Hello,
I have a Verizon M8 that i'm using with AT&T. Is there a way to convert my Verizon M8 to AT&T so that I can get LTE? Or can I at least flash the AT&T radio? I noticed this video shows a method for converting Verizon M8 to Tmobile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GhybCyd4Pg He is getting Tmobile LTE with Verizon M8 no problem.
If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great!
This phone doesn't have the bands for At&t LTE. Best you would get is HSPA+.

Yes I know it doesn't have compatible bands for AT&T LTE. It doesn't have compatible bands for Tmobile LTE either, but someone demonstrated how to convert it so now he's using the Verizon M8 and is able to get Tmobile LTE without a problem. So there seems to be a way.
I figured it out. For anyone else out there that has a Verizon M8 and are using it on AT&T, you can convert your phone to the AT&T variant. I'm getting LTE but not constantly, it switches between LTE and HSDPA but it's staying mostly on LTE. Yay!

Hey there. I posted how I did it somewhere in the AT&T forum. I'm not sure where the post is though as it's been a few months and I don't have the M8 anymore. I sold it and bought a One Plus One, then sold that and bought a Note 4, so that was a couple of phones ago.
I'm looking to get a Note Edge likely from eBay or the States and need to know which variant will be most compatible with Bell Canada's LTE. According to wiki, Bell uses LTE bands 4, 7, 12 and 13.

Thanks!

Im on Bell. I bought the T-Mobile version on the weekend. Works perfectly. AT&T will work too. But AT&T locks bootloaders and adds a ****-ton of bloatware.

Hello. I bought an AT&T variant of the S6. I haven't had a carrier branded phone in a long time (as my signature shows), so I was surprised at the bloat, not only from AT&T, but from Samsung. This leads to my question...
Would it benefit me to return my AT&T phone and buy an international version? My concerns are as follows:
1. I'm only slightly worried about the LTE bands/IMEI issues since I use Straight Talk mainly (I'm only on AT&T long enough for them to unlock my phone [60 days]). I'm wondering if Straight Talk would even understand the issues with the IMEI not being registered, or if I'd be stuck on AT&T paying a higher prepaid amount.
2. For those who have bought an international version, what kind of charger came with it? I asked an eBay seller who has several 920I's listed if it comes with a Samsung U.S. fast charger, and they said 'no'. If not, I guess we're on our own to buy a charger/fast charger?
Any answers would be much appreciated.

Return it. I am using SM-G920F International Version on AT&T network. It's way faster and I've already received an update improving stability of the device. Also, check with AT&T about which LTE bands are operating in your area. Atlanta, for example, is operating on LTE bands 17 and 4. Since SM-G920F does not have band 17 support, I am only able to receive band 4 LTE. Keep in mind that AT&T's main LTE band is 17, which covers most areas and SM-G920F does not have that support. You won't receive LTE if AT&T operates on band 17 in your area.
Also, the charger you will receive is Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger.

I have been looking into the 920I, which, by this eBay seller's listing supports LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 17 & 26. That should cover about everything in the U.S., correct?
Also, I haven't read any threads about rooting/flashing custom recovery (because no way to do so right now on AT&T version), but I'm assuming the 920I or F both already have root methods and custom recoveries, right?
EDIT: I just found a 920F on eBay, and it lists the following connections (including LTE band 17):
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G bands LTE B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(1700/2100AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B17(700), B18(800), B19(800), B20(800), B26(800).
Sure yours doesn't support band 17?
From my understanding. The international model does support Band 17.

Thanks for the answers. Has anyone been able to verify this? I'm looking at two eBay sellers with 99.9% ratings over thousands of items sold, and both are listing band 17 on LTE as supported.
EDIT: D'oh! I misread your post as reading 'do not' support band 17. My apologies.

Above site doesn't list band 17. From my experience, I was never connected to band 17 LTE using AT&T. It was either Band 4 LTE or Band 2 Hspa+. Maybe I am missing something or AT&T towers lock Band 17 LTE for AT&T branded devices.
I am not ATT customer. Bought ATT version and have a weeks battle to get unlock code after paying full price at bb. Yes, it has tons of ATT and Samsung bloatware. Took it back and get G9201i from eBay seller Breed. Loving it and working flawlessly on cricket which uses ATT towers.

Is that site "the standard resource" for this type of information?
If so, then it shows the 920I as having 2, 4, 5, 12, 17 and 26 LTE bands.

That website is one and only website that an actual person cross references with the government integrity registration from FCC and oversea government organizations as well. Since SM-G920I model does have band 17 and 4, you will be perfectly fine with using it on AT&T's network. Sorry for the earlier confusion (I thought you were referring to SM-G920F model, which is the one that I am using).
Just to add: voLTE feature is disabled on international versions right now. It should be enabled in the future.
Thanks! Any reason cited that it's disabled? I mean, I could care less anyway, just wondering.

Dear Mr lan, do you get LTE? I'm using G920i and my provider is ATT, I never get LTE here in New York.
My main concern now is if I'll have any problems with LTE on Straight Talk. I'm guessing the only reason one may not get LTE is if their provider doesn't have their IMEI registered as an LTE device. I can only imagine Straight Talk's reaction to someone asking them to register their IMEI.

Must be your apn settings. Yes I get full LTE. I can check when light up on display and the dialer code does show I am connected to an LTE band.
Some folks w att have had them replace thwir imei with an old imei recognized in their network as 4G enable and that may fix your issue to.

Last question, I think... did your 920I come with a genuine Samsung adaptive fast charger? Was it a European fast charger with an American adapter, or American Samsung fast charger all the way?

No European charger or adapter. It was a standard Samsung fast charger. That's what it says on side and when I plug to the phone it recognizes it as a fast charger.

Are the bands on both the same or different. The Verizon Pixel XL seems to be lacking band 7, 12,17 26, 29, 30. Verizon has a habit of blocking essential bands so they don't work on LTE with other carriers in North America such as ATT and Tmobile. Can someone confirm? Thanks.

All VZW LTE phones are carrier unlocked. Most of these phones have bands to work on TMO and ATT. My son used a VZW Note 3 for a few years on TMO. The VZW Pixel should have all the same bands as the Google Store version. We'll find out in a few days but I'd bet you'll be fine.
Yes all of us know verizon phones are UNLOCKED. But they DONT have ALL THE BANDS that ATT and Tmobile use. The note 3 has band 4 and 13 and lacks band 17 and 12 so if you have ATT and tmobile where they use band 12 or 17 it will revert TO 3G SPEEDS. I use ATT And VZW . If I am buying the VZW model i want FULL FUNCTIONALITY OF ALL THE BANDS that the google store Pixel xl offers. NOT THE HALF ASSED with BANDS MISSING NOTE 3 or Samsung esque like versions.
google store pixel lte bands: FDD LTE: B 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/20/25/26/28/29/30 TDD LTE 41
VZW pixel LTE BANDS 2,3,4,5,7, 13, 20,28 Missing BANDS 1,8, 12, 17, 25,26,29 and 30.

Thanks for that but do you realize 3 years ago TMO didn't use band 12 in Chicago let alone anywhere because they didn't own the spectrum so that's a non issue. Around here TMO primary LTE band is still 4. Three years ago the VZW Note 3 worked perfectly w/ TMO, ATT I don't care about since I nver use them. The VZW Pixel will have all bands, to change that they need a different radio which isn't going to happen since Google is in charge of the software not to mention the hardware is the same for both, wait 3 days we'll see for sure.

Won't happen, I'd bet on it. They will be the same, VZW is known for lying a little.
They DONT need different chipsets or hardware for different bands. I am in the hardware industry. You can have the same chipset and lock different bands via different firmware. The qualcomm chips allow for that.
Can someone please confirm this? I am in the same boat as the OP. Want to use ATT Band 12/17 on the VZW model Pixel. I had to flash AT&T firmware onto my Verizon Galaxy S7 Edge in order to unlock these LTE bands. Hoping that since this is a more "vanilla" phone it may have the bands unlocked already.
I was wondering about this as well. I was going to just go to Verizon store and buy it since they have Pixel XL in stock but I am not sure if it has Band 12 for T-Mobile. Any information on this would help! Thanks guys!
Doesnt seem to be good news some guy on the pixel xl forum used att sim with the verizon pixel and only getting H+ speed. So lets see. Dont believe the PC mag article one bit. They said the boot loader was unlocked but turned out to be LOCKED.
Will they support T-Mobile LTE band 71
Yea, I'm 99% sure. Since it will have Snapdragon 845 like the Galaxy S9- that supports b71. We should also see VoLTE and WiFi calling like in all other OnePlus phones.

Came here to ask a similar question. Now that the details and specs have all been released... I've always had carrier phones, currently with Tmobile. Using the op6 in north america(florida) will this phone get the same kind of reception and network speeds as a carrier branded phone would, like an s9 or lg bought from a tmobile store?
Thanks

It should be very comparable. 4x4 MIMO, with 256 QAM and cat 16 LTE. I'm in North Florida too and the OP5 had good reception here.
Anyone tested to see if we can connect to band 71 on T-Mobile

I'm in PA but I can tell you my wife has an s9+ and although her reception is fine, mines better on the op6 on metro (which is T-Mobile). As for band 71, I don't have much of that deployed near me but I've used most other bands listed on oneplus' website so I think it'll work fine.
