[MOD] 2.3.6/7 Video Recording audio improvement -- WIP

Hi everyone
when you record a video on your original SGS 4G camera, your audio sampling is :
66 kbps bit rate.
16 KHz sample rate.
which is pretty lame...
If you ever tried to record live shows or concerts, you probably noticed audio is awful on recorded video...
Introducing Video Recording audio improvement MOD
found and very well explained by rafalense (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10980448&postcount=268).
Performed on SGS 4G camera by me. So, now recorded audio sampling is :
118 kbps bit rate.
32 KHz sample rate.
file size change is barely noticed.
Still camera is not modified.
I took, as a basis, the Team Acid modified camera - done by DSexton702.
So it is capable of taking pictures when battery is low and also by using the power button.
This is still in beta as :
1. Currently Audio-Video is out of sync. I need to check if this can be fixed by changing Video sampling rate....
In the meanwhile, you can fix this on PC very easily.
2. This mod does not use the media profile xml for greater video frame rate.
I actually put the original file back. I found the result to be not supported by all players and having some side effects like visual waves (and much larger file size).
3. Actually I examined DSexton702 media profile and it defines some various audio sample rates but always create 16KHz at the end.
If someone here has the knowledge in A/V synchronization or a good setup that works - please let me know so i will fix it.
Thanks.
CWM Flashable files to download (Camcorder mod and original camcorder to revert back) :
You can use this to sync A/V - http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/download.html
Awesome work! Thanks.
Glad to have u aboard thanks for this man this is well needed!!!!!
Now having AntonX kernel supporting Vodoo Sound - I will test audio HiFi record option enabled on video recording and update.
Would love to see this become final. You certainly are right about the audio during concert recording. All we hear is pure bass... Thank you for working on a much needed video recording mod.

Yeah.. would be awesome.
Thanks for the work, itzik2sh.
Edit : guys working with Voodoo sound (with supporting kernel)
need to run the Voodoo sound app and choose 'Recording Preset' - then change default to 'Loud environment - with DRC'
This should improve the recording level of loud shows.
Hi
Did anyone here test this MOD with live concert recording ?
If it doesn't help than I'll drop all further work.
I thought this problem is SGS 4G unique, but it turns out it exists on all Sammy phones,
even Nexus and SGS 2. See this bounty thread for SGS 2 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172048
and this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896826
I'll try to ask AntonX to take a look or maybe ask supercurio on kernel implementation...
I also tried installing LGCamera from the market, which supposingly has an audio gain control, but it fails to launch and I had to uninstall it.
Nice improvement

After voodoo digital recording, video and audio are repacked and converted to the device analog sampling rates, that this tweak changes (but also unsyncs)...
So if you have the time and effort, I'd appreciate if you share your experience with us all.

[Q] Google Music's album art resolution

Hello.
Does someone know exactly what resolution the album arts on Google Music are of?
I have this link to an album art:
https:// lh4.googleusercontent.com/JnEakRERgrFNUMbTZEmsSjoVRgCN2bG0w1g3WhKiPhmDb6G2w3kA5SOKiBqklYFbXboCHjVkz-o=s160-c-e100
The s# parameter in the end sets the image resolution to the provided width.
I still have to figure out what parameters 'c' and 'e#' stand for, I initially thought 'e' sets the jpeg's quality form 1-100, but it makes no visible difference to me if I set 'e' to 1 or any other number.
However, when you download the music file and introspect the embedded cover art, the resolution of it is 512x512.
I think its 500x500, but I could be wrong..

[Q] WhatsApp Audio Quality Record Solution

Hello,
With some devices, whatsapp audio record looks very awful, almost unlistenable. I know that the app provide some compression over the file to save bandwith, but the strange thing is that with other devices(Sony, Apple, etc...) the sound quality is just great. With this, i have 2 theories about it:
1- There must be a file with audio profiles that the app could use, just like media_profiles.xml that tells output, bitrate, etc, or...
2- Whatsapp is using a "generic" audio record method, not getting advantage of other audio options the device could offer.
The only problem with the second theory is that if you record a video throught the own app/3rd party, the audio is very clear and good.I've tried to look over system/, data/, etc/ and libs/ to see if there's any file that could lead to solution but nothing came.
Please, someone consider some further investigation about this issue, with i believe many people faces this.
Thank you.

What is the best quality

Hi, I write this question " What is the best quality" between the JPG & PNG file format.
Well..... I have app "Camera FV-5" and it's let you choose catching file as these formats....
When I shot an image as jpg its about 5MB in size, but the same scene about 16MB in png... Did that mean it's best in quality.?
I know It's (png) a loosless format.
Did the quality of it's worth its big size.?
I hope the professional in file format & an experience help [emoji3].
With thanks

In your case, yes, a .png image is better quality than a .jpg image.

As far as your matter is concerned....
From left to right, these files are: 24-bit JPG Compressed, 8-bit GIF, 8-bit PNG, Full Quality 24-bit JPG, and 24-bit PNG. Note that the file sizes increase in this same direction.
PNG is the largest image type for bigger images, often containing information you may or may not find useful, depending on your needs. 8-bit PNG is an option, but GIF is smaller. Neither are optimal options for photography, as JPG is much smaller than lossless PNG with only minimal loss of quality. And for storage of high resolution files, JPG compresses to tiny proportions, with quality loss only visible on close inspection.
In short:
PNG is good option for transparency and non-lossy, smaller files. Larger files, not so much, unless you demand non-lossy images.
GIF is largely a novelty and only useful for animation, but can produce small 8-bit images.
JPG is still the king for photographs and photo-like images on the internet, but be careful, as your file can degrade with every save.
Hope this is enough for you to get the point.

Thanks a lot, and I ( therefore) have another question :
" Did png have high range of lighting details like 0-255 as RAW file ( the jpg have just 0-100).?

There's nothing of that sort instead everything is manage by the bits per channel. PNG gives a much wider range of color depths, including 24-bit (8 bits per channel) and 48-bit (16 bits per channel) truecolor, allowing for greater color precision, smoother fades, etc.[25] When an alpha channel is added, up to 64 bits per pixel (before compression) are possible. This is more technical & holds importance for a photographer only.

NEW feature that improves Audio

Hello
first i want to say Thank You for this awesome App
that changes my life !!!!!
i have purchased MX Player Pro i think this is absolutely worth to buy this App 2x
My Question:
I Wanted to ask if is possible to add
a Important feature to MX Player/Pro.
Feature: add a information bar to the
Audio which shows which line uses
How many kbps and which Codec
Example:
Spectre.007.mkv
Audio #1 EN DTS 7.1 at 3380kbps
Audio #2 TR AC3 2.0 at 430kbps
Audio #3 DE DTS 5.1 at 2230kbps
This feature Displays 4 important
information.
1. language of the line
2. Audio Codec of the line
3. the Channel of the line
4. Bitrate of the line
This would make easier to choose
the right line in MKV or any Video
that has multiple Audio lines
Hope its possible for your Awesome
Team to add this feature with the next
update i wish you a Nice Day
Best regards
Osman

Just open the properties & enable "More". It will provide everthing you have asked except bitrate
Thank you very much i searched this for a long time
is there a Option to put the properties to foreground to get quicker access to the information ?
Thank you very much for all your help
