and cannot find 'AT&T Mobile Hotspots' or 'Tethering Mangager' in the apps list.
Yes it can be done. Instructions can be found here:

[APP][4.1+] Tetrd - USB Tethering & Reverse Tethering (NoRoot)

Hi guys! I made a USB tethering and reverse tethering app that doesn't require root. It also doesn't require you to enable USB debugging (except on Windows, I'll try to fix that on a future release). It uses USB accessory mode which can make it faster than apps that uses ADB.
Tethering
This allows you to share your device's wifi or mobile internet connection with your PC. You can use this if your carrier or data plan doesn't allow you to enable the built-in tethering feature of your device. Or if you have unlimited data plan, but your carrier caps your hotspot/tethering usage to a certain amount, say 7GB.
Reverse Tethering
This feature allows you to share your PC's internet connection with your device. I use this to reduce lag when playing online games since my room has an unstable wifi signal and my PC is already connected to the internet via an ethernet cable. You can also use this if you're in a place where your PC has access to wired internet and there's no wifi available.
Note: Some apps only check for wifi or cellular connectivity, thus will not work when reverse tethering.
Network
When tethering or reverse tethering, your PC along with all connected devices will be in the same network. This means a device can communicate with your PC and other connected devices. This is useful if you want to transfer files from one device to another or if you want to access a server (e.g. HTTP server) on your PC from your device.
Note: ICMP is currently not supported so the ping command will not work when tethering or reverse tethering.
Additional Features
• No root required
• No USB debugging required (except on Windows)
• Fast link speed (200Mbps+ on some devices)
• IPv6 support (may not work on some devices)
• Up to five devices can be connected
• Configurable network settings
GOOGLE PLAY LINK
The app also requires a server application to be installed on your computer. You can download it from the following links.

Thank you soooo much
tested and found working well on win 10 and my pie android.
App is working very well.
Win 10 tethered to andeoid pie
Kudos to developer for such great app.
I cannot afford any of tethering options as they are expensive for me. Maybe the exchange rate caused the hike (for INR conversion)
Just wanted to thank the developer and let him know that his app works great.
Regards
Ashish
This is great! Thanks for your hard work. It works on my primary device, but I have an old secondary device with broken Wi-Fi that I pretty much just use as an alarm clock. I'd like to update some apps on that device through Tetrd, but unfortunately I can't reverse tether until I log into my Google account... which I can't do until I'm somehow able to reverse tether. Any chance users could be authorized as free without any need to log in?

It should allow you to sign in even without wifi. Are there any errors when you sign in? Can you give me the Android version and Google Play services version of your old device?

I'm on Google Play services version is 14.8.48 with Android 4.4.2. But I think the reason why I am unable to sign in is that I simply don't have Internet access at all on the old device: no WiFi, and without a micro-SIM card to use, no mobile data either. There are other tethering solutions which seem like they might work on Android 5.0+, but unfortunately I can't even update to a new custom ROM with the WiFi broken: system UI crashes as soon as any new ROM loads up and then it just boot loops. I'm stuck. I might just have to bite the bullet and buy a micro SIM or an Ethernet OTG adapter.

I just tested this, and you're right. I wasn't able to sign in on Android 4.4.2 up to 5.0.2 (5.1.1+ works fine) when reverse tethering without wifi or mobile data connection. It seems Google Play services only checks for wifi or mobile data connection when determining internet connectivity on those versions. Because of this, some Google apps will not work or some of their features won't work. For example, Google Play Store won't download apps or app updates, and YouTube's search feature won't work. If you only need to update some apps, you can just download their apks and sideload them to your device.
does it work with Synology router ?
Does it support Windows 32-bit OS?

Currently, the app only supports computers running Windows, macOS, and Linux. Hopefully, routers with OpenWRT will be supported in the future.

Call recording and Ad Blocking

Hello,
I'm about to buy this phone and wanted to ask if there are ways to get a call recorder and an ad blocker on Android 11 without rooting?
I used to root all my devices but it seems like perhaps I shouldn't root this phone.
Thanks!

Your only option would be what ever the play store offers.

Call recording is legally restricted depending on the country you live in.
As for adblocking, AdAway has a non-root method. Although I am rooted, I am actually using the non-root method in AdAway.
Oh, I didn't know adaway has that, I'll check it out. I thought I would be able to use DNS based blockers only.
As to legal restrictions, it's fine for me, but I was wondering if there are non root methods for recording on Android 11, as I'm currently rooted on Android 9 (on a different phone).

Question Any mod/way to enable geo-change on the free VPN?

Hi, as you know, the P7 series comes with free VPN by Google One for 5 years.
And like most VPNs by big brands (Apple, Microsoft, Google), it doesn't allow manually switching the geolocation of the end server.
Is there a known way to do this for G1 VPN?
Ideal: modded G1 APK that doesn't require root.
Though I suspect rooting will be required , and isn't a problem for me.
How were you able to find the VPN settings? Couldn't find it in my P7pro settings
It says 'coming soon'. When it does arrive, I suspect it'll be via the Google One app, not Settings.
