So I broke my Optimus One LG original charger, and I can't find an original LG charger anywhere! I've gone through two local chargers, but they don't last more than two weeks with me.
Would another company's phone's Micro USB charger be alright for my phone? Any specific company or phone which would best suit the Optimus One?
I'm asking because I used to think all Micro USB chargers are the same, but the local ones used to screw my touchscreen up if they were plugged into my phone for 30 mins or so.
A generic USB charger is fine. The way the phone is wired in side determines if it is going to pull 3volts or 5 volts from the usb charger. If you were trying to charge an Ipad then you need to find a high output charger. I've been using my HTC usb charger and Ipad charger on my OP and it has been charging fine.
That's the beauty of Europe mandating phones have the micro usb chargers. No Vasaline required when you need to buy a new charger and cable.
Androids are sensitive to chargers, but any half decent MicroUSB charger should see you through. (The roadside ones don't qualify as half decent ofc )
I carry my Kindle charger usually since it's very compact and many Indian buildings have moved to sockets that take both Indian and American plugs, and it works fine with the phone.

Im just using a moto cable and a blue ant wall plug, now It charges fine, but I used my friends microusb bb charger, and it pumps out more power. Are there cables wired diffrently?
Sent From My P-509 With Xda Premium App
blackberry chargers and moto chargers have the data pins shorted in the charger themselves. This is because they have have high speed/low speed charging detection system (as do most android phones now).
If the data pins are shorted, the charging rate is up to 1000ma, without the data pins shorted, many phones limit the charging rate to 500ma. This is to keep the phone from shorting out USB ports on computers by drawing too much power through them. The wall adapters that require separate USB cables don't always have that, or they limit the power output to about 750ma. The dozen or so smartphones in my office require about 700ma to operate, so the effective charge rate is +50ma, which takes FOREVER to charge.
I took an old 5v 1200ma wall wart from a router and cut the end off and soldered on a USB connecter (with the data pins shorted) now I can plug use those multi-plug extendable USB cables for charging any kind of phone just by putting in the right adapter tip. My P509TN will charge from dead to 100% in just over an hour.

There are universal battery chargers which take the battery directly
Search for those on eBay or maybe local shops..

I have the LG original charger, but everynight I use a Samsung charger near my bed, because it has the wire longer, but you can't separate it to do a usb wire. Anyway I only use it for charging in the night. I think every charger that fit your jack is fine. Like everything in this world, if it fits, then it's ok.

True... I'm hardly ever using the original LG charger. Any micro-USB cable will work. I used HTC, Samsung, Kindle, etc. so far. And my battery's still working splendidly
Im looking for and bought on ebay is one of those square ac/usb extra battery chargers along with a true samsung droid charge cable like what I got with the oem phone. Eveything I am finding is either generic or a samsung cable that is generic or from a different samsung phone. The one that actually came in the box with my phone seems to fit the best over all that I have tried or bought.
Micro USB only come in one size. Each one will prob have different voltage or what not but should fit the same as your stock cord.

Partly true-all microUSB comes in the same size. However, all USB operates at 5V, so there is no voltage difference. Amperage may vary from charger to charger though. A normal USB port is designed to run at 500 mA. The stock charger can provide up to 1A, but the kernel regulates it. I have an LG cable for charging in my car, and my OEM cable roams around my house.
So, are you looking for a battery charger or a phone charger?

Not looking for the batteries as I just use the charger. Ended up buying one and the battery will sit around as I have enough. I did also buy some samsung usb cables but again none look or connect as well as the one that came with the phone for some reason. They work so thats what counts.
I need an extra USB cable for charging my N4 in my car because I use a Scosche dual USB charger 2.1 amp. Will any USB cable be fine like the one in the link below or should I be looking for anything specific? I don't want something to mess up my N4 battery.

I was wondering the same thing. I'd like to get a couple extra USB wall chargers and micro USB cables to go with them. I'd like it to be as efficient and safe as possible for my Nexus 4 as well as friends that may need a charger. (N4 taking priority here)
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Well as long as the power supplied is 5V (the usb standard) and under 1.2 amp (the output of the factory wall adaptor) you should be safe not burning out your phone. If you are just asking about a usb to micro usb cable then it shouldn't matter since the cable should supply the right voltage anyways.

The phone will only take the amps that it needs. I would get a 2A+ charger to be on the safe side.

Actually used it for my Nexus 7 and when I got my Nexus 4 I always used it for that. Never even bothered opening up my stock charger or cable. Dual port is nice if you want to charge 2 devices at 1 amp each without having a bunch of chargers plugged in.

Woah! Thanks man! I've been looking everywhere for this! Haha
I love the OEM USB Cable, especially cause it fits with all of my cases.
I would love to get the OEM charger, but after my current one acting up (usb wire for some reason keeps making it say usb charging despite being plugged into wall outlet), I'm cautious.

This is one of the reasons I bought the oem charger. Had the ac/usb issue. Changed wires and still does that. Used my gnex charger and it didn't give me problems. So I said it must be the charger itself. Bought the new one and now I'm confident when plugging my phone in. No more issues on the ac/usb charging thing

Hmm... for me, I changed the wires and it works. I think I would rather just save the $10 and put it towards the "wheneveritisreleased" Wireless Charging Orb.....or the TYLT VU when it comes out in April.
Hi guys, I have a few micro USB chargers lying around. Just wondering if using these would harm my N4:
12 V, 500mA
5 V, 2.1 A
5 V, 1.9 A
5 V, 1 A
The 12 V 500mA charger makes my phone's screen go haywire (applications opening and closing by themselves) but it does charge the phone.

at least you narrowed it down fast to the wire. in my case after swapping just the wires it was still the same. then when i used the original n4 charger on my gnex, my gnex suddenly had the ac/usb charging issue. my problem with not getting another charger was i sometimes charge both phones at the same time so i needed one more. good thing a couple of searches led me to the buychina site and now all works well.
I am very interested in this topic as I believe I'm going to need a new USB > MicroUSB cable. My cat accidentally knocked off my N4 while it was charging using the original cable/charger. While it seems the charger itself is okay, the cable is what I am worried about. The end seems slightly bent and, while it will plug into the N4 (which will report charging) it doesn't go as "easily". From visual inspection I think the problem is with the cable's microUSB end; I really hope that the N4's socket itself is not bent/damaged in anyway, but I cannot see any visual signs thereof.
I was really hoping to pick up another OEM charging kit, but it appears that (assuming they are legit ) that one can only find them on Taobao/ChinaBuy as linked above? I was hoping Amazon would have them. With this in mind, will there be anything specific to look for finding another "USB to MicroUSB cable" from Amazon to use with the existing, undamaged OEM charger? Thanks.
I'm no expert but I believe there shouldn't be any issue of you get a different cable. I've used an HTC, Samsung and Asus calls with the LG charger and there aren't any issues. If it's just the cable you need, go with Amazon. It'll be faster

Great, thanks. It seems logical that all "USB A > MicroUSB B" cables should be capable of the same thing, but I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something that would say, impair my ability to use this cable for not only charging with the OEM wall charger, but charging from my PC's USB ports, connecting to said PC via USB Debugging for rooting/flashing etc...

DUDE!!!! The 12V charger can KILL your phone.. The phone is designed for 5volts..
As long as the charger supplies 5 volts it is okay... even a 10 amp charger will work fine (if availiable ).. The current is controlled by the device (nexus 4 in this case).. It will draw how much current it requires.. Voltage on the other hand is decided by the charger.... 12volts will fry the device...

Oops, thanks for this heads up! I've used the 12V charger for weeks without any noticeable damage (though the screen goes haywire when it is plugged in). I'll switch to the original N4 charger now.
This is probably a noob question, but is there any specific micro usb cable I should get for this phone? The one that comes with it is so short. Is there any specific wattage or mAh I need to look for before buying a longer cable?
I don't think usb cable matters ,,,,only thing is you have to use correct adapter

USB cables make a huge difference, more than people realize, especially if you want a cable that's longer than 3ft. Try to find one that has 24AWG wiring
Yes, it does matter. Since we can't see internal wires, we don't know what its gauge is. I have changed to original cable (comes with phone) to get faster charging.

You can search for them, and a lot of times it is imprinted on the cable. look for 28/24AWG, this means that the signaling wires are 28AWG and the power wires are 24AWG. The safest bet is to get genuine cables for any of the leading smartphone manufacturers like Samsung, LG or Motorola.
Monoprice is also a good source - http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030307&p_id=5458&seq=1&format=2
I know cable specification would be imprinted out side with most trusted brands, but some times there is no print on cheap chinese cables.

I'm coming from a nexus 6p so I have existing usb type c chargers in place. The only way I can get my s8+ to fast charge is with the supplied cord. The supplied USB c cord with the nexus is type c on both sides and refuses to charge at all. A Car charger that fast charged my nexus prompts my s8 that its slow charging.

Aftermarket USB C wire? Sure it's not some wet noodle wire trying to be a legit wire? Seems to work with all the type C we have here but I make a point to use OEM or good quality USB C wires.

That a very good point, crap USB "C" cables are floating around everywhere online. Your best bet, OP, is to get one from a well known company. I got Anker cables, they seem pretty heavy duty and have not had a single problem with fast charging. Another company is Google, bit expensive but they make good stuff.
Iorange cables have been working for me
So far I've used 2 different cables and 3 different wall adapters. I use the one that came with the phone. Obviously that one works fine.
Then I bought a 6 foot is type c cable off Amazon and use the wall adapter from a galaxy s6.
I also tried my note 4 wall adapter and cable with the micro usb to type c adapter that came with the phone and it works fine as well.
What's a good wireless charging pad with type c cable and power brick? Please post link where to buy, thank you.
I'm using all the cables I had laying around from previous devices. Most are usb micro b, using with type c adapters I got online. All are fast charging. Also ordered a couple type c cables online . They also work. Your problem may be your wall wart. If it's not a samsung adaptive fast charger it may not fast charge. All my wall warts are samsung adaptive, also my car adapter is a samsung. Idk if the type c changed that or not.

Mine have been all over the shop too. I have a post in this forum regarding it. I can't get any charge into my S8+ using 3rd party cables and the original charger with fast charge turned on. It detects the charger but percentage doesn't move. Turning off fast charge works fine though. But it should be detecting fast charge compatibility and going back to normal charging if it's not. But no go with that. Used to work fine with my S7e
I have already misplaced the stock cord that came with my 8+. I've been using my LG V20 cord and standard micro usb cords with the usb-c adapters, all just fine.

I ordered a cord pack off amazon and none of the cords worked.
I left a bad review and the company contacted me to give me a refund and they send me a new cable that they claim they just made cause of S8 plus complaints.
The new cord works great. So I guess the S8 plus can be picky for USB type c cords.
