Hi everyone.
Today I have a brand-new issue with titanium (and even other backup apps, coz I tried).
ROM B360, rooted, BusyBox installed.
Till yesterday I could restore and backup apps.
This morning, I don't know why, titanium is opening normally but restoring app is impossible. The process starts and it gets stuck on the restoring window. I have to force stop the app.
If I back up something, it says ok, but the size of the app inside the backup folder is very small, as if it was not properly backed up.
I tried both with the internal storage and the ext card backup folder, just to see if the problem was the SD card. Same issue. (I fixed the permissions to write even in ext card and it worked till yesterday...)
Anyone with a possible solution?

Waiting some dev or a geek to help me...
[emoji16] [emoji16] [emoji16]
For example if I try to uninstall from titanium, it says that the app is uninstalled but it is still visible on the drawer app and on the launcher.
if I use then the built-in uninstaller, it says that this icon is part of the app package. If I press the icon it doesn't open the app anyway, so it seems that the uninstalling process works at half...
Doing this did not help: https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...y-latest-google-play-services-update-0176552/
I noticed that USB debugging option is not staying on on my device.
For some strange reason, it always turns off. This could be the bloody issue...
Any help?
I read something about CDC serial googling...

Unfortunately the forum on this phone is quite desert... Very few replies compared to samsung phones...
What a pity...

Greetings people!
Yesterday I got this message while booting up my TP (latest official ROM):
"The device is unable to boot because either you have turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an application from untrusted source. Press END to reset your device or press any other button to cancel. This operation will delete all your personal data and restore the device to its factory default settings"
However apart from that message, phone works flawlessly without any noticable change in speed or stability! The only apparent problem is that it takes a while longer (about 10 seconds) to boot up because of that message. I tried a couple of backups, problem was solved at first, but returned later...
I do take daily backups, but since I hardly monitor my phone when I reset it, this problem could have been caused by an app or reg entry a while ago... and searching for the appropriate backup will be a pain in the ass.
Since there's no change in speed or stability, do you think it would be wise to keep using the phone as is, or is it possible this would cause further problems down the road?
Any other way to troubleshoot it (at least to find the program that's causing this) other than a hard reset?
Edit: couldn't wait so I reverted to a week-old backup, installed back most of my applications, and it seems to be fixed (for now)
Update! I just tried a new SD to try XDAndroid, and guess what, the error disappeared!
So there must be a program I had installed in the storage card, possibly trying to start a service or something on every reset... and failing.
Is there a way to troubleshoot this? Maybe through SKTools or anything similar? I have a ton of apps installed into storage card and it will be a pain in the back cover to try by trial-and-error.
Thank you in advance
edit: inserted my old storage card again, error did not appear, problem solved! At least for now
Still if anyone knows how to troubleshoot this, please let me know
Update: Seems this error occurs every time I use SPB backup.
Yesterday, after a scheduled backup, the error came back. To troubleshoot this, I removed the SD card, did a soft reset, the error was gone! I took another manual backup, and again, the error came back.
So there must be something happening with SPB Backup and my SD card. Probably messing with files on the SD, or the driver or whatever (no idea there, I'm a total noob when it comes to software).
Moved the issue to the SPB forum
I have this message to, but I have never used SPB Backup
Well, in my case, it was obviously something tampering with the SD card (even if not SPB backup, something else)
Have you tried rebooting your phone with the SD card taken off? I just wait till it boots normally, and then insert it back. Works for me every time.
If that still happens, that probably means whatever is causing the problem is in your main memory.

Well I tried that just to see what would happen and I did not get the error message. So it is something on the SD card, but booting without it is not an option for me as I have several boot-start apps that are housed on it.
Perhaps one of those apps is broken?
As far as my case goes, I kept on using it for three months after the error appeared, without noticing any lag or issues at all. The only downside was that it took me three minutes to boot up, something I got used to.
If that's no big deal for you, I'd suggest you just leave it as it is for now, and check for lagging or specific applications failing (maybe one of them will be the app that's causing the problem?). If nothing happens down the road I think it could be safe to leave it as it is.
Now, if you can't stand this, I guess the only practical solution would be a hard reset. You can always play around with removing/reinstalling those apps you mention (or even better, installing them in the phone's memory) to check if and which one is broken, but I can understand that this not only will be a huge burden, but you may come to the conclusion that no specific app is causing this and something went south in the OS.
Personally the only apps which include a boot-up service I have installed into my SD are Football Monitor and PocketWeather. I tried removing both of them them back when I first had that issue, it didn't work...
Sorry I couldn't help more :/

Hey there everyone. I have a My Touch Q LG-C800. I believe that I might have bricked my phone but I was on a couple different web sites stating that if you can still factory reset your android phone you should be alright.
So let me explain how it happened.. First I rooted my My Touch Q, everything was running perfectly then I thought I wanted to do more since I thought woah! rooting was so easy and I used "SuperOneClickv2.3.3" to root my phone, so it was really easy.. lol but ya then I started to use "Titanium Backup" since I really hated having all those other stocked apps on your phone, figured it could help boost the speed of my slowww My Touch Q. Opened up Titanium Backup and went to the system apps, I first stored the apps that I thought I still might need to my micro sd card, then after finished backing up those apps, I then uninstalled the apps that I found was unneeded. After I finished backing up and uninstalling all the unneeded apps I figured that hey! I backed everything up and I should be perfectly fine to do anything else now!! So I went to the market (Play) and downloaded "Rom manager"..
So then I downloaded rom manager and it had and option to find a rom online and I chose the rom with the most download cause I thought it should be the best choice to make. I click on it and I forgot what it was called (I connected my phone to my laptop and am able to get the phone into usb storage mode, microsdcard/clockworkmod/download/download.cyanogenmod.com/get/update-cm-7.1.0-Z71-signed.zip and microsdcard/clockworkmod/download/download2.clockworkmod.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip-- I'm not too sure what this means but it could be of help). then after clicking on the rom to download it then gave me a lists of versions to download I of course chose the stable version. (sucks that I can't remember what rom I actually download..) after I downloaded it it told me to back up my rom.. so I thought it'd back up everything from the phone. (I know I should have done my research before proceeding..) after backing up the phone.. it just did like a factory reset on my phone.. and I mean that was fine but the main problem is that after it had the basic tips tutorial and all that jazz and intro to stuff for the phone, I chose to skip all that stuff because I've restored my phone plenty of times.
But this time was different I clicked next and after that it wouldn't let me go to my phones like "home" and when I clicked the home button it download go to the home screen. Like the notification is still there just not that bottom part, it's just black there and I can't click anything there. Although I can drag the notification bar down and stuff. and lock screen works fine.
So I think my phones still not bricked.. but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get the "default launcher" back.. on to the phone because I remember I had uninstalled it from my phone because I was using a different launcher "adw launcher or adw freak launcher, one of the two". I btw did back the default launcher with Titanium Backup, the default launcher is "com.lge.launcher-380e147c617387bc38cabec97baa8437.apk.gz"
If there is anyone out there that could possibly help me fix my phone that would be very much appropriated My girl friend had bought me this very phone for me because I have been using the gravity t for sooooo long lol and it hasn't been working well the touch screen it had had totally mess up. Anyways have a wonderful night everyone!
Go to google market on a pc search for launcher like adw and install .It should install on your phone even thou your on a pc (make sure phone is on) then click home button on phone adw should start. Then you can reinstall default launcher from tb. Not sure if this will work but worth a try.

He has no launcher simple so the phone does not have a homescreen until he installs a launcher somehow. I just offered one way to get one installed when he had no access to play on his phone. There are lots of other more complicated ways but was hoping to make it easy for him.

Seeing as you seem to have used SuperOneClick, you must have enabled USB Debugging, which means you can use ADB. Connect your phone via USB to your computer (have it switched on at the time) and open a command prompt in a folder with adb.exe and the APK for some launcher. Run the following command then:
Code:
adb install launcher.apk
(assuming the launcher is named launcher.apk; change the command to reflect the real name of the APK).
After it says it has finished installing, press home and the launcher should hopefully load.
Try what was suggested above with the Play Store and see if that works, but if it doesn't, this will.
Or else make a flashable zip file with any launcher .. reboot recovery flash it..
Thanks will try it try it out.

How would I be able to access the file that I'm downloading from the market on pc? Would I have to connect to the internet and sign into my gmail account on my phone? If so that's not possible because I can't go anywhere, the bottom part under the notification bar is all blank after the android's like introduction thing. And I won't be able to connect to the internet because I can't even go into my phones control panel? or what ever to find my home wireless network and enter my password
Boot? as in ..

Hmm by boot do you mean screen turns on and the intro starting and setting up screen starting up after the video? Then yes it does in fact boot up. Just the middle screen isn't functional because I uninstalled awn dock or what ever, the like defualt launcher for the phone. Have I installed the rom?.. That's hard to answer. I have "Downloaded it with rom manager" and clicked on install after reboot but.. I do not believe that it actually install.. I mean how would you know if it installed?

Remember I have done the factory reset on this phone so I'm still unsure if usb debugging is automatically on still or checked. I hope it is though. and there is not way for me to actually go into the settings and check if it is on. but will definitely try this out. I've never used ADB before so idk how or where to get it, I have tried to figure it out but wasn't successful. I do have APK, along wth Android SDK Tools.

Hey don't be sorry! I will give droidexplorer a try, would the phone need to be in USB Debugging? If so I don't have access to go to my settings and check the usb debugging.
Hello I'm back to share with you guys some wonderful news!
Ya I was able to fix everything by going back into the internet just like scull2011 suggested but the problem was I wasn't able to move around or get in the wireless internet connection to do so. But thank god the genius button was there! lol! Idk how or why I went into the "genius button" but I started off just by accidentally saying settings.. for some reason but then I was sent to the settings place and I was able to set up my wireless internet and searching for the market and installing a new launcher (in my case I downloaded adw launcher) and now I'm able to get everything to work luckly!! Never ever would have thought of using the genius button!
Yesss now I don't have to use my Gravity T!!
Thank you to everyone who responded on this thread so quickly!!
It really shows the community and network of people on xda-developer who are willing to help people like me!!
Glad you fixed it.

Google gmail apps doesn't work now
I backed up my files with Titanium Backup hoping that it'd back up that data but guess not the sock apps? So I got the launcher going again but now I came across another problem.. My gmail accounts doesn't synce anymore or google music because I had uninstalled the sock app Social + 3.0.200. I tried to find it on play store but doesn't seem to have it. If anyone came across this problem before please help. Thanks.
Or if there is not way in getting the stock app back on does anyone know of a Calender App that doesn't need syncing? I'm starting school and it'd be really helpful to have a powerful Calender App.
Hey Guys -
I've had a Shield Tablet for a couple of weeks and overall like it a bit better than the Portable I have. The worst thing about mine is that when powering on sometimes, Wi-Fi is greyed to where I can't even turn it on or off. Restarting fixes it sometimes, but up until recently x15 restarts in a row had it greyed out. I contacted Nvidia Support yesterday and they basically said it seemed like a bad unit. Long story short, before returning it, I wanted to try to update to the newest version, but had to do so via fastboot as OTA updating threw an error (it's rooted.)
Before doing this, I used Titanium to backup. As I have a 64gb SD which was 3/4 full, I configured Titanium to only back up each application's data. I also had previously had Google backup via my account - just the default stuff which may only get system configurations. I didn't have too much I wanted to keep except for my XCOM save games which I had worked on for 3 weeks. XCOM was installed to the tablet, but had been moved to the SD card.
After applying the update, the tablet was obviously completely clean except for the SD. I re-rooted, re-installed everything, then used Titanium to restore app data.
Upon opening XCOM, the initial "Resume Game" wasn't lit . I tried restoring it again, but no go. HOURS potentially wasted!
I'm trying to find any way to possibly get them back. Below is all I can think of so far:
- When setting tablet back up, I choose NOT to have it backup / restore. I know in iCloud, you can browse old OEM Online backups and download files with 3rd party tools. Is there a way to do this with Android - if it even would have backed it up in the first place?
- I still have the Titanium Backup - Is it possible the saves are still there, but not restoring correctly for whatever reason? The backed up app was moved to the SD card, but I also moved the newly installed one
Any ideas would really be helpful. Thanks!
Hi
I have a problem that is really annoying me now.
After I did a little test of ccleaner for android, I did mess up something I should not. Or ccleaner did.
After this messup, the backup and restore app that is default in the oem-bundle starts showing a message in the notification center every f... time I reboot, that a recovery file was found on SD-card.
And what ever I do, I can not get rid of it. The onle solution is to not use the program. But I can not get calm when I know there is a unsoluted issue on my device. You know..must..solve..it..
The case is, whatever I do, running the recovery wich the app tells me to do with this message, or creating a new backup, or even restored my phone and formatted the sd-card, this announg thing is STILL present if I dare to use the program.
But I realle WANT this program to work as it did before I downloaded ccleaner. It was my fault, not the android.. And I NEED to get this solved.
I would not use a anorher similar program. I want this, the default one to work like it really did well.
What the h...can it be? What can I do? To make it work again..
This is how it goes;
After the clean install, and after the memory card is formatted (in both phone and computer)-- the annoying message is gone.. But once I do the manual backup, and after this reboot the phone.. Guess what.. "Recovery file found on SD-card" in notification area..
I can now do whatever I want. Restore, backup, anything.. The message keeps coming back like I did not do anything action. But I did.
What is this caused by? When it all is set up all new configuration, it goes back?
Heeelp..
I get the same thing, you know how to fix it? just format the SD card, problem solved, or just get over it either one works,
I do have a working solution that I have settle down with..
Just turn off the notification. It still works like a charm. I dont know if this is just a bug or what..
It is a do-and-forget solution, yes. But ai still want to know wether there is a "right" solution out there..
Hi, I have a samsung galaxy tab s2 the 9.7 inches one, but lately some apps have been crashing or having errors, chrome for example throws that snap somethjng wrong, perfect viewer sometimes gets stuck on an image and I cant chnge it, but all menus work, several apps keep crashing as well.
I have it with official firmware, never touched it, its rooted with magisk since before the problems started, apps that use root are file explorer, vanced manger and an app to disable some samsung bloatware.
I dont know how to troubleshoot android, on pc I would check memory and hdds, but theres nothing lkke that kn android that I could find.
I think it could be memory or storage, but everything Ive downloaded or copied/moved hasnt have any problems or errors. Or something is corrupted in the system, or I dont know what else or how to check.
What would you recommend to fix it? Hopefully starting with less drastic, as in less data loss, factory reset, flashing an original rom or somethjng.
The device is aSamsung galaxy tab s2 9.7 with android 7 with lean launcher.
All help is appreciated.
I believe this were an common issue for Android 7 and below !
and you have an old device and android which I believe it's no longer supported by the most of developers.
try to flash any custome roms & kernels if available.
If apps are randomly crashing then the reason might be it's caused by an update of Google's tool called Android System WebView.

Try using the stock launcher.
See what apks are running and cached right when this happens is it may give you a clue.
I would completely backup all critical data now.
Android is normally very stable.
Scan with Malwarebytes. If you can't find the root cause, suspect a virus, rootkit etc.
This is rare but can happen.
Karma Firewall can help you to see what's accessing what and how often. It uses almost no battery or resources, freeware, adfree, a near perfect little app.
Cant remove lean launcher it gets stuck in android is starting and it doesnt let me change to stock, installed nova just to check if it was lean and still the same problems.
Installed malwarebytes, had to run the scan several times cause it kept crashing, it completed and it didnt find anything.
Installed karma firewall and will see if I find anything.
Thanks

Figure out how to get the stock launcher back.
Any 3rd party app you can't uninstall is already malware. Check Device Administrators to see if it's registered there. Nova is no saint either.
If you can't resolve it error on the side of caution that it is malware and nuke it. Sometimes you never find out which one it was... getting rid of it is all that matters.
Sorry, what I meant was that after uninstalling it it got stuck in androiid is starting, somehow I lost the stock launcher, so it got stuck with no launcher. Found the launcher that came stock, installed it and uninstalled the other 2.
Apps are still crashing, I deleted all apps that I dont really use.

Lol, that can crash it for sure.
See if you can find a common apk between the effected apps. Any recent system app updates?
New or uninstalled apps?
A system apk may have gotten corrupted.
Android is pretty good compared to Windows when uninstalling apps but occasionally a poorly designed app will screw it up.
It's just about factory reset time or your equivalent.
If it an old load that's probably best anyway.
I haven't reloaded in almost a year but I'm ready to go at any time.
Takes me about 2 hours to get it back within 99%. All the data I need for a full restore is on my SD card otherwise it would an additional 6-8 hours to restore the SD card data as well.
If you don't have a complete reload plan that saves all your critical data no matter what, implement one now before you get burnt.
Those stories are too common here
Dont remember when it started, cause at first it was one app from a github that was having problems, then yesterday magisk started and when I got that working it all when to hell.
The app that I use most has a backup/restore file that I saved on my sd, what do you use to backup/restore?
I would think that some backup solution could bring the problem back or am I mistaken, like if you fully restore something corrupted it should still be corrupted?
A factory reset could be corrupted as well? I mean after a factory reset, assuming its software, could it still have the same problems?
Though I dont really have any critical data on the tablet its mostly for browsing, youtube and reading comics. Still its a bother to re configure everything xD. IIRC I think its only been factory reset once.
Thanks.
It's unlikely the factory reload image is corrupted.
The current one your using likely is.
Other than apps that allow you to back them up like Poweramp or perhaps bookmarks, most app data I would write off just in case that was connected to the current issues.
None of my database is on internal memory except DCIM and downloads (both I back it up at least monthly). Critical apps like Poweramp are backed up on the SD card as export backup files.
The Poweramp setup would literally take a week to recreate. Most apps you can throw together rather easily.
All the SD card data is then again backed up at least twice to other separate drives.
I will try Samsung Smart Switch to restore home settings and see how it does on the next reset.
If you issues are of unknown origins being conservative about what you allow on the new load could save you more time in the long run.
If you unintentionally import corrupted data you'll end up doing it over again.
Or do so if the reload time isn't that great and is an easy write off for you.
Fun times... especially if the reload doesn't fix it
Did a factory reset and problem solved, took me less time than I thought to get my most used apps ready to go.
Thanks for the help.

Load apps and especially updates over time to see if one these were the cause.
Forced reloads are rare but they happen usually caused by a rogue app screwing up boot or a malware infection. Otherwise you can usually track down the root cause which is preferable to avoid it from happening again.
Lazy techs misuse factory reset a lot
Will do that, install apps just as I need them and try not to instal a bunch at once.
I had a problem with an sd card and sent it to samsung, they did just that factory reset it and gave it back with the same problem, and they dont even let you know so you can back your stuff up, just lucky it was fairly new at the time and I had the sd card with me.

Sammy tech support sucks.
I'm using the Lexar .5 tb V30 card, just format in phone and it's good to go. Zero issues for $64.
Been using it for over a year now. Play movies and music from it all the time from it flawlessly.
Been using Lexar flash cards for over 15 years and all cards are still functional. No failures or card related issues at all. I like that brand a lot.
