If my Samsung Gear S2 gets disconnected from my Nexus 6P at all, I have to do a light reset and reestablish bluetooth connection with phone. I have tried updating the Gear Manager app, but I get "Unable to update new software. Device is encrypted. Decrypt?" It sends me to my security settings, but everything I have tried won't make it work.
Any suggestions???
I fixed this. Reset watch. Pair the watch to a decrypted phone, do the update, reset the watch, pair it back to your phone. Problem 100% solved.

Ran into the exact same issue today after purchasing a Gear S2 and pairing it with my 6P. Walked away from my phone, came back, and realized the watch hadn't re-paired with it. After doing some Googling, this is the only mention of it I've found, so thanks for posting it and reassuring me that I'm not crazy.
Unfortunately, I don't want to decrypt my 6P yet, so it looks like I'll be returning the watch. That sucks because I liked it much more than the new 360 and other Android Wear devices. Looks like I'm headed back to using my Pebble Time.
Thanks for penalizing those of us that don't want to use your phones but like this watch, Samsung! /s
*edit* So after doing some more digging, it seems the update I can't take on my 6P for the watch (since it prompts you to decrypt the phone), fixes this issue. Apparently, if you can connect the watch to another, unencrypted phone, then you can take the update and re-pair with the 6P and the problem should be fixed.

Does the Gear S2 work fully with the Nexus 6P?

It works fully until the watch and phone are disconnected (either by getting out of range of each other or by disconnecting them intentionally). Once that happens, you have to reset the watch and set it up again. You have to do this every single time they disconnect.
From what I've read, the latest update to the watch fixes this, but I don't have a phone that's unencrypted in order to download the update (the Gear app prompts you to decrypt the phone when you try and take the watch update). I've got both the Nexus 6 and 6P, so I may just go ahead and decrypt the 6, pair the watch to it, take the update, then pair it back with my 6P.

You have to unlock the bootloader, then flash a file that does the decryption. Problem is, both of those wipe the phone, so you have to start from scratch.

Do you have the version of the Gear S2 that has the 3G or 4G signal? I have the Gear S with the 3G signal.

to be clear, missing functionality on non-Samsung phones are: no text or email app (but can reply to text and email notifications), no ability to answer a phone call, only reject, and no access to paid apps (only free apps) on the Gear app store.

This is not true anymore. I have an HTC One M8 and a gear S2 Classic. I did buy watch faces and apps on the Galaxy App store without any problem.
http://www.sammobile.com/2016/07/08...-an-update-with-new-features-ux-improvements/
Exclusive: Samsung Gear S2 to get an update with new features, UX improvements
We love the Gear S2, and we think it is the best smartwatch currently available in the market (the lack of apps compared to Android Wear or the Apple Watch notwithstanding). Right out of the box the Gear S2 offers an excellent user experience, and we have received information on a major new update that will be released in the near future with a slew of improvements to how the smartwatch works.
The update will be the biggest yet, and the headline feature for many is likely to be the ability to use their photos as backgrounds in watch faces. Using personal photos as a wallpaper on phones is something everyone does (or has done at some point), and it is only natural that the feature be made available on*a smartwatch. After the update, the Gear S2 will also start offering watch face recommendations and will let users install these watch faces*from the watch itself.
This will extend to recommended apps as well – Samsung basically wants you to use the paired smartphone less often, which is why the update will also add the option to post exercise stats to Facebook directly from the watch. The Gear S2′s fitness tracking abilities will also be getting improvements, as the update will add a sleep monitor, a feature that probably should have been there from the start.
Other changes will include the addition of*UV index information in the weather app, the ability to start a timer using S Voice, and a menu for managing notifications when there are no unread notifications available. We’re told the update will roll out*sometime in the coming weeks, although there’s no concrete*time frame. With a big update such as this, Samsung is likely going to make sure everything is right before making it*available to consumers.

If this is real, some of this should of been included already when this watch first came out along with the long awaited samsung pay!
I can already set a timer with S Voice. Hope they meant set Reminders.
Sent from my SM-G935U using Tapatalk
Oh, setting Reminders would be GREAT! Pebble does that and it was very handy. I don't use S-Voice for anything right now because it just doesn't provide me with a usable service. But Reminders? Oh yeah!
personally I think they meant reminders as others have said as settings timers is already possible....should have been a day one feature.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
All mentioned features should of been day 1 or at least top of this year

Well I dont sleep with my watch on... but I do with my fitbit which lasts 5d. They are going to have to do more than "improvements" to get the watch as a fitness device. i would love to see that so dont get me wrong as I wear my watch every day, however Myfitness Pal for food tracking and Fitbit seem to be the best combination as you cannot get info from S Health into MFP (I have tried that one way and it was horrible). Personally I would love to be able to just use S Health but I dont see that happening anytime soon.
What is the current software version? Mine just got delivered yesterday and has R730VVRU2BPC7.
CPC5 is the most current, but this new version is still to be released.

Tizen.
Corrected
I installed few hours ago and all seems to be working properly. First thing I noticed that changed was the first wuget which was 4 components which you could not change is now 6 customized and a center one which takes you to all apps. Also I could be wrong but it appears the Under Armour apps are widgitized and I think more adaptable to Shealth.
Also it seems SVoice was upgraded. Could be me but it seems to run a little faster.
Overall a large upgrade for the device
Where are you?
Upgraded now getting gear s plugin keeps restarting on my phone. USA

Also a very nice feature which android wear has is the ability to place in watch only mode. Basically shuts down all apps and connections and just coverts to standard watch. Great to extended battery life. When I messed with it it indacted battery life would be over 15 days

St Charles, MO! Is yours Bluetooth or from a carrier?
Hey neighbor! Well here is my ownership in the past 3 days. I had the ATT Frontier for sometime. Decided to test Huawei watch2. Used a day or so and returned it and picked up a S3 Classic BT version. Today I ordered the S3 Classic ATT version. Love the watch and figured go with LTE. .
BTW: you do not by chance work at Microsoft in Maryland Hieghts

Sorry.
The problem is.
Samsung has more then 10 different deviceS under the pet name:
"Gear S3"
And over 80 "different" CSC... Sales Code...
So for every Sales Code+ corresponding REAL device Samsung off Firmware update...
This makes around 90 Variants...
If I see Verizon...
Then I am 99,9 % sure you have:
SM-R765V...
Your Sales Code is:
Code:
VZW
So your latest available Firmware is:
Code:
R765VVRU1AQF4/R765VVZW1AQF4/R765VVRU1AQF4
Now you can check on your device... with easy peasy steps... if I dreaming or maybe this could be true...
Under Settings--> About device
You can find many infos...
Or you simple type:
Code:
*#1234#
Then you can try to compare...
Most users here report about Tizen 3 for SM-R760 and/or SM-R770
So check this post:

I installed 3.0 last night. Yesterday, on the previous firmware, my watch was generally using around 2% battery per hour. With the same watchface, using the watch in the same way, I'm now using more like 4-5% per hour. Might try a factory reset.
---------- Post added at 02:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:23 PM ----------
Just done a factory reset and now it's using 1% every 7 minutes!! ****ing useless Samsung twats

No other way as to wait...
At the moment none of these SM-R765 (LTE) Versions received Tizen 3 Firmware.
Nobody knows how long you have to wait...

I performed the update yesterday, and I am also experiencing battery drain. After 2 hours off the charger, the battery is at 79%. You guys might want to wait on performing the update for now.
And I also updated yesterday fully charged at 10:30 p.m. woke up at 6:45 a.m. and the watch was at 97% so no battery drain here but I'm not running custom stuff
