Question for S8 owners on AT&T - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Can someone with the AT&T S8 let me know if AT&T has locked their preloaded bookmarks in the stock web browser so that they cannot be removed?
Also, can the preloaded AT&T related contact entries be completely deleted from the address book or are they locked?

The bookmarks are locked in stock browser. 2nd question I don't know what you mean.

Use Chrome Problem solved.
Or use Package Disabler Pro to disable "com.android.providers.partnerbookmarks" and you should be good to go.

The forced bookmarks show up in Chrome also.
But I did your trick of disabling "com.android.providers.partnerbookmarks" and that worked in Chrome, thanks!

I have always used chrome and the google search bar. A non issue for me. This way it interfaces with my pc.

stock browser won't let me delete gmail emails

I tried searching for this problem on Google, but the only solution I came across was either by browsing gmail in classic or desktop mode on stock browser. I can't seem to delete a gmail email in mobile version. when I press the trash icon to delete an email, the icon turns blue to indicate that it has been pressed, but then it doesnt reload the page or delete anything. it just hangs..
since I am a frequent gmail user, I use dolphin browser instead, which works fine, but I still want to know what's causing the problem with stock browser. btw I don't use gmail app. my issue here is accessing gmail on stock browser.
thanks in advance!
edit: I am on stock btw.
am I the only one with this glitch? plz help
I dont have that issue but then again i use k9 email app. When i have used gmail via a browser on the phone i use chrome and dont have a issue

The app is far easier, I've found.
Nonetheless, I tested the stock browser and it does not actually delete any gmail items that I select when in mobile browsing mode. Works fine in Opera, though. I use Opera because it acts more in line with my expectations from a UI standpoint and rewraps text on zoom.
So, it's a stock browser bug, I'd think.

alright. thanks for clearing that up. I can't believe how Google's android stock browser has such glitch with gmail, which is also Google.
this is practically the main reason why I'm using dolphin instead. hope it gets fixed eventually.

I think google doesn't want us to deleted emails. Have you ever tried deleting your
email from the gmail website after not doing it fora few months? OMG! ITS crazy. First you can only do it 10 at a time and there may have hundreds or more, and each 10 take several clicks it can take hundreds of clicks! But if that's not bad enough if you want to completely delete them you have to do it all over again to delete them from the history and again from the trash.
Any reason you choose to use the browser over the app?

Chrome Bookmarks

I'm getting frustrated with the way Chrome bookmarks are set up. Can anyone tell me how to make something a bookmark on my mobile and desktop bookmarks simultaneously? Whenever I add it to one group, it removes it from the other. I currently found a compromise by having my mobile version show the desktop bookmarks, but most of them are sites I do not access on any device other than my laptop. This is a very poor design, so I'm sure someone has figured out a workaround by now.
Try an app called "cmarks" to sync chrome bookmark both way
hope this helps.

I have a similar issue, I use bookmarks, not some mobile and some desktop bookmarks. I access all my websites on both my phone, tablet and pc.
I would like my phone and tablet to stop showing me the Mobile Bookmarks as default and instead show me the Desktop Bookmarks, because I keep and manage all my bookmarks on my desktop only. Not having to manage multiple sets of bookmarks is why I sync in the first place .
Now, I might be daft since I have not figured this out by myself, but Google has not been much help to me either.
Anyone got at tip? I run Stock JB 4.1.2 with latest Chrome browser on Samsung Galaxy S2. My tablet is an ipad with Chrome browser.
Thanks!

[Q] Samsung email app apk

Hi, is it possible for someone to package up the Samsung email app into an apk and then install it on a different branded device, in my case a OnePlus? I need to use MobileIron to get my corporate emails on my phone but MobileIron only supports Samsung's email app or otherwise I have to use Touchdown. Touchdown might be the worst email app ever invented. I'm hoping someone can help me install the Samsung email app on my phone. I don't need root or anything like that. I don't mind MobileIron, I just mind using Touchdown. Thanks.
Samsung apps require Samsung's TW framework to be in place for the app to work. That is why no one has ever gotten Samsung apps to work on AOSP ROMS--the dependencies just aren't there. I'm sorry but you'll have to install another mail client.

Thanks for the quick reply. Apparently the email apps from HTC and Motorola will also work. Would these have the same issue or any chance those could be used?
There are absolutely NO other email clients in the Play store that work for you? I find that hard to believe. I'm not saying you are lying, but I just find it difficult to believe Samsung email offers something that no other software developer has duplicated (besides Touchdown).

It's a limitation of MobileIron which is one of those device management programs. They limit which email apps work.

Hide stock E-mail app?

Hey guys, I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 active running on 5.1.1. I was wondering if there was any way at all possible to hide the stock E-mail app from being seer, removing it or disabling it in any way. I have both yahoo mail and gmail downloaded via separate apps, so I'd like to remove from view the stock app. Also, does anybody know if ping pong root would work with my phone? Thanks!

You cannot remove the stock app. Is this the only reason you want to root your phone? I wouldnt bother if this is the only problem.
FYI, the stock email app is better than the yahoo app

i agree, if the stock email app allowed for push of yahoo mail, i would use it solely.

Ah, I did not realise that. I manage to get push with bt mail (which is hosted by yahoo) so I thought you would get the same.

Package disabler pro might solve your problem.
Search at playstore. You might want to check it. It can be used without root.
If and when you root your phone the best app to disable system apps is Titanium Backup. You must root in order to use Titanium.

In still iffy on whether the ping pong root would work on my s6 active. I've gotten no definitive answer

I have a few gms /google apps questions

I just need to find out these
1. Chrome working with full bookmark syncing?
2. The Google app with your news feed works?
3. I don't care about Google voice assistant but is it easy to disable huawei one?

Chrome browser works, but starts with a nagging feed (your news feed) instead of a plain screen. Offers sync with my regular Google account - I didn't try because I just don't want any sync, but it's quite likely to work.
2. The Google app with your news feed works?

Yep. But does not react on "Hey Google"/"OK Google" in standby mode.

Yes, no problem switching to e. g. Google VA. Also possible to link Google VA to shortcut keys/gestures of headsets like Huawei's Freebuds 3.
Thanks... All my bookmark are on chrome and I need it to sync... This includes all my passwords

change to firefox .. it is actually very nice with the tabs and tab switching .. and bookmarks etc .. better than chrome.
gradually update passwords and save to firefox account . you can read passwords in the chrome browser on a PC or linux.

IMHO .. it is one of the worst .. i seem to be a heavy tab switcher and the huawei browser was terrible with tab switching .. i disabled the app (unfortunately could not uninstall).
