Slingtv app not working. - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Does any one use sling t.v., I've attempted installing it on my s8+ but I keep getting an error message to restart app and try again when I sign in. It works on my other devices, does any one else use slingtv having the same issue with the app?

Same issue here. I was reading the reviews in the Play Store and it looks like a compatibility issue with the S8 and S8+

It must just be an issue in the setup because mine operates fine

Not working for me.

7.1.2 possibly?
One of the latest sling app updates broke streaming to my Samsung stupid tv...
I also have an old d850 and I updated to latest crdroid rom and the app crashes after a minute of streaming, but I don't think it's related to the specific rom

I use SlingTV. It still works without issue on my HTC 10 and PC, but will not work at all on my new Galaxy S8, despite uninstalling, reinstalling and toggling the full screen option for apps. I keep getting the following error: "We're sorry! The app is temporarily unavailable. Give us a minute and then reboot the app. (Error 2-1)."
I've reported the issue to Sling but so far haven't heard anything. I assume all the staff at Sling are iPhone users and could care less.

Using galaky s8 plus, i tried to factory reset the phone n did not nothin to sling and research the resolution and could not find anything

Try this.

Are you using ART?
EDIT: I installed 2 MY TWC and TWC TV, both work. I'm on purity Rom with ART enabled.
You need to further explain your issues and which TWC app ? Rom? doesn't app open at all?

Well, the app seems to work for me on ART. It should work for you as well, I would suggest back up the TWC app with an app like Rom toolbox lite, (it should do back-ups without root), uninstall twc and restore the back up. It sometimes resolves crashes issues with some apps for me.
You are welcome to root your device and will find more solutions. so far, very safe to root nexus 5.

I tried everything and still no luck. I will leave it alone for now. I don't want to root the phone. I feel that every time I root a phone it goes down to ****. Reliability, GPS, pictures everything sucks. I will change my cable company but not root any more.
Thanks for your help

Your hesitation is not unwarranted, but it is incredibly easy to root a Nexus 5. I'd check with others in the community for the app and see if anyone else is experiencing issues.

If you do want to root it, that's how you would do it. I never endorsed rooting though, since I think that in this case, if you just provided a bit more info, we could work it out without the potential of wiping all the data.
Have you tried completely uninstalling the app and any others that may conflict with it?

Nexus 5 stutters and has audio distortion when using only YouTube

I'm on my third Nexus 5 that has had issues, and every single one of them have had this one. When using YouTube the video is jerky and stutters, and randomly there will be audio distortion and pops from the speaker. This is the third Nexus 5 I've had with this issue, and nothing I find can fix it. I can barely find any info on the internet about it.
From what I can tell it is limited to YouTube. The thing is, my old S2 on 4.1.2 had no such issue. None of my other electronics have any issues with YouTube to the degree this does. I'm past believing it is an issue with my phone(though it might be), because as I said, I'm on my third Nexus 5 with this issue.
Has anyone else had this issue? What are my options in trying to fix it? I've had such a bad experience with the Nexus line I'm close to giving up and buying a different phone. This is driving me crazy.
I hope someone can help. Thanks.

App is up to date, and my internet speed is at least 10mbps. I have 30 at home and have the same issues. It does this at home, here at work, and on 4G. But it couldn't be the internet connection as it works fine on my old phone and other devices.
Here's some more info.
Stock, unrooted, stock kernel, 4.2.2. I've been tempted to root and unlock the boot loader to install a new kernel and see if that helps, but I'm not used to rooting Nexus devices and don't want to make it difficult to upgrade to 4.4.3 when its released. Hopefully that will fix this issue, but Google has been radio silent on it so I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket.

I assume by 4.2.2 you meant 4.4.2
Try clearing data and cache on the YouTube app, if that doesn't help try uninstalling/uninstalling updates and reinstalling/reupdating.

Are you certain that it isn't just the video being like that? If you've had this problem over a few devices, you're really unlucky.

I wish it was just specific videos but it's all of them. Happens more often in HD videos.

If it was some sort of hardware issue I don't see why it would only affect YouTube.

Exactly. It's why I've ruled it out being a hardware issue, because this has happened to two other Nexus 5's I've been in possession of. It's so weird.
I've unlocked the bootloader, rooted it, all the fun stuff. I'm gonna try a new kernel to see if that will fix it.

Just an update, yep, that didn't work. Still happens. I think by the end of the year I'm going to get a different phone, I'm done dealing with this. I'll put it with it until then. Thanks for the help.

Hiya,
Im having this issue as well. Some of the videos have disortion and stutters, but its not in youtube app. When I play videos form the websites it happens but, not in all of them. Dont know why some are ok and others dont. Sometimes its really annoying, especially when it stutters a lot in the playedback video. I do not know if its a hardware or a software issue.
EDIT:
Just checked the same video in Android Authority app and in Youtube app. In the first app audio stutters and being a wee bit choppy, in Yt however, everything is fine. Audio is clear, no stutters at all. So I assume its software issue and maybe audio codecs dont play well with third party apps. Also, I dont think there is a solution to this problem.

Is there a fix for chromecast mirrored feature?

i know it doesn't work for the G3. I have Xposed, wondering if there's a work around yet?
What isn't working? I have a Chromecast and the mirroring feature works on my phone.
No matter what, I can never stay away from android for long.

You need to also install the chromecast app from play store. What version is google play services on your g3?
Im using an unoffical liquidsmooth rom for my DD and chromecast works but it doesnt mirror butif i switch to the International rom everything works YouTube Netflixs screen mirroring.
Id love to get a fix for the mirroring and camera.
If you are running ART instead of Dalvik runtime it will just keep disconnecting everytime your try to cast the screen.
You have to run Dalvik in order for it to work.

[Q] TWC Television with Shield Tablet

I'll be getting mine shortly and I'll be testing it on mine. Is yours rooted yet? The app used to have 3 issues-root detection, HDMI detection and USB debugging=on
No, it is not rooted.
They stopped with the root detection a while ago. I've been using the app on rooted devices for some time now. Hell it doesn't even complain about USB debugging being enabled anymore. As for the issue, I too am having it.
Then it's a video codec issue. That has happened on some devices. Last I checked, a 2012 Nexus 7 had the same issue despite it having the obvious power to handle this app. I noticed the TWC app didn't complain about being on my LG G Pad which is stock but rooted (hated that stupid root check anyways).
The app used to have an old issue where it would engage the video in SD (normal behavior) but then display a black screen as it tried to transition to HD. If yours is straight black, it might be something different. Try contacting TW support and see what they say (fat chance but worth a shot)
I just tested the app on my Moto X running lollipop to see if it was a 5.0 issue it complained about USB debugging but not root and worked fine. The app probably needs to be updated for the k1 soc
It also works fine on my Nexus 7 (2012) running 5.0...must be something about the Shield Tablet
The superior CPU this mediocre baseless app founded by apple can't handle the new supreme

It is also sometimes a ROM issue. I need to try my Nexus '12 again since I have a new ROM on it now. At the time I last tried it, the app would do the channel for a moment and then black out issue.
It worked fine before lollipop, after the update it force closes. Supposedly they've fixed the lollipop crash, but it didn'thhelp me. On the other hand I can use Hulu now!

Netflix not working on rooted K1 marshmallow 1.3

Hi there,
just updated the K1 tablet to 1.3 Marshmallow. Looks all good, but Netflix stopped working. After starting a movie, it just spins forever. I already deleted the liboemcrypto.so, but that didn't help.
Any ideas on what I can do here are really appreciated.
I believe Netflix doesn't work properly on rooted devices because they're afraid you might record all the HD content and give it away to hobos.

Well, that seems to depend on the device then, because I have other devices (like my S6 phone) which are rooted and have no problem streaming Netflix content. Hmm, how can I figure this one out?
Not sure what to tell you, but Netflix does work on rooted 1.3 update for me. Have you tried uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling Netflix?
