Hey guys, I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 active running on 5.1.1. I was wondering if there was any way at all possible to hide the stock E-mail app from being seer, removing it or disabling it in any way. I have both yahoo mail and gmail downloaded via separate apps, so I'd like to remove from view the stock app. Also, does anybody know if ping pong root would work with my phone? Thanks!

You cannot remove the stock app. Is this the only reason you want to root your phone? I wouldnt bother if this is the only problem.
FYI, the stock email app is better than the yahoo app

i agree, if the stock email app allowed for push of yahoo mail, i would use it solely.

Ah, I did not realise that. I manage to get push with bt mail (which is hosted by yahoo) so I thought you would get the same.

Package disabler pro might solve your problem.
Search at playstore. You might want to check it. It can be used without root.
If and when you root your phone the best app to disable system apps is Titanium Backup. You must root in order to use Titanium.

In still iffy on whether the ping pong root would work on my s6 active. I've gotten no definitive answer

Hi, I updated my One S to jelly bean. Before (under Gingerbread) I had disabled my mail app so I could use each company's third party app (Outlook, Gmail, etc.). Now, I need to set up an exchange email (microsoft) but can't open the mail app. Is there a way I can re-enable it? Or is there another way I can get exchange email to my phone w/o using the mail app? Thanks!

Are you sure that that you got One S with Ginger Bread.
Do you tried to add mail account in Settings.
Without adding Gmail account how you access PlayStore.
One s was never delivered with gingerbread.
It came out of factory with ice cream sandwich.

Yeah sorry guys, totally mixed it up. i meant ICS. I meant that I cant get into the stock mail app. I can add accounts via settings and I downloaded the gmail app but i previously disabled the stock mail app (under ICS). When I upgraded to JB, it stayed disabled, but there is no enable button like in other apps.
You need to go under settings then applications and under all you can hit mail and will allow you to enable there if that is what mean.
You can't just add the account to get it back.
I realize that. But when I go into manage apps, there is no enable button..see attachment. Any thoughts?
That is weird.
Must have gotten corrupted during the update.
Being there is no option there at all you are probably going to have to master reset the phone.
Great, thanks! Could you briefly show me the steps to that?
No problem,
This should help

Yes it does. Just download the files to your phone, rename the current files in System/app to Email.apk.bak and Exchange2.apk.bak. Copy these new files to System/app and rename them to Email.apk and Exchange2.apk, then set permissions to 644 or rw-r-r. Then reboot. Solid Explorer works great for doing all of this directly on the phone.
For some reason now when I go to add account, there are 3 options for Corporate, but they all do the same thing. Other than that it works like a champ with security disabled. I tried the Xposed modules but couldn't get any of them to work, this worked first try.
Weird. I tried that exactly and couldn't get it to work. The email app didn't show up. I'll give it another shot.
Edit. Tried it again and it still didn't work. Not sure why.
I'll give it a try!

Anyone else with VZW that was able to get this working? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Edit: I'm an idiot and had the permissions wrong. Too much turkey apparently.
FYI Exposed Module "Exchange Bypass for Xposed [1.6]" works on MotoX 4.4.2
Try Enhanced Email instead of stock mail app.. it has saved my life: company mail/ calendar sync with native(!!) agenda -w/o the pain of company policy restrictions..
Mail wise also works with built in exchange security bypass. But it's in beta. Who knows how much they'll charge for it when beta ends and if the exchange bypass will remain.

Personally: I stick with Enhanced Email, because it provides beside company policy bypass also integration of exchange calendar with my native calendar app on my Android.. As my secretary puts all my appointments in my exchange agenda, for me a very convenient way to see all my private and work appointments on one place..

I tried the Exchange Security Bypass for Nexus devices & AOSP by shantzg001... doesn't work. I think.
It still says device admin still require a PIN. I can, of course, go to device admin and disable Email there, but that beats the purpose, no?
Bottomline: how exactly do I run this module? lol

I think Aqua Mail is the one to go for. I use it for my gmail and outlook accounts. You can even download Development builds on their forum. It has a pleasant interface and a lot of options.
i just use the gmail app , no complaints here. Guess it all depends on what you want in the app.
I am using cloudmagic for company exchange account. Works great for me.

cheers guys ill go through them and c which is the one for me..
Cloudmagic (free and perfect for exchange accounts, but a little "dangerous" about privacy) or Aquamail (very good but free version is limited to 2 accounts and adds app infos in each outgoing mail sign and paid version is expensive for me, about 4 euros).
AquaMail but has no threaded messaging, some like that feature, I don't.
SolMail is good too.
Mailwise too.

Have you ever tried MailWise Beta? It allows you to bypass the exchange security lock if that is something you are interested in or if you company policy enforces that. I think it has a nice interface as well. I guess it all depends on user preference.
I'm still stuck with samsung email for my exchange account n I think it's a pretty decent one.. I've tried Aqua and K9 but didn't really like the user interface of both

I am running an Xposed module that allows me to turn it off. I am also using Wanam Xposed that has the option in it as well.
Edit:
If that doesn't work for you, you could always try MailWise Beta. They have an option to turn that off as well with a code. Download the app, before setting up your account, open the app, hit the menu button, click on exchange bypass and follow the instructions.
What's the name of that xposed module?

Hi, is it possible for someone to package up the Samsung email app into an apk and then install it on a different branded device, in my case a OnePlus? I need to use MobileIron to get my corporate emails on my phone but MobileIron only supports Samsung's email app or otherwise I have to use Touchdown. Touchdown might be the worst email app ever invented. I'm hoping someone can help me install the Samsung email app on my phone. I don't need root or anything like that. I don't mind MobileIron, I just mind using Touchdown. Thanks.
Samsung apps require Samsung's TW framework to be in place for the app to work. That is why no one has ever gotten Samsung apps to work on AOSP ROMS--the dependencies just aren't there. I'm sorry but you'll have to install another mail client.

Thanks for the quick reply. Apparently the email apps from HTC and Motorola will also work. Would these have the same issue or any chance those could be used?
There are absolutely NO other email clients in the Play store that work for you? I find that hard to believe. I'm not saying you are lying, but I just find it difficult to believe Samsung email offers something that no other software developer has duplicated (besides Touchdown).

It's a limitation of MobileIron which is one of those device management programs. They limit which email apps work.
For some reason I don't have it on my watch. Want there supposed to be an app for messages? I'm on the Wi-Fi version paired with the Google Pixel XL.

I believe you need a samsung phone to have the messages and email apps on the watch. It's one of the limited functions of using the Gear S3 with a non samsung phone.
You can use other messaging apps like Textra, they just don't fully work the same. You will get messages though.

Textra seems to be an s2 app. I cant find any messaging apps for s3.
Well it's not going to install on the watch either way. However Textra does work. Download it on your phone and enable notifications in Gear Manager. I know it works as I have used it. However unless you use stock Samsung apps you don't get full use of the app. It's the same thing I'm dealing with for emails. I hate the stock app, but can't fully use a substitute because that is how Samsung has designed the system to be.

Ahhh I see. Yes, have found that gmail allows notifications to be replied to and read whereas the android mail app only allows a short preview/header of emails with no reply option.
Try Bluemail email app. Shows full email. They're quick to respond and the phone app is very customizeable and full featured as any email app.
Aqua Mail also has a setting for Smart Watch Enhancement which includes Gear.

Is it possible to trick the samsung default messaging app to show all your texts and let the watch show you messages while in reality I would actually be using textra as the default app?
same boat here... using the new galaxy watch with pixel 2 XL. would love to get a messaging app on the watch.
